I just walked in to the TSA pre enrollment center on Monday, waited for like 10 minutes, and today I got my KTN in my email.~~ yay~~~ Thx for your video~
Rebecca……. Thank you for the very informative video. I have Global Entry which worked great for our international travel. Question: Which number do I use to make sure that “PRE CHECK” is printed on boarding passes? On the back of the card, there is a PASSID number on the left side and another number on the right side. Left side number or right side number? Thank you.
This video was very helpful. You answered the major question that I had: Do I need TSA Precheck with Global Entry? You said that if I get Global Entry , I automatically get TSA Precheck. Now I need to know how I would acquire a "Known Traveler Number". Thanks Eugene
Once you go through the approval process of Global Entry they will assign you a "Known Traveler Number." You can now take that number and submit it to your airline website in your profile. That will store it so you have it automatically applied to any airline ticket you book. Hope that answers your question.
Global Entry cards can be used as an ID when going through the Airport check in and security process. This is important as these cards are REAL ID compliant as states are slowly moving towards certification.
Michael Horgan Yeah man thank you no one talks about how a global entry card is real ID I can get you in to federal buildings in into military bases no one else also talks about using Nexus lanes or Sentry lanes went driving by ground they just always talk about the cost
Not all Airlines have TSA Pre-check available. I'm a certified travel agent. Priority lane is being given to those you have it but mind you, airport officers would still scrutinize you if they see something suspicious on you.
This is very helpful, good job!I found that others get a sticker on their passports also. I entered my KTN number online in my airline ticket.Just to add, the membership also requires that you activate it online after you received the card. It is indicated in the letter that came with the card.
As a non-English speaker , I really enjoy your video , cuz you are not speaking fast like native-speaker, and the people doesn’t need to pay lots of attention to listen what you saying . Anyway I like your all videos.
Honestly, just get Global Entry. It's only $3 more a YEAR than PreCheck, and in addition to getting PreCheck benefits, you can also use the NEXUS and SENTRI lanes when returning from Canada and Mexico.
It’s not that simple. For SENTRI lanes like the other person said you need to register your vehicle and pay extra. For the NEXUS lanes if you only have GLOBAL ENTRY then the card only works heading back to the US. You still need to go through Canadian customs with your passport book, passport card or enhanced DL like everyone else. And if anyone in your party doesn’t have a trusted traveler card valid in the country you’re visiting just head for the normal customs lanes (but those traveling with their TT cards are still welcome to use them to cross the border by land)
Get Global Entry and pay the extra $15. It will pay off even if you travel out of the country one time. If you have a felony you will not be approved and you don't get a refund on your $100. If you were arrested you possibly can get your Global Entry but might have to wait an extra 3 months like I did. Also when in your interview, if you make it that far, don't lie about past arrests, misdemeanors etc, cause the interviewer is looking at your whole life on his/her computer.
Rebecca, GREAT video...that certainly helped! But I am still wondering...we go to Canada at least once a year and travel domestically, too. The Global Entry is $100, the NEXUS is $50, they are both 5 year plans and include TSA PreCheck. Wouldn't it be better for us to get NEXUS, since it's $50 less and includes the same as GE, with the TSA PreCheck? If I am flying domestically, still, I'd be able to use my NEXUS for TSA PreCheck, even though I'm not flying to Canada? I'm having a hard time finding that answer on all the TSA pages . And lastly, if the flight is in the future and it's already booked, can I go back to the agent and have them add the KTN? I look forward to your feedback on both.
Don't quote me on this, but I believe that the "Known Traveler Number" would be the same if you get NEXUS with Pre-Check. You might want to double check or call your local office. And to answer the second part of your question, if you have a ticket already booked, you can go into your profile on the airline website and make the changes in your profile. They will prompt you to add your "KTN" there. Let me know if you any other questions!
