But i loved my short hair. She was really cute! But I’m very happy to be locking again and i even got my gf to loc her hair! 🤎
This is such welcomed information. My hair looks a lot like yours. The fatties (my buds) are entertaining and they all have their own personalities. I’m 7 months in and everyday I give them a little pep talk and I’m so proud of them. I don’t want to over-product them because I’m not washing as much as I would ordinarily. I’m finding tea tree sprays between wash days are helpful and rose water and a light oil are working for scalp and locs. Thanks for sharing.
I love the locs w personality the most 🥹💕 Awww that's too cute though ! I'm glad you're loving on your babies every day ! Definitely good to not over do it w the products . But the products in between that you're using sound amazing ! Great recommendation . That you for watching Love !! 🥰

Whewww 250 Locs ! I could only imagine 😭🌚 but I’m sure they are beautifullll &nice &full . I’m glad things have turned around for you ! I’m sure it’ll only get better !!!! ❤️🥰🥰
My locs are frizzing, shrinking, and budding. I did starter locs on my shoulder length natural hair. It definitely wasn't what I expected. But I love my mane.
This video makes me feel so much better about my hair. It's currently 4 months and sometimes it gets fuzzy and not so "groomed" and I personally don't mind it being that way. Certain comments from others is the only issue. But this video helped me to gain back my confident because I love my babies on my head even though they arent fully matured. Thank you for this
What a wonderfully well-rounded video on the topic of what to expect within the first year or so of one's loc journey. I had locs for seven years. I cut them off for deeply personal reasons. I am currently growing out my hair again to restart my locs. I am genuinely excited about the prospect of regrowing my locs since I learned so much both through my own experience and through the study of locs and of hair (specifically afro hair) in general. I consider myself somewhat of a loc veteran, although there is always room to learn more. One thing that I have learned is that what happens to me on the inside (my internal environment) is at least as important as what happens on the outside. That is - my dietary choices, the degree to which I keep myself hydrated, my overall physical wellness, and my mental/emotional health. All of that is as significant as washing, oiling the scalp, moisturizing, covering the hair at night, etc. Much Respect and Much Love to you! Thank you for this video! 💛🙏💛
2 strand twist free form high top locs,3 months in im trusting the process i treat my locs beautifully and only use natural oils 😌thank you so much for your advice no such thing is a ugly stage! Much love to you and your beautiful loc journey
I found this video for a reason. I began my loc journey today and I didn’t realize how much heat damage I had in two areas in the front. I’m just praying I don’t chicken out and cut off my hair.
Thank you for all your information. I’ve been contemplating whether to start my loc journey for many years. I finally decided to start this year next month. I’ve been wanting to start it for the longest.
As a male this video helps me a lot. I been watching all types of videos on what to do and not to do or how to do it. I'm about 8 months in with my locs. I like how you breakdown on how your hair grows and what to expect. Other videos don't give you good details. For me since I didn't have long hair I started from scratch and had a taper. I love how my has progressed. And I didn't go to a stylist I did it all myself.
Omg I always love to hear from my men too ! Thank you so much for watching . I'm glad you found it more helpful than most 😅 . &Oooh a taper , so you get to reallllly experience that crazy growth that's about to happen ! But doing it yourself just makes it hit a litttttttle different .
Lmaooo I’m ok with them telling me when I’m going to take my twist out my hair cause people be asking me when I’m gon get my hair done cause it’s always in a bun. 😅 so I’m totally fine with that. It’s why I’ve decided to loc my hair because I’ve done so many styles in my years on earth and I’m tired now just wanna loc and go
With my two/three months old short frizzy unraveling starter Locs (oh did I mention on fine thin hair) EVERYDAY is a bad hair day! But I’m trusting the process. For now. 😂🥺
Ohhhh two , three months ?! Give them a break ! 😩🤣 You wouldn't expect a newborn to be walking that early would you ! Lol but seriously , its okay 💕 That is all expected . My first set , I had a few around my perimeter that just kept coming out ... but eventually they just started staying . The frizz , is just going to be a thing for a while , so you are going to have to learn to love that one to make things easier for yourself 😅 If you don't trust it , you'll never see what you really missed out on 🥹 These stages are temporary !
