Sure, there were lot ''lucky'' coincidences about the glove, but the main goal was just help Kong recover ASAP and go into the ''end of the world type'' fight fully 100%. Your mention of the 25 minute no dialogue sequence made me think, I would unironically love to see a Genndy Tartakovsky Godzilla x Kong movie. What he’s able to accomplish narrative wise in Primal with zero dialogue is impeccable.
That scene that you mentioned when that random human character comes in with an army of flying monsters was actually setup earlier on. When they first entered Hollow Earth, they flew next to a flock of flying monsters and that random human mentions that he can camouflage as the monsters and blend in, which comes back later. @@JohnBrown-tw2qi The superhuman defense force was from Final Wars. Allthough the alien race that look human tend to be in many Godzilla films (usually ones with King Ghidorah or the Showa Mecha Godzilla).
Nah, they didn't speak in the Japanese version- Toho went all-in on the human lead being a mangaka, so in that scene they had literal speech bubbles. They also used the weird scratched-record sounds from the cockroach aliens devices to 'show' they were talking on a frequency that humans couldn't understand. Apparently there were concerns over the sound effect, so the dub gave them the voices instead.
I think this monsterverse movie has the best cast out of all of them. The whole movie is such a showa era godzilla movie. Psychics, goofy coincidences, and usually not an in depth plot to focus more on the monsters, which i love because we have minus one at the same time, so you can like whichever one
@@jackoplumkin6412yeah, I liked 2014's different take on Godzilla. The camera is always placed below the monsters giving a more immersive terrifying look to them from the human eye like you are among the panicking crowds. I view it more as disaster movie than a godzilla movie maybe that's why I'm fine with the flaws it had.
-1 and the new empire are the perfect examples of both extremes of Godzilla movies. It’s very dark and serious or goofy and ridiculous. It’s fascinating.
When I was in the theater and Kong made friends with the child ape I legit couldn’t stop laughing because they literally looked like Kratos and Atreus but monkey
I actually liked the psychic human subplot, it felt like it was right out of classic 90s Godzilla. Also the powerhouse project sorta makes sense considering Kong is basically humanity’s sole kaiju protector and he’s obviously getting too old to go toe to toe with Godzilla.
The Psychic girl was a prominent character in the Heisei era of Godzilla films. Something that was cool about that period was the continuity between movies.
I honestly dont mind godzilla's screentime because hes pretty much serving as a deterrent force whenever other titans get out of hand. I would like another solo film before another godzilla and kong film tho. Also about the gauntlet they already made it clear in GvK that he absolutely cannot survive in cold environments when they entered the Hollow Earth through Antartica so😂
I mean if I'm not wrong the hollow earth doesn't really have any frost biomes right? so how would they know to make the glove cure frostbite on kong? They obviously didn't know shimo existed to.
The last 20 minutes was just pure awesomeness. The most itself was really good too but the fighting at the end was amazing. And if you've seen it then you that anti gravity part of the fight was awesome and i wanted more of it
My son is 8 and is absolutely obsessed with Godzilla and Kong … we took him to an early showing and he was living his best life telling me the names and background of all these other monsters in it lol
Tiamat could have been a way better fight. Prior to this movie, in the comics Tiamat nearly killed Godzilla and he only lived because there was an air pocket in which he strew her in and had the advantage
Tiamat went down quicker than I had expected just based off its cool design, and it “having a territory”, so the decision might’ve been to ensure the audience knows which new titans are alphas and which aren’t.
I agree, extending that fight and making a little longer would’ve also given Godzilla at least a little bit more screen time in this movie as he should’ve gotten. Tiamat was such a cool monster. I would’ve loved to see her and Goji fight a bit longer.
ye unfortunate they've been killing off some big names like Ghidorah and Tiamat. I guess with Hollow Earth though anything is possible to bring them back.