+Ed H if you travel regularly to and from Canada, it's better to get NEXUS than to get Global Entry. NEXUS is CDN $50 or US $50 (depending on whether you're a Canadian or a US Citizen). Just like Global Entry contains all the benefits of TSA Precheck, NEXUS contains all the benefits of Global Entry. So when you get NEXUS, you also get Global Entry AND TSA Precheck, for half the price of Global Entry! Such a bargain! As far as I can tell, yes, you can use your NEXUS card at the Global Entry kiosks domestically as well as when you're traveling to/from Canada but don't quote me on that. Also, if you booked the flight already, you can go back and add your KTN to the booking. If in doubt, call up the airline to tell them that you have gotten a KTN in the time since you've made the booking and could they please add it? There are only three downsides to NEXUS. One, because it's a program run jointly by the Canadian government and the US government, you have to do TWO interviews on the same day, one with the Canada Border Services Agency people and one with the US Customs & Border Protection people. Which leads to the second downside: unlike Global Entry, where you can conduct the in-person interview at most major US airports across the country, you gotta conduct the in-person NEXUS interview at locations close to the Canadian border, like Blaine WA or Niagara Falls NY. So you have fewer options of where to do the interviews. The third downside is that while the US CBP just take your fingerprints, the CBSA also take your scans of your iris! That creeps me out a little bit! LOL
jalabi99 I have a Nexus card and let my passport expire because once I show it they never ask for my passport. I am taking a flight out of LGA in New York using my KTN on my ticket for TSA pre, I called my airline and asked them if I need my passport still since I'm flying to Canada. They think it should be ok since I already put my KTN number on my ticket. Have you experienced a flight from USA to Canada only using Nexus at TSA pre, and did it work? Thanks.
I think she looked hotter with longer hair. Also interesting how she used to talk this and now pivoted to talk about issues regarding dating and relationships.
Had Global. Came up for renewal and I did all the paperwork and submitted for my interview. Instead of scheduling my interview, I was emailed and told to just drop in after any international flight and my interview could be done without a reservation. Well, with Covid, there wasn't a time when I travelled internationally. Instead of giving me a scheduled interview, they did nothing and kept all my application fees. Not cool. The system does not work very well.
I still have a question. I am flying in 2 days. If I go to the appt. for face-to-face interview today, can I use it for the trip I have booked for 2 days from today? Everyone talks about the wait time for the appt. but what about the wait time to get your ktn?
Kim Watkins yes if you go to the face to face and get your Known traveler number then yes. A lot of the locations don’t have the same turn around time. If your location is saying they can do the face to face today then go for it.
Rebecca Lima: Do you think is it worth it to have Global entry for non regular traveler? Does Global entry work for both domestic and international traveler? Thanks
So I believe it's worth getting Global Entry even if you only take one international trip a year or within the 5 year period. It will pay for itself in the price difference. You will automatically get TSA precheck if you have Global Entry, it doesn't work the other way around so 15 dollars more can save you in the end. Hope this helps!
It is not worth it for a non-regular or infrequent traveler. This program is searching for a purpose. All it does is take a few minutes off the time it takes you to go through customs and immigration because the line is shorter. If you don't travel a lot then why is this such an issue? The pre-check is useful, again, if you travel a lot. If you don't travel much by plane then why not save your money.
i am travel to the UK however i don't travel lot ,.. do i HAVE to pay $$$ for either of the Global Entry,. TSA PreCheck,.. or just wait in line instead and avoid the cost i rather do ???
LadyGG Smith great question. If you are traveling soon then you won't be able to apply for either fast enough. If you are interested in getting the service later on for another trip, I would suggest doing it then. Just try to get to the airport anywhere from 2-3 hours early if you are flying internationally this summer. Hope this helps :)
Question: when purchasing an airline ticket as a GE member, does the tsa pre check logo automatically appear on your boarding pass? Are additional steps needed?
Ok, so I'm confused now. Some sites and posts by people say that Global Entry do not include TSA Precheck. Rather, it makes you eligible to receive TSA Precheck but it's not guaranteed. Others say that Global Entry DOES come with TSA Precheck. Can you verify?
Did you go for your in person interview? If that's the case, they will mail you your card. If you were approved online, the next step is the in person interview.
