I restarted my locs twice from ages 19 to 29. Dealing with comments from friends and family and pregnancy hormones. The final time I was 3 kids in a realized that it was my hair, and I loved how locs made me feel more confident with myself. Once I stopped caring and owned my locs. That’s so dope to hear! Starting a new journey can be exhilarating. Congratulations on tying the knot on Friday! I’m so proud of you. Wishing you all the best on your new path ahead.❤️❤️❤️
I have had locs for 4 years, I thought about combing them out because I missed my loose natural hair that I wore for 10 years. Then I remembered how much work it was and why I got locs in the 1st place. I'm so glad that I found your channel.
I made the decision to lock my hair earlier this year and I’ve always preferred thick locs (especially when I was considering what I want for myself because I like my hair to have volume), and let me tell you the least supportive people have been my family members. My mom especially because she’s a Caribbean person and we have no one with locs in our family. I’ve already been told multiple times that people don’t like them, that they look “scary”, that they’re shaped weird, that I looked better with loose hair. But me and my locs are thriving, they’ve grown and developed so much in such a short period of time and I’m so proud of them. I was considering doing Marley braids because I have a big move coming up and I wanted some more convenience since my locs are at a sort of mid-length now (they’re shoulder length, from ear length when I started) but honestly they’re sitting really nicely and maybe I’m just finally starting to have good hair days because they’ve really been having a blast up there doing what they want up till the past two-ish weeks (I’m 5 months in). I went into this just wanting to live a better lifestyle and center myself in my own life so I can find my authentic self, and I wasn’t prepared for how spiritual this journey has been. I watched a lot of videos before I decided to loc and almost all of them said that locking is a spiritual journey and a journey to self-love and acceptance, I really should’ve listened to them because when I tell you I’ve never been so face to face with my trauma and finally having the strength to jump some serious hurdles. Whatever I decide to do, I’m really glad I stumbled across this video because the loc community has been so supportive and I’ve honestly never felt more *me*. My locs really are an extension of myself, and I was never a person who felt attached to their hair. Here’s to 5 months and many more 💕

I've had my locs for 3 years now. I've thought about combing them out a lot in the beginning but I kept telling myself its gonna pay off, how it is now is temporary and you're manifesting beautiful locs. Three years later i LOVE my locs and they're a little over bra strap length now. I love it here.
It took me until my late 40's. I know now many are taking them out. I have had every hairstyle known to man. I have even had an afro for a while, but even that was a chore for me. I love my locs. I love who I am still becoming. I really dont care what people think or how they look at me anymore. My hair is created for this style. We are not perfect, and we do not need to compare. Thank you for posting this video. :) TLDR: I had locs when I was 8. My dads gf at the time cut my hair while I was asleep because she said it looks like spiders. Needless to say I had some hair trauma for 3 years. I hated having perms, braids and extensions in the form of braids or twists. My hair is super thick and dense so it was bothersome. I am 22 now and have been natural for 11 years. Did a big chop and now my hair is long again. I really want to get locs again. I have 4C and love my natural hair. I just need the right loc-tition in my area. I don’t just want anyone to loc my hair. Plus I’m in tech/corporate and university but I already stand out. I just want to wear my hair and not have to get extensions.
Thank you Goddess my wife and son have had their locs for 4 years now, and they are beautiful. You touched every subject I had in my head. I have worn all the hair styles known to women, and now all the chemicals in hair and things have changed my mind. I have course hair, very nappy. I'm ready 💪 u sealed my research journey.
So much facts. Why I'm on my 3rd set now. I was natural for a decade but I'm the only one locd in my family and at my job and friends and family kept telling me they don't like locs and I shud just straighten it. 😮. Anyways. 1.5yrs in and u can't tell me nothing lol.
I’m so sorry to hear that the people close to you are hating on your locs, 😔I’m sure they’re beautiful and I bet you they will be singing a different tune when your locs get SUPER long ! It always happens like that…I’m so proud of you though, you are standing your ground because you love every part of yourself! Yaaaas queen! 👑
You can loc the hair and then wear a wig or some other style over it as they grow and as you get reties. Or just keep growing you hair until your ready. Or try natural braids or twist to get comfortable with the shrinkage
I’m on my 3rd set of locs. It was never a problem that caused me to cut them off. It was never a plan to have them forever, even now. I’ve had natural hair for 25 years. I’m committed to natural hair sometimes I want locs and other times I want it loose or shaved. I can’t imagine keeping the same style my entire life.
Precisely. This is my third set - usually when I hit 5 years, the length and weight becomes too much for me. But I've been natural my entire adult life and couldn't imagine any other way. That said, this is my favorite set of locs thus far. I'm not sure I'll ever fully get rid of these.
