I’ve had locs for almost 15 years and I agree. Enjoy every stage because your hair will never do that again- unless you start over. There’s no such thing as an ugly stage.
Thank you SE, being that you’ve been loc’d for that long, I know your wise when it comes to locs! ENJOY👏🏾 EVERY 👏🏾 STAGE!
❤❤❤❤exactly
I would stand in the mirror for 6 hours every week to style my loose curly hair. I had 25 inches of hair and went to a loc stylist to get instant locs because I wanted to skip a few stages. She wanted 2,000 dollars for that because of my hair length. I got tired of the run around and all the different prices, so I did them myself. I’m only 4 months into my traditional loc journey and I made the right decision.
Girl….you say $2,000?? 😳wow, that’s CRAZY! I’m so happy you decided to do them yourself, you saved yourself some serious cash. And I bet your locs is gonna turn out to be so beautiful!
I’m 8 months in and LOVING IT! My only regret is not starting sooner❤
This is my 2 journey with my locs and I am in my 3 month. You are so right on how time will fly. In my first journey the journey went by so fast...4 years...I love it. These locs will stay permanently at the age of 61 years of age. Your hair looks beautiful and thanks for your channel. Make more.
Hi!! I’ve been Loc’d for 1 year and 9 months. Something that I’d do differently is that I’d get my hair retwisted more often during the starter months. I remember watching so many videos of people saying that waiting a couple months between retwist would thicken them up, but I believe that to be contrary for me😂 My locs started to thin out and I didn’t understand why, but it was because I waited too long between retwists so certain strands of my hair would bud into other locs. Now, I retwist every month or so and I noticed my locs are thickening back up. :)
Same girl!!!! My first set started thinning a few months in. Now my second set is thriving and I make sure to get my hair retwisted every month.
Could you kindly let me know what you mean by retwisting? Does that imply crotcheting?
I'm about a week in with my starter locs . Twisted them myself & currently enjoying the beginner stage . I realize they have a long way to go but I'm excited , been a loooong time coming
That’s the #1 regret most people w/ locs have when it comes to their hair…they wish they would have loc’d their hair sooner! I’m so excited for you Jes! ❤️❤️❤️
I will be 3 years loc'd on the 22. During the earlier stages of my loc journey, I was insecure about the size of my locs. Unfortunately, I compared my locs with other loc'd girlies (I know, that's a no-no, but it was my reality at that time) only to see that so many of the loc influencers I followed have gotten rid of their locs (for various reasons). In hindsight, I would have adored every stage of my locs and trusted the process a bit more. I am pleased to say I am currently in LOVE with my locs! They have transitioned in so many ways that I never thought were possible.
3 years!!! Woo hoo! 🥳thank u for dropping your truth! It's wild how our views shift over time, huh? And I understand the struggle with comparison ( I’ve done it too!) but it's dope you've come to love your locs! Keep rocking that confidence and embracing your journey. Here's to many more years of self-love and positive vibes with your locs!
That’s when I birthed my locs 3/22/24❤
Not only fans for locs 😂. I was so in love with my hair in the beginning. Even tho people called me The Weekend, I was proud of them. I think that I started to get impatient at the 1 year mark, because it got to that awkward length that your locs bend and stick out awkwardly when you let them hang loose, but where they're way too short to put up in a byn (for me at least since i started with only 47 locs).
Now I'm 3 years and 8 months is, and I'm absolutely in love. If i'd ever start over i'd either freeform or go down to 30 perhaps 🤔. Or i'd go for more locs (80 max) for a bit more volume, but thin locs aren't for me, i know that much.
It sounds like you've gone through quite the journey with your locs! Embracing and loving your hair at every stage is soooooo important. Your journey and insights are truly inspiring. 🥹
I’m so glad I didn’t get loc extensions I’m 2 years and 6 months loced I’m happy I went natural way ❤😊🎉
😂😂😂 the shimmy got me cracking up!! 😂
June 16 would make a month for me and I love it so far! I just can’t wait until they flourish.
