I guess since I am starting my loc journey at 54, I already know that I do not want my Locs to grow past shoulder length. However I wear my hair, healthy hair is always my ultimate goal.

I just crossed over three years and I have these days where I contemplate starting over... for no good reason. That reset button you talked about. However I keep pressing on forward. Yes, I was one of those ppl who couldn't wait for the length. But once you get it you realize health is more important than length. I cut mine last year before the cut my locs were past my boobs and I cut them to shoulder length tell me why they're almost the same length as before I cut them now. A trim is no biggie it'll grow back...Funny 1/25/2025 was a day that all the planets were in alignment

A powerful story… I got my first relaxer because some other black girl teased me about my hair. She pretended that she cut her finger on my hair and had the whole bus laughing at me. I am going to start my loc journey because I want to embrace my natural hair and for once in my life love my hair for what it is.

I have an appointment coming up for my starter locs and have not shared it with many people due to the reaction that I know I will receive. ive had locs for almost 2 years now, and i originally got them bc ive never known how to do my natural hair (4c, i grew up with my mom doing my hair lol), and i love how low maintenance it is while still looking nice :) (i interlock every 5 months, dont bother retwisting bc i have seb derm and have to wash twice a week lol and i prefer the non retwisted look anyway). i cant wait till theyre down my back lolol, currently a bit past my shoulders but i want them LONG 🤣

You are definitely so right especially about the traveling point. I'm getting ready to go on a cruise and started thinking about what hair products I'll need to take. But the list is simply travel sized shampoo, conditioner to wash the chlorine out and a small bottle of oil because I have locs 😊😂. When I was a loose natural it was shampoo, conditioner, gel, leave in conditioner, detangling brush, clips etc. That travel freedom is priceless just by itself

thanks for this. i had to cut my locs off and im not a girl so I had to start all over all (only an inch of hair left sadly) because I got a decent internship at an office here in NYC. Even though my parents had that warped mindset of locs in corporate America and now without my locs, I'm still so happy to see you defending others with their locs in the corporate setting.

I never thought about being the only one. I’m used to not following trends and what everyone else is doing so it’s just normal for me… but for a lot of ppl… it is a big thing… a lot of ppl do follow styles and trends as they come out so being the only one would feel weird! 🤔

Can I do locs with 3c hair? Shorter it might be 4a

First I'm a year and maybe 4 months. If I had to do it all again I wouldn't assume just because someone is a sister loctician And on the registry for sister locs that they know how to do Microlocs. I have so many LUMPY LOCS and thin locs hanging on for dear life. I see where she did sister locs on other people and did a good job where their locs have a nice cyliner shape. I went in letting her know I didn't know anything about locs. But talking to her realize I couldn't afford sister locs so she thought microlocs would work for me. I thought by just going to her she would do a Excellent job. Didn't know she wouldn't REALLY CARE and just taking my money.

I’m 4 months in but a life time natural I been in corp for 23 years went for a promotion, they passed on me and now I have to go into a meeting tomorrow morning for concerns on my performance. Mind you it’s an all yt male environment.