+Fred Medina 0609370 what do you mean by people get selected for pre check? Yes, once you are approved you go through pre check. I'm not sure about the cruise part. You can check the website for that detail. I'm sure you can because its border control which doesn't only apply to air travel. I would double check about that but I'm pretty sure it would work
I believe Global Entry is not yet approved for cruises. I believe there might be a trial at a cruise port, but perhaps eventually it will be available at all ports.
Whatever_9282 months ago+Rebecca Lima I've been traveling allot recently. Not international more so domestic. I wanna buy the global entry but I've see a one reviews where People say they only get "selected" sometimes for the pre check? Isn't it once your approved your good to go through tsa pre check every time ?
If you get global entry you will automatically have TSA Precheck. You will need to register your "known traveler" number with the airlines you use in your profile section.
waggla05 it works if you you are coming into the US with global entry. Not going into Mexico or Canada. Those are ad ons but that's if you travel frequently to Canada and Mexico
The 'selection' you're asking about has nothing to do with the pre-check program. The ad hoc selection for TSA Pre check has been going on for years with 'selected' passengers going through the less intense security lines. I don't know the criteria they use to select these individuals. If you enroll and are approved for the Global Entry / TSA Pre-Check 'program' then you will get pre-check every time you go through the security line.
Will you be approved for TSA precheck before you have your global entry interview? There is a 6 month wait for the global entry interview but I am leaving out of country next month.
The website says that global entry is also offered to nationals of 11 other countries. www.cbp.gov/newsroom/national-media-release/cbp-announces-expansion-global-entry-indian-citizens
I made an appointment for TSA precheck appointment and on my confirmation page it said, "be finger printed." Does that mean I have to be finger printed and bring it to the appointment? Or will I be finger printed there? Thanks!
I work at the Airport, I talked to some TSA agents about pre-check, they said I wont get pre-check ALL the time. Is that true? Paying $85 for 5yrs is a deal since I fly 2-3 times a yr.
Yes, that is true. Despite the fact that you have paid for the service and put in your KTN correctly, you're not guaranteed it on every flight. Has Rebecca said, NOT ALL AIRLINES PARTICIPATE WITH PRECHECK. Find out if the airline you are flying with participate in the precheck program before you fly so you won't be surprised when you arrive at the airport.
That is true and that is the risk BUT if you have an airline credit card or AMEX card and pay for the $85 for PreCheck or the $100 for Global, then they will reimburse you that charge... so essentially it would be free. So you can try it that way as well. If not, and you only fly 2-3 times a year maybe sticking it out too bad.
Applying for TSA PreCheck is a longer process than you think. Some offices are backed up for a couple months. I would get your application started regardless but depending when your trip is you might not be able to be able to use it for this one. But with that all being said, after you get TSA Precheck you just apply it to your airline profiles. Hope that helps!
HEY questions So I just finished my application and filled out everything 1. If the application had some errors with my address but It's spelled t way on my gov. Issued ID will this hinder my application? 2. Global Entry will include TSA Pre-Check right? 3. If I'm denied can I apply again?
1) I don't believe it will hinder your application, no. 2) once you get Global entry you will get a "traveler ID number" that number you are going to put on your airline profiles. Make sure to save it on all major airlines so you can get PreCheck. 3) they will give you a reason why you were denied. You will have to double check on the website to see if you can apply again. I want to say yes, but you will have to double check. Hope this helps
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I just wanna be sure i get it and not waste $100 but since my dresses are a but flimsy not because of me but thats how their are spelled on my Gov. Issued ID's IDK if they'll like deny them or something. TSA PRE CHECK IS INCLUDED WITH GLOBAL ENTRY, correct?
+Rebecca Lima I've been traveling allot recently. Not international more so domestic. I wanna buy the global entry but I've see a one reviews where People say they only get "selected" sometimes for the pre check? Isn't it once your approved your good to go through tsa pre check every time ?
Whatever_928 if you apply through TSA or border patrol then yes you will get it a major airports. You have to submit your "known traveler id" number into the airline websites when you book your flights
Yes, you will just have to put in your "known traveler ID" through the airline website or when you get to the airport you can check in and add it there either through the kiosk or the agent. If you haven't applied yet, most likely you won't receive it before your trip unless your trip is many months away. Let me know if this helps!
