Godzilla taking power naps in the colosseum is such a weird but adorable flex on mankind.
He's basically a cat lizard. That's his spot now
Yeah the humans had built a temple for him in hollow earth or subterranean earth and that Japan scientist blows a nuke at the pyramid so I assume he wants a new temple or home for him 😂 straight makes sense
Yea I loved that scene and the fact he went back at the end made it even more adorable.
It was so cute, I hope that they continue that in future movies
Except Godzilla is amphibious. He’s always been amphibious.
And Godzilla is not supposed to be “cute” … he’s radioactive and has atomic breath. He’s destroys everything he encounters. Not to fail to mention he wrecked the coliseum as he exited it, but somehow it looked repaired upon return to his “cute” slumber.
🤦🏻♀️
How the planet in this universe has not been fucking destroyed yet is beyond me
Probably the same way Earth hasn’t been destroyed in the MCU for the last 15+ years, which I highly doubt you’ve scrutinized in the same way you do the Monsterverse or literally any other franchise…..😑😑😑
fact LOL @@MultiCrimsonRain
It's got that Angel Grove magic.

Edit: thought it was a planet in FW not an asteroid. Fixed it now
Godzilla is fully capable of blowing up the earth too 😅
In GvK he drills down to the hollow earth and in Final Wars he actually blows up a fucking asteroid
I like how Kong used the baby ape as a weapon and beat the ish out of the other apes in one scene. That was EPIC 😅😅
That scene sent chills. I always wanted to see that and here we are, lol.
Yeah I laughed out loud in the theater, it was great lol.

Even Batman & Robin is way more enjoyable than Madame Web
Why, your movie isn't any better
When Godzilla and Kong first meet up in the movie I absolutely lost it when Kong was holding up his hands at Godzilla like “bro chill” and then when Godzilla attacks him he immediately hits him with the pocket sand! 💀💀
"you're with him! you're with SAND!"
I made that King of the Hill reference in theaters! It was so dope to see how effective it was on Godzilla lol
@@octavio0390 bro I wish you were in my theater, I literally shouted “POCKET SAND!” when that happened and everyone looked at me like I was crazy. 😆

The reason Jeremy is the best movie reviewer on RUclips is because he’s quick and to the point, funny, and gives his fresh opinion rather than bias from other reviews.
Also he has not become a pretentious movie maker like that other guy
@@ticler You mean Jeremy is not a stuck man?
@@ticler He sure tried. Remember when he moved to LA to sell out and his show got cancelled? I sure do.
I also love that he doesn’t spoil anything ever, sometimes when I see other reviewing they talk a little too much about certain details that may spoil some things. Kinda like Chris stuckman, I usually watch stuckmans reviews after I watch the movie because of that lol
He also sticks to a formula that works, pretty much the same outfit, same background, same energy.
When I went to the movie yesterday, a dad brought his 6 or 7 year old daughter. It was her first movie in theaters ever, and it was in Imax. She got so sucked into the movie, she was moving in her chair when the monsters were swinging fists at each other, clutching the arm rests when the air vehicles were falling, and just having a blast. I knew going in this wasn't going to be the same kind of picture as Godzilla Minus One, but I love both films for completely different reasons, and am so glad that the Godzilla franchise has room to have both kinds of movies in it.
Wonderful story, thanks for sharing!
Amen! ❤
Hey everyone! This guy paid $25 to go see Godzilla x Kong in theaters and he spent the whole 2 hours staring at a 6 year old girl!
@@IloveGorgeousGeorgeWhen you put it like that...
Just took my 7 year old daughter to see it. And at first she was scared and covering her face. I grabbed her hand and showed her how excited I was. By the end of it she was literally clapping and cheering on Kong
That scene with Godzilla basically going “ N**ga I thought I told you to stay off the surface !!“ while charging at kong whos trying to tell him he wants help not smoke is comedy gold
I LOVED THAT SHIT 😂😂😂😂😂
Kings just standing there like “Yo yo dawg I just wanna talk bro I JUST WANNA TALK!!” Before getting tackled into a pyramid. Then Mothra stepped in like the supportive gf she is to calm Godzilla down.

