Nice seeing Young people working these days and they did a awesome job building that hemi , I always watch powernation with pat and mike , if I ever wanted a engine built I would let them build it .
There was one student. The other techs are SAM Instructors.
Dont get me wrong with this comment . Its awesome the power these modern cars engines produce but there is still nothing like the sound of a old school naturally aspirated engine. With a big cam and full exhaust.
A Challenger SRT 392, to me, just BEGS to be built as a rev-crazy monster.
I too was disappointed that they chose a small cam and boost, rather than all out NA
They spent $4000 on rocker arms but went with an Edelbrock SC instead of a Whipple? That beast can do a lot more than 780hp. They built a helluva engine, it's just bottle necked.
Most likely a sponsorship (free) part
Hope the RPM act gets passed to protect our sport and parts
You live in California,
😂😂😂 Maxine, Pelosi
Stroked and blown lol
This is how I'm trying to live life 😂😂😂
Finally! 7:00 "Once reaching the first click on the wrench, STOP" It drives me crazy when someone double clicks the torque wrench. I got my rear end handed to me by our instructor for doing the double click thing. His reason was twofold. First accuracy and because of the reason I gave him that I wanted to make sure I actually got it to click the first time he chewed on me for not having any confidence in myself.
Who's your instructor, is he a top engine builder or not?
Two clicks, I don’t care what you or any instructor or pro thinks.
Ah, love the sweet roar of a Hemi in the morning.
Those cylinder head are way overkill for the cam there using. And the”Race only supercharger” can only max at 700hp why not put a Whipple over 1000 easy 1200 on race gas.
Because they build it to last. Not just for fun over the weekend
Because I’m sure edelbrock supplies the supercharger for free.
Its not really a overkill cause then again its a 7liter stroker it breaths way more air
Who really needs more than 700hp on the street? Hell 500 is sufficient for a fun street car as long as you have the torque to back it up.
Seriously though that blowers going to make 8lbs of boost on the smallest pulley with those heads 😂
That edelbrock supercharger is grossly undersized for this combo. Hands down the limiting factor in this situation. A 3+ liter whipple would be way better for heads that flow that much.
This video sure opened me up to how great theses engines can be🏁
What an awesome video. Thx for sharing.
Excellent engine build!
At the end of the video, notice that hemi valve covers are selling for $1000 and you can get aftermarket cylinder heads for a small block Chevy for $600… I see that it’s still more expensive to build mopar Hemi…
Mopar mopower baby
@@markoz673bajen8 - That engine is weak. 780 HP out of a 426ci engine with ported heads, cams and a blower pushing 8+ pounds on race gas? 🤣🤣🤣. A bone stock 300ci Coyote with oil pump gears only can easily make 800+ HP with a good blower.
@@danmyers9372 lets see it
@@antilaw9911 That's true. Ford Modular 4Vs make that power and they are 4.6l. 2003 Cobra with a Whipple blower swap on E85 makes that. That's a lot of money for that engine to only make nearly 800 hp. The new Coyote's can do that power on pump gas. Check out Whipple's site.
@@frankmc5112 Yeah and all Coyote's sound like shit. So I'll spend a bit more on a Hemi and enjoy the soundtrack. But that's just me. A Coyote is also an DOHC, 32 V completely modern V8 with direct and port injection. The DOHC setup gives it quite the breathing advantage over an old school pushrod engine like an LS or Hemi.
The Modular 4V's ain't bad but I'd still rather have an LS or Hemi. Just never been a Ford guy I guess. I'd take a Boss 302 or a 5.0 HO anyday of the week though. Legendary.
I love seeing young kids into this industry. Its amazing. My kids see me working crazy long hours yet they only care about tik tok, xbox, etc. They have dirt bikes and quads (they are 9,6, and about a yr n a half. Not talkong about the baby obviously lol) i wish they would get tf outside!
you are the parent. you have direct influence over this. get tf outside? well, u need to take them.
You need to give them some direction. Kids can be productive too
@Justin Schooler you need to teach them that it is a tool(an extremely powerful one) and how to use it. if they are young enough u can throttle down how much of it they use and again teach them how to use it. they need to understand that most of social media is phony.
but again this goes with my first post. YOU are the parent. YOU set the standard.
@Justin Schooler when i deal with kids on a daily basis, and these same kids talk to me before their parents i think i can easily speak on the subject.
the trick is you need to be informed on their world. when my aunt just recently started using youtube she is not equipped to deal with her grandkids internet usage. but when i know what streamer the kid watches and what games he plays he is less hesitant to listen to me cause he knows i understand what hes dealing with which makes it easier for me to steer him in terms of content and usage. when i tell him something is phony hes more likely to say "ok he knows about this stuff" instead of "hes old he doesnt understand".
again, its about effort.
I tried to get my stepson to go out with me fishing and hunting when he was younger. All he wanted to do was play video games. Now he's out of school and works at Sheetz convenience store still playing video games. He doesn't want anything out of life. My wife babies him way too much. And now her daughter is the exact same way.
