Zack Snyder gives us part 2 of his Star Wars inspired fan fic. Is it any good? Does it feel like it's leading anywhere worth looking forward to? Here's my review for REBEL MOON - PART 2: THE SCARGIVER!
#RebelMoon - Развлечения
Netflix could have made the remaining 3 seasons of MindHunter from the budget of this movie. Let that sink in.
Thats ruined my day 😂
It’s been 5 years since I’ve cried. Damn you
The OA...
Ugh thanks for the reminder 😢
after season 2 being super dark, im fine we wont have season 3
I think that whenever Zack Snyder has a pen in his hand, someone needs to be there with him with a spray bottle and say “NO! Bad Zack Snyder!”
Idk i love 300 and watchmen
@@legion24100Those were a long time ago. And they were both adapted from graphic novels not written by him.
@@legion24100 Which Zack Snyder had no hand in writing, and did absolutely slavish adaptations of. The dude has his strengths, but is an absolute id!ot writer when it comes to anything original.
@@legion24100those were comics
did he write them?
It is like with Lucas. THere were many on set und writing.
SOmetimes it is the others who make the magic.
@@legion24100
I liked the part where the villain said "it was you! You were the scargiver this whole time" and then Sofia Boutella was like "thats right, and now it's time for this moon... to rebel" and then they start rebelling and mooning all over the place
it's mooning time
Zack was in the K hole when he wrote this Nile of shit, lol
hilarious
Whats hilarious is i cant tell if this is a joke since it sounds like something Snyder would write and be like, "yeaaa, thats badass"
@@system0fadowner251same. I'll never know if this happened or not cause I'll never watch it. I got Fallout to enjoy and finish. Lol
Calling this lady Scar Giver is like giving John Wick the nickname Pencil Pusher.
Actually, Pencil Pusher is more deadly and applicable to John Wick, since he pushes pencils into people's faces, which definitely kills them, as opposed to only giving a scar and not killing them.
Yea, my childhood skateboard was the real scar giver.
"Snyder needs better writers" is such a great line considering he was the writer for this😂
He's absolutely ruthless in this LOL
Why do people still employ him? It’s obvious his skill set is limited as hell
Writer, director, producer....etc
It's just more evidence that he has been overinflated.
He also needed other writers and something to rein him in.
@@gatoblanco5756 I'm convinced Snyder has got some serious dirt on certain WB/Netflix execs and there's straight up blackmail involved, that's the only explanation for how he keeps getting these massive studios to fund and produce his films. The counter argument is always "bUt HiS mOvIeS mAkE mOnEy" except that's literally not true. Go look at the budgets for his last 5 films and tell me they were remotely finanical successes - they weren't. It's absolutely staggering that this guy continues to find work
The tragedy of Zack Snyder is that he is too big to ever let someone else write his movies, which is the very thing he desperately needs.
He really needs writers and needs to listen to them. He can do the visuals but someone else needs to handle the story
People said that exact thing about Lucas when he made the Prequels, and that's why the Prequels suck. Then he sold it so other people could write, and people bitched that he wasn't the one that made the Sequels, and that's why the Sequels sucked.
@@Erichwanheven as messy as they are, at least they're enjoyable to watch. I do rewatch them more than the PT cause the acting is just. Bad. For prequel content I just stick with clone wars.
@@Erichwanh I think that anyone who wasn't a child when they first saw the prequels can probably tell that they are a good idea for a main story surrounded by plot and dialogue written by someone who doesn't like actors and doesn't like writing dialoge. The fact that other people came in later and _also_ did a bad job doesn't make it any less true.
In other words, when I say that Zack Snyder needs writers it is _implied_ that I meant he needs _good_ writers.
That's how he got lucky when James Fkn Gunn WROTE 2004s Dawn of Dead Remake. It's was awesome (still is) Zack had virtually NOTHING to do with it. Look at the Genius of James Gunn all these years later.
Jeremy talking about memorable character nicknames and referencing Daenerys's titles in "Game of Thrones" instantly made me think of Jaime Lannister's unwanted "nickname" of "Kingslayer", which had so much backstory and character development surrounding it while simultaneously sounding epic.
“Why not call her the Dentist?” I laughed SO HARD at this. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The best use of slow-mo in any movie is in Dredd...
Absolutely, yes!!!
and matrix probably
Wanted as well!
And despite overuse of it in Mission Impossible 2, some shots just look glorious.
And it was done by a RUclipsr.
Don't forget 2 hours of cutting grain slowly....very slowly......
“The most anticipated number 2 of the year” is such an underrated line 😂
yeah that 1 cracked me up to
Especially when it came out the same year as dune 2
@@jermeycoldworld1898 it means a sh*t
this review was way too positive.
I expected the blood and the corn, but the explosive force of this release really caught me off guard, and now I've been Snydered...
"Behold, my field of f***s is barren, for I have no more left to give."
Essentially my thoughts during the Mediocre Seven's exposition scene.
Didn't expect a Broforce reference in 2024. Well done, Jeremy
This movie, both parts, would be the ultimate drinking game. Take a shot, everytime there's a slow-motion shot. Sadly, you'd be dead by the halfway mark of Part 2.
Dude is out of control with that shit. Lol
😂😂😂😂
Part one had slow mo within slow mo in some the scenes. Shit's genuinely unhinged as hell
Such a spot on comment. The Slo Mo that really bugs me are the sweep kicks. There is no way these women are kicking the legs out of all of these Soldiers. To me it's bad action, not realistic or cool. A shot for every slow motion Sweep Kick would also get you really messed up. I may be alone in that peeve, but gosh if that isn't the Dumbest slo mo shot to capture.
@@shawklan27 lmao
I’m honestly grateful for “Rebel Moon” it has completely destroyed the idea of Zach Snyder being some cinematic genius. We seemed to have collective amnesia of Sucker Punch.
Hey! ...uhm.. no, no, you're right.
*Zack*
I only made it 15 minutes into Sucker Punch before turning it off.
I never thought he was good though I will say I thought Watchmen was fine but to be fair it was already written. But hey the first 80% of dawn of dead was awesome
@@SkyExplosion Maybe that has more to do with the fact that, Dawn of the Dead was written by James Gunn.
You know a movie doesn’t offer much of anything if Jeremy spends about 1/3 of this video just making fun of the main character’s nickname
Lots of these characters I kept asking, "why are you here?" And not in a narrative way, with their backstories, but a meta-narrative way with the plot. For example: Oceans Eleven has a ton of characters doing a heist, but each one had a specific set of skills and was necessary to do a specific part of the plan. Sometimes more than one part, but each one was indispensible.
In Rebel Moon, what was the absolutely necesssary skill that each person brought? Why did we need all these characters? I don't need backstory if each has a skill and a personality. I don't know Don Cheadle's backstrory in Oceans 11, but he was the demolitions guy that was going to give them their power outage window. I wanted him to succeed because without him the plan would fail. I never felt that with these side characters. I get you have a "main character," but if the others aren't indispensible, then you should cut them from the script and streamline the story.
Slow mo of some guy taking water out of a barrel was a winner for me 😂
It was kind of funny (unintentionally) when they had that round table discussion that they had to mention that the guy now drinks spring water instead of alcohol. Like anybody cares what he drinks.
The slow mo when the wheat starts falling, like wadafakkkkkkkk. Shud change his name to Zack Slowmo 😅
@@fireboy1996 I care
you know what, that's where i stop it. lol after like hundreds of slomo before. damn is he have some kind of fetish with slo mo
The film should have been called Rebel Moon - Part 2: Epic Slow-Mo Farming Simulator
Thing is, a title like that would actually make me interested in the movie.
Half an hour in and that’s exactly what I’m watching.
This film is stacking up to be worse than the first one….if that’s possible.
That shit was infuriating. Who needs to watch slo mo farming sequences. Most of his scenes can be easily cut down
Yea, that's it.
@chrisdraper845 seeing a orchestra be present in that betrayal scene early on definitely clued me in to the type of self indulgent movie this shit is going to be
Jeremy, I've been watching your movie reviews for...years, now and well, thank you Brother, you really are my favorite movie reviewer. Bravo my friend, I hope you keep doing this for as long as you're able.
did not expect a mention of the Max Holloway ko against Gaethje, ur a legend Jeremy
It's insane to me that Snyder apparently wants to make 6 of these, he really did peak in 300
Na.....he peaked with his version of Justice league and Dawn of the dead.
@@Lyndonswing Justice League, no. Dawn of the dead, yeah

