Schwanengesang ("Swan song"), D.957, is the title of a collection of songs written by Franz Schubert at the end of his life and published posthumously.
The collection was named by its first publisher Tobias Haslinger, presumably wishing to present it as Schubert's final musical testament to the world. Unlike the earlier Die schöne Müllerin and Winterreise, it contains settings of three poets, Ludwig Rellstab (1799-1860), Heinrich Heine (1797-1856) and Johann Gabriel Seidl (1804-1875). Schwanengesang was composed in 1828 and published in 1829 just a few months after the composer's death on 19 November 1828.
In the original manuscript in Schubert's hand, the first 13 songs were copied in a single sitting, on consecutive manuscript pages, and in the standard performance order. All the song titles are by Schubert, as Heine did not give names to the poems. (Reed 259) Tobias Haslinger, Schubert's publisher, collected the songs together as a cycle, most possibly for financial reasons, as Die schöne Müllerin and Die Winterreise collections sold very well. Die Taubenpost is considered to be Schubert's last Lied.
Franz Liszt later transcribed these songs for solo piano.

Schubert really wrote such incredible melodies, wonderful performance!
Yeah! Such a sad life for such a titan.
You have always that sublime interpretation of a peace. You give justice to Schubert’s classic. We are fortunate to have you during this troubled time. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the kind words! :) Best wishes from Bulgaria!
Stan, I pray you continue to get more and more success in RUclips! You deserve it.
I love how you perform and you are very talented indeed.!
SO DELIGHTFUL!!!!! My beloved Serenade (Standchen) of Schubert from his marvellous "Schwanengesang", often I listen to this piece in different interpretations, your rendition is
one of the best, therefore the next my big "like-thumb up-upvote" 63 for an excellent great
performance, thank you for the sheet music, your tutorial will be helpful for many people,
I wish you much relaxation for a long weekend and as always warm greetings from Poland.

Thanks man! :) Yeah it is a very special piece :) Glad you found it :)
Friendly reminder, in case you forgot that this existed two years later
Beautiful

Как прекрасно! Только на одни ваши руки можно долго любоваться, но проникновенность и деликатность, с которой вы исполняете Шуберта заставляют сердце сжиматься. Спасибо!!

That brings back memories. I played that piece (probably a simplified edition), as everyone does, when I was ten years old! And Fur Elise, of course!

I'd like to exchange my piano teacher with this man tbh 😂😂❤
Heavenly. So beautifully played!
Thank you very much! :))
👏👏👏👏
🎹🎹🎹🎹
Den er også en av mine favoritter :)
"Standchen" is one of my favorite Schubert pieces, but this is an abbreviated version. Please include the full piece. Thanks.
One of my favorite as well :) This video was a request like all other "tutorial" videos. And I definitely plan to record the whole thing at some point :)
@@StanislavStanchev - So many pianists miss the mood and sensitivity intended by the composer and often rush the tempo, ignoring or misinterpreting phrasing. Many times, pianists focus primarily on technique and skill and miss the mark. but you're spot on here, in my opinion, and play this piece exactly as I envision the composer intended, Bravo!
Great performance 😍! Thanks so much, you treat it very delicate as it should be! This is my favorite interpretation of the horn transcription 🥰! One question: do you use the sostenuto pedal for the base notes?
Thank you very much! :) And yeah, I use it when the bass note is long :)
Awesome piece!
I'm currently learning Chopin's Nocturne in C sharp minor, so do you think I could try to learn this piece within the year?
Are there any other pieces you'd recommend that's around the difficulty of the nocturne I'm learning? It's fine if not. Thanks.
Thanks! :) And yes you can try to learn this :) Also other Nocturnes and Mazurkas. Just try it :)
Stan, absolutely beautiful piece as all your performances . I tried to search this score in IMLSP, but it is taking me a while, to find it exactly the same as yours. Any hint to find it, I´ll appreciate it? 😊
Thanks :) No idea where you can find it sadly. I have it for a very long time and it's quite old. I can send it to you if you want :)
@@StanislavStanchev Thanks so much 😊. I´ll appreciate you send it to me.
@@racunars no problem :). Contact me by email, Facebook or Instagram and I will forward it to you.
thank you for this. I wonder what edition this is you are playing. Mine is the Liszt arrangement which is unplayable for my small hands .
Thanks for listening! :) I really can`t say which edition is this, since I have it for more than 20 years now.. and it look the way you see it in the video :D
Hi, I absolutely love watching you play! I've been searching high and low for sheet music for this particular version with no luck:(..... Do you know where I can get a copy??? I've just recently learned another version of this piece, but the left hand melody part in yours is particularly beautiful....the way you play it anyway:), mine will probably need a lot more work!
Hi Maria! Thank you very much! :) And yeah I have it. Not the best quality but better than nothing :D Write down your email or contact me directly on the socials facebook/insta and I will send it to you :)
@@StanislavStanchev Hi, Thank you so much. I'll leave my email on FB. Thanks again
@@mariadavis9164 no problem :)
Got it! One more time thanks for your kindness!
I play a différent version. I don’t have Mélody at thé left hand And I like it. This version is translated by Who ? Excuse my english.
It is transcribed by Liszt :)
you all should listen to Richard Tauber sing Serenade in German!
Hey, is this the Liszt transcription? Thanks.
Hi! :) Yes, it is :)
I FOUND
IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
😃😃
Hi, would you mind sending me the score? I’ve been playing serenade but in a different version and after hearing this version , it’s so beautiful that I want to learn this version too. Also, your performance is amazing as always.
Sent :) And thanks for the kind words and the support! :)
Received! Thank you so much for your kindness😄
How about the use of the pedal?
You hold it for the entire bar when there are the long notes in the bass. Otherwise you change with the harmony :)
@@StanislavStanchev thank you so much‼️I will try, as it sounds "dry" so far...
Could you please send me this music sheet?😊
Sure :) It is very old and not with a good quality, but I can send it :)
@@StanislavStanchev could you please send it to bayramovaaida@yahoo.com? Thanks a lot😊
@@ab0007 Done :) Enjoy and please don`t forget to subscribe for the channel if you haven`t already :)
@@StanislavStanchev of course I have:)) thank you so much☺️😀
Where should I press the pedal? In my sheet nothing is mentioned about peda
Where you see long notes in the bass and you can`t hold it with fingers... use the pedal :) Also there are some marking in this sheet of the video :) Best wishes!
Stanislav Stanchev thanks
Beautiful performance. Can you please post a link to the sheet music you're using? Thank you.
Thank you :) I don't post links to the sheet music, but I can send the one that I have to you if you want :)
@@StanislavStanchev I'll message you on Facebook. Thank you!
Is this the original sheet?
No idea. I have this very old copied score from a long time ago :)

Trop rapide à mon avis.
