This is not a crate engine. This 528 is built by Nick's Garage.
The only way to do it
Definately Not a crate motor a real hemi.
You might have recieved the block in a crate but this was assembled by hand for goodness sake Make no mistake By the way it sounds great...
@@RonSales *Definitely
That is going to make a fun ride. I have a 521" SCJ in my 70 Cyclone. It is also not the Ford crate engine but built locally. It makes very similar numbers to what you got at similar RPM too. It could probably be easily improved to over 700hp with a bigger cam than the 239@.050 hydraulic roller in it but this 4000 lb beast will already light up the tires just goosing it at 60k. I have always been more into higher RPM and smaller cubes but an extra 100 cubes that runs on 94 octane Chevron and makes low RPM power like that is the way to go. If I putt around the gas mileage isn't even too bad.
I see 528 reasons why I'm here, plus Nick and the crew! Mopar Or No Car!!
We're glad you are with us, Anthony.
I love how Nick still gets so excited when he hits the numbers he predicts! This engine has enough torque to rotate the earth!
If an engine makes 600 ft lbs of torque, that means it is usually capable of 600 hp if the engine has the breathing ability through the intake and exhaust. This cool engine appears to be a little short on flow through the cyl heads and exhaust for the bigger cubes.... but great for street engine fun.
Enough torque to restart a dead Planet!!
@@themysterycook7320.....hail the hemi- torque monster......no offense to the rat and ford lovers.......
That's amazing, it must get at least three gallons per mile, and a huge smile the whole time....
I've never seen a big block run so smooth at rpm. This barely shook the springs, amazing!
Less comments from your helper! I enjoy hearing Professor Nick, more!
My absolute favorite car channel. I've always been a Mopar man.
Right on!
Nick and his garage make Mondays bearable
Do love these videos
Thanks Dave.
These gentlemen work great together. This episode is great. Thanks Nick and crew.
What is the name of the new guy? I like his experience
Good vibe with you and the new guy 👍. Very enjoyable watching.
I believe his name is Siyad (spelling ?)
For me as fun as it is to watch Mic dyno these motors today for me was seeing how happy and relaxed he was thru out the whole show .
I thank you for the love Nik and all your people that make it possible .
A Hemi last Monday, and now a 528 Hemi on the Dyno. I know this baby is going to make well over 630 HP. Let her rip Nick, I'm anxious to see what numbers you can make. Here we go!!!
Thanks for joining us again, Eugene. Here we go!
hello Eugene hope all is well with you
we are getting more snow tonight and they are forecasting rain tomorrow
@@NicksGarage Another fantastic video George. I loved the intro, simply amazing. I just love seeing Nick in the Dyno room, where he is absolutely in his element. The numbers aren't quite there yet, but the fine tuning will produce the numbers that I know will be there. I'm already looking forward to seeing the final numbers this torque-monster will produce on the Dyno.
@@danohstoolbox Hi danoh, all is good here. Snow and rain is never a good combination. Hope that all is well with you and your family.
@Eugene Castles I am doing good can't wait for the good weather got loads of projects to get to
Goood evening guys!!!!! Over 600 hp and 650+ lb-ft of torque, and he’s STILL TUNING IT!!!! If Nick drops this in Kowalski, it’ll be pleading for mercy!!!! Great vid as always: George, you are SECOND TO NONE!!!! Great week guys!!!!
Right on!
That would be gross hp it looks and not net hp?
I’m so impressed with the fact that you know so much about Mopar engineering ! I know it’s none of my business Nick , but can you please ballpark a price to build an engine like this ?
Shayad is a great addition to the shop and show.
And it is hard to keep up with Nick!
Yep gotta great head on his shoulders, as we say in Australia. Really sharp and gives great feedback and ideas.
George...I've been a subscriber for several years now. Your editing skills have just gotten better and better. Great visuals.
Thanks 👍
Don’t forget the music, he plays music from all different types.
George is Continually improving production value What you say is absolutely true!
