I don't think so personally. Sounds like some sort of hate campaign against her or female characters. I haven't seen it, so I can't confirm. The thing about the Joker is that he has garnered this sigma male audience that usually has problems with women, so it's difficult to trust any negative rumours spread about her and her character. It's a classic that people think the woman will overpower the man in the movie, and end up being the lead because "feminism". I think it's going to be an equal story.

Bjork played a blind woman who kills a cop to save her son in Dancer in the Dark. It was a musical but it was mostly a movie with musical numbers. Anytime something hard was happening around her, she would retreat into her head and deal with her emotions with a musical number. Star Wars took the sci-fi/serial style of Flash Gordon and some inspiration from great directors like Kurosawa to create something audiences had not yet seen. Joker took the gritty, psycho-drama cynicism of 70s cinema and inspiration from Scorsese to create Joker. For Empire Strikes Back, something even more different had to be done, something darker with more at stake, and while there’s plenty of Harley Quinn/Joker material out there, here’s to hoping that Todd Phillips can make his Empire Strikes Back. This trailer certainly indicates just how different it may be, and I’m on board.

To me, the only way a sequel could work to that of that first film is if it was completely different in scope and tone. A psychological musical? Yeah, that's it...this might be brilliant! Can't wait.

Another gorgeous film and looks to be every bit as good as the first. This, along with Gladiator 2, are my most anticipated movies of 2024 with both first entries being on my favorite of all time list.

Spoiler: That’s exactly what it is. The “musical sequences” are playing inside Arthurs mind. Then he snaps back to the present aka reality. Movie continues then again we go inside Arthurs mind for another “musical sequence”. It’s a back and forth thing all throughout the movie.

One thing that I kind of wish they done was make an original song for the film from what I have heard from the choice of songs they’re using for the film. I mean, you got Lady Gaga as one of the main characters, so it really feels like they could have asked her to do one for the film.

Liking your movie trailer reviews, Chris. I really enjoyed the first Joker movie. Not big on musicals but I’ll make an exception for the sequel. The cinematography does look amazing. Hoping this movie is just as menacing as the first.

I don't think there was a need for a sequel. The 1st one was so well done and what I took away after reading all the reviews from the 1st one, is that Phoenix Joker is the person who inspired the actual Joker. Especially because Batman is still only a kid. Hence why I don't think there was a need for a sequel..... But anyway I'll still watch it

I imagine, this movie will end up being a therapy session where Harley is talking to arthur, BUT Arthur took harley on a trip using his words and stories, that's where all the musical scene comes from, then at the end of the movie, we revert back to the doctor patient scene, arthur say something like, "Do you understand me now?", Harley smiles, movie end

As someone who's never seen taxi driver or the other movie that the first Joker was referencing, and as someone who generally likes comic book movies but doesn't have a super long history with them, I loved the first Joker movie. It broke my heart and I thought it had a lot of really important things to say. I know people get upset because in the comics he's supposed to be evil and chaotic for no reason, with no tragedy about him, but this was a much more interesting character to me and much more engaging story - I don't think you can tell much of a story from that comic book Joker's perspective, because that character never changes or grows. There's no arc there. It'd be just watching a very evil guy do insane evil things for two hours - and that's not really a story, thats the set up for a gore fest horror movie.
Whatever the criticism levelled at it, i thought the first movie was an excellent tragedy. The outcome is inevitable from the start, but you're still hoping something will change. I cared about Arthur and that made it so much more awful when he still becomes someone who can only be called a villain. I loved that, even though it was emotionally devastating lol. I feel sure this second one will do likewise, so I'm very on board!

Let’s not forget that Joker won an additional Oscar for its score and Hildur is coming back for this. I can’t wait to hear her music with Lady Gaga singing it. You know there’s gonna be some epic cello music to go with her voice. Perhaps an Oscar for Song is on the horizon