I am 4 years locked (as of 2 days ago). If I had to restart my journey, I would have skipped retwisting and went straight to interlocking. I have 280ish microlocs and I have been washing my hair twice a week since I started my journey. Interlocking from the beginning would have really helped me keep my roots separated. Everything is fine now but I essentially had to rediscover my grid in the beginning because of the amount of marrying. Smh.
I just discovered your channel and sooo thankful for it. You are hilarious! Most importantly informative and relatable. I am 7 months into my loc journey. On 2/22/2024 I two-strand my hair with the idea of keeping it up for 2 weeks to let my hair chill until I figured out my next hairstyle. Well over the weeks I loved how my hair looked and I decided to allow my hair to loc. Everyone called me crazy but something in my spirit said do it! Well, I am 3 different locticians in and have days of doubt. Luckily my husband who had locs for 6 years roots me on to be positive about the experience and I try! Your video reminds me of his words "enjoy the journey." Lol I can't lie I did not want to hear but I knew he was right and you saying it just doubled down on it! Thank you for your encouragement. You have my subscription!
Thank you Mrs. Daniel’s for subscribing. I appreciate you! ❤️❤️❤️ I’m so excited that you started your journey and want you to know how LUCKY you are to have a partner rooting for you, that’s a godsend. I pray many blessings come your way beautiful!
@@LocinwithCB thank you so much! ❤️
6 months in and no regrets! I can't think of anything I would have done differently. My loctician believes in a very minimalist approach in terms of products and I have been following her instructions. I have only been using water, rose water and an occasional leave in (homemade) and interlocking the roots. My hair has contracted to less than half the length and I am enjoying my shorter hair so much. The only things that have bothered me is having to pop my locs (I am tender headed) and a small amount of lint when I used aloe vera gel once. I stopped using it and haven't had any issues since then. I am hoping my hair is healthy and surprised at how soft it is despite not using any oils. I love your videos!
Thank you! And I feel you on the pain of “ popping” your locs. In a perfect world, us loc heads would NEVER have to deal with that! 😖 On a brighter note, I’m SO happy your enjoying your loc journey so far, I’m rooting for YOU!!! ❤️
I binged watched your loc videos about 6 months ago when I was on the fence about getting locs. I decided to do it and now I will be officially 6 months loc’d on April 11th 🎉 it’s truly the best decision I’ve made and I don’t see myself ever going back! I hope you are doing ok and Im so glad to see your videos back on my screen 😘
Thank you so much for sharing your journey with me! I'm thrilled to hear that my videos helped you make the decision to get locs, and even more so that you're loving them. Congrats on your upcoming 6-month milestone! I’m so PROUD u. Your support means the world to me. Oh, and welcome to the loc family! 🥰
❤❤❤❤❤ congratulations on your journey, I’m a couple of days in❤
@@erikat.8882Thank you and congratulations to you as well, I hope you enjoy every moment 💖
At 65 yrs. I am at my 2nd year of my hair being loc'd. The only thing I would change is that I wish I could have started my loc journey at least 5 years ago. At least.. I love it..
🤣🤣Sorry! I just got a visual of a bonnet sitting in front of the tv watching Netflix🤣🤣! You don't know how much I needed to hear that! I CAN'T Stand wearing bonnets and invested in silk pillowcases. You won't believe that was causing me stress about getting locs since that's all I hear! I am setting my appointment now! Thanks, and absolutley love your content. Subscribing😆
I’ve been loc’ed for 8 months, approaching the nine month mark. In love with every moment of these locs, I haven’t even had a style yet. I’ve been on the fence, this video has convinced me to get a style at my next retwist. From my loc number, to my loctician I wouldn’t change a thing, but I would’ve tried Freeform. The fro locs are beautiful.
Congrats on 8months being loc’d beautiful!! 🎉I’m so happy to hear your enjoying your journey so far…and your right, Freeform locs do have such a unique beauty. It’s dope that you're open to exploring different looks. Thank you for watching and commenting 🫶🏾
Just started my journey August 16th and I’m so excited for this journey your page calmed me down on the semi rush of wishing they where longer but he I’m here ❤❤❤
I’m so happy my video could offer you some comfort ❤️I can’t wait to hear how your loc journey is going! Please share when you have the time.
