@@captainjakemerica4579I agree with you there. He does seem like he’s converted into a typical movie reviewer who sometimes over analyzes everything nowadays.
You know what? I don’t think I've commented on one of your videos before, but I want you to know my respect for you just went up an immense amount. You bought a whole freaking laptop AND filmed at a hotel to upload a trailer reaction a few HOURS after the trailer drops?! Mad respect to your dedication, man! It's clear you love talking movies with the fanbase, and we love being here for it!!
My tinfoil hate theory right now, fresh off the first trailer, is that the movie might actually take place entirely in Harley’s head. Like, she might actually be his therapist in the real world, but after becoming infatuated with Arthur, she’s begun fantasising about a world where there isn’t a doctor-patient barrier between them. A world where they’re both patients, both equals, and he falls in love with her and they go on this grand musical adventure. The movie is still told from Arthur’s perspective though, to keep the twist a secret. But then at the very end everything suddenly becomes reality again, and we’re shown that Arthur doesn’t actually love her, and all the musical fantasies were just songs playing on a radio or something. Then they have an actual therapist meeting where it’s implied there might really be something between them, but that’s left up to interpretation, much like how the first movie ended. Probably won’t be how it plays out, but that seemed like a fun twist to me. Thought I’d write it down incase I’m Lisan Al Gaib or something.
This is exactly what I was thinking because the Joker never was into Harley not in a love like the movie portrays it he only used her for personal gains and that merely was it. But not surprised if Hollyweird changes it.
So dope to see Jeremy in a different setting. I appreciate him buying a new laptop just to make a video sharing his thoughts on the Joker 2 trailer especially since he loved the first one.
Okay one Jeremy TOTALLY looks like Kylo Ren with a beard here and I'm LIVING for it. And two I'm pretty intrigued about this being a musical. 15 songs is a loooooooooot though. Kinda here for superhero movies experimenting with genre though.
Fun fact: This is Joaquin Phoenix’s first film sequel ever. He’s expressed in the past that he doesn’t feel compelled to do sequels or reprise roles based on box numbers so hopefully that’s indicative to the script being worth telling.
Not that big of a flex. Jeremy is a pretty big RUclipsr and makes a good deal of money from his videos. Purchasing a laptop can be written off on taxes as a business expense as well.
1:11 *Harley to Joker:* "Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight? It's like we were meant for each other, beauty and the beast. Although, if anyone else calls you beast, I'll rip their lungs out."
i’m thinking the whole her being a patient thing is gonna end up being another twist like how the zazie relationship was a “twist” in the original movie. i don’t see them going that far away from harley’s origin but you never know
When i first heard the 'Joker' sequel was going to be a musical, my eyes rolled so hard I almost did a backflip. I'm not a fan of "musical episodes" of tv shows, which are becoming a bit of a cliche these days, and often seem forced. But I do love music - it's actually my full-time job - and this trailer seems to hint at something genuinely interesting: if this is a story about how music becomes a medium through which two people who've completely lost touch with reality form some sort of connection, then I'm kind of there for it. Having said that, that could be a story about any two characters with serious mental health issues, so what makes this a 'Joker' story? It's got to be something more than the make-up. Will this movie actually have much to offer audiences who got to see it mostly because they like these characters in Batman comics?
Honestly, the idea of this movie being a musical makes so much sense to me. Music drove the first film forward with a very strong sense of momentum. It got more tense and sinister as Arthur’s psyche broke, Arthur is dancing throughout the movie, growing more confident in his steps up until he dances out of the curtain at the Murray Franklin show. Hell, the first thing Joker does after his first kill is dance. Arthur and Harley sharing these hallucinations (hence the film’s title) in the form of extravagant musical numbers seems like something these two would experience if they truly have so much in common. Though I do get the sense that Harley will become far more unhinged than Arthur by the end and create some interesting dynamics
