My mother played this on the piano a whole lot 66 years ago when I was 5 years old. R.I.P. Mom...And I am overwhelmed with joy at all the heart-warming comments...
Muy conmovedor. Que en paz descanse tu madre.
Did she die? 😭 Thats sad :(
Memorys
Michael Furia that is the saddest story of a song i’ve ever heard. it really hits different when you hear a song that reminds you of a special person. i’m actually so sorry
He’s turning 72 this year
i've played schubert serenade when i was 12, now i am 62 and i can no longer recall the notes. will try to study and play it again even if my eyes are not as sharp as before. thank you for sharing this
You can do it...
Did you do it?
You can do it!
you can always do it!

My father once cried when I played this piece for him; that moment was timeless. He was on terminal condition. I will honor his memory playing it for him.
I also cried its too beautiful
im cried too when i was reading this comment
I am saddened by the reality that our parents must leave us eventually. Both my parents are gone... your comment touched my heart.
@@leighana28 don't be sad. Our parents are with us always, I'm certain that my father will come for me when my time comes.
@@agonzaes You say the most heart touching thoughts. You could write poetry. Those were two beautiful comments you made. You touched my heart.
I used to play Standchen n my mother would sit listening n making some embroidery...when I was still a senior high school student..such a sweet memory I have...

That's lovely
When I was a young child, I used to pester my mother to please play the song for me on the piano. She would take a break from her chores to sit down and play it while I sat next to her on the piano bench. Not having any time to practice, she would make mistakes here and there, but I didn't mind because she would play with such sweet expression. This song will always remind me of her.
This tears me up. I am a music major, lifelong musician. When I hear the simplicity of the voicings, and the perfection of the melody which again is so simple, it's genius in that it somehow cuts through the heart. I can't explain this really.
❤
I played this at my piano concert and everyone was congratulating me. My piano teacher was moved. An unknown man came to me and said how wonderful I had played. I am proud of myself for learning this piece. It's beautiful
Congratulations Sandy.
Hey, I'm confused at the pedal. Should you use it throughout the whole song or just when it's written? Thanks
@@aglamarche I would just use it the same way I do on a romantic piece
@@aglamarche bit late but I think every bass note at the beginning of the measure, unless it gets really messy
@@aglamarche However the performer wants. It is up to you to interpret- but listen to many on youtube and see how they do it/which you like most
This brings me back to my childhood. It was one of my piano pieces 70 years ago.
I learned this song when I was in late 5th grade. I listened to it everyday and played it everyday. To this day, it still remains my favorite classical piece.
Oh dear, there are some people with such a great taste in music.
I love how expressive this song is.
It's ridiculous how incredible this piece is. Please someone give me more, my soul is hungry
Me too! Schubert's Fantasy in F Minor D. 940 is almost as lovely, though, and Kassia plays it really beautifully here on RUclips. If Schubert/Liszt is your thing, she also plays Ave Maria and it's a gorgeous arrangement. Would also recommend checking out all of Erik Satie's Gnossiennes played by the late great Reinbert de Leeuw. Just search it, there's a video of him just a little while before he died playing them all. They're the strangest, most haunting soul food.
@@islaadele1212 Thank you, Fantasy is another favorite of mine. I will look up those renditions specifically.
Franz Liszt transcription ruclips.net/video/SlTTgJau33Q/видео.html
Chopin’s nocturnes are quite similar i think
Chopin nocturne in c minor op 48 no 1 you will cry!
Chopin obviously had a lot of influence from Schubert’s style of composition especially in this piece as you can hear a lot of techniques that Chopin has used in many of his compositions. It’s such a thrill to connect the two through their styles of compositions!!
Chopin didn’t compose this, August Horn did
I can see that. Chopin composed a lot of waltzes.
no august horn transcribed it, schubert wrote it@@owenevilmakings5433
@@owenevilmakings5433 I'm sorry but not only are you missing the point of the post you're replying to here, but SCHUBERT wrote this. This is just a transcription, it says so at the beginning of the video.
Im a classical singer.
This is one of my favorite songs I've learn to sing in my all years of studying classical music