Sure wish I was a wrench on the wall in that shop. Simply beautiful to watch an artist work. Thanks for what you do George and thanks for sharing your knowledge and shop Nick!!!!❤
My earliest childhood memories are all of Mopars.
I went with my dad to pick up our '65 Dodge Polara from Spitzer Dodge in Akron Ohio.
On the way home dad opened the 383 up all the way to 100 mph and I've been hooked ever since.
I've always wanted a Hemi car but it hasn't happened.
I really respect your knowledge and passion for these cars and I enjoy watching your dyno sessions.
Thanks guys.
Horsepower sells cars, Torque wins races. A quote I picked up. ( for boats, torque is everything)" Nick keeps the Hemi Flame Alive"
Good quote. 👍
i got on youtube just to check for the blue dot beside Nicks garage, i was not disappointed!
Right on, James. We will keep them coming.
Sense of pride that Nick displays when his efforts pay off is great to see. Great engine. George great opening shots. One of my friends had a ‘74 T/A SD 455 in 1975. One of the benefits of being my age is having experienced these wonderful muscle cars first hand.
1974s got choked down by new Federal Emission standards..smog pumps, egr valves, leaner tuning..
@@aaronhumphrey2009It was in 1972 when the choking happened across the board at G.M.
With this Hemi we know the carbs had the jets installed unlike the recent one that someone else had rebuilt the carbs for.
NHRA Hemi Super Superstocks were running mid 10 second times in the 1960s,70s.Those same Super Stock Hemi cars are now running 8's in the 1/4 mile.
Imagine this engine in an old Dart! Wow! Good show Nick. George, outstanding camerawork and editing!! 528 Hemi is just WILD!
Wow, thanks!
How about a viper!!??
Really heavy with that iron block though..
I had a '67 Dodge Charger when I was young, it had a 426 Hemi, my brother raced it, I bought it from him, I loved it too bad I sold it, now I have a 67 Charger 360, this is a good show
Nick, I really enjoy your passion for Mopar muscle. You have reminded me of when I was a line mechanic at Westgate Dodge in Toledo Ohio from about 1972 to 1979. During that time, the 5 year 50,000 mi warranties on muscle car drivetrains was still in effect. We repaired and road tested a lot of really cool cars, and they were still selling hot cars !! Didn't know how sweet it was at the time. Thanks for bringing those memories back. Peace
What a motor! That’s mouthwatering torque. I can’t wait to see this motor in person in Toronto!
I can watch his videos over and over again.
Love it! The loose water pump was making me nervous though…
Sorry about that. We got it snugged down, eventually.
That's a perfect street motor. Good job Nick.
I dig Nick because of his conservative approach to engine optimization/tuning. Regardless of what power plant, the main concern is everyday reliability and delivery of that plants performance. Fire it up and enjoy a great day/night drive. Anytime, anywhere you want to go. The ability to spank a smarty pants "hot rod" kid is outstandingly brilliant! I'd like to have coffee with the man. I'd smile and listen; (pay for our breakfast too) James, from Michigan. PS, I'm 60yrs down the road and still riding motorcycles and driving BB sleepers. :) !
“Here we go. Nick pulling out the big guns. 😆”.
You're getting a lot better at those intros!
Thanks for indulging a little artiness.
The 528 has become pretty popular. Pricey for sure but nice to know there is something that can at least attempt to make a move on the Crazy Dominant old school BBC out there. It's tough being an old school Mopar guy today. Not nearly as many options for us and they do not come cheap. Still, for the faithful......this is encouraging to see. NIck's got a strong motor on the dyno here.
Nick that was pretty impressive both in looks and power thus far being a 528 Hemi and hey George your intro with lighting and camera work was on the money too.
Thanks, Blinkie. We appreciate you.
Hello ,Germany is on Board 😉
Hello there! Thanks for watching from Germany!
Sounds Good George !!
And LOUD!
👍Oh Lord that’s a lot of torque!! Such a beast!
