Liszt was friends with every major composer like Chopin, Brahms, Clara Schumann, Robert Schumann, Wagner (he was , of his time because he was a generous person and supported many young composers who had talent like Grieg, Brahms. He also motivated young Debussy after witnessing his performance. He also gave piano lectures to basically everyone who turned up at his home, that too for free, that would be like the greatest musicians in the world today giving lectures for free to some random people who show at their home.

A new fan, just subscribed, and am in awe of this clever format. It offers the possibility to learn much about music I have enjoyed for 70 years; without even imagining the detailed degree to which it can observed and more fully appreciated.
The challenge will be to learn to read the excellent narrative, written intelligently on the left side of the screen, without drifting away solely into the music. Fortunately, I know enough about the RUclips commands, that it is easy for these wobbly ol' hands to go back and repeat/reread, without worrying I might scratch the record.
Its like discovering sunken treasure, or a new Land. Thank you, thank you to those responsible for preparing and posting this channel ! A monumental work.

It is particularly outstanding that you include a biographical sketch of Liszt and the world in which he interacted. The artwork brings to life both he and that glorious time. We get a sense of the exquisite world that I think was prerequisite to enabling his genius to be expressed as it was. Well done. Subscribed for more.

I never knew liszt & Chopin were good friends. Very interesting. Both have been my long time favorites. Also learning how profoundly influenced liszt was with Paganini. Another favorite of mine. Thanks.

Is there a biography of Liszt you would recommend? I would like to learn more about this great composer. This music grows more beautiful with every re-listen.

There are a couple..Alan Walker at the Library of Congress, called 'In Defense of Transcription..' If course Alan Walkers trilogy on Liszt. Alan Walker also was interviewed by David Dubal in 1986 I believe it was, after Walkers first book, The Virtuoso Years. Also Leslie Howard on Liszt. There was one I had that for some reason unbeknown it was deleted. It was called il Grande Virtuoso. There are many other bios on Liszt if you search...