Just seeing this..... thanks for the support...... I just started two strand this month...... so I am truly a beginner....... I love your locs...... I have a lot of gray so I am embracing my loc journey along with getting older
Aww you are more than welcome Rolanda 🤍 Yess embrace all of it ! I am sure they are beautiful &only going to get better ! Gray locs are GORGEOUSSSS 🌱 Welcome to the fam .
Love the video and your personality. Just started my starter locs comb coils last week and then put into a style due to the nature of my job. Im tender headed as well. Can't wait till it matures.
I have watched your 3 what to expect videos over and over again since I reloc'd January '24. You are in my top 3 loc'd ladies getting me through the starter phase with ease. Thank you, and hope you are well... 💜💜💜
Only a few months in and I’m learning, but loving the journey so far. Right now I’m in this stage of the first 7 stages. So it’s only going up from here, but I do enjoy this video because it was good!
i originally started my locs in oct 2021 and combed them out in june to restart with smaller ones and i am struggling this time around!!! idk why. i'm sure when i started the first set, i also had a hard time, but now i'm missing them...my hair is so frizzy right now, hair coming out of the loc, alla this stuff that makes me regret restarting 😫 this vid is making me feel better. i just looked thru my camera roll and i definitely dealt with frizz in the beginning of my first set, i'm just forgetting all that and romanticizing when they were mature. i am going to stop messing with my hair and just let it grow! it'll mature! it'll get less frizzy over time! i know it cus i lived it, i just have to be patient and stop messing with it. thank you for this vid ❤
You got it! You know FIRST HAND what needs to be done... and that is be patient! 💚🥰🌱. I know it may seem hard now, but you know you'll get right back to that beautiful mature stage. With being aware that it is in fact a process, the best you can do is embrace what's going on now. Get ready for the come up! You got this love! 🌱 Cheers to trusting the process. I don't even miss my first set because I'm back baby!
Thank you for this. Just started my journey 12/22/2022 I Have 58. These numbers are significant for me because in Numerology they both reduced to 4. Which for me Means Patience, stability, peace, loyalty! Thank you for sharing
Started my Two Strand Locs 12/31/2022 I have 90 and my birthday is 12/04/90 so I can relate to numerology as well 🤎 I actually thought I'd be insecure but I feel so freaking good & free I love this video and glad I started with color before locing... Congratulations 👏 sis 💟
Ayeeee ! That is beautiful 🥰 another way for you to be deeply connected to your babies ✨ glad you joined the community ! Your Locs will thank you for everything aligning w your #4 reasoning . I wish you nothing but the best my love 🥰
Thank you so much. My hair is extra soft, and it never looks like other people who have locs. My hair is always frizzy. I am going on 10 months, and it does not loc at the roots. This is the first time i have gone 2 months without getting it retwist. I also sweat in the head, especially when I wear my bonnet. Makes me wonder if i did the right thing. But i do love the freedom 😅
Stick with it my love! Remember there are no two people who have the same journey so embrace your look 💕 My hair was super frizzy too, but as time progresses... you'll see it tone down drastically. You got this! The freedom is unmatched! Especially when It rains 😏. Take care!
I'm 5 months in. Had a lot of slippage in the beginning from lack of awareness and it does need repair, but my loctician has assured me we'll fix them as we go, but I absolutely love my locs...still in the baby phase, but I'm going to trust the journey. I wish I had done it a couple of years ago.
Tender headed is an understatement! 😂😂 I’ve always been semi tender headed but I’m on a different level now. I started this journey and maintain it totally myself and love every minute of my journey. Great video.
Lmaooo right ! My head be screaming for help after 10 minutes sometimes so I get it 🤣 I’m so glad you’re enjoying the journey ! It really is amazing 💕💕 . Thank you for watching !
