This month makes 2 years into my log journey. When I started they were very very short. Thing is tho, I did not have an ugly stage and that I believe is because I thought long and hard before I started my journey, I watched every video on locs that I came across and in so doing I knew what to expect every step of the way. I embraced all the stages, never thought of wearing a wig, hat or any form of head wear to hide my locs, instead I left them out to do what they wanted to do. I’m so in love with my hair and I always have something to look forward to as time goes by.
“As my hair grows, I grow with my hair”. I love this and I love your energy! Such a beauty! Just subbed and can’t wait to continue watching you flourish. ❤️
Wow! You're right, my hair can tell when I'm not feeling like myself!! I've never thought of that but my hair is literally an extension of me... I'm five days into my loc journey 🤗
OMG I'm so happy I watched this video! I'm on my loc journey and I the main reason I started is to love myself more regardless of how my hair looks and practice consistency. 💕
@@selenemiller9976 Lol. My sister told me the same thing. My appointment is 11/8/21. 🤣🤣🤣. She like girl do it tomorrow. I was like noooooo. I made the first step and booked my appointment.
I love this video!! I haven't started my journey yet but it's coming soon! I didn't realize how your hair matches your mood. I've been wearing weave forever and now I'm ready to age gracefully with gorgeous locs. This video is fun, relatable, extremely informative and engaging. Thank you so much.
Thank you 👍🏿 I'm taking notes 📝 Be careful "satin" is not a material, but a method of weaving. So always check the satin's material (cotton, polyester, silk, nylon...)
@Alex OpalYes, real silk is pretty expensive 😅 Most of the time, the scarves and caps that we find at beauty stores for less than 10€/$ are *polyester satin*. It's good enough
@Alex Opal😂 I'm fine with polyester satin for now. Avoid cotton, that's it. If DIY is your thing, you can also go in a fabric store and buy some. It should be more cost-effective 🤔
"Because water is moist" lol loved that...loved all the other tips as well. Thank you for putting me on to the steaming. I'm 6 months into my journey and I don't feel like my locs are dry but I did wonder what people did to get that moisture in. Great video
you are literally the ONLY youtuber to say that water is great....ive had locks for more than 5 yrs with 2 separate journies and water is what helped my hair lock both times...by 9 months my hair was locked and loaded lol
Ooppp! I’m glad someone knows the deal! People are clearly sleep on water when it comes to locs! They 100% help your hair loc faster! 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾 you already know what’s up
Absolutely loved this video. Your energy and advise makes me love my locs even more. I'm 2 months in and was told by my loctician that I was going to hate them at first but I've loved them since day one. Loving my journey.
I loved your video. I'll be starting my locs (starter locs) on 7/31. I've been wanting to do this for quite some time now. I love your go with the flow attitude. I'm 12 years natural and have truly embraced my natural journey and I KNOW I'm ready to start this journey! Thank you again for all the tips. I will be incorporating them! Peace & Blessings!💞
thank you love! congrats on starting your journey and welcome to the family! exciting isn't it?! Going with the flow def takes off pressure for a certain outcome that's for sure! 12 years?! that's a long timeee!!! No problem, im glad I could help! 💖
Thanks for recommending a deep clean at the 5 month mark 😀💛💓. I'm at the 6 and a half months mark and my locs are in the budding teenage stage 😀😀 I'll get onto it right away!
I'm almost certain I'll start my loc journey in January of next year. Been natural for about 8 years. Want my hair to get a little bit longer before I get starter locks
Definitely loving this video. Your like a life coach for locs 😂. Three years strong in the game this month 💪🏾. I have very fine soft textured hair, it’s definitely been a journey, but I love my locs. Over oiling my scalp is something I just learned is a problem with very soft textured hair, my hair retains moisture EXTREMELY well and it makes my hair softer than what it is (appearing as if it was thinning) Peace and love goddess.
Thank you very much for this advice! I’m 6 weeks in, Yh stale twists stage pretty much😩😩😂😂But yhhh! Still doing my research and thinking about starting a RUclips channel to tdocument my journey! Enjoyed this video and this advice!👌🏾
Thanks for the does and don’ts . I am ready to go locked for my very first time. I would like to know if you did your own starter locks. Thinking of doing my own since I got so much time and I live in a small white town with no lock support. Oh by the way, your locks look awesome. I been wearing braid corn rolls for a year to get some length. Maybe I will start with comb curls. Taking in as much information as I am learning the process to make my journey painless. Thanks
I just started my loc journey today and I asked my loctician if I should cover locs while I’m in the shower. I figured the water would help them because of the moisture. But I never thought about it speeding the loc process. Thanks for the tip!! 💜💜🫶🏾
And I instantly subscribed when you said you started your locs so you could learn to love yourself regardless of what your hair looked like , because that’s the exact reason I started mine. 😭🥹💜
Great vid I'm a loc newborn...just started 4/23/21 so I'm bingeing vids...I used tropical locking gel but want to go clean...moisture, water, oil scalp is that a good move?
Because the oil I have is called Jamaican minion and lime Island oil it has seed oil and some type of honey in it and it says shoes and moisturizers scalp nourishes from Roots to ends and the strengthens locks and there's no build up
thanks for the information am always wondering why some locks look like that now I know that the retwist do it, so let me know how you start to locks if you just get up and twist it and leave it to lock, let me know.
Im just starting 3 days in 10/8/24. I have been massaging daily. The loctician wants to retwist me in 3 weeks 11/3 24' palm roll.My question is after my 1st month, can I start washing weekly. Is that too soon for a retwist. I kind of think its the money. She told me no rosewater or nothing wet for a month.
Thank you sister! 💖 I appreciate your support so much! I’m going to assume when you wash your locs they aren’t unraveling? If so, YES!!!! YES x 171272 lol I really wish I started deep cleaning much sooner in my journey! I think you should be fine! Catch that build up before it’s too late!
Can I let my locs hang free after retwisting them without damaging them? My locs are still quite new, 4th week and short, I’d actually call them baby locs. I’m not a fun of styling, My loctitian recommended always styling but since I’ll be retwisting my hair myself, I don’t want to do any styling and to be honest, I don’t know how to style my locs. I have a mixture of 4a, 4b and 4c hair.
Thank you!! Congrats on two months!! 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾✨ def don’t apply the Shea butter itself to your locs! I always use like a spoon full- 2 (depending on how much oil I add) and add in my fav oils! And melt it all together and use it that way! In my experience, I’ve never had an issue with buildup using that mixture on my hair!
Based on the video:
Do’s
1. Protect your hair, i.e Satin or silk scarf
2. Deep clean hair, ACV rinse
3. Let your hair down, be free
4. Steam your locs in the shower
5. Use natural based products, i.e sheabutter, oil, water
6. Love your journey 🙌🏾
Don’t
1. Don’t be a product junkie
2. Don’t Retwist to often
3. Don’t change your method of retwist to often
4. Don’t manipulate your hair too much i.e tight Styles
5. Don’t hyper focus on how your locs are forming
