New subbie as a high porosity girlie. Key changer for me is using water while styling. Can you give your thoughts on the no oil, no butters? It didn’t work for me at all and now some are going back saying it has damaged their hair. Thanks
The “no oils, no butters” approach-works for some but not for everyone, and its effectiveness depends on individual hair needs, porosity, and overall routine. For high porosity hair, which often loses moisture quickly, oils and butters help seal hydration. Removing them completely can lead to dryness and breakage because moisture isn’t being locked in. If you live in a dry or cold climate, hair may need extra protection, which oils and butters provide. Without them, hair is more prone to environmental stress and damage. The success of a “no oils, no butters” routine depends on consistent hydration through water-based products and using other techniques (like leave-in conditioners) to prevent moisture loss. If hydration isn’t replenished regularly, dryness can set in if using oils to "moisturize" hair. Hope this helps

Great video and thanks for the hair tips!!!!! I’ve been natural since 2013, and going to a salon for a shampoo is the one thing I miss the most. I’m low porosity but have other textures too. My hair loves TGIN leave in conditioner along with a heat cap after shampoo and Shea moisture mask. Finding great hair stylists who want to do natural hair is limited probably based on my location. I have managed to take care of my hair through trial and error.
@@Marketinginhereyes the key is to hydrate your hair at the shampoo bowl and to lock in moisture. Try using a spray leave in conditioner, followed by a heat protectant cream before blow drying, and then use a serum before flat ironing. Anti-humidity sprays can also help.
Hi. I really appreciate and enjoyed your video. You said a lot of things that made sense. My biggest hair issues are shedding (in crown and spreading) and dryness. I live in Phoenix Arizona so no humidity. I am relaxed, every 8 weeks at salon (except during pandemic when I did it at home with kiddie kit) and regular trims. Last 2 retouches we didn’t relax the crown to give it a rest. I just can’t get moisture in my hair at all. I know that was a lot but what do you think?
What’s your routine? How often do you shampoo and condition your hair? How often do you use heat on your hair? What products are you using? Is the shedding something new and do you feel it’s excessive? If you’re not already, you should be incorporating hydrating and moisturizing products into your hair routine. You may need a protein treatment to address the shedding. If the shedding persists after switching up your routine, it could be the sign of an underlying issue such as a vitamin deficiency or hormonal imbalance.
@ I wash once a week with Shea Moisture manuka honey. Only use heat for dry using Pantene hydrating butter crème leave in conditioner. Flexible hair rollers on ends. Shedding was discovered by hairdresser in May. Had a protein treatment then and another in August. Diet change and hormone therapy started in September. How long should hair start a growth cycle?
you should start to notice an improvement and less shedding once your hormone become more balanced. Hair growth cycles last between three and seven years.
Hi, I found your channel and I subscribed. I am a low porosity fine natural coily senior age 64. My hair is multi texture. It grows Very slow. I need to know what TGIN hair products are for my hair? Thanks for your video.
I would advise consulting with a professional stylist to assess porosity and recommend products, but here are some general tips: For fine, low porosity hair, lightweight, hydrating products are key to moisturize without weighing hair down or causing buildup. In regards to the TGIN line here are some products you may find beneficial: Try TGIN Moisture Rich Sulfate-Free Shampoo for gentle cleansing. TGIN Rose Water Hydrating Shampoo to hydrate fine hair without heaviness. TGIN Triple Moisture Replenishing Conditioner is a good lightweight conditioner. TGIN Rose Water Hydrating Hair Mask is a good deep conditioner for fine hair needing moisture without heaviness. TGIN Green Tea Super Moist Leave-In Conditioner For definition, use lightweight gels like TGIN Rose Water Curl Defining Styling Gel, which hydrates and holds without creating buildup. Tips: ✅ Use heat (steamer or warm towel) during deep conditioning to help products penetrate. ✅ Apply leave-ins sparingly to prevent buildup. ❎ Avoid heavy butters and creams; focus on water-based products.