It’s funny that Jeremy says this movie feels very expensive, as it actually had the smallest budget of any Monsterverse movie.
Well, CGI has gotten cheaper.
is that why the cgi looked funky in some parts i also heard they I had a short schedule
I believe it's because of less money spent on marketing. The Monsterverse is already popular, word of mouth marketing will do most of the job.
@@Kennydawg900yeah in the beginning of the movie u can tell cgi decline
Cgi was really good and it's all daytime too and the screentime of titans were too much .
Appreciate the no dialogue scene, you knew exactly what was going on at every point.
Yeah kind of hate when somehow we need stpd exposition in temple when you can just show it
They showed 100% that dialogue was not necessary. My 9-year-old son knew exactly what was going on along. We both agreed that the humans really didn't need to be there.
I said that exact thing! It felt like the filmmakers were actually trusting their audience for once, and I hope that they do more of that in future monsterverse movies!
Those parts were hilariously bad. They were basically just silent humans at that point

I saw it yesterday in IMAX. The final 30 minutes were absolutely fantastic! Big CGI monsters having a slug fest? Sold!
Brainless fun for the sake of Kaiju movies won't last long. People are already getting tired of saying how cool the movies with bad writing and tons of green screen rooms are because they see monkey vs lizard punch it out. There's more to a movie than this, it's not even serving the universe they're trying to build, it's just like a modern MCU movie except it's still light on its humor and tries way harder with the destruction. This is what killed the showa era films slowly too, you just give up and target something smaller in order to stop trying. For those it was kids films that slowly became dumb and a mixed bag even for kids, here I see the classic Hollywood writing death I've been seeing in almost every single damn movie I've consumed post-2020. It's stagnation, even the trailer feels like a 2014 epic.

I'm convinced that this and the previous movie are much more Kong centric because they don't know how to make or care about the humans, so they choose the closest thing to them by using a big ape that can show expressions like us without needing to write mediocre dialogue for him. To give them credit, it's a clever strategy because it keeps the focus on the big monsters, and one thing these movies nail is how well the personalities of the kaijus, from Kong to King Ghidorah, are portrayed despite being giant god-like creatures compared to humans. And it worked well in the previous one since Kong was the underdog in the fight, and it was a nice way to make us root for him. I just hope we'll get either a Godzilla 3 or a final GodzillaxKong movie where Godzilla is actually the main focus again, make it over the top if you want with an alien invasion plot and Gigan as the main villain, or an epic conclusion against Destoroyah.
The aliens from Pacific Rim come to mind. Entering Earth not by space, but by portals in the ocean with their own Kaiju's. I always thought they could make it an alternate reality thing for the monsterverse. Maybe even add Jagers so the humans can do something lol.
After godzilla v kong there was no way to making kong a valid adversary for godzilla until glove but mothra is there check em now godzilla still beat em both tho😄! to give kong a major role appearance was this movie for sure! I'm sure if another rises it can go 1 of 3 ways... Godzilla is stand alone, or godzilla v long again being he has shimo now or they make space godzilla which is bad enough to need all 3 or destroyed.. However until oxygen destroyer is revamped into the lore destroying can't exist and 5 movies later it's possible 🤷♂️however where the story is seems like a finale already🥂 the world is at peace the monsters are within there areas and problems are resolved, and being what there known as godzilla protector of nature, and long protector of people so if you look at what the next movie...well godzilla is cemented now so making him a target or long going rogue at nature, or they bring another adversary whole wants to do against both.. What would fans really want next?! Hell as I stated before if Yamasaki/wingard collabed a Tohoverse could rise and space godzilla or destroyed could exist! I mean space and destroyah are Kia so bringing them to monsterverse would crash with to go lore, so try n decide how the next one resumes if they do... Sorry I'm a fan😂
there's a contractual issue about how they are allowed to portray godzilla. he always has to remain somewhat aloof and a force of nature...something like that. kong's a great ape. humans are great apes. there's a lot more to connect there. but the way these last 3 movies have tried to integrate the human element into these movies is hilarious in its ineptitude. the worst of them was GvK though. GxK thankfully didn't spend much time on the human nonsense - none of which made sense. did you note how humans were still trying to attack godzilla 3 movies into the franchise after establishing the fact that godzilla is what keeps all the other titans in check? jfc. GxK did have significanlty more of the good stuff though (focused on titans) and did an admirable job with the emoting amongst the kong-ish titans.
I think we have to realize that with these movies the human characters just simply don't matter and we're just here for giant monsters fighting.
After watching Godzilla Minus One, I think the reality is we can’t make a great Godzilla movie. There is so much in Godzilla that can’t be replicated by American writers. The best we can do is pull on American nostalgia and remake Showa type movies.
When it cones to Kong, the US created Kong and honestly, it’s a concept American can write for. King Kong was always portrayed to be human like, sympathetic, which makes him the perfect hero for American style writing. Where as Godzilla is a symbol for neclear destruction, Kong was a symbol of racial tension, which Kong representing or fears of interracial romance. With that, in our times, Kong now is a sympathetic figure who is easy to write as a hero.
One thing I love about Jeremy, he gets straight to the point.
He rambles on and on and doesn't get the point I have no idea what you're talking about
I loved how earnestly they embraced the crazy fantasy/si-fi elements and made it feel like you were watching an old Showa era Godzilla movie. Plus they finally did what they should have done this whole time and made the monsters the MAIN characters since they're what people are coming to the theaters to see. Minus One was a great movie but if you watched is hoping to see some badass kaiju fight scenes or even a lot of Godzilla you might be kinda disappointed, this movie scratches the itch which that movie couldn't
How is it that within 20 minutes without any dialogue, I understood the motivations of both Kong and villain and what is at stake. While the MCU couldn’t do that within 2.5 hours of exposition vomit

