First Class is the closest X-men movies got to the spirit of the original comics while also making it a great drama and action movie. Gets way too little credit.
Of course magneto is "villainous" he survived be persecuted during ww2 and even after he had to suffer persecution for being a mutant... The line "I've been at the mercy of men just following orders. Never again." is understandable
Magneto doesn't consider himself as a villain after the purges committed by the Nazis he feels it is his responsibility to keep mutants safe by preventing normal humans from killing them off. He feels disconnected from normals and slowly comes to despise them.
"I wonder what happened to Hank?" We actually saw him in X-Men III:The Last Stand. He was the blue guy working with the president. "I wonder what happened to Moira? " we actually saw her in X-Men III: The Last Stand. In the aftercredit scene.
I love how Magnetos revenge and war has repercussions on Charles. He definitely felt the coin go through his mind and ended up taking a bullet to the back. Yet Professor X never shows hatred to him, because he always understands him
Charles was unable to enter and control Erik's mind because of the powers-deadening effects of the helmet. Sure, I get that. But feeling the coin? How? For what reason would Charles need to enter Stanley's mind, and therefore 'feel' the coin too? Perhaps if Charles was attempting to 'puppet' Stanley in order to talk Erik out killing? But there was no indication that this was the case. Anyway, wouldn't Charles have immediately 'sensed' that Stanley was 'frozen'?
The first time I watched this, I didn't know it was the same character until his attempted cure backfired and turned him into Beast. Then I immediately recognized him from X-Men 3: The Last Stand.
This is how Charles lost his legs it was tragic. He lost his best friend and lost his sister. But this was a great origin story of how the X-Men first started it all.
Did you just not realize that charles felt that coin moving through his brain? You were only saying you were happy for magneto while he was actively 'killing' charles.
The thing is that the brain doesn't have any pain receptors, meninges (coverings around the brain), periosteum (coverings on the bones), and the scalp all have pain receptors so Charles would feel it entering and exiting but while the coin was in the brain there would be no additional pain only entry wound and exit wound. He could probably feel his brain shutting down and Shaw disappearing while coin was moving through the brain. That is why people who are having operation on their brain can stay awake during the procedure and one world class violinist was even playing violin while doctors operated on her brain to make sure that they didn't damage any brain part important for her skill. We are amazing.
The fact that you realized Erik is David in another movie but didn’t realize Hank/Beast is the same character in X-men 3 a film you just watched baffles me.