OMG, lol funny I saw this. I combed out my locs 5 months ago after being locs for a year. I could not imagine being tied to a forever hairstyle. I also started my locs when I started menopause. I feel like the mental and emotional roller coaster contributed to my overall feelings. Needless to say I really, really miss them. So I am restarting them today.
i get my first starter locs this saturday, and im ready to embrace this Journey , thanks for this video, u got a new suscriber. i will start doing videos of my journey
Thanks for posting this, Queen 👑 My body asked me if I wanted locs. I said " yes ". . . I love all of the tips you gave 💕 I feel loved and supported. . . My Dad, brother, sister and 1st cousins all have locs 😊
Wow Ana, you are so blessed to have such a strong loc support system already built into your life! And I LOVE the way you asked your body if it wanted locs. That means you’re 100% in tune with yourself. You’re gonna go far in life beautiful! Blessings ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I do like locs Because I don't like chemicals in my hair, and I'm going to get locs on my birthday, and that's September first, And that's going to be my special day, and thank you for the information
I’ve been flirting with the idea of locs for a while. My aunts and cousins have been encouraging it since they have locs. I’m about 🤏🏾 close to doing my starter locs. I’ve tried every hairstyle atp and I’m like I get nothing from any of these styles but temporary satisfaction 😂 and when I did faux locs I loved them I almost didn’t wanna take them out I felt so pretty with them lol. So I think I’m almost there.
Your locs are lovely 😊 I had locs for 17 years! I was the only locked family member and friend in my circle. 25 years ago when I started my locs, only NFL brothers had locs. (And Whoopi G.)
I’ve had locs 3 times from the ages of 13 to 21. I cut them because I had a high top fade and I wanted a full head of loc. I just restarted but this time I’m ready to keep them long term
Omg I really needed this. I’m going into my 4th month of my loc journey and my locs are budding so much and I’m not quite confident with my hair but this video really made me more confident.
Hey sis! 👋🏾 I’m just checking in with you, it’s been 4months now, how is your loc journey going? What are your pain points? What do you like and don’t like so far?
Hey sis! I’m still loving my journey. But the frizz! I’m so tempted to get them insta locked. I’ve been washing my hair with Peculiar Roots-Locs AVC Shampoo. My locs love it. No conditioner tho. Speaking of conditioner, when do you suggest I start using conditioner?
@@kaytrice7784 I’m so glad you’re loving your journey and hanging in there! Frizz is totally normal and part of the process, so try to embrace it. 🙂Insta-locking is an option, but no rush. Peculiar Roots is a great choice! As for conditioner, I’d hold off for now. It can loosen your locs early on. Once they’re more mature (8-12 months), you can try a light, residue-free one or a moisturizing spray.Your locs will let you know what they need! 💛
I love this content! Almost 6 years in and can say honestly my locs are my best hair decision 🤎Thanks for giving the reality of locs, do it for you and no one else period✨
Thank you K! Your locs are Gorgeous!!! I wish more women knew what we knew…locs can be the best hair decision one can ever make! Thank you for watching! 🫶🏾
Most High Christ bless sister. It's family that discouraged me and friends. I want locs for spiritual reasons. I come from a family that does too much to look like dem folks.
For me the hard part is getting used to the frizziness between reties. My hair when I do twist or braids get frizzy. So that’s my biggest eh. I like my hair super neat. My other thing is that I want really small locs. But I don’t love the look of super small boxes. So I’m just stuck
I have grown locs 4 times ... I was also loc'd for 6 years at some point BUT i have hair ... like I genuinely love the fact that i have hair and i can regrow any time. I don't think we should have to wronged for starting over and over 😂 I come from a family and country (eSwatini) where locs are a thing so that is also a factor. There's a loc'tition every other corner Anyways. It's a beautiful journey, i thoroughly enjoyed ALL my locs. Combing out this current set next week because i want braids 😊 Will loc again next year. Your video is good ... and lovely locs ❤ (we call them dreads)
I’m a month in and feel ugly because of the shrinkage. I don’t have the face for short hair. 😭 however with a baby, taking hair of my natural hair, including dying, was too much and also it always stayed the same length and with locs im hoping to gain length over time. Let’s see if I’ll stick to them.
Embracing your journey with locs is a beautiful decision, especially during this time with a new baby. Your courage to explore and grow with your hair is really inspiring! Keep nurturing yourself and your locs, and I’m sure you find beauty and confidence in every stage of your journey! 🫶🏾😘
Love this video. So many points where i felt appreciative of ur advice, as I’ve already heard negative comments and it’s been 1 week 🙄 Also ur so pretty 😭
Glad it was helpful! And sis, don’t let ANYONE bring you down! Your locs are beautiful and unique to you. Keep shining and don’t let ANYONE dull your light. ✨
Lol I was the only one locd in my family. My sister was the worse. She would frown her nose at me when she would see me. I’ve had friends tell me they didn’t like my hair. Baby I was in love with the real me and I hurt their feelings about their wigs and eyelashes lol. My husband gave me hard time because his mom didn’t like them. She said locs was a lazy woman hair duo and only gay women had locs of course he got a eat full . I even stop breaking bread with my beauty supply person about these locs. Needless to say I have changed family and friends and some have joined the loc community because of me lol hello.