It sounds awesome, and exactly what I want. It's silly that people keep comparing it to Minus One, especially when Godzilla has a long history of crazy, less serious films.
As for Godzilla not being as big of a focus, I think it's because his role is pretty firmly established. He's the force of nature, ultimate equalizer, apex monster. He's the big gun called in when all hell breaks loose.
So yeah, I'm hyped for this.
Yeah I felt Godzilla wasn't overshadowed at all.

The script was not that great…there were interesting parts but plenty of why? Parts too. If you look forward to it that’s cool. Plenty of action but I never really felt the stakes.
Because you had an amazing picture, one of the best films of the year it came out, hailed as the best godzilla movie in the last couple of decades if not ever. The way I see it, Godzilla Minus One is a modern version of the Godzilla movies like the original and 'Return of Godzilla' from 1984, bringing Godzilla back to his roots.
US Godzilla is ultra-big-budget 1960's & 1970's Godzilla, from 'Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster' through 'Terror of Mechagodzilla'.
When one looks at it this way, there's plenty of room for both. Godzilla, in pop culture, has had 2 identities - the horror icon, and a hero that kids (and adults that enjoy childlike excitement) enjoy, and as long as both sides of the Pacific continue to showcase these different sides, then I'd say let's keep Godzilla going on both ends!
Yeah! Let's spit roast Godzilla!!

This is the first review I've seen that I completely agree with. Everybody else on RUclips seems to be ignoring just how much it feels like they just stopped caring and plot and logic after the last one. It's so weird to think that this Monsterverse is still in continuity with the relatively grounded and serious 2014 movie.
Something I haven't seen anybody mention is just how wonky the needle drops are in this thing. Seriously, Kiss, Loverboy and Badfinger?! It's like somebody made a mistake and told the music licensing department that this was an Eighties period piece or a Guardians movie. The Badfinger song especially was just laughably mismatched with what was actually on screen.
It's funny that Jeremy mentions Transformers movies without a human focus, seeing as how we're getting our first TF flick without *any* humans in six months with "Transformers One". Really hoping we see a trailer for that soon...