Yeah I thought so too at first but then I remembered that godzilla powered up before that fight to ensure that he had the edge. I think that just goes to show how powerful tiamat is if godzilla knew this and powered himself up to combat it
I thought Scar King pointing and laughing at Kong was just an edited meme until I watched the movie and figured out it was a legitimately scene. I died laughing at the part bro! 💀💀
@@trippymlgjunkrat5749 i loved that too lol I think G evolving/powering up made him pretty aggro tho..plus Tiamat was described as highly aggressive and he consumed his shit basically
I liked that godzilla and Kong both had some great back and forth in their fight. We see godzilla spear tackle Kong, Kong using pocket sand, Kong landing a mean uppercut, godzilla hitting the most unexpected and disgusting suplex of all time, Kong going monke mode on godzilla on the ground, godzilla getting fed up and just shit stomping Kong in the sand and almost blowing his head off. I also liked the very clear angle they're taking on godzilla being a constant danger. He's not outright evil and rampaging, but he seriously does not given even the slightest of fucks about the mayhem and destruction he causes for humans. It feels like they're setting him up as an anti-hero. Good guy overall but occasionally he does bad things. I definitely want to see them take godzilla the menace to society route and have the conflict escalate. Give us a mecha godzilla mk2 with human pilots, mostly inspired by kiryu please. Some of those cool laser tanks too to fight G man. Oh and him returning to the roman colloseum for a nap like it's his dog bed is hilarious and adorable to me. He's beeeeg doggie. The fact the colloseum us completely undamaged by him too means that he really gently gets into his dog bed. That's just fucking wild that the people there just have to deal with godzilla living in their city constantly. Insurance? What insurance?

Godzilla and crazy shit going on are synonymous with each other and dragging Kong along with it is a masterclass in how you make a monsterverse continuity that is both nonsense and very fun
As a lifelong Godzilla fan, who loves the serious toned movies like Minus one, but also the wild VS style movie… this movie is much better than I expected! Its was the monster verse movie I was least excited for, but I left the theater tonight saying “that was so much fun” and already getting tickets for another showing!
The best parts of the movie seem to be described a lot like how the show Primal plays out, and spear & fangs relationship is parallel to kong x godzillas
It wasnt an anti frostbite serum. It was an advanced regeneration or healing serum. Which godzilla like kaiju have and could probably be researched. Also They usually keep titan side projects located next to the outpost of the titan they relate to. In king of the monsters they even hold the muto corpses in godzillas castle bravo location. That place was kongs earth outpost Edit: also this is hardcore a modern showa film. The 60s did this stuff all the time
If only critics would do a little bit of google searching before just automatically assuming something is a plothole. The "plot holes" do make logical sense within the rules and worldbuilding of the movie. Why would monarch or any government entity fund the development of weapons for kaijus? Well apex was straight up building a giant robot godzilla so why wouldn't one agency atleast consider weaponizing kaijus in some way or form? Especially if that kaiju serves as a defender for humanity that you would probably prefer to keep around. Why would monarch have an adcanced healing juice just laying around in an outpost? Well we literally see kaijus in the previous movies have very strong healing factors that allow them to recover from wounds very quickly. Why the fuck wouldn't you want to study that mechanism? That kind of advanced biological process of quick regeneration would revolutionize the medical field. For fucks sake we already study whales and axolotls for cancer research and limb regeneration. Makes sense that monarch who already specializes in kaiju research would probably have some kind of medicine that they developed from their research. King of the monsters end credits legit had several references to potential benefits that kaijus bring, such as a new sustainable energy source, or environmental restoration, and etc etc. All of these "plot holes" at least have logical explanations for them that work fully within the rules and world building that was previously established. So while it may have been convenient to the plot it isn't a plothole by any means.
The thing about the stupid human plots, is Godzilla has almost always had mid human plots, so longtime fans such as myself are used to it lol. Take Godzilla vs Gigan for example, the human plot is about a group of people setting out to stop humanoid cockroach aliens from using a Godzilla statue to kill Godzilla. It's fucking dumb and I love the showa era movies for that, and the goofiness of the new monsterverse movies is so reminiscent of that
@@Ether_Liner_Ado_Edem it's one of my personal favorites from the series. Gigan is so cool, even in the old goofy way he's portrayed. And fun fact, Godzilla vs Gigan was the first Godzilla movie to show the monsters bleeding (when Gigan uses his chest saw to cut Godzilla and I believe when Godzilla stomps on Ghidorah's neck)
Still, that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t try to make the human plot better. Make the characters more fun, interesting and have be involved in the monster stuff in a fun and interesting way. Doesn’t have to be deep, but at least make it more entertaining.