You know what Sonia…I LIKE YOU!!! I love women who are in loves with their selves. You are self confident and STRONG, along with being beautiful( inside and out.) I got chills reading your comment. On behalf of the loc community, I want to say THANK YOU for standing on business and never caving into the expectations of others! 🫶🏾
Locs can be a straight STRUGGLE sometimes.I feel you. It can be frustrating when you're on your fourth set of locs and still not feeling quite confident in them. But don't give up just yet, sis! Remember, every journey is unique and it takes time to truly love and appreciate your locs. P.s Look out for my next upload, it’s about woman combing their locs out at a alarming rate, I think you will enjoy it!
Lol I’m glad the algorithm came through! Even though you gave me the side eye at first, I’m happy to see you stuck around to see what I was REALLY talking about. And I’m please to have made some valid points that that got though to you…now go loc up that hair and be the beauty God intended you to be! ❤️
Yes, definitely! you can use a pair of small scissors or a thin crochet hook to gently loosen and separate the loc. Just be sure to work slowly and carefully to avoid damaging your hair or causing any unnecessary breakage. Additionally, you can try using your fingers to separate the loc if it's not too tightly matted together. Again, patience is key! ❤️
I’m not a loctician , but I’m confident in saying I think it will be fine! I had a lot of hair on my head as well ( 4c hair at that!) when I started my locs and my locs come out cute! ☺️
@@LocinwithCByour hair is so beautiful. I think I’m ready to embark on this journey. I’ve been contemplating it for a couple years now and seems like the perfect time 💕
You know what, you’re absolutely right, black men definitely wear locs as well. I always felt the need to focused more on black woman with locs because from what I’ve observed, men have an easier time embracing their natural hair texture. What videos should I make for men with locs, any ideas? 🤔💭
I like some other ppls locs if they're well-kept but I tried twice and combed them out each time. I prefer my natural loose curls. My locs made me look too masculine in the face. There's no way I'm ever going to feel comfortable looking like a man in the face so that's just that. Still comfortable in my own skin, just didn't personally like the look on myself. (This was MY personal experience I'm not saying other women look masculine with them).
I totally get this. I got my starter locs a few days ago and I’m really insecure about my short hair because it makes me look like a boy. I’m trying to love and embrace but it’s hard when you wanna look pretty in your own skin as well

@@LocinwithCB I missed YOU!!! So glad I subscribe and receive notifications as soon as you post!! 🤩😀👍🏻
Omg I really needed this. I’m going into my 4th month of my loc journey and my locs are budding so much and I’m not quite confident with my hair but this video really made me more confident.
Omg! Your comment made me feel so good! Thank you and Enjoy the journey beautiful! Also, welcome to the loc community, we love you already! 🫶🏾
😭😭 omg watching the beginning had me looking with a side eye
Lol I caught you off guard, huh? Lol 😂
Wow u r giving me alot to think about thank you
My pleasure 😊❤️
I started my loc journey on 6/30/24. Two strand twists and interlocked my roots. I’m in here sis! ❤🙌🏽🙏🏽
I l❤ve my locs 7 years of love
I love this content! Almost 6 years in and can say honestly my locs are my best hair decision 🤎Thanks for giving the reality of locs, do it for you and no one else period✨
Thank you K! Your locs are Gorgeous!!! I wish more women knew what we knew…locs can be the best hair decision one can ever make! Thank you for watching! 🫶🏾
I completely agree, I’ve never loved my hair more. I’m 9 months in. I am afraid of a loc fall out tho lol
On my 3rd set now, Its been 4 years since I started mine during covid. Best decision I made💙
Me too!
You Are So Right. I Insta Locked My Hair And Undid Them In 2 Days. I LITERALLY Had A Mental Breakdown 😢
I mean this is THE BEST video I have seen.
Thank you luv! 🫶🏾
Most High Christ bless sister. It's family that discouraged me and friends. I want locs for spiritual reasons. I come from a family that does too much to look like dem folks.
I feel you. I’m the only one in my WHOLE family that has locs 😳
This is the first Loc video I clicked on actually. 🤣 I am writing at the start of the video, I hope by the end I decide whether I am ready lmao
You only live once and tomorrow is not promised…just do it!!!😉
@LocinwithCB When I can afford a loctitian sure. Sadly money is a barrier.