Thanks! Our trip is not until November so I'm hoping we have enough time. I'm excited to actually try global entry/TSA precheck with my wife. We'll probably catwalk our way in, lol!
Yeah, they really got their shit together. They put the wrong picture on my wife's ID. When she called in they were like. It doesn't matter, they never check the ID.
Children under 12 can go on the Tsa precheck line with parents for free, but it looks like children need their own global entry, I wish they had a family package
Rebecca Lima We travel a lot, but wished that my 3 yr old daughter could at least get 50% off on the global entry, since we travel internationally at least 1-2 times a year, but it might be well worth it to get it, thanks for you informative video
That's awesome to hear! So after you get your card, you will have a "Known Traveler" number. You will want to input that number into your airline travel profile when you book your tickets. TSA precheck only applies to larger airlines like: AeroMexico, Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American, Delta, Etihad, Hawaiian, Jet Blue, Southwest, Sun Country, United, Virgin America, and WestJet.
ieon you will need to take your "known traveler number" that you receive after you've been accepted into Global Entry and submit that number into your airline profiles. That's how you get TSA pre check with the airlines. Note: not all airlines or airports have TSA pre so you need to check before your flights. Most large carriers aka: delta, united, AA, southwest all have TSA pre check so if you are flying those you will automatically get pre check if you input that known traveler id into your airline profiles
I recommend playing this video at 1.25x speed

Whatever_9282 months ago+Rebecca Lima I've been traveling allot recently. Not international more so domestic.
I wanna buy the global entry but I've see a one reviews where People say they only get "selected" sometimes for the pre check? Isn't it once your approved your good to go through tsa pre check every time ?
If you get global entry you will automatically have TSA Precheck. You will need to register your "known traveler" number with the airlines you use in your profile section.
Rebecca Lima does this work in every country I just Mexico and Canada?
waggla05 it works if you you are coming into the US with global entry. Not going into Mexico or Canada. Those are ad ons but that's if you travel frequently to Canada and Mexico
Rebecca Lima thank you Rebecca 👌
The 'selection' you're asking about has nothing to do with the pre-check program. The ad hoc selection for TSA Pre check has been going on for years with 'selected' passengers going through the less intense security lines. I don't know the criteria they use to select these individuals. If you enroll and are approved for the Global Entry / TSA Pre-Check 'program' then you will get pre-check every time you go through the security line.
Will you be approved for TSA precheck before you have your global entry interview? There is a 6 month wait for the global entry interview but I am leaving out of country next month.
No, you have to get approved and have completed your interview before you get your number to use.
Is Global Entry available at cruise ports for cruises that leave the US?
Only Fort Lauderdale has Global Entry at this time.
Good vid, thanks
You're welcome.
How is it that I get TSA Precheck with Global entry?
Hi, do I need to be a US citizen to apply to the GE program?
I believe so, but you could probably check on their website www.cbp.gov
The website says that global entry is also offered to nationals of 11 other countries.
www.cbp.gov/newsroom/national-media-release/cbp-announces-expansion-global-entry-indian-citizens
no ... permanent residents also can have it ... plus residents of another 11 countries ...
I made an appointment for TSA precheck appointment and on my confirmation page it said, "be finger printed." Does that mean I have to be finger printed and bring it to the appointment? Or will I be finger printed there? Thanks!
finalorbit it means you will be finger printed there.
Thank you!
Thank you!
I work at the Airport, I talked to some TSA agents about pre-check, they said I wont get pre-check ALL the time. Is that true? Paying $85 for 5yrs is a deal since I fly 2-3 times a yr.
eph elle some airport terminals don't, it depends on the airport and carrier. Big airlines offer pre check
Yes, that is true. Despite the fact that you have paid for the service and put in your KTN correctly, you're not guaranteed it on every flight. Has Rebecca said, NOT ALL AIRLINES PARTICIPATE WITH PRECHECK. Find out if the airline you are flying with participate in the precheck program before you fly so you won't be surprised when you arrive at the airport.
thanks guys...
