    Thank you for the video. Tamron is knocking it out of the park. I just recently purchased the 50-400 mm lens and I’m so impressed with it that I will definitely be considering this 90 mm.

    Wow, some seriously impressive work there Matt, thanks for sharing. I've stayed with Nikon/Nikkor for over 40 years but these latest lenses from Tamron are really tempting me. At my age my photography now is just for me, to preserve my memories, not for any other reason, and at Tamron's prices for this level of quality ? I might just break the habit of 40 years.

    Now I know why Nikon partner'd up with Tamron - I've been beyond impressed with wha tthey're producing over the last 2-3 years. Their 50-400 is next on my list, and it'll be my first non-native lens (ever / in decades). This 90 2.8 Macro looks phenomenal as well! Thanks for all you do Matt! 😎📷

    We've come full circle with this new Tamron release. My first proper 1:1 macro lens was their 90mm f2.8 for f mount, the one with the clutch manual focusing. In fact I still own it having adapted it to my micro four thirds system. A great addition to Z mount 👍

    You would have had a blast there, Matt. What an experience, for those reading this and haven't been there. I took some of my favourite photos at Uluru, Field of Dreams and nearby Kata Tjuta. Have you been to Broken Hill and nearby Mundi Mundi lookout, Matt? If not, add that to your bucket list.
    Apart from welcoming the new lenses that are now available for the Z mount, I can't help but be impressed by Nikon's marketing strategy.

    All I can say is WOW!!, amazing photos of central Australia . At first my thoughts were " these shots would be great for another calendar, not quite your typical rainy night in the city with bicycles, but I say give is a go. The Tamron lens is close to my Nikon 85 1.8 S lens which I seldom use. I have found that that focal length at 1.8 is very good for high school basketball and volleyball, fast and all. but its not a macro. I'd say Tamron priced it right. Amazing photos, thanks,

    Nice video, magical place, thanks! The little streams are very intriguing. Those mid-continent clouds are very dynamic. I have an old manual focus Tamron 90mm and a newer af version but Tamron previously made 4 or 5 versions of this macro lens, so if this latest version doesn’t give the Z 105mm a run for its money, I’d be surprised!

    Beautiful images. As you stated, it is notable Tamron is releasing the lens at the same time on E and Z mounts. It says good things about the level of Z mount adoption and the perceived value of that market to companies targeting that segment.

    I love that Tamron is making more lenses for Z mount and they’ve been making some very good ones. I’d love to have their 50-400mm f/4.5-6.3 when I don’t need the reach - or size and weight - of my Nikon 180-600mm. Having 50mm on the wide end is nice and the lens performs extremely well for an 8x range. I’m not sure about this lens though. Firstly, I wonder if the version for Nikon will simply be a mount-adapted version of the E-mount and would likely have more distortion and vignetting compared to the Sony version as a result or will it be optimized optically for Nikon Z-mount. Secondly, I wonder what the Tamron version could possibly have over the near-perfect Nikon Z Macro 105mm f/2.8 VR S? I could see if it were a 2x macro but it’s still a 1x macro. So, other than being cheaper and having 12 aperture blades instead of 9, I’m not sure that the small difference in focal length makes it worth getting over Nikon's own lens even if it comes close to the same performance.

    Between all my Sony G's and GM's I have one Tamron lens. 28-75 f2.8 VXD G2 and its fantastic. Great AF, colors and contrast. So now I am seriously looking for one more Tamron to add into my collection. This one. :) ... a small suggestion... I expect more macro samples, not landscapes but okay :)

    I don’t know the price of the lens. My advice is to look up the Nikon z105 mm micro although it’s not new it’s not that old either , The tamron 90mm looking at your macro photos don’t cut it for me. I am being honest and would recommend anyone interested to look up z 105 price at the moment. You can get a great bargain new . Top tip for anyone the extension tude fitted on to a 24~120 z f.4 . Does Amauu things . Try it .

    Tamron is challenging Nikon at one of their strongest points. For just a bit more money (on sale) you can get the Nikon MC105 which is so excellent. If the Nikon wasn't such a stand-out lens, one might be tempted to save some money. But if you need a Z macro, get the MC105. If you need a 50mm, get the Z 50mm 1.8 S. When greatness stoops down to greet you, say yes.

    My post has nothing to do with the lens featured in this video but please tell Tamron that we need an ultra wide lens for Z mount. I would love for them to make 10-17mm or even a 12-17mm. F/2.8 would be great but a F/4 would work as well. They have already given us a 17-28mm f/2.8 but i would love something wider for Real Estate photography. Matt, please pass on that word for me

    Just out of interest, if someone produced a Z lens and you got your hands on it, would you tell us if it was bad?

    • @MattIrwinPhotography
      @MattIrwinPhotography  10 дней назад +7

      LOL, Yes. Watch my videos, and I tell you what to look out for. I just don't run a gloom and doom narrative. And why, because we get what we pay for in life. I never expect an A grade experience at an entry level price, and vice versa. If a lens is $150 USD, I don't expect the same quality as a $700 USD lens. Nor should I or anybody else, and thus I assess relative to its place in the market. In this case, as I state, this is not a review, and I let the images do the talking, I will review this lens in full at a later date. Watch my reviews, and I will tell you if a lens is fringing, or soft in the corners, or whatever else, but there won't be any sirens and flashing lights attached to that, so you might miss it. I might say something like, " relative to this price point you are getting what you pay for" There is rarely a lens that actually fails to deliver an image of good-great quality for the majority of users in the mirrorless era.

    really too bad it wasn't just a 90mm 1.4 nonmacro -total missed opportunity -per usual for Z-mount ... we dont need another macro unless wide angle macro ... and nikon z 85mm 1.8 (over 2.8) would be better.... bad business / product design ... i would have purchased immediately if it were a 90mm 1.4 non-macro especially beings nikons z 85 1.4 probably coming out will be consumer level, non-pro, sharpness aka suck
