      Though Ivar's determination is absolute Ragnar. So are his insecurities. Whilst Sigurd was his arrogance, which led to his death.
      Then you have Hvitserk's personality which represents ragnar's rebellious nature.
      And then you see Ubbe as Ragnar's dreamer and logical thinker.
      And last but not least, you have Bjorn. The absolute warrior that is both Ragnar, and Rollo, whoever the real parent might be. In the end he was raised by Ragnar, and might've been created by rollow. Which allowed him to adopt features from both men.

      Ivar is not stupid. He doesn't forget his and his father's history. You forget quickly how Ragnar died. Do you remember, Ragnar tried diplomacy with Englishmen and they treasoned him, killed his people as ingloriously (i'm talking about innocent farmers that Ragnar bringed to England) and finally killed Ragnar Lothbrok. This is actually Ragnar's plan and working like a charm. So, Ragnar was already know Ivar would do these things. And also, Ragnar was already knows that Ivar have the black of his mother. Thats why Ragnar brought "only" Ivar with himself to England.
      Ivar learned in a very painful way that after his father had died, he should not have acted emotionally if there is a policy in question. By the way; Ivar was the saddest person after his father was killed. Because Englishmen killed his father in front of his eyes and Ragnar wanted it himself. This was the biggest part of Ragnar's plan.

He warned Ubbe that the Saxons were not to be trusted, Ubbe knew what happened to Ragnar by trusting them too much. Despite this slip, Ivar still respected his older brother, but after Ubbe joined Lagherta, that respect ended.

      Ivar tends to humiliate his brothers, which would obviously alienate them, so I'd definitely say he was the one who separated them. Ubbe was following Ragnar's dream more than Ivar.
      Specifically going to the English that ep was a bad call by Ubbe, but Ivar was just looking for a chance to take over and he didn't have to do this to Ubbe in front of so many people.
      Ivar tends to treat his brothers pretty bad even when they are on the same side. Hvisters STAYED with Ivar and he was still getting humiliated by Ivar
      It's true they would have drifted apart for different goals at some point, but Ivar really SPLIT them as a family and their relationship

    They are supposed to be equal leaders of the Great Army. Now Ubbe and Hvitserk are demoted to followers.

    • @alexman378
      @alexman378 6 лет назад +37

      Ragnar did the same when he said everyone would be equals in their first raid to England, but he was clearly the leader. He, like Ivar, understood that leadership is not just a title you can give to anyone, you need someone who has the right mindset, skill, and determination to make the hard calls. Ubbe is very skilled, but as of this point, he's just too nice to be the leader. Nothing wrong with that, but leaders need to be ruthless at times like this. Hvitserk is in no way a leader, he's always a follower, and he proved that about three or four times in these three episodes alone. Ivar, however hardcore he may be, has the right mindset, skill and makes the hard calls. He knew from the beginning the Saxons would attack, so instead of fixing the weak point and having to guess where they'd come from, he just let it there and prepared the defenses and traps. No one saw to that but him. Then he went to battle and even though he's disabled, and he stopped an entire army dead on their tracks. Even his own soldiers were impressed and a little scared. Then three victories later (one against Aethelwulf in season 4, one against the Yorkers and one defending York), he warned his brothers openly about not seeking peace with Aethelwulf because he knew that would show weakness and the Saxons wouldn't accept that. And he was right again, and it was out for everyone to see. Ubbe and Ivar are the two halves of Ragnar, one is the peaceful badass who is looking to stop fighting somehow and ensure quality life for the people, and the other is the all out darkness and strategic genius of him who believes that in order to not be attacked you have to terrorize your enemies to submission. Ubbe just wanting to be the leader just because he's the older brother comes off more as petty if anything.

      No I did not forget that Ragnar didn't want to be a king... I don't even know why the fuck did you even ask me that...
      By the way, nice job on making shit up, because Ragnar didn't ran away because he didn't want his empire. Just make a quick-search to see why he really left, read the words of the show's creator himself. Or maybe he's just as dumb as me right??
      And I didn't mean his "Empire" in a literal way, by empire I meant, he's the guy that increased his people's power and riches, and he managed to unite many of the vikings for a cause, and take possession of many lands. And he even gave his life to give his sons a real reason to conquer England, so they can avange him and in the process finally take England and thus make his "empire" even bigger. And he never stoped caring about his people, in fact he told Ivar on their last conversation "I believe you are the most important for our people's future" or something like that. So no, he didn't leave because he didn't want it.
      Before you insult someone make sure you have something that makes sense to say or you'll just look like a fucking idiot.

