Be careful with the vinegar in Dishwashers and washing machine. I researched vinegar and it said that it can damage the rubber and plastic parts of the machine.
True - check what the brand says about the % you can use 👍🏻 My dishwasher can handle vinegar under 10% or 12% (can't remember 😅), so I use regular 7% 👌🏻
I do a mini version of this whenever my clothes get stinky. I put 4 T borax in the drum with the clothes, detergent as normal, and fill the bleach and fabric softener dispensers with white vinegar. It's made SUCH a difference.
1 cycle clean: Borax and salt in the laundry soap row and vinegar in the softener row. Hot cycle and tumble dry. Your towels will be clean, fresh and soft.
I’ve never had smelly towels because I was taught to always wash them at min. 60 degrees Celsius. This will kill the bacteria that make the towels smell. The vinegar helps soften them though 🫶🏽
Vinegar has been a game changer in my laundry. I was scared at first everything would smell like vinegar. There IS a very slight smell after the wash, but absolutely no trace after the dryer. And everything is very clean. No residue. And the washer is cleaner too.
I think it should be the other way around, first baking soda with detergent to properly wash and remove the smell - including bacteria, then vinegar to disinfect and remove the odor that's left, plus a few traces of whatever it is - baking soda, detergent, etc. Also, to remove bacteria (causing the smell) a disinfectant should be used, if you wash under 60 degrees Celsius.
Gonna try this. I bought 2 plush towels at Walmart and no matter what I do they just smell bad. I washed and double rinse. It's not normal because none of the other towels have that smell. So I think it's the type of fabric.
For my towels I wash them on the sanity cycle. Its a long hot cycle. I use Gain and if they have been sat for a while or Im washing beach towel I add some oxiclean with odor blasters.
Has anyone had any problems with the seals in the washer breaking down after using vinegar? Our last washer had started leaving grease marks on my clothes, which is supposedly from a leaky seal, and I had read that vinegar could possibly break down the seals. So I have stinky towels but I'm terrified to use vinegar in my new machine 😬
I've read that if you're going to add vinegar, add it straight to the wash compartment (in with the towels), so it gets more diluted. But you could also treat the towels in a bucket in your sink, then add them to the washing machine after draining. I've also switched to a half amount of low suds detergent and added washing soda (half/half) and for me it's meant no more stinky towels. I haven't used fabric softener for years, but you could try cutting that too. Often I find it's detergent build up that contributes to the smell.
I use borax, soda with detergent. Vinegar in rinse, don't put softener very often. I used borax to soak diapers, it cut the stink! Haven't had any trouble with normal wash or washer stink.
All you need is a hot wash and a good detergent if you have smelly towels id look into why in the first place, washing machine needs cleaning? Or maybe you don't hang them up after using them? I've only ever had stinky towels with my old washer because it never got hot enough.
Get a top loader machine instead of front load. I had a front load and my workout clothes were always stinky. I tried various detergents etc then I decided to get a top load washer again and now no more stinky clothes. The front load washer was not cleaning my clothes. I also clean my top load and get some gunk but not mold like the front load one.
Also useful ideas for towels ( and anything what doesn’t feel fresh enough even after washing): 1. Clean your washing machine, and leave the door open ( lots if very useful videos and tutorials available) 2. Reduce the size of the load- especially, if you have HD washer, what operates with less water. 3. Use Keds detergent. Nowadays the detergents are great quality, no need to overdo it. I personally never use the suggested amount. 4. Don’t use add ons. The simple detergent is good enough, especially, if you do hot cycle. 5. Don’t necessarily ( always ) use softener- maybe just occasionally. It can build up. 6. Choose the SUN! Air drying can give an amazing scent, and it’s also sanitizing. Fresh laundry scent from nature! 7. Watch, where and how you store the towels and are they fully dry. Also can use dryer sheets between them ( sparsely ) or favorite soaps… to boosts their scent. 8. Don’t let pets sleeping on your freshly cleaned laundry 😉😆 ( I also prefer to separate my colored towels ) 9. On the long run, it helps if all the towels are immediately hung after use- there’s no time for anything to grow on them ( between the fibers ) if they are aired out and dried properly, between each use. 10. If you really want to be without problems, buy linen towels or use fabrics, like 100% cotton sheets- which has much less issues, especially when they are white; they are very absorbent and don’t have the frottier / terry texture- with all the fluffy problems. Flat surface materials easier to clean and keep clean. Good luck 👍
Because of chronic pain and the fact that I hang dry about 30% to 50% of my load could expect that when I don't hang right away the clothes could become stinky, they don't. I put about a cup of vinegar to disinfect every load after it had added the water. Also the softener I use disinfect one just need to hold the rinse cycle for about 15 minutes. I have left loads un hanged and wet for 2 days and on stinky laundry.
Thanks Melissa! Using vinegar in my front loader often releases a lot of built up gunk that might be on the rubberr seals and all the crevices I've had to work very hard to get stains out of clothes because of my front loader I really hate my front loader so many issues. Now I'm constantly going with a paper towel after every load and getting any gunk I can get up so it doesn't ruin my clothes.I clean the filter& have always left the door wide open after every load. Anyone else with this issue?? Chad you have a very beautiful wife there 😃
Perhaps the issue is that your machine doesn’t run a hot cycle often enough? A washing machine maintenance guy once told me to run a 90 degree Celsius cycle min. once a month to release the calcium build up inside the machine, and keep it smelling fresh. If you wash all your towels and bedding at 60 degrees Celsius your machine won’t stink. Hope that helps 😊
If you keep towels a long time, they can get an odor. What kind of water you have plays a part too, even if you hang them to dry before putting in hamper.
It is absolutely amazing how many videos I see that show everyone using dishwasher pods and washing machine pods and the Wax scent beads…….😏 Don’t they understand that the plastic that covers those pods are detrimental to the washing machine and the Wax on scent beads will coat the outside drum of the washer,,….wellgezzzzzz..😏
I used vinegar with detergent, then baking soda, laundry soda and borax with detergent. Each time I let them soak. Also did a second rinse. It worked really well. 😊

