Hello Jeremy, Indonesian here! I'm also the same ethnic group as Yayan Ruhian, a Sundanese, most of us are from the West Java. "Ruhian" pronounced as the first you said it. Roo-hee-yahn if it's in english pronunciation. Fun fact, a lot of Sundanese people had some of "repetition" in their name. Some of the syllables are repeated again for the last name. Like Yayan Ruhi(y)an. The "yan" is used again. Or Entis Sutisna, the "tis" is also used again. Those kind of names are more traditional, and a unique characteristics to Sundanese people. ps: I met Mr. Yayan Ruhian years ago at my college when he was promoting The Raid, we had a small talk. He was also so small and tiny I thought I can beat him in a fight😂 but after he showed me how fast he moves, it's obvious I will be out in just 1 punch😂
Bills Skarsgård Shonen anime voice gave me LIFE!!! Oh btw the shaman was the villain from both of the raid films. Absolutely awesome to see him in an American film. He deserves more credit as an actor and martial artist. Truly great!
I thought it was an anime style The Raid + Archer= absurdly Good movie, the comedy from the lip reading, to voice work or random weapons cheese grater or carrot, made for a fun Ride and the run time was perfect
Idk y but archers voice goes so well with bills character might be one of my favorite movies rn. Soo happy we’ve been blessed with some good films recently like this one and civil war and kingdom of the apes coming soon. It’s been hard with all the garbage that has recently been being put out
When I hear Bobs Burger voice, regardless if it's Archer or Arbys, I always refer back to Bobs Burgers. How does this guy keep getting work using the same voice for everything? It's like hearing Homer Simpson over and over. Great vids!!
Watched this from mystery movie release a few days ago! I honestly had more fun with it than I did watching Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which I watched a few hours before. My SO didn't like the shaky cam so much, whereas I liked it from the ride it gave you. Worth a shot, Jeremy is right on all points.
I randomly watched this a couple weeks ago and laughed so hard. This movie really entertained me and at this point in time that can be so rare that I have to give this a big thumbs up. Although to some extent I kept waiting for Landon Liboiron to appear for the trifecta.... If you watched Hemlock Grove I guess that makes more sense. Since Bill Skarsgård and Famke Janssen were both in that. Anyway this movie was just super entertaining and if you havee a twisted sense of humor it's funny as hell.
Loved it! Super fun, surprising heart at the end and most importantly short with no wasted moments. Makes it something I could enjoy watching over and over again. Honestly can’t think of an action film that was paced this well since Baby Driver (and that one just literally has a musical pulse to the whole thing) but this was super enjoyable and will be a favorite. Also we need more Jessica Rothe cause between Happy Death Day and this… she is FIIIINE
@@NinjapowerMS Hard disagree on that. I don’t hate Hardcore Henry, but it really doesn’t have much going for it besides its singular gimmick. I appreciate that it was willing to experiment, but once you get past the novelty of the fairly basic action scenes being in first person POV, it’s just of like, “okay, what else?” and the movie doesn’t really have anything else to elevate it.
@@windowsVD That's the entire point of the movie and why it was made in the first place lol. It's supposed to emulate fps games hence the camera and how the whole story is structured plus Glenn from this movie was better utilized in HH . Boy kills world entire gimmick is boring. It was neat at first but they didn't really do anything clever with the deaf mute angle.
@@NinjapowerMS Yes, but it wasn't enough to sustain the movie for me. My problem with Hardcore Henry isn't the gimmick itself, it's that the film severely overestimates how much its gimmick elevates the film. It single-handedly made me realize that an action scene has to be good in third person first, or otherwise the first person gimmick isn't going to add much, if anything. Most of the action in Hardcore Henry is very mid in my opinion, and don't look like they'd be very good in third person either, which is probably why it was pretty much all pretty forgettable. It essentially felt like I was watching mostly C grade action scenes for the entire first 2 acts of the film, but now in FIRST PERSON. The problem is, a C grade action scene is still more or less going to be a C grade action scene even when you put it in first person. The only exception is the rooftop climactic sequence, which was admittedly pretty cool, and almost makes the film worth watching. The deaf and mute angle isn't the entire gimmick of Boy Kills World, it's just one gimmick but the other elements of the movie don't directly depend on it, unlike Hardcore Henry where it has its one and only selling point, which influences almost every other cog in the film.