@@Abhushan-q9w oh I absolutely agree. The plots in the old movies were dumb and dare I say bad, but at least they were goofy and sometimes even entertaining. The monsterverse, a lot of the time the human plots are just plain bad. But my comment was more in the line of saying that I'm so used to Godzilla's mid plots that when a human plot is bad in a modern Godzilla, it doesn't bother me
@@lucifermagne7458godzilla raids again, 1955 was the first to show a monster bleeding, but godzilla vs gigan was the first to make godzilla himself bleed
Imagine finding others of your own kind for the first time in forever and when you do they immediately start beating the crap out of you. Kong can never catch a break! 💀💀
I like to point out some of the cons in the human part that are a bit inaccurate: 1.the project powerhouse was tease in the opening, albeit it was a few dialogue 2.the project powerhouse wasn't really located conveniently near where kong collapse, the human at first investigate the monarch outpost that has been destroyed (this is where the power gloves were store) and then used the heav plane thing to go far to where the plot largely take place(where later this is where kong collapse) so one of the main cast had to use the heav and fly back to the outpost one to grab the glove 3. It was established in the beginning of the scene where they first enter hollow earth that the heav has the ability to camouflage to look like the electric bird monsters flock so the heav could fly with them (because the bright color of the bird monsters are a sign that they are poisonous or in this case electrified to warn predator, there by a perfect shield for heav) so it made sence that the dude return with an flock of bird monsters, attracted them with the camo and the mating call 4. The injection in the power gloves isn't really a convenient forstbite antidote, it was probably some super steroid for kong to give him enough power to used the glove (and cure him from any damage) at least from where im getting after watching it 5.this isn't really a correction but i like the mother daughter subplot for the human part, it ain't perfect but it's sweet compare to the human sub plot of gvk where they traveled across the globe just to pour a drink on a computer (even though I prefer the father son sub plot of kong and suko)
Majorly, disagree with your point 4 and slightly disagree with your point 2 corrections. It was pretty convenient that the glove just happened to be right at the outpost and extremely convenient that it just so happened to have a serum that cured frostbite. Everything else I agree with, though
@@Goro_Maj1ma I understand, thank you, although you're right about the serum having the ability to cure frostbite coincidentally is a plot hole, but for the glove being at the outpost, it was established that project powerhouse funding was going to get shotdown and because of the fear of the prototype getting taken by the government, monarch hide the prototype on the outpost of hollow earth
If you’ve ever watched something created by Genndy Tartakovsky, you know that a story does not always have to be told by dialogue alone. It can be told through visuals and the expressions from the characters. I thought they did an amazing job showcasing that during the whole Kong discovering other members of his kind segment.
I personally love the fact that Hollywood nowadays is completely embracing the goofy batshit nature of kaiju flicks. I thought this movie was goofy, stupid, and funny asf, but all in a good way. From the cyborg arm, to the one liner shots they give the kaiju, to the premise of it all it’s just awesome.
I don't know what was funnier in this movie, Kong finding out his species is in a forced labor camp, then punching the dude, or Kong trying to tell Godzilla (Who just sprinted here from another country) to chill out before getting slammed into a pyramid, or the two of them charging into hollow earth ready to fuck some shit up. My main gripe (same in GVK to a lesser extent) is that it feels like the scale of them has been lost in translation, as most of the titan scenes are on Hollow Earth where everything is already big, and the pacing of the fights is quicker too, so it feels like there is less physical weight to them.
My favorite bit was Kong getting so pissed off about this little monkey luring him into a trap that he picks him up by his head and uses him as a club against the other apes.