Hello I'm just starting about 3weeks now and it is a journey I love it .Hated I waited til I turned 55 but I'm so excited for this part of my life and I did start off with the little worms but they're my
I live by an old saying “ better late than never!” I’m so happy you decided to follow your heart and loc it up, whether your 5 or 55, locs look amazing on black people! ✊🏾
I've been loc'd almost 3 years. If I started over today I might get them smaller. Not sisterlocs necessarily, but smaller comb coils.
Girl you speak the truth! You are my loc bestie in my head! I am almost 6 years in with waist length locs and i use no products. I use rose water and oil and that is it. Now i do drink a lot of water and i know that has something to do with it. Love your channel sis!
We locked in sis! your locs are GORGEOUS!! You’re now my loc bestie as well ❤️🤞🏾✨
I’ve had my Locs for about 14 years and I would have my logician part the sections smaller in the front of my head. I think Sis got tired by the time she got to the top of my head when she was installing my lock and got a little lazy frankly.😂 I had stalked content creators on RUclips prior to locking so I was pretty well-versed in what to expect and I knew to “enjoy“ the journey. I just really watch your videos because I love your POV. I think it’s good to help people when they’re just getting started at work about to start. the natural hair community has changed so much since back when I started as a loose natural in 2004. Keep up the good work. your locs are beautiful!
I was having a pretty crappy day today…then I read your comment! Thank you for leaving such encouraging words and brightening up my day! 🫶🏾
3 months loc’d!!!
I’m in love with the journey and they mean so much to me already
I love to hear this, I’m literally smiling from ear to ear reading your comment!
I love how my hair looks when I put in lock style extensions like butterfly locs etc. They really suit my face and it's the style that gets me the MOST compliments. However, I am scared it will not look so good with real locs 😩
I started my two strands twist loc journey today🎉 so excited. Can't wait to start styling
I did too! I guess we are in it together
I’m one and a half months in with little worms locs lol. This is the most relatable loc video I’ve ever seen. When you said ditch the bonnet silk pillow case, I was like I know I couldn’t be the only one! All these tips! I knew it’s was a better way! 😂
I’ve been loc’d for 5 years. I love them and would not change anything.
I started my locs about 3 months ago and I'm loving it. I hated doing my hair so this was the right decision for me.
Girl, I HATED doing my hair! The flat ironing, perms, weaves, wigs etc. it was just too much 😩 Now I LOVE styling my locs , it’s so much easier.
Hi, I’m new here and only 3 days in…They are to my ears 😔and I’m still shy abt wearing them but I’m going to try and enjoy this journey🙏🏾
Gurrrrl I'm going to get ME some Locs now!
Omg!! I’m SCREAMING 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I can’t with you sir! 🤣
Hey girl! I've been loc'd 6 months and im loving this journey. If i could do it over i wouldn't cut off my ends. After getting my hair twisted they just looked so thin i figured they wouldn't thicken up. Also i would keep a closer eye in my locs cause some bunched up so much a few locs look like they're gonna be really bumpy
Hey there!! Six months into the loc journey? That's what's up! Don't worry about those thin ends, they'll thicken up with time and love. Just keep nurturing those locs, and they'll flourish. Keep an eye on those bunched-up ones, a little TLC goes a long way. You got this, beautiful! And your hat is GORGEOUS btw! 😮💨 Thank u for commenting and watching, it means the world to me! ❤️
I’ve been waiting to loc my hair for YEARS. It’s a big commitment and I would be so upset if I didn’t like they looked. What if they are boneless? What if I never get the length? What if I get sick of look at my big forehead head everyday because it’s not hiding behind my big curls? I REALLY wana loc my hair. Just scared to.