I was able to see this at TIFF last year, before they cast H. Jon Benjamin as the inner monologue. It was more of a generic sounding tough guy inner monologue originally. I'm looking forward to re-watching it to see how Benjamin's voice enhances/changes the character.
I wanted to see Boy Kills World but my local theater didn’t show it, my next closest theater didn’t show it, and the next only showed for a week. I wasn’t aware this was supposed to be a limited engagement release.
That’s bizarre I live a pretty decently small city that doesn’t get or keep a lot of movies in our theaters but this one has been stuck since it’s release.
@@Link-dh3vg I agree. I’ve never seen anything like it for what I thought was a wide release. Two of the three theaters I mentioned are part of a large chain (Cinemark) and the other is a small chain within California only, I think.
Same here! I desperately tried to view it in theaters, but they only played it once a day at like 2:30 pm when I was at work. I tried and tried to watch it. I even had someone cover for me at work, but then they called out and I had to show up. Instead, I watched "Unsung Hero", which was surprisingly good, but I wished I'd have saw Boy Kills World in theatres instead.

Your description of this reminds me of Level up, similar in that it uses tropes and cliches but its energy and violence give it enough character and fun to enjoy it.
In this, he suffered his injuries when he was young. No stranger to video games. So now, throughout his fighting he'll blurt out things like "fatality" or "player one/two" which will be a nod to all those fighting games he grew up with. But the fighting sequences are legit- complex and lengthy

i saw this movie at TIFF last fall and they actually had Bill Skarsgard narrating which was... interesting. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it felt too much like Deadpool. Interesting they changed that from festival to official release. Liked this thing and was really impressed by the action even if the comedy was a little cringe at points.
I hope that the director of this film is an avid watcher of Jeremy's videos. It's then and only then that he will truly appreciate how much praise this rather calm video amounted to 🤌🏼
I’ve been looking forward to this one since I first heard about preproduction in late 2021. I watched it last night on the early premiere and LOVED it. Admittedly, I am a huge fan of Bill Skarsgard and love that man dearly. Cannot imagine anyone else playing this role as well as he did. Bought it on Blu-Ray, watched it last night, absolutely LOVED IT!!! Great action, some heartfelt scenes, great dark humor, and great performances. Definitely one of my favorite movies of the year.
I was pleasantly surprised by this, and I checked it out today. A solid 7/10 action flick! Bill Skarsgard was great in his role, and overall, the cast was great, Koji's character annoyed me a little and the story for the most part, was just generic/simple but it did not need to be anything else, if you saw the trailer or just a poster of the movie you know exactly what you getting yourself in to and you get what you came for and a bit more! So yeah, I did not expect it to be as good as it was. It was even emotional at parts for an action film.
I'm a bit late, but I absolutely loved this movie. The fights were realistically choreographed, and portrayed each significant fighter with their own specific strengths. Not to mention the whole thing felt like a call-back to fighting movies a lot of us grew up watching.
No bullshit, there are those people, the red flag would be the also suffer from word vomit! Where they say what is EXACTLY on their mind at that moment in time, no filter! We all know these people, in Bill Skar\sgård case though, since he’s deaf/mute, he can’t do that , hence why he chose and has Archer in his head speaking for him! Otherwise, I’m sure he’s be the wisecracking smartass with quick quibs like Deadpool or Spider-Man! Lol
I was crossing my fingers for this one, because I think its the best thing we can use as a measuring stick of how good The Last Ronin could be. Obviously TLR is a darker tone, but the people behind this and the energy/fights are there. Very optimistic now.
I really like this movie. The concept of the inner monologue, and it being Archer, was a great choice. It let the comedy be there and still let the action be the action... well except for sweaty palms... I lost it.

Completely agree with Jeremy here, don't let reviews like ign suede you when the reviewer's not the target audience. 10/10, would buy on blu-ray for me and a friend 👏👍
Hey Jeremy! Glad you had the time to take care of your dad during the pandemic times. I’ve been a watcher since the hilarious red wedding reaction. I am thankful for your content. It makes me smile. Keep going as long as you can stand the challenge of Hollywood content lol. They don’t make it easy when they produce garbage on such a grand scale. I love the films that surprise us more than the formula driven movies. I have discovered a lot of good movies from your reviews. Thanks
I love the black guy talking bout "taking the baby donuts to the closet " type of joke where he couldn't decipher the lips 😂
Thought it was a cool movie. I don't think it's getting enough media attention. I loved that they had a post credits scene.