Do you do this on dirty or clean towels??
I've always done baking soda in a warm soak cycle, then vinegar on cold, then a detergent wash.
I’ve never had smelly towels because I was taught to always wash them at min. 60 degrees Celsius. This will kill the bacteria that make the towels smell. The vinegar helps soften them though 🫶🏽

I don't use softener vinegar all day!!
i used vinager for years, now i have to repair my washer. it curoded parts of the inside of my washer
@@amc5936 out of curiosity do you have a HE washing machine?
Personally I've been using washing soda - only a small scoop approximately a tablespoon in with my laundry detergent.
How you do a video on maintenance for washer seals!
I swear your trending tips caused the price of vinegar to be more than bleach 😂
Right! Why is vinegar so expensive now??
@@eandm_creationsBidenNomics
Still waiting for the price to drop 😢

Does this help with pet towels too? I use a odor blaster and wash twice.(extra) Works great.
For my towels I wash them on the sanity cycle. Its a long hot cycle. I use Gain and if they have been sat for a while or Im washing beach towel I add some oxiclean with odor blasters.

Well no, but maybe just even so often might not hurt your washer.
I think ot loosens the grime, didnt realise it could be the greese, i sooo have this problem!!

@@sara_387 I do this too. Washing Soda or 20 Mule Team Borax works very well, no bad smells left either.

I agree that this will work well a question is what in the world did you do the towels to make them that smelly?
Lol
Pinesol works for odor too and the Pinalen pine as well
Can you talk for about sanitizing our laundry? And the machines?

Is this after the towels have been cleaned? If so, it's washing 3 times?
Hi can you do a video cleaning mould from washing machine seal front loader?
Are you using Hot or Cold water?
Always hot (min. 60 degrees Celsius). That’s the trick to always have fresh smelling towels 😊
Is this for towels that have already been washed but still smell bad?
Does this only work for towels ?
After those 2 cycles, do a detergent cycle?

With the laundry in it? Even baking soda?
I just use laundry liquid? One cycle required
Baking powder in the air

Stop using liquid detergent - start using a powder one. Makes a huge difference 😮
It can damage the washing machine
Why would your towels be stinky? Are you putting them away before they are completely dry?
If you keep towels a long time, they can get an odor. What kind of water you have plays a part too, even if you hang them to dry before putting in hamper.
My thought exactly.
Front loaders washers seem to have that problem.
Detergent build-up over time can cause towels to be stinky, even straight out of the wash. Possibly more an issue with front loaders.
Especially for those of us using non-perfumed laundry detergent

No they don't stink like vinager.
You probably have soap build up. Use vinegar in rinse water.
