      Good video. Looks to me that the Rift S is on par with the Vive Pro.What's your thoughts on this? Btw I see everywhere they present the Rift S as a mixed bag...do you recomend it to someone who has the rift on a bookshelf gathering dust? does it create a spark? or better save for valve..

      @@neluka2008 I don't have a rift but already tried it a couple times.
      I'd prefer waiting the Index comparison because Valve is marketing many features that puts this headset at the top of consumer vr headsets.
      Resolution, framerate, screen, built in audio solution and ipd manual adjustment.
      It's a hell of a price I know, but I think that's the price we need to pay as enthusiasts trying new technologies.
      Hope it gets better and cheaper. :)

      With a bit of supersampling, Odyssey+ looks much better than is visible on these images. The colors are much, much better than on LCD screens. However, if you don't have a feel for an OLED screen, you may be very happy with LCD colors. It is like you see OLED colors and then you are spoiled. This is my experience at least. I got original Rift cv1 the rift s Vive Pro and pimax Vive Pro is the by far sharpest and most vibrant of them all. and if you do lens upgrade then there is no comparison. And I gotta say the optics are awesome and the clearest I have ever used .
      Compared to Odyssey the FOV is a little less but as u ppl mentioned the sweet spot is much larger and super sharp. Despite the lower resolution on the S it looks better than Odyssey and I honestly cannot see pixels and or screen door. I am pleasantly surprised.
      The colors and blacks still look good and better than expected with LCD
      The tracking is already better than WMR. In Lone Echo I can place both controllers behind my back and push off or move around on a surface without lookout at controllers.
      I do notice like WMR the controllers bug out close to face in shooters but hopefully they will fix that or make some sort of work around.
      The only grip I have is the software on oculus and steam needs updates but this is par for the course.

    Very good video Tyriel on comparing these 3 VR headsets all 3 are not bad. To me it looks like the Rift S is pretty good with Text compared than the other two especially with the Big Text test screen. I dont know why the Rift S didn't fill/show more in the Orange colors with the space ship like the other two VR headsets did. With Assetto Corsa video with the cars moving, It looked like the Vive and Odyssey+ colors looked better,brighter-The Rift S seemed to look darker and not as clear as the other 2 Headsets when doing the 2 games this time.
    I am surprised with the blacks with the Rift S are darker than I thought they would be(very close to the other two VR headsets).
    I dont know if actually putting on the headset looking through the lenses would even look better than your camera captures. It will be interesting when I do my own compares with the Rift S vs my Odyssey+ so, Right now, I mainly do SIM racing with the Odyssey+ and also like the Visuals I get the headset.
    The only 2 things that still wondering about the Rift S compared to my Odyssey+, who has the larger FOV? and with the Rift S since I have an IPD of 60, how good does the software adjust align my eyes to the sweet spot. I will know soon when I get my Rift S which is on pre-order.
    So the Rift S is looking pretty good with your comparisons against the Odyssey+ and Vive Pro. Need to watch this video a few times more to get a feel of what I am seeing also on my 4k monitor screen down stairs hooked to my gaming computer.
    I know if you did a comparison to the HP Reverb, the Reverb will have way better resolutions than all of these, but I dont think I have the computer horsepower even with my GTX-1080 to get all the benefits that the HP Reverb has to offer.

    Rift S wins because LCD has RGB pixels for each location effectively making it much sharper about 2x. Even when the Quest has more resolution per eye, the OLED panels only have a single dot instead of RGB. I still pre ordered the Quest knowing this as freedom from a PC is a bigger deal than resolution or graphics fidelity. Still will be interesting to see your Quest SDE test.

    Rift S has a clearer display but washed out colors. Odyssey + has better colors. Both are the best choice to choose from. Personally I’d choose the Odyssey + because the Rift S lacks the ability to physically adjust the IPD. So all that extra detail will be useless if your eyes are out of the range to see the display clearly even with IPD software adjusting.

    • @HealyHQ
      @HealyHQ 5 лет назад +2

      Rift S doesn't have as much brightness because it's an LCD panel. The other two are using OLED panels, which have brighter colors and deeper blacks. The tradeoff is that the LCD panel has better subpixel density and so offers better overall clarity. Personally, I wouldn't say either is "best" because it greatly depends on the specific games you intend to play. I prefer the OLED displays for space games, but prefer the LCD panel for racing games. Ultimately, you gotta weigh the pros and cons to decide which gives you the better experience personally, most likely according to the games you'll play most. Everyone will prefer different things depending on what is more important to them after all.

    • @MadDarthMatt
      @MadDarthMatt 5 лет назад

      @@HealyHQ Yeah I do know about the LCD difference, but Im not talking about depth of color or black. I mean like the whole image looks like the gamma is set wrong and there is black crush.