The moment rebel ships popped in at the end and started airstriking the bad guys I was like "cool Zach saw the eagles from Return of the King also"
The arrival of the cavalry is a tried and tested technique in movies and novels. But generally you need to be invested in the stakes for it to work.
@@Cryten0Yeah, if I liked and was emotionally invested the stakes that would have been a cool scene...
Those ships arrived too late and were almost not needed. It would have been uderstandable if empire ground forces would retreat when their ship explodes off the sky and they have been beaten back again and again and their trumpcard of walker tanks are destroyed AND a invincible killer robot is carving them up.
I was expecting the villagers to be angry at bloodaxes for not coming to their aid before the battle is almost finished.
@@yetipotato8567 Agreed late as fuck, wasn't effective, and none of them appeared to have died or the sister, should have at least sacrificed herself , i mean that late arrival was unemotional...
@@Cryten0 Yup. Avengers End Game gets a totally different reaction at the "Cap, on your left" scene.
Adding an Outro at the very end of the video, is something I looking forward to in Jeremy videos!
Why? Why is this happening again? If ever there was evidence that Zack is sleeping with someone at Netflix, this is it. Jeremy plays Bro Force!!! Ooh you have earned your brownie points, that game is so good
Someone needs to start telling snyder "no"
Or maybe studios need to quit chopping his projects up & forcing him to water down R-rated films, into unrecognizable PG13 disasters. 🤬 I'll be waiting on the Director's Cut to hit this summer, cuz I'm not dealing with this bullsh*t again. Not after Justice League. Never again.
Don’t tell that to his fanboys. They’ll just say he’s the only director ever that have studio interference that make his movies bad. Like no other director has had to deal with issues directing movies but his are the ones consistently bleh or bad due to it 😂😂😂
@@KabbalahSherry Snyder had full control this time. Why can't he make a competent movie without multiple cuts? He's also saying the extended cut is an alternate reality. What's the point then?
It’s how Star Wars came out the way it did.
@KabbalahSherry we'll see the rated R version and judge it there. If it's legit then fine BUT a great writer / director is NOT incapable of making a great film regardless of MPAA rating. I.e. James Gunn
That Max Holloway cameo was the best thing ive ever heard
“The Dollmaker” 😂
Title "Scargiver" is because Jack Snyder wanted to give mental Scar for those who watched his passion project expecting it to be good. ;) Best way to subvert Expectation is to give a SCAR lol