Love this video! I’m 4 months loc’d now, and started with braids. This is my second set of locs. My least favorite comment about my hair is, “ your hair was prettier loose”💁🏽♀️ did I asssssskkkkk you!?!??
@@HerbNLocs I did this braid method where you braid the hair at the top and the end of the hair braids up too( think don’t separate the three strands) and then when the two braids meet in the middle you flip the end through the little hole. Sooo hard to explain. But that kept my braids in without a rubber band. I also saw a RUclipsr who thought that the frizzier your hair naturally is, the faster the braid pattern will disappear. So I have it a try! My hair is super frizzy and I really don’t think most people can even tell I started with braids.
I’ve just started my locs and your video really helped me. All my friends kept questions my why I am doing it but it’s my hair and my journey thank you so much ❤️
Aww this just made me so happy ... okay ... I really just started tearing up ... partially because it's almost that time of the month lol . But Im just really grateful that I have the opportunity to help you guys out . It feels good to hear that you are pressing on ! Trust me once your locs get mature they are gonna be asking you how to start them ! lol . Keep your head up &trust the process my love ! Thank you so much for watching 🤍
Your so amazing god has really blessed you with a gift you have such a beautiful soul. And yes i know but I feel so much more as peace I’ve learnt to love my hair so much more
I started about a month ago, I am mixed black and I started with comb coils. I'm being patient and just not thinking about them. Tea tree oil definitely helps with the itching, my only regret is that I didn't start sooner. Everything you talked about hit home, coils coming out, frizzing, all of them not looking the same. Thank you for making this video, it has made me feel better and more confident. It's definitely a journey but I'm glad I started it. I know this is from a few years ago. Subscribed and thank you!
That's the beauty of wearing your hair natural any style you want goes. I'm constantly trying new products some work good some great some I have no idea. Tropical roots growth oil, wild growth oil, peppermint oil, pumpkin seed seed oil are a few favorites. Always use sulfur 8 weekly especially for sides that start thining. I retwist whenever I feel like it and have a lot of new growth. For the summer a friend interlocked my hair cause I go swimming a lot and it's holding up wonderfully
In March, I’ll have been loc’d a year, I absolutely love them, they are a tribute to my son. I’m waiting on full maturity, so I can add two of his. They’re so dry, but it’s growing
This helped a lot! My Loc’s are about to turn 5 months old & I am absolutely in love with them. Today I was feeling them up, lol & I noticed a few were bunched up. I’m like, jeeze, when will the shrinkage end?! Lol but all in all I love this journey!
Aww yay ! I'm glad to hear this helped you out 🥰 But yesss ! The next 5 months will FLY by ... then next thing you know BOOM it's been a year ! Lol it's such a beautiful process to watch . Hopefully you continue to fall more in love . The shrinkage will leave whenever she's ready but she'll make it worth your while 😆 They get long so fast !
@@HerbNLocs yes!! I hear that a lot on how long they get so fast. My original length with loose natural hair was to my bra strap, or a little over. So it’s getting use to having shorter hair, which isn’t a problem at all.
i’m trying to start my locs & i cannot find a loctician in new york at all , im thinking about trying to start them myself & this video is helping so much !! thank you i love your locs !
Cant find a loctician in NY ?! I’m super surprised . What’s making the search so hard ? But hey ! I’m all for the self start 🥰 I’m glad I can be helpful &i really appreciate the love 🤍 . I have a video of when I started but I struggled my way through the process ! That may help you out but I’m sure there’s some great videos that will actually teach you how to a little better . Good luck w whatever you decide !
@@HerbNLocs yess it’s so hard out here , it’s like no one tends to natural hairstyles anymore on wigs & weaves for the females & i guess just regular haircuts for the guys , also many people out here that have locs do them at home or pay an arm & leg to get them done. i will definitely check out that video tonight thank you so much for the recommendation & kind words love ❤️❤️
@@tykwan_ Oh wow , I can definitely believe that . That's sad though . Have you tried looking on Instagram ? #NYloctician or something maybe . But even w that I'm sure they are probably charging a crazy amount . Well don't be afraid to dive in yourself . Doesn't hurt to try and if you dont like how it comes out , just comb it right out ! But i'm rooting for you lol . You are very welcome love !!