Hello, I went back to a perm after eleven years and my hair is shedding/coming with strands little by little. I go to the shop every other week & I don’t wash my hair in between that time. My beautician said that’s why. I find that hard to believe, but I’ll take her word for it. I’m starting to go see her every week beginning this week to see if that makes a difference. I was up early this morning wondering if it could be the products design essentials that she’s using. My hair is really fine whether it’s high, low or medium porosity is beyond me. It’s worrisome seeing my hair get thin.
Hi design essential is a great product line so I don’t think it’s that. Without really knowing any of the particulars for seeing your hair in person, it may be over processed. It may be protein. It may have too much moisture. There are so many factors that come into play. Have you had a protein treatment since having your relaxer? it may be something as simple as reinforcing the bonds in the hair. It could also be something internal such as low iron or vitamin D deficiency. Try and see if a protein treatment helps first and then maybe see if it’s something internal.
@ Thank you for replying. I haven’t had a protein treatment, so I’ll ask my beautician to try that. Where are you located? I’m already knowing it isn’t any where near me in Cali 🫢. I would jump on your client list quick. Again, thanks for replying.
Hello, What is a good wash day routine for thick high porosity hair?? And how often should i deep conditon?? Please help. Oh how much heat is too much heat for this hair type?
Without seeing your hair in person for a true assessment, this is some general advice: For thick, high porosity hair, a good wash day routine focuses on strengthening, hydration, and moisture retention, while limiting damage from heat styling. Wash Day Routine 1. Pre-Poo: Start with a lightweight oil or conditioner to protect hair during washing and prevent excessive moisture loss. 2. Cleanse: Use a sulfate-free, hydrating shampoo to remove dirt while retaining moisture. A clarifying shampoo can be used every 4-6 weeks to remove buildup. 3. Deep Condition: Deep condition weekly to strengthen and hydrate your hair. Alternate between protein-rich treatments (for strength) and moisturizing masks (for hydration). Apply heat by using a hooded dryer or heat cap to help the product penetrate. 4. Rinse with Cool Water: Seal the cuticle for added shine and moisture retention. 5. Leave-In Conditioner: Apply a lightweight leave-in to lock in hydration. When it comes to using heat on high porosity hair, it is a delicate balancing act because the cuticles are already compromised. ✅ Use heat tools no more than once a week. ✅ Always use a heat protectant and limit tools to 300-360°F to help prevent damage. ✅ Avoid overusing blow dryers or flat irons to maintain hair health. Because healthy hair starts within, here are some additional suggestions ✅ Drink plenty of water daily to hydrate your hair from within. ✅ Eat a nutrient-rich diet with protein, omega-3s, and antioxidants to strengthen and nourish hair. Hope this helps
My hair struggle- kinky curly, fine, frizzy, no shine, dry and hard to keep moisturized (high porosity hair- just due to it being fine). Unless I use a co- wash like As I Am coconut cowash, I get tangles especially at the root every single time even when my hair is in twists while washing and massaging scalp in a downward motion- sheesh and then it takes me an hour with my deep conditioner to get tangles out and I then lose hair. Please help me!!!
How often do you shampoo and condition your hair? What products are you using? How do you wear your hair most often? Also, your diet plays a huge role in the health and quality of your hair. Try incorporating more foods with with protein, omega-3s, and antioxidants to strengthen and nourish your hair. Do you drink enough water daily to hydrate your hair from within? Are you taking any vitamin supplements? Have you had bloodwork done recently to assess your vitamin, nutrient and hormone levels? I know this may seem like a lot of questions but the issue may not be surface level.
@ I shampoo and condition weekly when I’m not wearing a protective style which is most often crochet styles. I’m very good at drinking water which I start early in the morning. I work out regularly including strength trading 3x per week, my diet isn’t perfect but I watch what I’m eating. I do not eat seafood so I take omega 3’s as well as a probiotic and vitamin. I stay on top of my labels but am not sure if I’ve done a hormone o e.

@ Shoot! You know she did do a dark brown cellophane the same day that she permed it. Could that possible be the cause?
It’s usually safe to do a Demi the same day as a relaxer so I’m not sure
Very straightforward. Thanks 🙏🏽
Tired of the same regurgitated information 😅
@@shanitamorenita you’re so welcome! I’m glad you found the information helpful
Detangling thoroughly is my biggest problem
Hello,
What is a good wash day routine for thick high porosity hair?? And how often should i deep conditon?? Please help. Oh how much heat is too much heat for this hair type?
Without seeing your hair in person for a true assessment, this is some general advice:
For thick, high porosity hair, a good wash day routine focuses on strengthening, hydration, and moisture retention, while limiting damage from heat styling.
Wash Day Routine
Because healthy hair starts within, here are some additional suggestions
✅ Drink plenty of water daily to hydrate your hair from within.
✅ Eat a nutrient-rich diet with protein, omega-3s, and antioxidants to strengthen and nourish hair.
Hope this helps
@shadesbyshavonda Thank you soooooooo much. This helps a lot. I appreciate you responding back. Enjoy your day and Happy Holidays😊

Good shampoo and conditioner for 4c male recommended
I will definitely be doing a video on product recommendations soon
My hair length has plateaud. I am at below bra strap length. I'm not complaining though! 😊
This is the type of knowledge and experience I've been craving in a stylist. What state are you in?
Hi! I’m in the Cleveland, Ohio area
It be hard for me to figure out what to do with my hair after a old silk press or something else…
When your silk press starts to get old and you’re not ready to shampoo it, you can flexi rod it, do a twist out or a braid out
@ thank you!
You’re welcome
why can't I just come into your salon lol
You’re more then welcome to 🤗
