I love number 4. I had long beautiful locks and kept them for a long time. I started them when my pops was alive because they represented freedom. I had just went to college and mother didn't want me to have them. So when I moved out it was the first thing I did. My pops was my boxing trainer and loved them. They got long! REALLY long. He passed away in 2008 and a few years later I cut my locks for a fundraiser for a kid that had brain cancer. Long story short, after that ever time I tried to regrow my locks I kept cutting them over and over because then it was about the "style' where as the first time it was "spiritual". During this quarantine I put my locks back in... But this time it feels different. I'm ok with the 'rough' look because I feel my locks are a spiritual representation of my new knowledge... My "North Star" so to speak is closer to when I first had my locks rather than the image of it. Thank you for the great advice!!

Two months into my second set and it's way more pleasant than the first time around. My scalp was acting ALL the way up on my first set. Flakes would pop up three days after a wash. Not anymore though, and I haven't changed anything. It's weird, but it is what it is.
To be honest, my mom had put Locs into my hair when I was 7 and at the time my hair was pretty long already and was slightly past my shoulders. And by the time I had cut them, they were near my butt and literally I had them in for like 3 or 4 years. And now that I'm 14 I miss my Locs, even though being able to brush through my hair was pretty cool, I feel like I need my locs back because I just miss them so much. So thank you SOOO much for this video because I had no idea what to do. 😁
i started my locs about 3 weeks ago. i haven’t washed it yet but i’m about to soon. i gave a habit of touching my head but not scratching. at first i hated the frizz but i love it now!
Will be getting my twa locked tomorrow after going bald for three years now. These tips helped. I have bonnets but no durags, so mext video to watch is your durag vs bonnet video. Can't wait to see how this goes for the next one year ❤ P.s, i was going bald by choice cause I got tired of my hair not growing after years of treating it horribly and it needed a fresh start
I’m glad this is out, since covid -19 I figured to finally get locs bc my loose natural hair is so much maintenance for me. I’m getting my starter locs tomorrow so I’m excited for my journey.
My boys 11 and 7 are starting there loc journey today. We are of Jamaican and Haitian descent as well as African American. I wanted my sons to understand the history of it all and that it goes past just a style it’s a symbol of strength and freedom. Made them wait a year to ensure they wanted them. I have never had them but I’m proud they will and so are they.
Started my second set 8-23-24 my first set was over 10 years ago 2009 bigget lessons I learned is to ALWAYS cover your head before you go to bed it’s essential honestly
I started a month ago. This was helpful because I panicked a week ago cause my hair looked like it was coming undone. But my Loctician told me to trust the process and my hair was ok.
I had locs for 10 years; I cut them when they dropped below my waist. I started with two months of growth. I started and maintained my locs by myself. People often stopped me in public and complimented my locs and/or asked who my loctition was. I formulated my own oil and mixed my own shampoo concoction. I washed my hair once every three weeks; I didn’t use conditioner because it causes buildup-causing mold. I never wore a durag-NOT ONCE!
I’ve been contemplating getting locs. I did for lox hair styles previously and I really loved how it looked. Now I am officially ready to loc my hair plus I’m tired of doing my natural hair every morning. I don’t got time for that lol.
I'm glad I clicked on this channel. it's amazingly detailed. this is my second month and I just relocked today. gosh, I dyed my hair same day I loc'd my hair. I wish I didn't though. now I know better. I wash once a month and condition once a month. you rock💓

On week 3 of my second lock adventure. Half Black Half White hair: DON'T WASH and DEFINITELY don't condition your light skinned hair. I promise! Never for conditioning, as far as washing: one wash after a week with residue free shampoo so your head doesn't freak out, then leave it for as long as you can and just keep twisting. I like rubber bands this time around. No issues with parts etc. You'll be locked up in 2 months if u just tough it out. Don't use wax, use gel, and everything else here was very helpful! Glad this popped up and I clicked!
I slept without a durag and it actually helped it lock faster, just speaking for myself. But everyone has their own journey and what works for them. I agree tho if u want to maintain the retwist longer sleep with one.