@@nicolestimothy9921 Great question, unfortunately that is never answered, But he never actually killed tiamat in that fight so I just going to assume that this is just a powered up version of tiamat that believes it could take Godzilla now

You can tell Adam was a fan of the franchise. I saw so many elements from the old Toho showa movies and even heisei and millennium. If he makes a trilogy I have a feeling he’ll focus more on Godzilla. Overall already saw it twice and got tickets for 3 more shows
Honestly, Godzilla x Kong movies could just be monster-focused with no dialogue and they'd be amazing. Godzilla Minus One was incredible with its human cast though.
Dude stop comparing -1 with mv. -1 is like a disaster movie. MV is like superhero stuff Godzilla in mv is a defender of nature and -1 is a bitch💀. Both are different genres
@@Arlecchino_69easy lad. I will agree minus 1 has the better humans. But the humans in this movie arent bad either and we can enjoy both. Trying to directly compare the two in both tone and objective is stupid tho. Its like comparing Batman: The Brave and the Bold to the Nolan Darknight trilogy.
Godzilla went full goldberg mode when he fought kong 💀💀💀💀 and then kong using suko as a weapon and Doug stealing kongs food was too peak… it’s called gxk the new peakpire for a reason
Im fine with Kong getting most of the attention, big G was still present when needed. I also suspect we are getting either "Destroy all Monsters" or "Final Wars" at some point, and Godzilla will be the center of that by far.
I like to think of this movie as a survival rpg; Godzilla out grinding for XP, while kong fortifies home base. rewatched after this thought process, made it hilarious XD
when I was watching the movie and watching the human parts, I was like “oh my God we’re still doing this”, “we still have the same problem”, we’re still doing “no you can’t come with us. It’s dangerous comes with “ like I was genuinely surprised how little has changed in the script format. It’s like we can’t progress outside of the Michael bay-ism. I thought the final battle was very short compared to the first one. Now was thinking about it I think they blow their load a little too soon on the budget.
The Monsterverse is kind of like Transformers in a way-both of them are action-packed, but instead of alien transforming robots, it is giant kaiju. I'll admit the plot is absurd, but I love it. In fact, I saw it twice. I do like the new titan Tiamat; this monster reminds me of Manda.

Apparently there were concerns over the sound effect, so the dub gave them the voices instead.

That place was kongs earth outpost
Edit: also this is hardcore a modern showa film.
It's fucking dumb and I love the showa era movies for that, and the goofiness of the new monsterverse movies is so reminiscent of that
I totally forgot about that movie😭😭
Just remember it's a super wacky story, and it all just fits in nicely like a 90's Saturday cartoon. Such a joy to watch
I like to point out some of the cons in the human part that are a bit inaccurate:
1.the project powerhouse was tease in the opening, albeit it was a few dialogue
2.the project powerhouse wasn't really located conveniently near where kong collapse, the human at first investigate the monarch outpost that has been destroyed (this is where the power gloves were store) and then used the heav plane thing to go far to where the plot largely take place(where later this is where kong collapse) so one of the main cast had to use the heav and fly back to the outpost one to grab the glove
3. It was established in the beginning of the scene where they first enter hollow earth that the heav has the ability to camouflage to look like the electric bird monsters flock so the heav could fly with them (because the bright color of the bird monsters are a sign that they are poisonous or in this case electrified to warn predator, there by a perfect shield for heav) so it made sence that the dude return with an flock of bird monsters, attracted them with the camo and the mating call
4. The injection in the power gloves isn't really a convenient forstbite antidote, it was probably some super steroid for kong to give him enough power to used the glove (and cure him from any damage) at least from where im getting after watching it
5.this isn't really a correction but i like the mother daughter subplot for the human part, it ain't perfect but it's sweet compare to the human sub plot of gvk where they traveled across the globe just to pour a drink on a computer (even though I prefer the father son sub plot of kong and suko)
Thank you

@@bradleybledsoe7693 😐
My main gripe (same in GVK to a lesser extent) is that it feels like the scale of them has been lost in translation, as most of the titan scenes are on Hollow Earth where everything is already big, and the pacing of the fights is quicker too, so it feels like there is less physical weight to them.