Bills Skarsgård Shonen anime voice gave me LIFE!!!
Oh btw the shaman was the villain from both of the raid films.
Absolutely awesome to see him in an American film. He deserves more credit as an actor and martial artist. Truly great!
Wasn't Shaman also in John Wick? One of the two assassin's before Wick vs Zero?
Both were great in the film!
He also plays the new crow.
Jeremy Jahns is Doctor Strange.
More like Intern Offkilter
I have never been so early! Jermey!! Thanks for all the videos!
Movie is one of the better movies in the last month let's be real. Don't know why it didn't get much love.
Not enough ads about it. I literally only seen this once pop out before it was out and only noticed just now it's already out...two weeks later.
I thought it was an anime style The Raid + Archer= absurdly Good movie, the comedy from the lip reading, to voice work or random weapons cheese grater or carrot, made for a fun Ride and the run time was perfect
Indonesian here. 1:08 You pronounced it correctly on the first one. 👍
Idk y but archers voice goes so well with bills character might be one of my favorite movies rn. Soo happy we’ve been blessed with some good films recently like this one and civil war and kingdom of the apes coming soon. It’s been hard with all the garbage that has recently been being put out
This Movie was Outstanding, Skarsgard is PHENOMENAL without saying a word, luv the review!
Wasn't he?! I wasn't crazy about him being the Crow until I saw this, but now I'm all "when tickets go on sale"...
That Monkey Man comparison at the end is so, so true.
When I hear Bobs Burger voice, regardless if it's Archer or Arbys, I always refer back to Bobs Burgers. How does this guy keep getting work using the same voice for everything? It's like hearing Homer Simpson over and over. Great vids!!
I love that guy's voice! First heard it on Archer, and I do that "Leo pointing his finger" meme every time I hear his voice.
Gene…
Yeah, Cyril!
Jim Cummings has the same voice in almost every voice acting gig he does too
Fair, but to me, he will always be Coach McGuirk from Home Movies
@@justyagre6296McGuirk! Yes. That's my introduction to H Jon Benjamin as well
Watched this from mystery movie release a few days ago!
It was epic. I thoroughly enjoyed it! 😂 “Golden Toe Jam”
I’m 45 and this movie was absolutely amazing!!! It’s now streaming!
That review was spot-on. Just got home from seeing it. Loved the hell out of it. 🤘🤘🤘
I liked this movie, ultra violent, good fights, good fight choreography, unique characters, unique kills, and a diabolical sense of humor
It was a fun movie, and agreed on Jessica Rothe, probably one of the more underrated actresses.
Go watch Hardcore Henry. It's a bit nauseating with the first person camera but IMO I think it did everything better than Boy kills world.
Can't wait to see this movie! Can we all agree Jeremy hasn't aged in 10 years? Dude is immortal. Keep it up!
The tone of this, from the trailer, reminds me of Mad Heidi from last year, which I enjoyed! Looking forward to this.
I was able to see this at TIFF last year, before they cast H. Jon Benjamin as the inner monologue. It was more of a generic sounding tough guy inner monologue originally. I'm looking forward to re-watching it to see how Benjamin's voice enhances/changes the character.
I only picture Bob when I hear that voice and it makes it so much funnier to me haha
one of the first times watching a review from Jeremy that I genuinely couldn’t tell if he actually liked said film till the end of the video.
Great to know the person who’s writing this is writing the upcoming TMNT Last Ronin movie.
Went to the premiere last year at TIFF. They gave out macarons at the end, referencing an ongoing joke in the film. It was a lot of fun!
I thought it was great. Yes, the plot was a bit predictable, but execution was great and the dark humour was a great touch too.
@@buywithburdell3064 I hate making blind physical media buys but I refuse to support the streaming industry, so…
So far, this is such a great month for movies. Civil War, Abigail, Challengers, and now this.
Monkey Man and The First Omen also!
@@sandythemaster6898 Yup those 2 are also very good.
I won’t touch Challengers and I thought The First Omen was boring, but down with the rest!
Civil War was boring as hell, Abigail was ok, Challengers was fine. Omen movies are poop (that's me thoguh) watching monkey man tonight. Don't think this is a good month for movies at all. In fact, it's possible no good movies are happening until the end of July
@@nightwingaven69 Uhh, ok 😐
I think the voice was explained in a trailer! It was an announcer from a fighting game he loved.