Iskandar Awang I love the voice of these piece!
So an opera singer?
@@varunsathya696 there’s a difference between classical singing and opera. Operas tell stories.
Absolutely beautiful. It makes a hole in my heart. He tries to fix it by modulation to major tonality, but the emotion he makes at first is so deep that it can't be fixed.
This takes me back to the late '60s. It's one of the pieces I learned in a piano lesson. Who doesn't love a nice bit of Schubert?
This piece is insanely beautiful.
Somehow, it reminds me of my carefree, dreamy childhood days. I was often taken to daydreaming, and somewhere among my childhood recollections, this tune comes to mind.....
ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH THIS PIECE!!!I have heard this tune when I was about 5, and to my shame being a pianist and oboist, I barely found out the name of it! This piece should be listed among the top melancholic piano pieces (if there was a list), among Chopin's C# minor nocturne...
Esta música me ha acompañado por más de medio siglo. Con mi primera esposa era nuestra favorita; ella murió muy joven y está linda pieza de Schubert me refresca ese gran amor.
I’m 15 and actually learning this piece, the rythm seemed confusing to me but having the music played perfectly matching the sheets makes me feel like it’s not that hard, finally ! I’ll work until I play as well as on the video 😌
Oh that’s cool I’m also 15 and planning on learning it lol
What’s your progress so far?
Same but Liszt’s variation is much better😈
Stick with it guys. It looks so simple on paper, but the 3/4 time with eighths on bottom and triplet's on top, it is anything but easy. However, it is absolutely within your talents to play it. Just work hard and enjoy a masterpiece.
Благодарю за хорошее исполнение и за ноты.Хочется поиграть это чудо!🙏👍💋❤🌺
My grandparents use to make me play it when I was young, because they got in love with this piece.
Playing this as part of my senior recital and I have major appreciation for the person that performed this
Какая мелодия замечательная! Хочется слушать бесконечно! Браво исполнителю!
I remember when I used to play this on RUclips, put on my headphones and no one at home had any idea what I was listening to. Good times.
It is wonderful to hear musicians truly reveal Schubert's work with their own interpretation. The separate voices were clearly spoken, defined. The hesitation and dynamics completely thought out. You brought Schubert's mind out before us-not just dead notes played correctly; he lives on. Thank you.
This is romantic era music. There are no multiple voices.
@@johnnastrom9400 there's the left and right hand. maybe that's what he meant
The beginning sounds like Schubert’s about to spit some hot bars
fuck off jungle bear
haha true...I'm gonna have to make a beat out of it^^
Sounds like Eminem ^^

that's stupid
Everyone is like: oh yea yea i remember when i was 1 year old and played this, easyyyyy!!
And im like: wow, i just played a minuet and thats it :C
i remember when i was in the womb and i played this, the memory brings me happyness
Mood asf
Maybe its seems easy but its not easy.hope someone agree with me
Winner of a video, I've been looking for "classical music piano" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Jonwen Doniden Rule - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my work buddy got amazing success with it.
@@qetonoza8159 nah compared to others this ones pretty easy lmao. but its still a nice piece
A piece of music greater than it ever can be played.
Beautiful transcription of this sublime Schubert song - would love to learn this!
It's easy
@@itsdancnot really
Wonderful music with such a strong Romantic period vibe. It touches heart with the intimate Minor. It could stir sad feelings for some or cozyness for others.
This piece sounds so great compared to it being surprisingly easier to play than it looks. I think composing it easier than it looks is also genius
A big thanks for posting this - so hard to get free sheet music these days :(
N. k Google "Imslp". It's a database of public domain music. As well as many original handwritten manuscripts, it also has several editions as well as transcriptions! Best site on the internet!
It's actually super easy you just have to know where to look
Just take a screenshot and print it
Musescore also has free sheet music
No, like said, you just have to look in the Web for free scores, either you simply buy a score, all is not always free, even if classical music scores are often royalty-free.
Mein Liebslingslied von Schubert. It's my favorite song

what a masterpiece .How many times we listened Schubert Serenata ? yet every time we listen as if its the first time

