I’m really loving the Drizzle Movement. It makes me laugh because my ex left the week I told him he needed to get a job because I was going to get a second job and could no longer afford him. This was after 8 months of me letting him know our lifestyle wasn’t sustainable.
I told him he would need to work whether he was with me or not, so he’d do better to stay with me and only need to work part-time. He told me I didn’t know that - his parents were wealthy. I told him they couldn’t afford him because they were retired. He did his thing and I am grateful.

I was in a relationship with an older woman, I was 24 and she was 30. It was nice that she wanted to treat me a lot, took me everywhere, theatre, restaurants, pubs, trips. And, since I was a broke ass uni student (yes, due to life circumstances I enrolled later than most people), I had to find ways to also give her something to show muh love and appreciation, which usually involved: me cooking overly complex dinners and watching movies with wine in my apartment as dates. I would gift her portraits of her and handmade stuff for the important dates and she would melt over them. Only once I bought her something for her birthday, which was expensive and totally unaffordable to me, it was a big ass box of German colours like over 100 different colours and materials for drawing, she cried because that was her regret, not having given more attention and time to her childhood hobby and she always commented on it, I was happy, and felt it was worth it. But in the end, she wanted to continue specialising in her carrier and had to go overseas to study her PhD and we both knew long distance wasn't going to work. Man, I hope she's doing well, I kinda miss her.

She graduated at 22, and had 8 years of experience in her field and a masters, while I was barely starting my own studies, compared to her in that aspect, I was literally in diapers.
It's so odd this thing people have, and I'm not sure if it's just lack of actual experience or what. I was apart from my wife for most of the year for various reasons and we both did fine. However we both missed what the other has to offer and our division of labor. I can absolutely do all the the cores, cook for myself and my daughter, etc. However it's not the same as having my partner with me to share the load of things. It's not about taking advantage of someone else or using them, which seems to be what todays folks thing it is, it's about sharing the work and your life with someone else - the good times, the bad times, and the responsibilities.

When my husband was unemployed during covid, I was the provider for 2 years to give my man a break. He went to therapy, found a job that made him happy, and now he’s back to it. He’s the main source of income (I still work but he makes 5x what I make) I would do it all again for the one I love 💜 I will take care of him till death because I vowed it. We are as strong as our partner. Women need to keep that in mind when they choose to weigh a man down in one way or another.