The OA, Mindhunter, The Get Down, 1899, The Dark, Glow, Dark Crystal--oh, don't mind me, just listing all the shows Netflix cancelled midway so it could have money for crap like this...
THE BROTHERS SUN
We’re being tested. Testing our limits for self hatred or something. This thing is unwatchable in a serious context. Unintentional comedy is a possibility I guess but even then it’s too stupid for that. The wheat growing granola warriors are up against a fighting force that has “space coal” powered ships and moves weapons to firing positions with hand cranked machines. Wtf
1899 being cancelled was such a disappointment.
The OA was so good❤ I'll add Society on this list
I will always be salty that we never got a Dark Crystal Season 2. I'll say it, that was the best fantasy I've seen in a while.
And instead we get this... And a live-action Avatar we never needed.
Jeremy referencing UFC in a video is a multiverse crossing event for my interests. Amazing
Not likely to watch the movie... But can't wait to watch the pitch meeting for it!

I feel like Scargiver is just Snyder was looking at “Skywalker” and wondering how he can make it edgy.
The fact that Ray Fisher plays a character named “Bloodaxe” as well, if you thought “Cypher Rage” from ‘After Earth’ is ridiculous, think again.
Even “Duncan Idaho” sounds less stupid, and the ‘Dune’ novels have been around for decades.