This music will never get old.
D'une beauté si précieuse. Vive Schubert. Que son âme repose pour l'éternité. Ses écrits sont à jamais dans nos cœurs.
Schubert a créé des pièces telles que l'âme d'un homme est une âme de la sérénité
This is completely beautiful. *And to everyone out there, yes, the Shadow Bonnie theme was made from this, like the Stage 01 theme is swan lake*
This song always touches me deeply. Thank you so much for presenting it so beautifully!
Nice. I know this piece because my grandma used to ask me to play it for her when I was a kid. Beautiful memories coming back.
It's fantastic. I absolutely love this song!
*Piece!!
cried for the first measure unbelievable
Happy Birthday Franz Schubert! Thank you for the music.
one of the most beautiful pieces ever
This is pure poetry!! Who can actually dislike it! Wtf!!??
Someone with a heart of stone. Unfortunately I've met people like that whom experienced so much pain and trauma that they became like that in order to protect themselves from more pain. 😞
Yes, I think that it is difficult not to like it. It is very melodical and it has intresting rythm. We are so different - I think it for sure are some persons who actually like other music piecec than this one. I personnaly love it
Когда я слушаю,и восхищаюсь,я думаю почему я не умею играть.Моя душа только играет.

*THE ADVENTURES OF MILO AND OTIS*
Loved reading while listening to its being played so. Every note followed being led by the warm embrace of this that does not end.
Schubert’s serenade has a healing effect, and an exilir to purify the soul
Thank you for this beautiful piece. You played it with soul. I shall learn this 😊
Un' esecuzione davvero magica...
this song brings tears to my eyes and touches my soul
comencé a aprender como tocarla en piano y es grandioso cuando sólo dejas que tus dedos se muevan de forma espontánea en determinado momento....una forma increíble de conversar con uno mismo....
I remember hearing this piece for the first time watching The Adventures of Milo and Otis.
Man, the memories..
Only eyes can describe the feeling of listening to this MASTERPIECE
All love from🇱🇾
Thank you so much for presenting it so beautifully !!
Absolutely beautiful ~
Wonderful and very sentimental performance. What program or programs did you use to get the page turns to coordinate with the music? I have a lot of piano scores I have written and would love to put them up on RUclips with page turns, but have no idea how to do it. I write in Finale 2014b and can save and musx, mp3 or export as XML files. I would really appreciate knowing how you did this. Thanks so much for your help.
I love this piece of work
how wonderful this was my lullaby as a baby know it by heart.... thank you for sharing

This piece was my first solo (in choir) when i was 10 and one of my fave pieces :)
So beautiful, especially the modulations from minor to major. Tragic he died so young.

Schubert hermosa toca mis sentimientos
Very nicely played. What fingering do you use for that section at around 3:06 (specifically measures 62, 63, 64 where the phrase from the right hand in measure 61 gets kind of echoed around a few times and seems to require that it be done using both hands)? It hurts my brain so I need to make it work nicer for my fingers. Any tips?
Thanks! I play both upper and middle melodies with the right hand, except for the very first note (A) of the middle melody (the first "echo"), which I play with the left thumb
Great, that fingering is working very well for me. Thanks :)
This part is giving me fits... ugh...
Beautiful ! 👍

Very good playing. Perfect tempo
I love this song. I've played this song about 10years old. I'll play it until I can't play. Once I'd been in Salzburg, Austria. Of course, I wo'nt miss Mozart 's house, I wanted to Squeal out with glee, there, in his one room, a small piano that he'd played, and his age of 7 he could composed songs!.
Love this music
