Kit Lens vs Prime Lens: Which One To Use and When?

Confused between a kit lens (zoom lens) and a prime lens? In this video, we show you the differences between a kit lens and prime lens and how you can take wide angle shots with a kit zoom lens and shallow depth of field shots from the prime lens. You should also get a clear idea of when you should use a kit lens or a prime lens.
We are demonstrating this video using the Canon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens and the Canon 50mm f/1.8 prime lens. The cameras we are using are the Canon EOS 70D and the Canon EOS 750D.

Muhammad Kamran ....prime lenses have fixed focal length, 30mm, 50mm etc.
what you want is a telephoto lens. if u use a kit lens 18-55mm, you can go for 55-300 mm telephoto. that way u can cover the entire range 18-300mm. if you want a single lens...go for Tamron 16-300, single lens, works well for all purposes.

1:50 - Prime lens at 50mm offers highest aperture of F1.8

jay patel Mirrorless is a better technology and much easier to use than a dslr..

2. Lesser size
3. WiFi connectivity
4. Electronic ViewFinder / LCD Preview / Real-Time View
5. Electronic Shutter (most DSLR use Mechanical Shutter) / Silent Shooting (more silent than DSLR)
6. Most of mirrorless camera has built-in OIS (as for DSLR, they rely on the lenses' OIS)
7. Better AF with videos (no mirror to stay open upon recording videos)
Still using my very first camera, Fujifilm X-T10 with 16-50mm Kit lens, Prime 35mm F2 and Zoom 50-140mm F2.8

This video is really about the difference between a zoom lens and a prime lens.
A kit lens is the lens that usually comes with the camera when you buy a camera body in a package that comes with a lens and other photographic accessories.
The lens that comes in the package or kit may be zoom lens or a prime lens. For example:
a. The first interchangeable lens 35mm film camera I purchased in 1967 came in a package or kit with 50mm prime lens.
b. The last interchangeable lens 35mm film camera I purchased came in a package or kit with an 18-55mm zoom lens.
c. In 2018, I purchased an interchangeable lens digital mirrorless camera in a package or kit that included a 23mm prime lens.