Wow one of the best over the top episodes yet ! Heart and soul! Thanks!
Now just need to drop that in my Midnite express pick up
I LOVE IT!!!! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE INVOLVED IN THIS ENGINE BUILD!!!! A TOTALLY AWESOME DAILY DRIVER MOTOR!!!! A GREAT JOB BY EVERYONE!!!!
Awesome great job guys!
Congrats on the ONE MILLION mark. 🎉
I wish this school was available when I was young. I would have thrived in an environment like this.
Extra cool to see these kids think and do! Salute!
K1 crank and rods, wiseco coated skirt piston, Jesel rockers, American racing 3.5in collector headers. This is a big money build.
We all win thanks to the school . Because all the men &women coming out as pro's and building great stuff. For all of us 👍👍👍
That would be so sweet sitting in my 2012 Ram!
I need that engine for my 2013 charger pursuit!
Congrats for 1mil
Good to see an oil pan gasket installed clean and dry...
Thats extreme power for such docile idle
mild cam, strong conpression ratio with mild boost.
People comparing this to hellcats and demons prob havent realized how old this build is
I would like to see yaa'll build a 270 hemi from the 50's with modern improvements!
This would be fun, but there are reportedly few aftermarket speed parts for those early Dodge Hemi engines. (I still gave you a thumbs up.)
Those serpentine belts are floating, flopping & slapping.
The tensioners aren't strong enough lol
Would love to see a converted fuel injection with morden real ivory and more instant pedal response for street use with out vapor lockup. Or summer heat driving issues.
Me too
Hello from down under. Love the videos.
Austraila?
Dodge did it with a 6.1 motor at 707 hp. A good tune and good exhaust made about 800 hp from a factory motor.
The Hellephant is 426CID and makes 1000hp.
Nice build!
Did you happen to use OR plug the cylinder oil squirters in this build?
That's pretty decent results. Built to live and a last.
@@bigboreracing356 Good to know
@@bigboreracing356 My 1975 318 had it's rebuild after 44 years. Maybe this modern Mopar will outlive you....
@@bigboreracing356 You just stated my point smart guy. BTW, there are tools still in use from the Henry Ford days. You think machines become useless? I'd like to see you build an engine comparable to the one on this video and explain it's build up. Maybe we can all see your mechanical expertise.
Who murdered that intake valve guide
Great job. What kind of torque wrench is that?
Interesting video. I guess this video was taped about a decade ago since I recognize those students from back then.
What's the tick down at idle? Valvetrain?
Sounds almost like spark knock but it goes away off idle.
I’ve been doing this since the 80s I train my daughter and she’s a Mopar girl just check out the videos
😁👍
The perfect Hemi
Makes me respect dodges effort just a little more
2:42 young Pat Topolinski 👋😁
Build them bad and keep them badass 🐱🐱👍😎hell ya!!!
"Stroked and blown" Nice
“FEED THE OIL TO THE LIPTER GALLEY” got it sir📝
Biggest engine I've ever seen in person was a 927ci v8 in a drag car, that sucker was nuts, i watched him run the 1/8 but on that strip he couldnt put all his power down
I would love to have access to the tools, parts and expertise in this shop. Sure makes wrenching look easy peasy.
Nice! And I'm not even a Chrysler kind of guy.
I love to drive by and set off Tesla car alarms with this beautiful hemi exhaust note

Where is Mike Galley now?
650 hp on 3 psi of boost is crazy on that 426
I'd love to see something like this but for a 68 440 from a charger rt

Nice valve covers at the end.....starting around 1k? Holy shit batman!
how would I want one of those for my Dodge Ram. 2012 sport I have it in my parking lot why? the cranksh was ruined just by knowing how to change it myself what a good job they did I congratulate you 😊😊😊
Opps. The depth of the oil pan pickup was wrong. He used one gasket width as a measurement then used 2 gaskets and a windage tray between the block and the oil pan.
@@bigboreracing356 Yep. If I remember the engine was tested to 6500 rpm. not as you say 9000+rpm... I agree with you. In the video they pointed out this adjustment then almost tripled the gasket thickness. I do not think it would make any difference on a 6500 rpm engine but I wonder if it is that critical on a 9000+ rpm engine?
@@bigboreracing356 and they aint getting to 9k rpms lol it dosent need to rev that high for hp itll get 1000hp rght around 7kish
what hemi was that 4 seconds into the video was that on your channel or was t not videoed
Sorry Jud. Their is such thing as an LS with aluminum block with reverse flow 2 valve per cylinder heads. Hemi cast iron block two spark plugs per cylinder with 6 bolt mains and cross flow heads 2 valve per cylinder with dual rocker shafts for more valve support higher RPM. Ford has overhead cams aluminum block with cross flow heads 4 valves per cylinder.
Wow nice engine!