I’m sold! I’m getting them 🎉
Yeeeeees! Let’s gooooo! You’ll love it here sis, I promise! 💪🏾
Absolutely loved this video! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! And thank you for watching! 🙏🏾❤️
For me the hard part is getting used to the frizziness between reties. My hair when I do twist or braids get frizzy. So that’s my biggest eh. I like my hair super neat. My other thing is that I want really small locs. But I don’t love the look of super small boxes. So I’m just stuck
There are other parting styles than square/box! Maybe one of those styles will fit you better?
I'm not fond of locs
but yours looks ROYAL!
Omg! Thank you! 🥹
Ohhhh this!!! Im starting my journey in May and this was timely 😌 Thank you ❤
No, thank YOU for watching, commenting and soon joining the local community! 🫶🏾I just know your locs is gonna be fire! 🔥
I have grown locs 4 times ... I was also loc'd for 6 years at some point BUT i have hair ... like I genuinely love the fact that i have hair and i can regrow any time. I don't think we should have to wronged for starting over and over 😂
I come from a family and country (eSwatini) where locs are a thing so that is also a factor. There's a loc'tition every other corner
Anyways. It's a beautiful journey, i thoroughly enjoyed ALL my locs. Combing out this current set next week because i want braids 😊
Will loc again next year.
Your video is good ... and lovely locs ❤ (we call them dreads)
Thank you for the love! Your comment was very informative ❤️
The stare got me to stay
Lol I'm not on the journey but after my pregnancy 9 months ago I think my hair locking anyway 😂 so I've come to terms this is what I want
Well said!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you beautiful! 🫶🏾
I’m a guy and I follow the loc mentality
It was one and done. I loved the journey but I I only want to experience it one time.
And that’s PERFECTLY fine sis! I wish more woman would explore and take that leap of exploring a loc journey. 🤗
I want locs, but im indecisive. Also, watching tons of videos and looking at pics is confusing. I need help, lol
This is the video I needed😊.
I really needed to hear this ❤❤
I'm happy my words could offer you some comfort or support! If you ever need to talk more, I'm here for you! ❤️❤️
Me on set 4 thinking about combing them out. 😂
The algorithm truly sent you my way…I was side-eyeing at first but points were made! Thank you for the encouragement 🫶🏾✨
Lol I’m glad the algorithm came through! Even though you gave me the side eye at first, I’m happy to see you stuck around to see what I was REALLY talking about. And I’m please to have made some valid points that that got though to you…now go loc up that hair and be the beauty God intended you to be! ❤️
I work in a salon and I'm the only one who has locs🙄go figure
Thanks for sharing! This is a great video🤎
Thanks for listening! I appreciate you! ❤️
just started my journey yesterday 😊😊😊😊
Yeees!!! You’re gonna love it here…I promise!
Your locs are beautiful.
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
Micro locs are the best I’ve decided
Low maintenance and beautiful! I ❤️ micros ☺️
Locs dreadlocks i love em all
Me too twin!! 💕💕❤️
Really like your hairstyle. How did you achieve that bun, I want it! Lol
Thank you sm! Imma do a short step by step tutorial on this hairstyle…stay tuned!
Two years in, started two strand twist, I would like to separate some locs and make them smaller, any suggestions please thanks
I have a lot of hair on my head, and my hair is 20 inches long. Is it a bad idea to lock it as is?
I’m not a loctician , but I’m confident in saying I think it will be fine! I had a lot of hair on my head as well ( 4c hair at that!) when I started my locs and my locs come out cute! ☺️
Beautiful video. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for watching! ❤️
My 2nd time will be Friday. Im nervous. Lol
Don’t be nervous babes, you got this! I promise you, you’ll love it and you’ll be fine! ☺️
@@LocinwithCB thanks 😊
👍 Thank you 👑
Thanks 💗🌸
You're welcome 😊
i love you
❤️❤️❤️
🤩
🤩 back at cha!
Did you start your own locs?
Nope, went to a shop where they started my 80 comb coils! ☺️
@@LocinwithCByour hair is so beautiful. I think I’m ready to embark on this journey. I’ve been contemplating it for a couple years now and seems like the perfect time 💕
You think maybe in the future you could make a video not just tailored to women? Black men wear locs also…
You know what, you’re absolutely right, black men definitely wear locs as well.
I’m trying to love and embrace but it’s hard when you wanna look pretty in your own skin as well
I don't give a fjck what society thinks is masculine or feminine. I just look however I want, and stand confidently.
@@2lav1sh a boy and a girl can look any type-a way. You are pretty, no matter how long or short your hair is.
@@SkyeID I was speaking about myself in regards to MY journey when I tried it. No need to be hostile if you’re happy with your journey. Go outside and breathe - wasn’t directed towards you personally.
@@SkyeID keyword: “made ME look masculine” not sure why that riled you up but I’m too old to get hostile over a hair convo so I’ll exit 😂🤷🏽♀️