I’m two weeks into my journey and my hair is shrinking already lol. My hair was bra strap length btw. I’m going to stick with it. Thanks for the video!
I been natural for nine years and decided to start my new journey! It will be a month tomorrow and I’m excited to get my hair wash lol I really enjoyed your video. Thank you for sharing positive energy.
Honey you just inspired this ol’ lady to go ahead & do this! I’ve been pondering whether my salt & pepper, loose natural hair would “lock”. I’m now prepared for the adventure! 🧗🏽♀️ We all have wonderfully different textures, so our individual Loc journeys will be our own~to embrace. There’s no “ugly stage”; it’s only in the minds of those who fail to appreciate. So thanks for the encouragement & the useful tips.🥰 I’m not a fan of using unhealthy products, nor manipulating my hair~except for herbal shampooing, conditioning/moisturizing. Silk scarves/bonnets/headbands will still be used. I use natural light oils, like jojoba on my scalp, already. Locs reign!👸🏽 Your Locs are beautiful & you are lovely!🌺 This presentation is fantastic!💯 🙏🏽🥰👵🏽🥰
Woot wooooot ! Go head then Miss Lady ! 🥰🤍🌱 I love to hear it . &The salt &pepper locs are always sooooo beautiful ! So even more reason for you to start ! ❤️ It's such a beautiful variety ! &"In the mind of those who fail to appreciate" ... I like that ! You are absolutely welcome though . I'll be waiting on you to let me know you started lol . Thank you sooo , so much . I appreciate you watching ☺️💕💕
Yes miss lady, come on board. I’m 8 months in and loving the journey. Each Loc has its own personality. 😂 I am finding my greys aren’t as sparkly. I’ve been natural for 30+ years and I stick to natural products. I’m considering using a shampoo for grey. Wishing you an amazing journey.
This was very helpful. I'm 2 months into my loc journey and part of me wishes I would have made them a little bigger. I really don't want to start over because I'm already seeing budding on a lot of them so I'm just going to trust the process and let my hair do what it does lol I have 72 locs and I have pretty thick hair so I'm hoping over time they'll be nice and juicy lol
I'm so glad you found it helpful 🤍 But aww lol yes it's easy to fall in love or get addicted to those changes in the beginning . So I hope everything works out for you as far as the sizing ! 72 with thick hair SEEMS like it would produce some juicy babies lol so we'll just have to see 😅🌱 I'll be hoping for an update from you !

Aww ! They're just doing their job lol . I'm glad you're loving it ! 🤍
Thank you for this
Awww I’m glad I could help 🥹💕💕 I hope you keep that confidence love ! I’m sure they are beautiful & only getting better !
Great info, I'm in month five of my journey and NGL I've felt discouraged at times, but your words really gave me a boost.
So glad to hear that 🌱❤️🔥 Hopefully things have gotten a bit easier!
I am 1 month in and am Puerto Rican my frizz is INSANE! I'm pushing thru thanks to this video lol
Ayeee lol push through ! Let’s get it 😉🤍 glad I could help ! So much will happen , just hang in there .
2 strand twist free form high top locs,3 months in im trusting the process i treat my locs beautifully and only use natural oils 😌thank you so much for your advice no such thing is a ugly stage! Much love to you and your beautiful loc journey
Oh boy! The dos and don'ts. 😂 When you think you're on the right track, someone bursts that bubble.
Woot wooooooottt! 🥰🥂congrats on taking the step finally! I hope you LOVE it!
I strted my loc journey, this month makes 4 months since i took that bold step, am honestly loving the way my locs look right now, its a freedom 😊😊😊
FREEDOMMMMM 😎🥰🌱 I love to hear it!
