@@joshhunt4146 I completely disagree with you too. 💋 I never loved the first film like everyone else. It just was not as good compared to the sequels. My favorite Jack sparrow moment in dead man’s chest. Is when Jack couldn’t desire what he wanted, so the compass couldn’t help him out. Jack takes advantage of Elizabeth’s feelings of wanting to save will. In order to convince her, if you want to save Will, you have to desire to want to get to the chest of Davy jones! If Jack couldn’t figure out what he wanted, he was going to get it out of Elizabeth by manipulation. I recently rewatched the trilogy and it’s STUNNING! To this day, the CGI looks AMAZING, for a 15 year old trilogy it’s mind blowing. I’m a huge fan of Pirates, I will forever be in awe of its achievement.
I can quote so many scenes in their entirety from DMC and AWE. I don't even think I saw them in theaters but I feel like I have because they are so beloved to me.
The music drop when the kraken takes down that first ship has always stuck with me and you see that crew screaming as they meet their demise. They put up a good fight but it was over before it even started.
I remember going to see Narnia in 2005 and the teaser trailer happened for this movie. The theater absolutely lost their minds. This is probably my favorite in the series.

Great review, I just watched this movie again this weekend, this is one of my favorite movies for so many reasons , great writing, great acting, great score. This film has such sentimental value to me when it came out I went with my father and my youngest son. Unfortunately for me and my family neither of them are with us anymore. Seeing this film again reminds me of my father, and my son laughing and loving this movie
This was the best movie of the franchise my favorite. I left universal studios when this came out me and my cousin went to go see this and my mom called asked where we were I told her we went to see this movie she got so pissed and whooped me when I got home. She said I wasted her money and we can see a movie when ever but the excitement for this movie was so great: the whooping was worth it. Me and my cousin was enjoying the hell outta this movie.
Honestly I always preferred Dead Man’s Chest over the first one. I think it was the dark batshit nature of it mixed with still awesome swashbuckling adventure that made me love it. All I know is Pirates wasn’t the same after Gore Verbinski left.
OMG, I totally remember those days of getting to the theater hours early and just hanging out with other fans. It was great talking and coming up with what’s going to happen in the movie. It sucked having to fight for a seat, but it was still cool.
I’d say that it’s quite the coincidence to see this just a day or so after rewatching it, but this film plays multiple times a year at our house. Everyone loves it. Probably my favourite POTC film.
Ngl I’ve always considered DMC better than the first. Yes the first is a lot more airtight in terms of plot and all that, but as much as I love it, it almost feels TOO perfect a film. I like the messiness of the second one. The darker tones explored, the goofiness, the high stakes, the ticking time bomb of the plot. Characters who for the most part remained prim and proper in the first finally getting their hands dirty. It just feels like a more wild ride you’re taking alongside Jack’s crew as opposed to the first where you’re kinda accompanying Will and Elizabeth in learning about the pirate world around them. Where in the first you expend mental energy and focus learning about the world building and characters, the second you can just enjoy the ride and atmosphere since you’re already semi familiar with it. So is the second a better film on paper? Maybe not, but for me it will always be my favorite of the trilogy and the most rewatchable.
My favorite Pirates film. Black Pearl may be the most perfectly honed, but the Temple of Doom-esque pulpy darkness of Dead Man's Chest is just so my shit. And I love World's End as well.
Love seeing this movie get appreciation! Was about 10 when this came out and was blown away. Still remember wearing the Key from the happy meal toys around my neck hahaha thanks for the video
I know it's a bit unpopular to say, but I do enjoy Dead Man's Chest & World's End. Davy Jones is such a great villain. He really does have a menacing but composed presence. The Liar's Dice scene is probably one of my favorites in the movie. I actually really wish they kept the extended version of that scene in. There's just so much going on in that small game & the movie does a great job of showing & not explaining that.
I remember begging my mom all day to take me to the midnight showing for this movie (wish those were still a thing) and had no idea the level of hype this movie had and we pull up to the theater and there were hundreds of people in line and it was sold out! Went to see it the next night with a friend and the only two seats left were in the very top right corner. I miss the days of no reserved seating and the excitement of showing up early and scrambling for the good seats!
I remember this movie because this is first (and only movie) I sat front row for. Looking back it would have been better to be in the middle, but this back in the day where you just got a ticket and you had to find an empty seat.
I know that feeling of excitement you are talking about when you see a movie. Seems like something that was only happening in the past. I haven’t felt that type of hype or excitement for a movie in years
There is something about the eyes of Davy Jones. Because of the squid beard, they had to convey so much of his emotions through his eyes and body language, and boy did they succeed.
