    I think with Bluey changing her behaviors, you might have overlooked that she is playing a part. People with ADHD can often preform in 'scripted' roles because it's easy to know what is expected. Beyond that, it might lessen rejection sensitivity while doing it, since it's not really them.

For example, in one episode(I think it's unicorse?) she is having trouble sleeping and Bandit says to Chili "You know she can't help it" in a more serious tone. I have ADHD and I don't think bluey has ADHD for the simple fact that she feelt rewarded in the end from cleaning the toys.
    Thats a "normal" thing to fell.
    People with ADHD normally just feel reliefed that it's over, when they do stuff they don't like. We don't get dopamin from finishing task we don't like.
    That also one of the reasons it is hard for us to do things we don't like again and again, because when we remember back, it was hell last time we did that task, with no reward and we really dont like to go through that again.
    - If we look away from all the other stuff that makes it hard to do task we don't link or sees as boring.
    - You also has to remember that bluey is a little kid, and all small children shows some signs of ADHD, which will disappear when they get older.

    I think its inappropriate to diagnose or postulate about diagnosis of actual people, but why would it be harmful for neurodivergent people to suggest a fictional character may have the same condition as them? Especially when some creators have confirmed characters as ND that were previously only theorized by fans (Entrapta from She-Ra, Twyla from Monster High, to name a few examples).
    This isn't meant to be defensive or aggressive or anything, just curious about why you see it as harmful.

    The comparison thing is something all parents should keep in mind irregardless of whether their child has something or not. Most children will be really sensitive to it or annoyed by it or both and it makes it appear you are picking favorites. It also can trigger a sense of entitlement for the child you are comparing himself/herself to. Always be careful when you compare children.

      Ahh hopefully that’s not the overall perceived message. There is definitely overlap of behaviors, especially when kids are young. What’s really important is if the behaviors occur in multiple settings, are chronic, and get in the way of things like school, friends, and family. Young kids can be hyperactive or impulsive or have short attention spans. For kids with ADHD, those things don’t get better as they grow, learn, and develop. Hope that makes sense.

    This is a difficult conversation for me because I was misdiagnosed with ADHD but really I had paediatric PTSD because of family violence growing up but I was taught very well that it is taboo to discuss so it never came to light until much later in my life. By then it seemed like no one cared to fix it or even apologize. I got the wrong medication and treatment and the medication caused me life long medical complications that still affect me in adulthood. Because of that I hate it when people just casually discuss kids having ADD or other mental health issues like it’s no big deal. It is a big deal to make these accusations. Bluey seems like a happy healthy normal girl to me. Please stop trying to say something is wrong with her.

      I believe ADHD is more of a way a brain is operating. We all have different minds. I am not sure if ADHD I necessarily a negative thing, although many parents see it that way (although parents struggle with all kinds of children lol). I could be wrong, but I do not think ADHD is inherently a problem.
      I am really sad to hear about your PTSD. That is much too common in this corrupt world 😢 I imagine trauma also rewires our brains. Maybe that could be why it was confused with ADHD. Because they could tell your mind was operating in a certain way, but didn’t do enough to look further into it? I really don’t know ):
      I am also sad to hear that you feel like no one cares. ): people do care, but the world is so cold and so busy, people do not have the time and resources to achieve the dreams we want for this world. From my experience, it can be extremely hard to find help. For me, it’s actually been impossible because of the expenses of seeking help. I do have friends to help support me now though, that makes all of the difference. It is hard to find a support system, but please do not give up!!!!!!

    What happens when tidying one's belongings never becomes intrinsic for anyone in a household? 😢😢

    • @DoctorJacque
      @DoctorJacque  6 месяцев назад +3

      So tough! The answer is probably different for each family and individual. And the degree of problems it causes is probably also different. Being disorganized or messy may not really affect some people all that much, and for others it can cause more major problems. I think family values and expectations are also a part of this conversation. Then figuring out how to get those expectations met would be next, even if it means doing so in non-traditional ways. You're right - keeping things tidy may never be intrinsic for some. It's ok to think of other ways to meet the same goal, for a brain that works differently.

      bluey also can't read or write yet,it seems like schools in australia (as far as I know anyway) teach kids these things much later than in the US,cause most kids in the US start learning to read,write and do numbers at the age of 5 or 6,and it seems like kids don't start learning these things until they're 7 or 8,which is odd to me,but schools do have different rules,so I'm guessing bluey is just now learning how to recognize letters and numbers

    Hiya! Lovely video! Do you believe that a 6 year old could maybe learn masking behaviors in settings outside of home? Just wondering because it would make me think that bluey doesn't always present these behaviors outside of home because she realizes she needs to mask.

