CONGRATULATION Alexis to the Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2024!!!!! ❤🎉 His photo “Life Under Dead Wood” featured fruiting slime mould alongside a tiny, energetic springtail.
Your photography skills and knowledge are far beyond your young age. Your a real inspiration. I look forward to every video you put out because I know it's going to be full of stunning images and interesting facts. 👍🏻
I just want to say - thank you! For everything you do for us, for amazing videos and photos. Thanks to you I discovered new and amazing world of macro photography and after almost 6 years of not having real motivation to use my old DSLR, next year I’m planning to buy new camera and lens for macro and start shooting pictures again and reconnect with nature. Being in the woods and looking through the macro must be so relaxing. Thank you so much for being such an inspiration. For me, you are the best macro photographer on RUclips. No doubt
Yes. Finally someone promoting putting logs back where you found them. These environments have been many years in the making and are easily destroyed if permanently displaced. Thank you! Also in the case where amphibians such as salamanders are found other logs, please do not manipulate them with your hands if you have used chemical insect repellents.
Yeah I should have mentioned that, I'm always very careful handling amphibians and don't touch them unless I know my hands are clean... two dry leaves often do the trick otherwise I've found
@@naturefold Thank you. I’m not sure what kind of repellent you use, but in case you are not aware DEET has a deleterious effect on synthetic materials including clothing, rubberized camera components and lens coatings. Picaridin (AKA icaridin) has a similar repellent effect to DEET but is much kinder to synthetic materials including optical coatings. If you prefer to avoid sprays and creams, I have had good success with permethrin treated clothing although this solution offers limited protection against mosquitos and black flies on exposed areas of skin. Thanks for the great vids and happy shooting!
Amazing job, thanks for showing me how some of the smaller friends in my Narnia look like. So happy you got a shot of the cat bird, he is a curious one :)
Thank you for an amazing wander around Mud Lake. Your macro photography is superb! I also enjoyed your shots of the birds. It is really cool to see you in action! Thank you! - Gaylin, Ottawa Ontario Canada
It's definitely tempting, but good telephoto lenses are just so expensive. I'd love to test more equipment like that out though, I'm hoping to try the Fuji 150-600mm sometime soon
Alexis, you’re a fantastic and talented young photographer. I wanted to ask you, when you do a photo stack as you usually do, what frames per second do you use? Do you get black frames that you just throw away? I’m assuming you’re keeping your focus magnification set and moving the camera towards the subject as you take the photos. Thanks!
Such a good video, thanks for making this :) I'm deeply impressed about how you're able to make such long handheld focus bracketing as well as the quality from the full frame setup ! Hope you'll keep doing similar videos in the future, cheers
Rite Nature Dude, Starting to get better results with my photo stacks and using Affinity photo to tweak the results a wee bit or a lot😂 can't wait for the vid on what you use and how you use it! Thanks for the inspiration. TFS, GB :)
Loved this video and the shots you shared. One of my faves is the caterpillar having a quick snack on the leaf. Thank you for the video and sharing the photo data which I find very helpful. I’m now subscribed. Do you use a Leica camera for the macro shots?
My macro lenses are fully manual so automated focus bracketing isn't possible, I shoot in burst mode and move the camera forward slowly to change focus between shots
Idk but this is so relaxing I am 35 y.o and like what you are doing, I am also a beginner in photography and love your work and channel. But I also have one question that doesn't have just nothing with photography, I like those cargo pants can you tell me where you bought them?
Thanks so much! Those are fairly cheap cargo pants from Decathlon here, but I like them because they're fairly thin and the legs zip off to turn them into shorts
May I ask, are you from south Germany near the border to Switzerland? And do you ride a bicycle, each day? Because I'm pretty sure I crossed your way more than once... Or maybe you have a brother who is looking the exact same like you? :) Anyways I really enjoy your videos! I'm very impressed about your pictures and your knowledge. Your Work is very inspiring!

Nice bird photos! Especially the warbler.
Amazing little world!
Amazing job, thanks for showing me how some of the smaller friends in my Narnia look like. So happy you got a shot of the cat bird, he is a curious one :)
Another great video Alexis, wonderful to see you shooting birds too for a change. Lovely results there too..😊
Excellent macro and wildlife footage. A big LIKE for your video. I'm a new friend here from Singapore. Thanks for sharing.👍🔔

11:40 Great shot of the Cape May Warbler. Beautiful light on its head, and nice composition with the berries.
I'd say that you had a great day! Great shots!
2:12 black squirl nice 👍
Herzlichen Glückwunsch Alex!
Mud Lake, Ottawa. I'm there very often, Cool video! Best Regards :)
Another great video also great sound track to compliment
Excellent.
Fun! 🎉 enjoyed it
Bird shots cool change of pace. Turkey feather details a plus. Did the gear whet your appetite for a tele lens purchase?
It's definitely tempting, but good telephoto lenses are just so expensive. I'd love to test more equipment like that out though, I'm hoping to try the Fuji 150-600mm sometime soon
Thank you for this relaxing video, question?? how are you photostacking with a manual lens on fuji? thank you

Great stuff! Can you explain if electronic shutters can work with focus stacking?
It depends on the camera model. Olympus omd em1m1 does in-camera focus stacking with electronic shutter only
Rite Nature Dude, Starting to get better results with my photo stacks and using Affinity photo to tweak the results a wee bit or a lot😂 can't wait for the vid on what you use and how you use it! Thanks for the inspiration. TFS, GB :)

Thanks! My camera for macro is a Fujifilm X-H2
Do you manual focus and just move the camera for stacking or af with some build into stacking capabilties? No matter the technic your work is amazing.
My macro lenses are fully manual so automated focus bracketing isn't possible, I shoot in burst mode and move the camera forward slowly to change focus between shots
@@naturefoldthank you! You make it Look easy. Amazing work!

Hahaha I live further north in Germany so that's not me😆
Hey, were you shoothing on auto ISO ??