I don’t have loc’s I have tried them 3x’s already ready. The 1st time I didn’t know anything and the second time they were breaking off and the third time they were too big for my hair. My hair is thin and soft. I will be doing a consultation tomorrow hopefully.
I can’t wait to hear how your consultation went! 🙌🏾
I have my starter loc appt Wednesday. I'm so excited and this video has been very helpful! Thanks. Your locs are beautiful! ❤❤
Im so EXCITED for you sis!! I'm glad the video was helpful, and I appreciate the compliment! ❤️ Best of luck with your appointment on Wednesday-I'm sure your locs will turn out 🔥🔥🔥!
May 18th journey begins!!! So excited. Love your hair
@LocinwithCB Thanks. I did it! I'm "loc'd!" I posted a video. I heard about the beginning rollercoaster...but hunie!! I'm trusting the process though! ✌🏿💙
😂 Little worms on your head- hilarious! My little worms (2 and 1/2 years) have come down to neck length and can't wait until shoulder length! I'm enjoying my loc journey. What are your loc care staple products-oils, gels, shampoos etc?
I'm one week in and I'm loving it 🎉❤
4:35 😂😂😂😂 the bonnet watching Netflix
Everything that you’re saying is 💯 percent correct ❤ I got mine this past Friday and I promise I’m going to embrace and love on my new babies ❤
I love to hear this! Embracing and loving on your new babies sounds like the perfect plan. Wishing you all the joy and happiness on your new loc journey! 💕
@@LocinwithCB❤ thank you so much
I’m on my 3rd week tomorrow! 😮😮
🥳🥳🎉
i can’t wait til my locs get that longgg 🥰
Girl, before you know it, your locs is gonna be cascading down your back, they grow QUICK!
Not the bonnet watching Netflix 😂 I use a Satan pillow case and bonnet 😅
I’m almost 5 years locked now and I personally like to spray my hair with a leave in conditioner, oil, water mix(mostly diluted with water) every week or so and massage it in. But most the time I use a mix of half water half aloe vera juice✨ That way, I can prevent build up while keeping my hair moisturized(curse you high porosity hair😭)
Its been 1 year and 9 since i looked them and i must say i agree less is more with the products am so gald i have my mother and sister who have push me to enjoy the enjoy while my length is average length plat the cute styles and i must say am enjoying it and i never thought they would suit me but am glad i did 🎉🎉🎉❤❤
I’m starting my loc journey in 2 days im so excited and nervous 😭😭😭
Jamaya, I don’t even know you personally and I’m GENUINELY excited for you!!! I’m also proud of you for embracing your natural beauty! 🫶🏾 please keep me updated on your loc journey sis and congrats!
I have been locd for 4 years I think i would compare less if i was to start over. and appreciate them more
I had locs previously in the past but I don’t know what I did wrong. The perimeter of my hair started to thin really bad. Also my hair grew outside the locs so I was recommended to retwist every 4-6 weeks. Which I didn’t like due to funds. But I’m reconsidering.
July will make two years and the only thing I would do differently is get microlocks instead of sisterlocks because I don't feel like it's a difference. Other than that get them sooner and not care what people have to say! I love my hair omg!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
I feel you sis, I love my hair too! It's inspiring to hear how much you've embraced your natural hair and the choices you've made along the way. I bet your locs are gorgeous! Thank you so much for watching 🫶🏾
I started my journey of locs, and January of next year will be 2 years. But if I could do anything different it would have to be I would have started them sooner. But I am loving the journey as they are just getting length
Yup…I always say the same thing…I would have stated mines sooner!
I have locs extensions and they've never fallen off but if I went back to the past I wouldn't do them...like I just don't need them but i stick with them because i paid
Thank you for sharing your experience Daniel! Can you please share with me why if you could go back you wouldn’t get them again?
You're hilarious! You match my energy 😂👏🏿
I know that’s right! Hey twin! 😘
Godly Morning my sister,
I just cut my pixie relaxer out (shaved sides) to start my loc journey..