She's a frame twister.
@@NicksGarage indeed!!!
Incredible! I will never get tired of watching this 528 Hemi making power!! Buy 12 sets of tires…let the “Shredding” begin.
Dr. Nick, thanks for the dyno pulls in the BOOM BOOM room, George that intro was awesome, cheers.
Glad you liked it!
What i'd give to have this bloke's knowledge and set-up.The man's a genius with engines and it's fascinating to watch him at work
The amount of torque that big block has makes a big difference on the road or street too
I love this place. I built muscle car engines in the seventies, but certainly not to this level. Can't wait to see the next tests! WOW!
I was headed to the garage and stopped to watch this bad boy run! It was so worth it!
Ole Nick got his helper in a low sitting shair where he's looking up at Big Boss Man master mechanic Ole Nick......Don't think for a minute that
I wouldn't ❤️ sitting in that shair...
Wow Nick let's put the engine in something after Toronto.. So healthy Nick . Nick I have a good question for you... I took my wife's car to Chevrolet service for a hesitation and a Engine light on .. Here's the question ❓❓ Why and how does gas get into the oil ??? Thanks Nick for your help... They found on the second electric fuel pump on the top of the engine by the injectors .. The car was running rich and lean back and forth on the fuel injection.. Your engine should find a awesome car to go into and she will RIP and tear up the ground buddy.. From your NUMBER 1 FAN THE BANDIT ...
THIS dude is the ONLY cat on earth who would build MY Mopar engine.
Just added a ride in the car this engine goes in to my bucket list! Mopar means Mopower heck yeah
What a beast! I absolutely LOVE the torque numbers. I'm with you, it's all about the torque on the street. Theres no substitute for cubic inches.
No, it's not loud, it's more crisp.......we don't hear all the higher frequencies, I hear the right side than the balance of the stereo balance...... now we really hear the mid tones, Great Job !!
We are glad you like what you are hearing.
will this engine fit in a 1970 Opel GT ?
@@dcraexon134 ...Sure, why not.
Excellent work Nick and crew on this 528 nice numbers
Putting the air cleaner on that beautiful Hemi really sets it off!
Can't wait for the short cross ram 413 to be slapped on the dyno.Thats going to be epic watching those carbs at WOT.
Love Nick's Garage! Even though I grew up a Chevy fan. I am learning to appreciate all the good stuff out there.
NICK AT THE TOP OF HIS GAME..NICK THE TRICK..
I love the energy Nick gets watching the beast breathing fire 🔥 👍💪💪💪😎
Nick, I'm mechanical here in Brazil, I love your videos, I'm always watching, a big hug!
Nick`s like a kid in a candy store when it comes to HP . gotta love it .
There was a guy here that had a charger 500 cu in hemi . Thing rumbled a shook ground like a herd a buffalo’s when it idled by house .
I caught him at gas station and he raised the hood for me . Wow !!! Never forget that !!!- ✊🏻👍👌
I started watching this and then stopped and went and got my headphones so I could listen in on this beautiful engine make some power!
Love the content Zack is a good add to the team, the questions he asks are the same as i would ask. Awesome build Nick,as always ….
More to come!
IMHO the most iconic American powerplant of all time. I'm surprised you didn't use a hydraulic roller camshaft. It would have been nice to see the valve covers removed so we could drool over the valvetrain. You have a career building such monsters that is the envy of any patriotic person!
nick is still living the dream I love his life be is happy doing his job.
Now that is a serious engine ... one of my favourite episodes Nick .. I'm always learning something, Ty !!!
