Hi, great video! I've been trying to start with photography for the last 5 years and I'm always coming back to basics. But this is probably the best video on lenses I have seen so far. Thank you 😉
@kanasts7 so do you have a camera or just thinking about it? I know for me i always wanted one and would see them advertised and anyways wanted one but didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a really expensive one finally after years i ended up taking a photography class at a local college and ended up buying a used body and a lens for a little over $200 man my only regret is not doing it sooner. You really could get a camera for less if you're really watching used ones for sale and if you dont need the newest thing, I went with a canon t2i and a brand new Canon 50mm 1.8 but you could find a used body and kit lens cheaper and honestly wish I had a kit lens. I love my 50mm but would like the flexibility of a kit lens, I know I could buy a used one but for what they go for by themselves I would rather just buy a used 17-55 2.8 but then I debate on a 17‐55 2.8 or to sacrafice a bit of wide angle and 2.8 for a 24-105 f4 which will work on a full frame. I should honestly just buy the 17-55 already or sigma 17-50 i don't think I'll regret it because I could resell and get my money back anyway, and ive rented the 17-55 and loved it!

Hey bro, awesome video man. Really helped me a lot. One question tho, when you started photography or for someone coming back into photography etc, what lens would be good to get?
It totally depends on the camera brand, camera body, budget, and what you like to shoot. Some of my all-time favorites though have been the Canon 24mm f/2.8, Canon 50mm f/1.8, Sigma 17-50 f/2.8, Sigma 18-35 f/1.8, and Sigma 30mm f/1.4.

A few things to remember. First, the lens focal lengths are stated for FULL FRAME sensors. Your camera is a Canon crop sensor, or also called aps-c. The focal length you are shootin at is the focal length on the lens times 1.6. That's why with an aps-c, 50mm and 80mm lenses are so good at portraits. That's also why a 24mm lens on your camera is so good for street photography and most indoor shooting. It's also why so many wildlife/bird photographers like the 7D. If you use a lens made for an aps-c sensor on a full frame sensor, your photos will have bad vignetting. Sometimes using a full fram lens on an aps-c (crop sensor) camera can cause defraction at junctions of bright and dark edges. This usually shows on things like branches that are back lit against a bright sky, when using smaller aperture settings. So if you don't plan on moving to a full frame camera anytime in the future get aps-c (efs) lenses for your crop sensor camera. You'll save money too. No real use in putting an L series lens on a Rebel. Since the camera isn't sealed anyways.
I disagree with you on point of not putting good lenses on Rebel. My first camera was Pentax K-x. Most of the time I used it with kit 18-55 and old film-era 28-80 lens and though I had some good shots, as soon as my friend gifted me a 16-50 f2.8, i was blown away. Even on a cheap consumer camera, if you're going to use camera not just for hobby, it will be a good idea to invest into some good glass before upgrading the body. Main differences I spotted switching to 16-50 were: Better bokeh, better low-light, FASTER focus(which improved even further after getting a K-5 body), and to be honest, it felt overall nicer and not plasticky and cheap.
Your techniques to teach about camera lenses is very helpful.. I need a favor from you. I am beginner in Dslr. I buy a canon 200D ii. I want to use it for photography as well as Videography for blogging. Please suggest which lense should I buy? 10-18mm is stm or 18-135 mm is stm? As I know they both are wide angle lens. Please suggest me..
Very helpful. Thank you for putting this together. Finally looking at upgrading to a solid video camera, and desperately trying to figure out what can deliver the best low light video (Sony AIII? Or was it A7S? Or was that a Lumix?). See, I am a beginner - but this video was a good starting point. Thanks again. Cheers!

I'm new in photography and i'm using a canon 550D with its original lens, im wanting a 55-250mm lens for car photography, now what would you recommend i do? Buy a new lens for a 12 year old camera OR purchase the latest camera for beginner/intermediate with said wanted lens? I have been told that the 550S is still not obsolete in 2022. Please shed some light, btw you got my sub !