3 months in, thanks for the advice
No problem, hang in there and thanks for watching!!! 🫶🏾
Should I clip my straight ends
locked since this sunday (2days ago) and loving it 🤩 thx for the vid will def wash them
Yesss!! Welcome to the loc family! You’re gonna love it over here…I promise! 🤞🏾
Just starting my loc journey, ty for the advice😊
That’s what’s up Keiko, I’m so proud of you 👏🏾 👏🏾👏🏾 welcome to the loc family!
I'm 2 years 11 months loc'd now. I love the journey but I have impatient moments, if loc extensions weren't so expensive I'd probably start my journey with extensions.
I started My journey 6 weeks ago with 2 strand twists. The unraveling is no joke lol But I'm going to keep on keeping on lol
That’s what I’m talkin’ bout…I love me a positive person! 🙌🏾 I love your attitude
The intro 😂😂😂😂
I had to keep it spicy! Lol 😂
30 seconds into the video 😂 definitely had to subscribe.
I’ve been loc’d for 2 years 7 months and if I started my loc journey over again, I would get a full head instead of high top lol
I started my locs journey a month ago, I'm a new sub.
I know this video is a little old, but I’ve been braiding (box braids and now knotless) my hair since I was about 10. Now 22, I’m so tired of synthetic hair in my head as well as toxic and non-natural products. I want to use a shampoo bar when I get locs but do you think it would be bad to use a bar instead of a liquid soap and conditioner.
10 months locd. I don’t think I would do anything different. I had my ups and downs in the beginning but I enjoy my medium sized locs. And I hate loc extensions and instant locs bc you were not in the trenches with us. 😂❤
You are so funny!!! ❤️
Stay tuned girl, more hilarity coming your way! 🤣
girl the only reason i aint locd yet is bc i’m broke 😭 yah girl need some moula
Best intro
Thank you friend! I’ve been working on trying to open up more and be myself with y’all 🫶🏾
The 1 thing I would’ve done differently is I would have done natural parts instead of grid parting
I can’t lie, I feel you sis. I probably would have changed my parts to diamonds.
I have had my loc hair for 4 years and I recently like last week pulled them out cause of postpartum hair loss.
Girl noooo! Dont tell me that! I hope u feel better 😢
I've been loc'd almost a year now
I’m a year and 4 months in, and what would I change if I could start over? I would not have taken so long to start. I started with a Mohawk, shaved sides snd back. I thought I had to wait until the shaved parts were grown out a bit, so I waited until they grew out about an inch.
You know what? “ not taking so long to start my loc Journey” has probably been the most popular answer to this question and I agree, what was taking me sooooo long to start my locs??? What was I so afraid of?? 🤷🏾♀️Oh well…I guess what matters now is we’re here and we’re LOCKED & loving it!! ☺️
Day 3 microbraid locs...❤
Wait is that a Janet Jackson shirt? 👀❤️
It is!! You’re the only one that peeped it Lol I’m a huge fan!
@@LocinwithCB me too lol!
I’m 8 months in next month
Congrats Renata!! I promise, you’re gonna love it here! ❤️How is your loc journey going so far?
Re: loc extensions-If they were coming out that means they were put in incorrectly.
How did you start? With coils or 2 strand twist?
Comb coils 😎
I was just staring at you thinking you are so beautiful. Then it came to me. You look like a more beautiful and melanated Angelina Jolie.
Awwww! Thank you for watching and for the lovely compliment ( I love Angelina btw!) you just made my day! 🥰
Oh my goodness, you're right!!!!😂😂
Aug of this year will make my locs 2 years❤. What would I do different? Learn how to do my own retwist, and just simply use water as a moisturizer, and try to only use one oil product. 😂
Congratulations on reaching the two-year mark with your locs! 🥳It sounds like you've developed a great routine. And learning to do your own retwist and simplifying your moisturizing routine is a dope way to maintain healthy locs. Keep up the good work! 🫶🏾
1 month loc
Woo hoo! Congrats!! 🎉 I promise, you’re gonna love it here! 😉
Less is more in so many ways
I couldn’t agree more!