HI THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE ADVICE🙏🏽GOT MY FIRST LOCKS AT THE AGE OF 57. IT IS SCARY BUT EXCITING AT THE SAME TIME…ITS BEEN A SLOW PROCESS, I HAVE BEEN NATURAL( SHORT CUTS) FOR SEVERAL YEARS & NOW THIS. YOUR ADVICE WAS NOT ONLY GOOD BUT WISE TOO…I SHALL TAKE PICS & KNOW WHAT TO DO/AND NOT TO DO. THANK YOU SO MUCH FROM THE UK❤️🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️
I appreciate this video so much I started my son's hair while he still little... For spiritual reasons me and his dad talked a lot it. 💜
Glad this video could help family! ❤️
Just started my loc journey yesterday, I feel like their slightly too thin but oh well I can't wait for them to grown out and mature. Well excited!!!
Welcome to the loc family! I feel like that’s a pretty common worry! You’ll find in time the thickness is jussssst right. 🙏🏾
Ooop, I dyed my hair 3 times after 2 months and my hair is doing perfectly fine 😌
Two months into my second set and it's way more pleasant than the first time around. My scalp was acting ALL the way up on my first set. Flakes would pop up three days after a wash. Not anymore though, and I haven't changed anything. It's weird, but it is what it is.
I just came across this started my loc journey 3 days ago 02/26/24 and I’ve been looking for all the helpful tips I can find
This video was a good starting point. Welcome to the loc family. ✊🏾
@@TPlocks thank you 😌🤞🏽 and yes this definitely gave me some good insight
To be honest, my mom had put Locs into my hair when I was 7 and at the time my hair was pretty long already and was slightly past my shoulders. And by the time I had cut them, they were near my butt and literally I had them in for like 3 or 4 years. And now that I'm 14 I miss my Locs, even though being able to brush through my hair was pretty cool, I feel like I need my locs back because I just miss them so much. So thank you SOOO much for this video because I had no idea what to do. 😁
My loc purpose is growth; financially, mentally, physically, and spiritually ❤
i started my locs about 3 weeks ago. i haven’t washed it yet but i’m about to soon. i gave a habit of touching my head but not scratching. at first i hated the frizz but i love it now!
You’ll learn to love every part of it as your journey continues. Take plenty of pics!!!! Welcome to the loc family! 🙏🏾
Will be getting my twa locked tomorrow after going bald for three years now. These tips helped. I have bonnets but no durags, so mext video to watch is your durag vs bonnet video.
Can't wait to see how this goes for the next one year ❤
P.s, i was going bald by choice cause I got tired of my hair not growing after years of treating it horribly and it needed a fresh start
I gottta remaster some of my old content! It all makes me cringe today! Glad it still helps! 🔥🔥🔥🙏🏾 Keep us posted on your journey!
I’m glad this is out, since covid -19 I figured to finally get locs bc my loose natural hair is so much maintenance for me. I’m getting my starter locs tomorrow so I’m excited for my journey.
Welcome to the loc family!!!!!! 🔥 it can get rough but if you stay committed it’ll all pan out! I use lockivin IG for inspiration!!
Started my son's locs Monday glad I came across this video💚
Welcome to the loc family! ❤️
@@TPlocks thank u💚
Started my second set 8-23-24 my first set was over 10 years ago 2009 bigget lessons I learned is to ALWAYS cover your head before you go to bed it’s essential honestly
I started a month ago. This was helpful because I panicked a week ago cause my hair looked like it was coming undone. But my Loctician told me to trust the process and my hair was ok.
As someone who just got locks for the first time ever, I say prepare for the itchiness
I just got my locs yesterday and it’s itching already
Fax
lol okay thanks for the heads up
Im 3 weeks in just moisture it with tea tree oil
i started my locs 2months and 2 weeks ago mines haven’t inched at all
Just got my locs today. It feels great!😌
Welcome to the loc family! 🔥
Most ppl need a durag
I’m super late to the party. But I start my locs next week and I’m super excited and nervous about it lol.
I'm going to get mine twisted this afternoon lol I'm nervous about how I'll look.
@@chitownfan06 How did they come out?!
I’ve been contemplating getting locs. I did for lox hair styles previously and I really loved how it looked. Now I am officially ready to loc my hair plus I’m tired of doing my natural hair every morning. I don’t got time for that lol.
Update: I’m a week in my loc journey 😌
@@VaniaVictoria_ How is it going!?
I'm glad I clicked on this channel. it's amazingly detailed. this is my second month and I just relocked today. gosh, I dyed my hair same day I loc'd my hair. I wish I didn't though. now I know better. I wash once a month and condition once a month. you rock💓
A week into my loc journey. Appreciate the advice my guy 💯
3 days in and im really embracing them now!😀 I was feeling really baldheaded day 1 but I've gotten used to them now and I love them ❤ 💕 ♥
Welcome to the loc family! 🔥🔥 and I’m glad you’re settling in to that love for them. Embrace every change with love and you’ll enjoy every step of the Journey. 🔥🔥
Your analogy actually make sense. Thanks for the “Do’s” & “Dnt’s” I appreciate it loads! 💯
The BEST teacher is experience my boy
Started my loc journey 2 weeks ago I’m looking forward to connecting to the universe im doing it for spiritual purposes
Got my locs a few hours ago. I’m so in love with them.
I like the donts and dos in the discrption