The Helliphant
What year was the block used?
This does give me some really irresponsible ideas for my 6.1 Chrysler!
750 HP might be a little bit over the top for a street build, but around 500 sounds just about right 😁
Did you have to remove the piston squirters in order for that stroker kid to work?
Man makes me wanna do something with ith my stock 2015 Colorado 3.6 it makes feel like I'm the but of every joke lol maybe a 6.6 V8 should fit it
The extinct elephant lives again!
It’s a junior Hellcat!
Nope the hellcat is the junior compare to this 7liter hemi😂 with a better blower and reving it to 7k rpms would pass 1000hp easy
I'm sure its a great learning lesson for this student and maybe the engine costs less than a Hellephant but at the same displacement, the Hellephant is still making 1000hp....
How much did this all cost??? Part #'s for all parts used?
Atleast 15k
I wish someone would make a detailed step by step on stroking a 6.1 into a 426
working on one now.
2:41
Is that Pat?
Is it for sale
Christ, i wasn't aware the target demo was so low quality, an explanation how to use a torque wrench was necessary
6 bolt mains? Looks like 2 bolt studs with 2 cross bolts. ?
Linda's 'licensed to go 165-190' what does that mean? Licensed by who?
Hey uh let me get that engine😀
I’m gonna catch a lot of hell for saying this, but while this 426 is making decent power, 780hp is a disappointing number for what this combo is. Stock 6.4 hemis with a supercharger have been proven to make 800+ hp. That combo could make 1000+ reliably if it had a bigger cam to match the cylinder heads. Stock gen iii heads flow better than any stock LS or Coyote heads, which can support over 1000hp with boost. A bigger cam ground for a boost and more boost would turn that thing into an LS and Coyote killer. However, I’m not gonna let that take away from the fact that it was assembled very very well and I bet it’ll run forever like that
I think they reached the limits of the particular blower they were using. The head flow is there to make more power.
@@kurtpoblenz2741 very true. The Edelbrock superchargers are perfect for street builds which is what they were shooting for. With a whipple that thing would scream
Nice
Should have done a naturally aspirated 426 stroker
Make you that Power out of it with No turbo, No blower. No Nitrous.
Was it me or was that power kinda low 780 on race gas? that means 660 to the wheels and you would need race gas ? I have seen coyotes make 650 on pump and ls make 650 on pump
Not just you, that’s weak given everything in it. A bone stock Coyote with oil pump gears only can EASILY make 700+ on pump gas with a good blower. 800+ on race gas or E85.
Seems like getting a hellcat engine would be better bang for buck won’t take muck to make 800+ with it on 93 octane
👍👍👍👍👍
ok i got a question for powernation... at what point would would compression in a gasoline engine not need spark plugs like a diesel ... would that even work? and why would it be a bad thing? ... and ... are you willing to test it?
What’s the reason to not run spark plugs
@@1982MCI because
If they pulled that supercharger off and put a decent cam it would make the power na. Put a Whipple on it than let it eat...1200hp on pump it will do.
Yoda
Is that really a good result from a 427 with a supercharger and race gas?
For the boost level their running yes. But that motor has parts in it they could throw twice that or more!
@@denniswatkins4666 if I paid for that motor to be built, I would be very disappointed
@@Ausblack it depends on long do you want your motor to last between rebuilds and how the motor will be used. They put a supercharger rated for 700+hp, they could have gotten more if they put a bigger supercharger on it.
@@Ausblack you don't know what you are seeing. The engine has a small cam and they are only making 8-psi of boost. Clearly not a max effort. This engine could handle 20-psi easily and be making 1200hp.
@@baby-sharkgto4902 I'll take a Ford barra any day of the week over this boat anchor. For $12k I can have a motor that will pump out 1000hp for years

Nice commercial for that school
Not bad at all! Still makes less than a stock 6.2l hellcat redeye engine though
price??
15:40 oil leak
I would have preferred to see a NA street build
Hellcats have been out since 2015, how does a 426 with a bigger blower on race gas make less power?
Man, what would I have to do to go to that school 🤔
Not much, it’s easy to get in. I’m a student right now, if you can pass a simple mechanics test, you’ll fit right in.
Be able to pay the tuition fees, depending on the program you want to train in.
@@DerekHen Derek, can u make me an appointment with Kims guts? I'm willing to drill and tap.
@@DerekHen where is the school located at and how long are the courses typically? Thanks Derek?
@@1982MCI located in Houston, Tx. Block and head class are both 9 months each and then EFI and CNC are about 7 months each.
Why does decreasing the width of the pulley increase boost? Less slippage??
A smaller pulley means less time for a full rotation which means the supercharger is spinning faster which creates more boost.
@@Aduskett Oh, the diameter. I thought the guy was talking about the width. Thanks.
It’s spins the supercharger faster making more boost. It’s good to have a good cooling setup for it before you do it or you’ll have heat soaking issues.