Thank you I ABSOLUTELY NEEDED TO HEAR SOME OF THESE THINGS I JUST STARTED MY JOURNEY YESTERDAY/TODAY 🥰✨
Aww you are more than welcome ! 🥰🌱 Welcome to the fam ! Thank you for watching love .
Damn I started my journey a week ago and needed this amazing video. Thank you queen. You are stunning BTW
Thank you so much 💚 Glad I could help! Hopefully it's been going well.
Can’t stand the frizz😂! But I’m embracing it. Trust the process 😊
There ya go 😌🤞🏽
You really do save money with locs 😂 sometimes I just moisturizer with water for a while if I feel like putting my money else where.
Lmaooo now that's a hack right there 😅 water is the best moisturizer so I aint mad !
It’s why I’ve decided to loc my hair because I’ve done so many styles in my years on earth and I’m tired now just wanna loc and go
lol JUST COME ON TO THE LOC'D SIDEEEEE !!!!!
@@HerbNLocs love the encouragement! Thank you so much.
@@Supa_Soul_Sistah You are more than welcome 💕 Hang in there .
Me too!!! 😂I don’t care though because I don’t have to do my hair!!!
6 days in and I’m loving it❤
Yesss 🥰🌱 Hopefully things are still going well! You're almost to a month!
@@HerbNLocs yes I’m a month in hun. Things are going great 💪🏾
Just seeing this..... thanks for the support......
Just got my hair started with two strand twists two days ago. I’m 90% gray and this hair is fighting back already. 😂😂
Love the video and your personality. Just started my starter locs comb coils last week and then put into a style due to the nature of my job. Im tender headed as well. Can't wait till it matures.
Thank you so much 🥰🌱 but that’s amazing to hear! I hope your journey has been going well.
The music and your voice got me vining at 3:13 am wow
I have watched your 3 what to expect videos over and over again since I reloc'd January '24. You are in my top 3 loc'd ladies getting me through the starter phase with ease. Thank you, and hope you are well... 💜💜💜
3 weeks now, the word is frizz, its frizz and short feeling discouraged , but this really encouraged me. Thank you ❤
That 3 weeks will be 3 months realllll soon 🥰🌱 You got this!
Only a few months in and I’m learning, but loving the journey so far. Right now I’m in this stage of the first 7 stages. So it’s only going up from here, but I do enjoy this video because it was good!
It's only UP! 🥰💕 step by step. Thank you for watching love.
Thank you so much for the much needed information. I will continue my journey. It's almost 2 months now and my hair is all over the place 😂❤
i originally started my locs in oct 2021 and combed them out in june to restart with smaller ones and i am struggling this time around!!! idk why. i'm sure when i started the first set, i also had a hard time, but now i'm missing them...my hair is so frizzy right now, hair coming out of the loc, alla this stuff that makes me regret restarting 😫
this vid is making me feel better. i just looked thru my camera roll and i definitely dealt with frizz in the beginning of my first set, i'm just forgetting all that and romanticizing when they were mature. i am going to stop messing with my hair and just let it grow! it'll mature! it'll get less frizzy over time! i know it cus i lived it, i just have to be patient and stop messing with it. thank you for this vid ❤
Love this❤️ I’m 5 months in with two strand starters and I’m loving every minute of it.
Ayeeee welcome to the fam 😍😍😍 Thank you so much for watching !! I’m glad the journey has been treating you well love 🤍🤍🤍
Loved the video I'm 3 weeks in 2 strand I'm looking crazy but I'm here for the ride.
Lol that’s alright ! Just strap in ! It’ll be a great ride 😅🌱
This was so informative and I’m happy I watched this video and now I want to start my loc journey 💜 Thank You 😊 so much
Awww I’m so glad to hear that 🥰🌱
You are very welcome
You’ve got a lovely personality ☺️
Awww , well thank you so much ☺️💓
Thank you for this.
Yessss cheers to feeling FREE & FEELING GOOD !!! Congratulations to you too 🥰🎉 so glad to have y’all !
I really needed this!! I'm starting my loc journey in 3 weeks. I'm really excited about it. Bomb video...