The "Midnight release" showing of this film is one of my fondest young adult memories. It was so hype. I had a costume and everything. I remember it was also one of the first to do the showing at 6pm instead of proper Midnight which was disappointing in a way, I really loved midnight release events. But it was still ridiculously fun. I too grew up in Ohio, very small town Ohio. Some of my best memories of my youth were made at that broken down cinema.
One of the most underrated sequels to me. I just like the ambitious feel and dark tone. Perhaps two and three could have been standalones, but Dead Mens Chest is a fantastic experience.
I wish people would stop lying to themselves, Dead man’s chest and at worlds ends, is by far some of the best sequels you will ever see. They actually were well written despite what you feel about them with their flaws. 🤯🤯🤯🤯
I enjoy all of these movies. Yes, even 4 and 5. The adventures for each are interesting, I like having a morally gray protagonist, Jack, who is self serving but will do right by people, most of the time. We probably won't get more of that for a very long time
Dead Man’s Chest and At World’s End are regarded as “less than” Curse of the Black Pearl by many which I’ll never understand. The entire trilogy is masterful, quirky, beautiful, dark, and widely entertaining. I even personally prefer Dead Man’s Chest over Black Pearl. The stakes are higher, each of our protagonist’s get more depth, the villain is fascinating, and the sets are some of the greatest to grace the silver screen. This trilogy was my generation’s Star Wars and it’s been very interesting to see it come more to light as we’ve entered adulthood.

I LOVE THE PIRATES SEQUELS! So happy to see Chris talking about them.
My absolute favorite of the saga!
This is my favorite in the franchise
The kraken theme and Davy Jinrs has been part of my soul since 2006
You're so cool to review this now I'm definitely watching again.
I’d say that it’s quite the coincidence to see this just a day or so after rewatching it, but this film plays multiple times a year at our house. Everyone loves it. Probably my favourite POTC film.
Ill never forget seeing this opening weekend. that reveal at the end is still a top 10 theater moment.
I might be commenting too late for this to be seen but I'm really enjoying the new Feature Presentation series. I always look forward to the next one.
When the organ starts playing when rthe Kracken finally destories that boat will forever be epic
Love seeing this movie get appreciation! Was about 10 when this came out and was blown away. Still remember wearing the Key from the happy meal toys around my neck hahaha thanks for the video
the wheel fight scene is one of the best in cinema!
Can’t believe you didn’t mention the music and aesthetics, during the scene where Davie Jones is playing piano in his ship cathedral.
One of the many things I love about this movie is that it was shot on location, no green screen, and it shows, they actually built all those ships
Pirates 2 is an incredible movie, and is always overlooked as one of the best sequels ever made!
10 minutes doesnt scratch the surface to how deep this movie is
Thank you for this comment 🙌
Damn... seeing that movie ticket for less than $9 is wild. Feels like you have to take out a small business loan to go to the movies nowadays lol
Especially with kids!
Elizabeth pretending to be a ghost is handly a subplot lol, its one scene
Amazing! I love that the trilogy as a whole gets recognized more now! Please do At World's End too
The "Midnight release" showing of this film is one of my fondest young adult memories.
Thank you. Finally!!
This is the empire strikes back for the pirates films. Dark, bold, different, and a huge cliffhanger.
I literally just finished the first three movies, that’s some crazy timing for you to visit this
I wish there were more films with wooden man-o-war type sailing ships and cannon battles...the're so rare.
Love your unique style, never change!
We probably won't get more of that for a very long time
My favorite of the franchise, I miss Gore Verbinski. At a time when bigscale films were actually "blockbusters"
One of the greatest sequels ever made.
Love these man, pls keep them coming! Also, thanks for your advice on better help, it's really helping!
Damn it now I have to rewatch them all lol. Huge fan of your work Chris.sending love from Florida 🙏🏽
I've been waiting patiently with bated breath for Gore Verbinski's next film and I'm glad to see that it's finally happening.
I totally see why you chose the Ace Ventura shirt for this video. Is it a nod to 'When Nature Calls' based on this part? 5:22 😉
I randomly break out a Captain Jack Sparrow run atleast once every day
You know how kids in the 80s in 90s talked about “Temple of Doom.” As “The Bad One!”
That was “Dead Man’s Chest” for me.
Love this feature presentation review absolutely
The unique style continues to be awesome
I remember seeing the cliffhanger in the theater.
Everyone, and I mean everyone, gasped.
The cliffhanger was far better than the cliffhanger at the end of Infinity War
Even I saw this and went 'he didn't do this one??' a nice surprise on my tl