Hi Josh I just wanted to ask what lens would be good as I’m new to the whole photography thing and I was going to get the entry level cannon 200D mark 2 and i was wanting to use it for more landscape and portrait photos
Can you make a series, by going more in depth With the effects of changing each etc etc As in Episode 1) focal length Ep 2) aperture Ep 3) Diameter Ep 4) mounts Ep 5) Filters Etc Ofc each episode can be of different length.
LOL at about 8:15 I was waiting for a cough cough Sigma 17-50 2.8 when you were mentioning autofocus noise during video. I also thought of the Yongnuo (or however you spell it) 50mm 1.8 shortly before you showed it. Haven't finished the video yet but great content so far even good reminder for intermediate photographers.
I have a canon eos rebel t5! I’m looking for a recommendation on a few lens for this older model, I know the best recommendation is to get a new camera altogether 😭but for now this is the most affordable option!
Great tutorial, learned a lot. Question: what lens would you suggest for creating tutorials for like crocheting, cooking, sewing, and designing, must pick up intricate detail and shooting close-ups. I have a t7i and lens: 50mm and an 18-55mm lens but the finished projects always go out of focus or become blurry. I shoot from overhead a lot also. TFS!
I need a lens for wildlife photography shoots and normal portrait shoots as well, which lens should i buy? But I also want it to be budget-friendly. should I buy 2 lenses or is there 1 lens? Is buying second-hand good value?
Very helpful lens class.U clearly know ur stuff and I really appreciate u sharing ur knowledge. Here's my situation,I have a Samsung NX30.I would like a lens for shooting RUclips video and one for shooting cinema.Do u have any suggestions?Budget is solid for both,I'm not trying to get them at the same time.
Any thoughts on Canon M50 Mark II camera with EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM and EF-M 55-200mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Lenses? Been wanting to get it for videography and casual photography.

Cheers!
Sony A7III, Sony A7 IV, and the Sony A7S3 all have great lowlight!
Very thorough and easy to follow video.
Glad it was helpful!
Awsome video, I just bought a old canon eos d600 so I’m looking for a budget lens for pictures of ppl and when going camping
Such an informative guide, thank you so much i learnt alot, i have a question i hope you would answer.
First time visiting 1 minute in and i can already tell i like you.
I got my First Cannon Mirrorless R10 and this video was very helpful, I have RF55-210 and RF 18-45 as a package, what other beget friendly lenses would you recommend please? My goal is for both indoor and outdoor photos including low light indoor and great day light shooting outdoors and wild life, awaiting your response at your earliest convivence. Also, can you also give tour honest opinion on RF55-210 , RF 18-45 & Cannon EOS R 10 Please, did I made a good choice for my upgrade from using Nikon Coolpix P510 for almost 7 years and getting great shots on it.
I was rubbing my eyes when you clapped and you definitely woke me up. Haha 😂 how did you know? Made me laugh so hard
Hi Josh I just wanted to ask what lens would be good as I’m new to the whole photography thing and I was going to get the entry level cannon 200D mark 2 and i was wanting to use it for more landscape and portrait photos
Can you make a series, by going more in depth With the effects of changing each etc etc
As in
Episode 1) focal length
Ep 2) aperture
Ep 3) Diameter
Ep 4) mounts
Ep 5) Filters
Etc
Ofc each episode can be of different length.
Sold me with the break!
Oh yeah those are some LOUD lenses haha!
I have a canon eos rebel t5! I’m looking for a recommendation on a few lens for this older model, I know the best recommendation is to get a new camera altogether 😭but for now this is the most affordable option!
Easiest and most helpful lens beginner video I could find bro, well done
I appreciate that, glad it was helpful!

What lenses do you recommend me . I am a lash artist . I have a canon rebel T6

Thanks for making this fantastic video! It really makes sense for people who are just getting into photography 👍
My pleasure, I'm glad it was helpful!
Great video. Exactly the foundation I was looking for. Thanks man
Great tutorial, learned a lot. TFS!
Which one would you recommend for sports "soccer" and to just take good family photos
I need a lens for wildlife photography shoots and normal portrait shoots as well, which lens should i buy? But I also want it to be budget-friendly. should I buy 2 lenses or is there 1 lens? Is buying second-hand good value?