    • @JJ_Adventures
      @JJ_Adventures 6 лет назад +9

      oh baby a tripol ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) lol says the moron who actually thinks ivar is “fucking things up”. Ragnar believed heavily in the future of ivar, and considering that ivar is literally doing what his father told him to do, Ragnar would understand the split in the family, especially since there was always a gap between him and rollo for far dumber reasons. His brothers don’t think him “unworthy” of leading, they’ve just always looked down on him his whole life, whether it’s because of his condition, general lack of respect, or his age, so it’s natural for a split to occur now that he’s gaining his legs (ha) on who he is, and people are starting to accept his greatness.

      Ubbe wanted a long-term mutual beneficial relationship, he wanted his people to be farmers not raiders, He wanted to negotiate peace while they had an upper hand because they were in a foreign land with limited resources with enemies on every side, eventually they had bigger army but no reinforcements meanwhile saxons were fighting a defensive war with unlimited numbers, as we saw eventually the saxons kept getting stronger and Vikings lost. I would have done the same, made a deal with saxons on my term while I had a chance. Ubbe was a better leader here and although his decision was wrong as a whole lot, it was a well thought decision.

      Drakiv yes, Rollo has certainly achieved a lot, probably more than he ever expected. I don't know much about him histotically, but I can't help but think that karmically there's going to be some payback in the future for his betrayal of Ragnar and his fellow Vikings. The real Rollo was a warlord in his own right who fought for the Franks in exchange for land. Eventually he converted to Christianity, too. In the show Rollo did what he did all for his own gain. I can appreciate that he was always impatient to get out of Ragnar's shadow, but his treachery was a lousy way to go about it. Even though I'm sure nothing like this will happen in the series, it wouldn't surprise me if the Franks or his precious bitch of a wife Gisla stab him in the back sometime in the future. He might grovel alongside the Franks in their churchs, but one thing that was very apparent when he accompanied Bjorn on his raid in Spain is that at heart Rollo's still a Viking and consequently a pagan, and these Christians, whether Frank or Saxon, don't tolerate pagans. Those Viking settlers Aethelwulf and his ilk massacred can testify to that.

    Ivar doesn't do anything. He's a fucking cripple for goodness sake. He's sadistic and evil. Lets not forget ragnar himself would have advocated diplomacy with the Saxons.

      All battle strategies came from Ivar, so I wouldn't say he doesn't do anything...he may not be able to fight as others but his intelect got them this far

      Serenity Escape everything ivar has done he learnt from Ragnar. That stupid argument applies to all brothers. And, if it was so simple, why didn't Ivar the sociopath think of it? Because he's irrational and impulsive.

    I'm 😂laughing because people
    expected Ivar to be like Ragnar
    bit*h please he is Ivar the boneless
    He's not a follower, nice guy,
    He is a mean nasty ruthless leader,
    Ivar may have some Ragnar ways
    when it comes to mind skills set on strategies in war militares
    but he has a cold heart like his
    Mother Aslaug more and
    Floki was the one help raised
    Ivar not Ragnar Lothbrok,
    Ivar only cares about winning
    the war for his glory success
    for him and his armies not
    anyone else.
    Besides from Floki, all the people
    that loves Ivar is dead excrept
    Sigurd.
    And neither one of Ivar Brothers
    doesn't see him as their equal
    like rest and Ivar hates that,
    He even told his brothers this,
    He told them that the God's
    chose him as their thier leader

      Ubbe e Ivar são dois lados do Ragnar. Ubbe é o Ragnar fazendeiro das três primeiras temporadas que queria paz com os cristãos pra dar terras férteis à seu povo. Ivar é o Ragnar da quarta temporada, com os sonhos em frangalhos e o único desejo de se vingar dos cristãos da Inglaterra por ter sido traído depois de ter seu povo e assentamento destruído. Mas eu gosto mais de Ubbe, ele carrega as melhores características de Ragnar, Ubbe também honra o pai e sonho que ele tinha.

      @Uilare Год назад

      Ubbe também se asemelha mais a Ragnar por não querer poder, apenas ser um explorador e fazendeiro com terras férteis. O Ivar diferente de Ragnar era ambicioso e queria ser Rei, tendo o desejo de ser maior do que o próprio Ragnar. Também acredito que o Ragnar não teria ficado satisfeito com o reinado do Ivar na temporada 5.