The fact we got a Holloway shout out is epic. ✊💪
Max " Blessed " Holloway.
Zack Snyder using slow-mo meme is the new JJ Abrams lens flare meme.
Next thing they announce making a movie together, and thus a new meme is born...slow-mo lens flare 😅
At least J.J. used far less of it in ‘Star Wars’… Zack seems to be doubling down on his…
Don't think it's new. It's been his gimmick since his 1st movie. Overstayed and dude never evolved
At least lens flares don't make a movie twice as long as it needs to be.
There was lots of lens flare in the first one.
The thumbnail says everything xD

"I'd like another round."
*Apparently* parts 1 and 2 were originally supposed to be a single (albeit +3 hour), hard R movie, but it was split in two and toned down (probably because Netflix wanted this to actually be their Star Wars, and those are always family friendly), *but* (again) there is a Snyder cut incoming at some point (assuming Netflix don't do a Jupiter's Legacy and just shrug it off because no one cared), and the man himself has said it completely changes the movie (here's hoping).
Then again, he did say the same about the BvS director's cut, and it really didn't.
"The most anticipated number 2 of the year." I guess you could say that...
Should be called the Shit Giver!
I just had my most anticipated number 2 earlier today

The BROFORCE reference maximises respect.
Just before this I was watching a music reaction stream and there was a reaction to Manowar. Someone said that the album cover looked a bit like Broforce game. Never heard of Broforce before. Coincidence that the next video I watched mention Broforce!
This just made me think of... what if in the future with AI capacity I would watch something on youtube and AI would be able to "insert" on the spot content into other videos based on the content I recently viewed. Ny favorite part was when they're debating about tactics, and out of nowhere Digimon Honsou is just like, "LET'S EACH TAKE TURNS EXPLAINING OUR TRAGIC BACKSTORIES, I'LL GO FIRST," and then we have to sit through a bunch of 15-minute slow motion vignettes for each character
And then Djimon tells a story abt how he tried to sacrifice himself to save his men from the evil empire and the evil empire evil empired and slaughtered his men to punish him and then a scant few hours later Kora says she'll sacrifice herself so the evil empire won't slaughter the village and honestly it didn't make her noble it made her absolutely stupid. And I'm sorry but they have the ability to literally raise someone from the dead but they don't have a machine to beep-boop mashed potatoes so they need to go to the ends of the universe to get some wheat thins... like, WHAT IN THE ACTUAL HELL IS GOING ON HERE.
My favourite part was when the end credits came up until I realised I wasted 2 hours of my life hoping it would get better. I did learn 2 things though... 1) pretty sure the casting couch was involved. 2) also pretty sure that the people making this saw every thing I have seen from Firefly to Star Wars and the Magnificent Seven.

The best reviewer on RUclips. You always say it how it is and we love you for it ❤
You know I still find it fascinating enough that I really wish I could interview Mr. Snyder and just ask him, why? Not to disparage him or make fun of him, but I know he has had things occur in his personal life that were tragic, but I have to see that all of his films have this dark tone in them and when you direct them features and everyone can see the almost depressive expression in Snyder’s art, I think to myself. That is coming from within. We all have our internal worlds. Jeremy has a sincere and kind vibe to him. You can tell that he actually cares about what he does and that passion makes his reviews among the best on RUclips. It comes from within. While I am not a psychology professional and therefore you should not read anything I have written to be fact, but never the less, I have begun to believe Zach Snyder has a depressive quality within him and it probably has been there a long time before he started directing features. Than you Mr. Jahns.
As a farmer myself, I must say that the farming parts were more spectacle than realistic or instructive, still the movie as a whole, with the struggles of farmers vs their corporate overlords is timely, important, and I enjoyed it.
I do wish the movie included more legitimate farming info or maybe a more in-depth portrayal of a particular seed or husk that is important to them as a people... but I'm nitpicking here and it's not time to harvest the nit yet.
Zack Snyder is not a good filmmaker. People say he needs writers, but a good script won’t save a bad director