    • @serendipitysisters84
      @serendipitysisters84 4 месяца назад

      Of course! Children are made to learn, they are always testing and learning their boundaries. They certainly act differently around different people and in different environments. They are constantly learning which behaviors are appropriate or not even beginning in infancy. Of course every child has a different personality and a different mind, but I would imagine kids could learn how to mask at a young age. When kids exist in the world, they have to learn how to exist in the world 😅 masking probably easily becomes apart of them as they go through their experiences.

      I say each to their own. To be completely honest, people usually don’t do things on purpose, most people are going day to day. It’s taken me many, many years, but I have learned that when people seem rude, condesnsensing, judgy, etc, they don’t really mean to, it’s just who they are. They were born a certain way and they have experienced their own things. No one exists to harm another person or to make things more complicated (although it seems that way). At the end of the day everyone is very different, but everyone is just trying to get by. Maybe the reason they are doing it is innocent, or maybe they are doing it for attention or for another reason, but it stems from who they are. They never planned from their birth who they would be and the things they would do. They are just trying to do what they think is best for themselves just like everyone else.
      Every behavior is from a stimuli, and people have been operating this way since they were conceived.
      I hope this wasn’t too over the top, it took me so long to learn this, so it may not make sense. But everyone is just a product of their environment, and their mind and body are just reacting to the world around them. At the end of the day we all want to feel like we belong, we all want attention, we all want to feel good, and have some fun too.
      We are all very different, but we all want the same things. Why that person in your class is doing what they are doing, I do not know, but you can only think for yourself and be aware of yourself and the efforts you can make to change your behaviors or way of thinking to certain stimuli. I wouldn’t worry about the other person.
      One last thing, we all struggle immensely in the world. If we think someone is not struggling, or does not hold pain and fear in their heart, then we are wrong. We all have heartache in this world, even if we are excellent at hiding it or even ignoring it.

    Yes, pause and wait, don’t pacify. I find these kids show things interesting because I feel like the problem is the parents (but it’s adults who make these shows so it is really weird to me 😅).
    Jo Frost would never let this problem go on for long and give the child so much control. I get that we need to work with children given who they are, I have ADHD and I work with children, but I think parents still need to be parents. I think them trying all these little tricks to get their children to behave is silly 😅😅😅😅 is it just me?

    I feel it’s stigmatising to avoid labeling fictional characters and even calling it inappropriate. If ND people relate to certain characters and feel they might have the same diagnosis as them or make good representation, why not? Is it more offensive than someone calling a character an introvert or speculating on their characterisation in general?
    Diversity does exist and it includes neurodivergency. Treating a diagnosis as something bad that will ruin having positive diversity representation is on seeing ADHD as an entirely negative thing. Bluey is fictional, it’s not forcing a term on real person and being nosey about their life.

    Also, my family runs with schizophrenia And other. mental disorders. I heard that when something has AD HD and they are not medicated, they are more likely to get psychological issues. I'm not saying I'm medicate my two-year-old. But I think it will be a possibility that I need to give medication. Later on. To reduce likelihood of mental illness. I'm very afraid of that. Especially with boys getting it earlier than girls getting it 30. 's 40s.

    • @DoctorJacque
      @DoctorJacque  4 месяца назад

      As far as I know, the likelihood of increased psychological issues is for untreated ADHD, but not necessarily not medicated ADHD. There are behavioral therapies and accommodations that can be made at school as well to help address symptoms that interfere. I also don’t know of a correlation specifically between untreated ADHD and development of schizophrenia. The problems that may develop are usually reported to be anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. Of course, as a parent, you want to protect your child from future pain and struggles in whatever way you can, so I appreciate the concern about their future well-being. Starting with your family’s medical doctor and teacher or care provider for resources might be helpful. 💚

    Maybe labeling all kids as being ADHD is the real issue? No kid actually wants to clean up a mess!!! Like what kid would rather clean up over playing or doing other stuff they want to do or find more enjoyable. I think this is overreaching. Maybe what you would label as ADHD is just normal kid behavior, kids aren’t supposed to follow all the rules or listen every time you tell them to finish a task, kids are easily distracted and don’t want to be patient or sit still for hours on end. Putting the ADHD label on Bluey is a little over the top