2:42 Yep. I just learned a month or two ago one of my oldest buddies don't have an inner monologue.
Aphantasia is also pretty interesting, where someone doesn't have a 'Mind's eye', and don't see images inside their head.
Do you know if they experience that at all too?
It can make for some variety in conversation, I check with friends about it.
@@jackbauer-vf1njno fuckin way. There's people that just... Don't think about things?
@@whenallelsfails21
They would describe it differently.
If you search the word, there are articles and Reddit posts that show people's experiences with it.
They'd say they still think fine just as others, it's just a matter of doing so without images, and only concepts and ideas.
@@jackbauer-vf1nj sorry for being so crass. Im just finding out how close minded my line of processing info is. I had never considered the idea of thoughts without images. It sounds like being blind in your own head. Now that I think about it people born blind have no image to reference for thoughts. Huh.
i saw this movie at TIFF last fall and they actually had Bill Skarsgard narrating which was... interesting. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it felt too much like Deadpool. Interesting they changed that from festival to official release. Liked this thing and was really impressed by the action even if the comedy was a little cringe at points.
It's still cringe
I hope that the director of this film is an avid watcher of Jeremy's videos. It's then and only then that he will truly appreciate how much praise this rather calm video amounted to 🤌🏼
I’ve been looking forward to this one since I first heard about preproduction in late 2021.
I watched it last night on the early premiere and LOVED it. Admittedly, I am a huge fan of Bill Skarsgard and love that man dearly. Cannot imagine anyone else playing this role as well as he did.
I felt all the emotions when he had those heart string tugging scenes. He gave a phenomenal performance!
The movie was a damn fun time! ❤❤❤
This movie was saved drastically by it's ending. Without that last 15 min this movie would be mediocre at best.
@@JuliusTurner-hm6ff sorry you think that. It was a fun time from start to finish for me. I can’t wait to own the physical media.
@tinabeckel950 nah action was "been there done that" with boring villains until the last reveal when the real action took place.
@@JuliusTurner-hm6ff well, you should go chat up someone else who shares your opinion and view points, because I one thousand percent disagree and have no desire to discuss negativity online.

Went in blind last night. Was pleasantly surprised. Especially hearing Bobs Burger voice the whole movie.
thank youuu! Shaky cam is the absolute worst!!
Bought it on Blu-Ray, watched it last night, absolutely LOVED IT!!! Great action, some heartfelt scenes, great dark humor, and great performances. Definitely one of my favorite movies of the year.
Anyone else show up to a movie 20 mins late now because of all the trailers and ads?
Always 😊
I was pleasantly surprised by this, and I checked it out today. A solid 7/10 action flick! Bill Skarsgard was great in his role, and overall, the cast was great, Koji's character annoyed me a little and the story for the most part, was just generic/simple but it did not need to be anything else, if you saw the trailer or just a poster of the movie you know exactly what you getting yourself in to and you get what you came for and a bit more! So yeah, I did not expect it to be as good as it was. It was even emotional at parts for an action film.
Saw this at AMC Screen Unseen. Loved it.
Me too!
I don’t know what that means.

@@masonruni Thanks!
I can’t do those in fear of inadvertently dropping money in the coffers of the Rodent House.
was it woketarded?
I'm a bit late, but I absolutely loved this movie. The fights were realistically choreographed, and portrayed each significant fighter with their own specific strengths. Not to mention the whole thing felt like a call-back to fighting movies a lot of us grew up watching.
I call bullshit that some people don't have a inner monologue in their heads.
Same. I think it's a communication issue.
!
Apparently he’s never met a schizophrenic.
The studio should do a No More Heroes adaptation
Are you gonna post this on every review for this movie?
@@windowsVD only on the 4-5 I've seen. Want to see if different audiences have similar reaction
I really like this movie. The concept of the inner monologue, and it being Archer, was a great choice. It let the comedy be there and still let the action be the action... well except for sweaty palms... I lost it.

So far we have buy on Blu-ray for 2024 are Boy Kills World, Dune part 2, Abigail, First Omen, and Late Night with the Devil. These are all a must watch IMO.
Sadly, the only one out of those that has delivered solid box office numbers is Dune 2. With so many strong low to mid-budget movies underperforming or straight up bombing, it does seem like theaters are increasingly becoming the place for big budget franchise movies and not much else.
Sharlto Copley is such an awesome actor who has a nose for films that are absolutely awesome action spectacles.