I was surprised at how much fun this was. The more I think about it, the more it falls apart in places. But overall I was having a blast.
I just can’t shake the thought that there’s probably a hypothetical Godzilla movie happening parallel to this movie that we don’t get to see. We get little glimpses every 20 minutes or so, but for most of the movie, Godzilla is off causing destruction by himself with no clear reason why. And I gotta imagine Millie Bobby Brown’s character and that kid from Deadpool 2 are trying to figure out what’s going on. But they’re not in this movie, so I guess we’ll never know.
Kinda weird that she wasn’t even a vocal cameo on Brian Tyree Henry’s podcast or something.
It's time for a Primal Rage movie. This seems like the Showa era Godzilla films.
Kong: Primal Rage would be a good game
@@Oinker-Sploinker For sure.
Facts!
saw it last night and i can honestly say its a GREAT time if you're drunk, especially seeing Kong fight the 3 apes and meeting the little ape....that one scene had me dying (iykyk). loved every minute of it, very fun movie
I did enjoy and find it how much more they played up the pro-wrestling elements in this one. In that light, with the lack of Godzilla characterization and arc he comes across as the Undertaker, this unbeatable force who's helping out the guy he beat at the last Wrestlemania out of begrudging respect (and other plot reasons).
First time commenter on your channel Jeremy but I’ve been a fan since I was 17, glad you’ve weathered the test of time and just been an honest film reviewer true to yourself
Super excited for this one. Saw GvK in Dolby Atmos and the sound design had the theatre shaking so hard I was geniunely afraid the seating structure was gonna collapse. Talk about thrilling. Hopefully this one keeps that consistency.
Saw this one in IMAX. It did not disappoint
“Man wears bumblebee as a glove” 😂
I feel like his main nitpicks about the movie are dealing with the fact that the Godzilla x Kong really feels like an open love letter to the showa/heisei toho movies with their psychic characters and over the top monster action. And while Godzilla doesn't get a whole lot of screentime, every second of it is an absolute win!
"YEAH , now it's a New Empire!"
Well done Jeremy
It doesn't matter if it's good or bad, as long as it's fun.
Disagree. It’s hard to enjoy a movie that’s painfully corny and has lame dialogue. Take the last two Bay transformers movies for example
@@corneliusc.carrot3474 I didn't say those were fun.
I@@bromodragone8405I agree. I watched more than I should have of those movies, but I definitely stopped paying to see them. The last ones were especially terrible.
Thats all that Godzilla and Kong has ever been, y'all acting like these films are masterpiece storytelling, its a dumb action film that's all it is and will ever be
@@kaof-1958 that's all we want, cool monsters, good fights, awesome sound effects, the less people the better.
The Primal Rage comment had me dying as only people who grew up in the 90's would get that reference.
HUGE respect for the Street Fighter x Tekken name drop!
The Primal Rage reference gave me big-time 1995 feels ❤❤
5:47 They totally knew. Its Showa. Its PEAK showa
Peak Showa was garbage stop acting like it was good 😂
@@ScarletDream21 I'm sorry for you kid that you didn't experience peak.
@@ScarletDream21 so you are a not a fan, no problem, just say it
@@lautaroasis60 Am I a Godzilla fan? Yes I am I have been for 20 years and will always be a Godzilla fan but am I a fan of dumb movies? No I’m not I love the Godzilla franchise but a lot of the old movies were idiotic and not rewatchable in my opinion I’ll go and Watch Godzilla x Kong since I am a Godzilla fan but it’s not unfair to say the Monsterverse is approaching Michael Bay Transformers territory
Michael Bay transformers was badass that's why they made a shittillion dollars@@ScarletDream21
"lemme pop some popcorn, Jeremy Jahns just reviewed the new godzilla"- me to my dog
Has so much fun with this movie but i really hope we get some more classic Godzilla villains. Mecha king ghidora, megalon, gigan, destroyah, etc.
Your opener is hilarious because that was my first thought seeing the trailer.
I did not have very high hopes but I will still see it. Love your reviews Jeremy. I can't wait to get a few laughs outta this thing!!😆😆
" Its dumb at times, dumb fun at times "....... couldn't have said it better
Entertaining Review aside, Jeremy got my LIKE because of his exact instant vocal reenactment of 80’s synth music 🏆😎
So it's a monster verse showa era Godzilla movie. Can't wait for tomorrow!!!
Street fighter x tekken is definitely the most underrated gem out there 😭 the soundtrack was also amazing
Jahns is not only a good critic but he is super HANDSOME : )
This movie was the pinnacle of the word WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE pure fun and adrenaline in the action scenes and Kong was even more endearing than last time and also the 70s/80s music playing over the crazy action had me smiling, a fun romp for all monster lovers