I’m glad to help out tebyous!!
TP locks Thanks You The Goat
staring my locs tomorrow and i couldn’t be more excited !!
This is probably one of the best videos I've seen since starting my journey. I'm about 4 months in my journey. Trying to learn how to do my retwist myself so I can save some money lol. I'm so nervous.
Starting my locks today wish me luck ✌🏽
Getting starter locs tomorrow I’m very happy!
Iya Phillips lets gooooo! 🔥🔥🔥 it’s a very exciting time! ✊🏾
Congrats 🍾🎉 on a side note omg u are so beautiful 😍
Started my loc journey yesterday, this video will help me in the long run also a lot of helpful information.
Welcome to the loc family!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Can you help me start? How to get the locs, types of hair etc, dm on ig
Mr.tox6ic
9 months into my loc journey and it been an amazing experience,i always had a style but i think my 10 month anniversary ima let them hang 😌😌😌😈💪🏽
Congrats on being committed 10 months!!! 🔥🔥🔥
My first time watching your videos. I just got my dreadlocks yesterday.. Thank you so much
MY NORTH START IS GETTING MY HAIR LIKE YOURS 💯🤞🏾
😂😂😂 you can have hair better than mine! All the mistakes I’ve made haha
@@TPlocks mine too, lol.
i’ve been planning on starting locs again cos i have an itch for it and this really explains why my last ones were so weird
The child analogy was good. Let them mature before you introduce them to tattoos (ink dye), piercings (loc beads), and alcohol (alcohol based washes)
This video was amazing. Started my dreads a few weeks ago! And this video cleared up EVERYTHING I needed! Thank you sir!!
Everyone keep saying it DO NOT GO TO SLEEP WITHOUT YOUR DURAG
Me not listening and wondering why my hair keep unraveling . . . .
A hard head make a linty loc!! Lol
Just started my locs yesterday for the first time after having afro like hair (like my profile picture) Thanks for the tips and tricks
Welcome to the loc family!! 🔥🔥
Thanks for the info, I refuse to get a haircut during this public health issue. My hair has been growing since February. So, now it a good time to plan for locs.
For sure! I haven’t groomed my hair at all since this started! I’m enjoying the break for my hair and scalp!
i started my first (and hopefully only) loc journey 2 days ago! i'm super excited and doing lots of research on how to care for them. I can't wait for my hair to really loc up.
Nice video, sir! I like how you organized it. I also like how you tackled the "controversial" topics. That's the way to do it, full steam ahead! :)
I imagine the controversy is what the one thumbs down is from!! Lol
TP locks Possibly. You know you’re keeping it real when you get that thumbs down 😂 It could also just be a hater. Just think of it as another 👍🏾 because you made h*ll out of this video and everybody knows it 🙂
On week 3 of my second lock adventure.
O and pick a fat dread right above your ear you wanna play with and only play with that one lol
Husband's starting his journey today, on his way back as we speak, actually. Just wanted to thank everyone for sharing experiences and suggestions 😊
Happy to help!
I slept without a durag and it actually helped it lock faster, just speaking for myself. But everyone has their own journey and what works for them. I agree tho if u want to maintain the retwist longer sleep with one.
My only regret in my journey is not taking more pictures. You're so right about that.
Why?
@@jarelllevingston7882 to see the before and after
Just got my locs the other day!
Great information! I’m week 3 of my journey and appreciate all of this.

pstreet3 ....me too. On week 3
Thanks for the information. I just got my instant starter locs 2 weeks ago and I was just saying to someone that this part of the journey is killing me but I’m also enjoying it too
I locd up because I got tired of being so synthetic.... the pressure of having to be "beautiful" in a synthetic way...
I am beautiful with these naps popping
I did cheat though I got extensions buy hey im not perfect 🤷🏽♀️😂 esthetics at work are still a thing. I wish youtube let u upload pics in the comments.
You are an idiot for getting extensions
Emmanuel Krueger what’s wrong with extensions?
@@maddisonroseschroeder1751 fake hair, bad energy
Maddison Rose Schroeder not a single thing. ppl just wanna judge
@Emmanuel Bacher well it sure does take a whole lot of bad energy to call someone who you don't even know an idiot for exercising their right to do whatever they want to THEIR own hair just saying 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
