    This gentleman needs his own television show. The clarity about how he explains the most complex things is almost an art form. Let me go and get my kit lens and leave some of these expensive lens home🤣😎. Lol

      He is probably not that much wrong in some cases.
      I had for years a 18-55mm kit lens (the time before IS or STM was in them!), all the other lenses i had were prime macros, a telezoom and so... not really a lens which could replace the "standard" focal range of the kit. So despite having a few more expensive lenses, i often used only the kit lens because the other ones had more or less special cases i didnt need at this events.
      But looking behind - i guess its still (next to a fast, cheap 50mm prime) somehow needed at the point you know you like photography that you search as fast as possible for a kit lens replacement. Doesnt have to be any 24-70 L or so, but at least something with better IS and proper USM, bigger aperture (with probably more blades) and if possible better imaging quality than the kit.
      I personally still am looking (since nearly 10 years, lol) for a proper "universal" lens with a useful variety anywhere between 15-80mm and GOOD imaging quality, upgraded already twice (first to a 28-105 USM, then a 28-135 IS USM) but these lenses are barely better than the kit lens (when it comes to image quality, anything else is "superior" like superfast AF, more zoom, bigger aperture, etc)

    I watched a video by a very famous photographer recently where he was asked about portraiture for beginner photographers, and he used a 100mm 1.8 lens in his explanation.
    The only thing I thought throughout the video was: what new photographer is going to own that lens right off the bat?
    Your video is much more sensible, and it deserves more views.

    I want to say thank you for uploading this video. I have been using a point and shoot for many years and now I have just purchased my first DSLR nikon 3500 with a kit lens 18 to 55. I have been watching other photography videos and the were featuring this lens. However all they could do was talk down on the lens because it was so "cheap". I am still learning photography and this camera was a big investment. Those videos made me feel pretty low for buying such a lens. Your video was so much uplifting and I felt good again for getting the camera. The camera will be here in two days and I'm very excited. Thank you again.

    Man, I wish I watched this video when I was first starting out... he dropped a lot of knowledge, in an easy to understand way. As photographers, we can fall into the trap of wanting 'better' gear all the time. Invest in learning before splashing the cash... but when it comes time to break away from the kit lens, I'd highly recommend (depending on what you shoot) to invest into a 24-70mm - and ideally a continuous aperture lens. I'd only advise people to pick up a prime once they know what their favourite focal length is, and perhaps why they like to shoot with it.

      @@PhotographyPro Which lens would be my next option for photography? Thanks in advance.

    • @PhotographyPro
      @PhotographyPro  4 года назад +1

      @@RobertRodriguez19 It really depends on what you want to shoot as to which lens you invest in next. For wildlife photographers, a good telephoto lens is key. For portrait photographers, perhaps a 35mm or 50mm prime lens would be useful. For landscape photographers, perhaps a wide angle lens. I think its best to decide what kind of photos you want to create and then choose a lens which can get you doing just that :)

    • @RobertRodriguez19
      @RobertRodriguez19 4 года назад +1

      @@PhotographyPro thank you very much, I think the 50mm would a be my choice since I would be doing portrait photography. But there would be cases where I might need to shoot kind of landscape thanks for your recommendations 😊

    • @PhotographyPro
      @PhotographyPro  4 года назад

      @@RobertRodriguez19 You are very welcome! A 50mm lens can also work well for a more close up landscape shot so it does sound like a good choice :)

    The kit lenses can be great. I've actually used them to successfully photograph an entire wedding. I can't wait till I have enough to purchase a 24-70 F2.8 for better quality what I was able to do with the kit lens was still great. No I am not a pro and likely never will take that step but still I am enthused enough to have shoot over 100,000 photos over 14 years.

      @@AayyMax Because most of the wedding was in good light and when it wasn't I used my flash. I never said it was as good as a F2.8, just that used right it can be a "good" lens. Never said it was the best.