Even if you have it, you may sometimes get "randomly" pulled aside for a more thorough check.
Can you add global entry if you have tsar pre check?
Elm Ross no, only global entry will automatically give you tsa pre check
You automatically get tsa precheck if you have global entry?
If I already bought my airline ticket, can I apply for TSA PreCheck and add it too my boarding pass?
Applying for TSA PreCheck is a longer process than you think. Some offices are backed up for a couple months. I would get your application started regardless but depending when your trip is you might not be able to be able to use it for this one. But with that all being said, after you get TSA Precheck you just apply it to your airline profiles. Hope that helps!
hello Rebecca can I travel wit prescribed Xanax to other countries ?
You will have to check on the TSA website. If it's prescribed, it's usually not a problem. You just have to double check.
thank you very clear!
HEY questions
So I just finished my application and filled out everything
+Whatever_928 (whatever_928) no, it works the opposite way. Global entry you only have TSA PreCheck not the other way around
So like im applying for my global entry card paying $100, that does include tea pre check right?
+Whatever_928 (whatever_928) yes it does
I should have got global entry dang… I just got tsa and had no idea about global entry. Now if I get GE I’m literally paying double… smh
Do you have global entry?
Yes, I personally have global entry because I travel out of the country frequently.
You have to submit your "known traveler id" number into the airline websites when you book your flights
i got approved now have to wait for my next travel and ill tell you how it worked for me lol! thanks!
So, I already bought my tickets, can I still apply for global entry/tsa precheck and use it on that upcoming trip?
Yes, you will just have to put in your "known traveler ID" through the airline website or when you get to the airport you can check in and add it there either through the kiosk or the agent.
If you haven't applied yet, most likely you won't receive it before your trip unless your trip is many months away. Let me know if this helps!
Thanks! Our trip is not until November so I'm hoping we have enough time. I'm excited to actually try global entry/TSA precheck with my wife. We'll probably catwalk our way in, lol!
Global entry gets precheck. NEXUS gets Global Entry. I’ll take NEXUS thank you very much :)
NEXUS is great if you live by the Canadian Border. The rest of us will have to be satisfied with Global Entry, haha.
You can have both GE and NEXUS! :O
Yeah, they really got their shit together. They put the wrong picture on my wife's ID. When she called in they were like. It doesn't matter, they never check the ID.
Thank you Lear
Thank you!
I wish I saw this video before applying for TSA PRE. What a waste of money. I should of gotten Global Entry
It's alright, if you don't travel international much you should be ok.
Children under 12 can go on the Tsa precheck line with parents for free, but it looks like children need their own global entry, I wish they had a family package
I didn't know that, thanks for letting the group know.
Rebecca Lima We travel a lot, but wished that my 3 yr old daughter could at least get 50% off on the global entry, since we travel internationally at least 1-2 times a year, but it might be well worth it to get it, thanks for you informative video
@@artsoto137 I know, you would think they would have a program in place for that.
It’s helpful
very glad to hear that.
It cost $85 Dallas just to get our tax paying TSA to do their jobs. that's why I don't travel much. I just moved to Brazil and stayed.
I got approved for my Globle Entry , after I get the card , do I have to register TSA ? Or when I travel just show them the card ?
That's awesome to hear! So after you get your card, you will have a "Known Traveler" number. You will want to input that number into your airline travel profile when you book your tickets. TSA precheck only applies to larger airlines like: AeroMexico, Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American, Delta, Etihad, Hawaiian, Jet Blue, Southwest, Sun Country, United, Virgin America, and WestJet.
hey rebecca quick question can global entry person can use the TSA pre check lane? or not?
ieon you will need to take your "known traveler number" that you receive after you've been accepted into Global Entry and submit that number into your airline profiles.
Now it make sense now. thank you very much for your help I really appreciate it.. ✌
Você é brasileira?
Pre check this year is 78 dollars
TSA Pre-Check is now $70
Really
Rebecca you are beautiful.
Thanks! Hope you liked the video
+Rebecca Lima Yes i did. thank you for your tips and advice.
No prob! That's what I'm here to do! :)
...do you have a tongue piercing?
Good information!