Woot woooooot ! 😅🥰🌱 it’s almost that time then ! Good luck . Thank you so much for watching !
I’m 5 months and 14 days in my loc journey I’m so happy 💖☺️🙌🏾 with my journey 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Woot Woot ! 💃🏽🥳 awww well I’m glad you’ve been enjoying it ! It’ll only get better &better 🥰
But i do love the freedom
😅
Omggg yesssss 🥰 I'm also so intrigued to hear about the braid method . But girlllll yes , like nobody asked &I sure don't care lol .
And yes i know but I feel so much more as peace I’ve learnt to love my hair so much more
@@natelecampbell7980 Thank you so much Natele 🤍 You really made my day once again 😊
Young lady you created a beautiful video. Thank you for the loc wisdom.
Aww , thank you so much . I'm honored . You are very welcome ☺️🤍 . Thank you for watching !
Subscribed and thank you!
love this a lot, just started mine with two strand twists yesterday!
Ayeee congrats 🥰 i hope it's going well. Thank you for watching ❤️
I love this video I got my starters less than a week ago and this video really helps :)
Awww yay ! Welcome 🤗 I’m glad I could help !
Me too, let's enjoy the journey
You are beautiful ❤. Thank you for the video.....I'm 2 months in. Thank you for the positive vibes 🥰
People talk about unraveling I swear to god if my hair wanna switch up last minute after years of wanting to be tangled ima have a fit 🙃
😭🤣 well you may have to get ready to have a fit cause those babies be doing whatever they want !
@@HerbNLocs 😭😭😭 oh noooooooo
In March, I’ll have been loc’d a year, I absolutely love them, they are a tribute to my son. I’m waiting on full maturity, so I can add two of his. They’re so dry, but it’s growing
Aww that is so sweet! I love that gesture ❣️. My Locs are honestly so dry right now as well, but I know I haven’t been doing my part.
Thank you so much for watching ❤️
@@HerbNLocs yes!! I hear that a lot on how long they get so fast. My original length with loose natural hair was to my bra strap, or a little over. So it’s getting use to having shorter hair, which isn’t a problem at all.
I’m new!! I’m so happy to find someone with thicker locs like mine!!!!! *eats popcorn * I just started like two months Agooooooo 🎉
Heyyyy 😜🌱 Team Thickiiii ! Welcome to the fam . I've been wanting some popcorn lately too btw lol .

Aww well thank you so much ! I appreciate you taking the time to watch 🥰 &15 months ! You're not too far behind me . Cheers 🌱
i’m trying to start my locs & i cannot find a loctician in new york at all , im thinking about trying to start them myself & this video is helping so much !! thank you i love your locs !
Hope you did and how’s it going?
I’m two weeks into my journey and my hair is shrinking already lol. My hair was bra strap length btw. I’m going to stick with it. Thanks for the video!

“You can’t birth 50 kids and expect them all to be the same.”
Well ... 😭🤣
Honey you just inspired this ol’ lady to go ahead & do this! I’ve been pondering whether my salt & pepper, loose natural hair would “lock”. I’m now prepared for the adventure! 🧗🏽♀️
We all have wonderfully different textures, so our individual Loc journeys will be our own~to embrace. There’s no “ugly stage”; it’s only in the minds of those who fail to appreciate. So thanks for the encouragement & the useful tips.🥰
I’m not a fan of using unhealthy products, nor manipulating my hair~except for herbal shampooing, conditioning/moisturizing. Silk scarves/bonnets/headbands will still be used.
I use natural light oils, like jojoba on my scalp, already.
Locs reign!👸🏽
Your Locs are beautiful & you are lovely!🌺 This presentation is fantastic!💯

This is one of the best i'v watched so far. Great video, very informative
Omg awww, thank you so much! I really appreciate the love. ❤️
Aaaahhh! I just started on 1/15/23 official coil twist day I did myself and 72 is my number as well😊👍

That’s okay ☺️🌱 Just give them to time to take their form!