Beautiful power plant you got there Nick. Would love to see it in a 71 Road Runner, I love the grille of that car, one of my all time favorite Mopar front ends 🤙
I like it indeed........ I grew up with Mopar, dad had a 69 Newport with a 383, I was really young at the time, who says babies can't remember anything I remember how that thing used to start, that iconic Chrysler starter sound......... good to hear Leo's doing well, I have a cousin who's a diesel mechanic, he loves everything diesel especially FORD........ I have a 6.2 diesel in my 86 GMC Sierra
Seems most of the good car memories involve 'dad' ... ❤️
So many years watching and learning from Nick . This channel just keeps getting better and better ! You two work very well together . Awesome torquemonster ! I could just listen to this beauty run all day . My phone ringer when you hit 6 grand next episode . Thanks guys.
i have adopted your wording at work with problems we shall try this based on this and "WE SHALL TAKE IT FROM THERE!" thanks for the content nick been a longtime subscriber from Chilliwack BC
It is rare to see, A world class mechanic.
My friend you are.
What a torque monster!
Agreed!
What a BEAST of an ELEPHANT . So COOL . Great video .
Dam ,I wished you had done this motor in the 80s . One would still be in the red 1970 beep beep RR . Great package Nick 👀🏁
The 528 did not excist in the Eighties. It came on market after 2000.
Great to see you having fun & working on your own Hemi Nick! That thing is go'n make 11's all the way down your block in whatever it ends up in!
That 528 is awesome when you where testing it it didn't even sound like it was working good job Nick and crew keep them coming and see you Friday
Excellent video Nick. Looking forward to the next.
Watching this channel I have never seen so many motors with so many problems, but then again I've only had Japanese cars tuned
Man that mill is sweet! Looks as impressive as a fine time piece and sounds like Gods thunder! Brilliant piece!!!
What a beast! So interesting watching the tuning process and hearing this beast roar. Thanks Nick!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nick is so talented at fine tuning, he could turn my 50cc moped into a wheelie popper.
WHAT A MONSTER have fun playing and tuning with that love it
Old school power, awesome. Pass it on brother! Last of dying breed.
Great hemi power my 64 valiant is waiting for this motor good job Master nick
Thank You Nick for sharing Your passion and Love for the Automobile.
More to come!
Impressive performance!!! That 528 Hemi sounds so nice !!! With pistons that are 1/4" larger and a stroke that is .400" longer, this machine really puts out the TORQUE! I'm thinking that camshaft selection and camshaft timing are also important factors... But this kind of power and torque on pump gas is just amazing!!!
Nick, you are one helluva mechanic.
Plum Crazy Cuda, that motor, ladder bars, Cragars. My dream car.
hemi's are some of the best engines built
The thing in front the belt is attached to is moving, not fastened to heads. Surprised the belt didnt fly off with that black piece on bracket flexing as rpm increase. That motor is awesome Nick, the torque numbers will catch some pavement on fire.
You know I could watch Nick's garage for hours I hope we get to see what else he does to it I just love it when he works on Motors and like that
Love the Hemi videos
And this is a BIG one! ❤️
I think it could burn some rubber! 👀😁
Nick you are living the dream. My wish would be to drive one time a car you built to make this kind of power. You are a monster of an engine builder. Thanks for sharing.
Nick is a Master Mechanic at Genius level I love these videos all I do is learn, thanks Nick
Nick works his magic again on one sweet HEMI!!!
Come on Nick! That badass can rev up to 6500 all day!
I also have a 528, torque= 741, HP 673 at 5400. Initial advance set at 14 full advance set to 34.
I remember the first one you built nick the keeper it was cool to see the 426 set up in your garage withe the 4 speed and dana 60 its going to be cool seeing you do that again with this 526. Your channel is the only time ive ever got to see a hemi in action and seeing it with the transmission and dana altogether on you garage floor is awesome it really shows how Chrysler wasn't messing around when they built that package
hi nick so glad to see you so happy that engine is going to be the star of the show along with your challenger you are bringing a lot of great things to the show wish I could go and see how happy people will be to see you and the great work you and only you do
Do you know the old saying, horsepower’s how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.
Love it! 😂👍🏼
I’m home and I’m watching nick’s garage so cool
That’s awesome mr nick ! Thanks for sharing!
I'm impressed with your numbers and really impressed with the afbs performance
That is a lovely piece of work there Nick.
