Hi Guys! I hope you Tamiya TT02 fans find this video for TOP SPEED upgrades helpful. Let me know in the comments what upgrades you've done to your Tamiya TT02, and as always if you have any questions or comments feel free to post them down below. I answer all comments. Cheers guys! 😀🍺🍺
Hi, are you running the standard diffs and gearboxes? My tt02 has the same 5900kv motor, and I only run it on 2s, firstly, is it ok running on 4s? I don’t mean about the heat, I mean to make sure the motor doesn’t explode... and, any setup to do for stability? Thanks👍
@@R53.charlie Sorry brother I just saw this comment. The 5900kv motor can take 4s but only like 2 passes then let it cool just to be safe. On 3s you can get away with a few more but it's always best to check the motor temperature after every couple of runs. Best to just be safe and let it cool for 10-15 minutes after every couple of passes. If it feels just warm you can get away with another pass. As for diffs my car is a TT02RR so it has fluid filled diffs but really standard greased diffs are fine. Just put some thicker oil in there like 500,000 weight or 1 million. It should be kinda like gum. Because they are greased diffs and not sealed fluid ones like mine you have to put a very thick fluid in so it doesn't leak out. Don't put lockers in because it will only make it drift and lose traction. You should still be able to turn the diff a little. For stability all my car has is 2.5 degree rear castor blocks so there is 2.5 degrees of toe in at the rear wheels. On the front you want some toe OUT. You can play with this setting to find what makes your car "lock in" and go straight as it goes past 50mph. You dont want an extreme amount of toe out because then the front wheels will plow and you will lose speed but a little visible toe out will make it go straight at speed. Any other things you need help with let me know mate. 👊😀
@@KaizerTest thanks for the help mate, I’ve screenshotted that so that I don’t ever lose it😂 with tyres, can 30mm contact foams fit on it? Mine has still got 24mm wide tyres, and they’re not that grippy, mine is an 02r, so it has standard diffs, but bearings, metal driveshafts etc... I also have the 3 degree toe in aluminium uprights on the back because they come with the kit, I’m gonna have to stiffen up both my diffs🤔 also, I still run nimhs not even lipos, but I have a 70mph rustler running 2x 7.2v nimhs that is crazy, but I can’t really fit 2 batteries in a tt02, nowhere to Cable tie it in! So I might have to think about another option😅, also, I can’t run 3s because I use nimhs like I said, so it’s either 7.2v or 14.4v😂😂 so it’s either not that quick or crazy🤣 I have a McLaren p1 gtr shell, but I still need to fit the wing which should give it more downforce, and maybe some contact foams, then it will be good🤔 my car has toe out on the front anyway as it comes with the steering turnbuckles, but I don’t think there’s much else to do🤔🤔 edit: also, have you got Instagram? I think I’ve just seen your account? With 11 followers? Or is that an impostor?😂
@@R53.charlie I ran 26mm contact foams and 30mm will fit but it depends on how wide your body is. My body is a Deltaplastik Porsche 962 and it has enough width. As for batteries I would switch to Lipo's so you can run 3s. There are thin light 3s batteries and they are pretty cheap on Amazon. Only like $30. Nimh are too heavy especially running 2. Also you need to have fairly stiff suspension. so put some spacers in or get the Tamiya hard spring set alnk.to/4MttsWR And that is my Instagram...lol. No impostor...hahaha. I don't spend a lot of time on Instagram but I may start uploading there more. I'm also on facebook.
That was a great video with a lot of useful tips and recommendations, the metal gears for the tt02b is definitely something I’m going to get . Most guys just show the speed runs but showing how you got there is invaluable information to everyone watching. Thanks
Thanks Eric. The metal gears are GPM off ebay. And the steel spur gear is from a guy that makes them also off ebay. Yeah that bugged me too that guys were so secretive about their cars setup. I guess its bragging rights they are protecting....lol. I like to share my knowledge because these parts aren't cheap. I wasted a lot of money figuring out what works. Id rather help people save a few bucks as well.
One of the best TT02 speed run tutorial in RUclips. Clear instructions and great tips! I pick up lots of learning in this video. Great job! Can't wait for your next video.
I really appreciate you taking the time to put all the links in the description. I'm thinking about setting my tt02 up for some local drag racing so I am definitely going to have to pick up the steel GPM gear set for all the hard launches.
Yes for sure you will need the steel diff gears. Probably just for the back end. I left the front diff stock on my TT02B Dual Ridge and I put Traxxas Rally tires on it(bigger). The rear diff broke but the front was ok under hard use on 3s. Once I put the steel diff gears and steel spur in then the gears were bulletproof. The steel spur gear you can find on Ebay.
I purchased an all aluminum tt02 chassis. Everything is upgraded to aluminum except the spur covers. I am going to add the 2.5 up-rights to the rear after your tip. I also purchased the Tamiya high speed 68T spur and I bought two sets of pinions ranging from 19T to 26t. I plan on trying them out and seeing what each will do. Your video gave me some relief as I am an amateur and I researched and searched countless different videos and forums. I also purchased a hobbyfans S3650 3500KV. I wasn’t sure if it would fit the tt02. I also have the adjustable motor mount. But again. Your KV is double mine and I guess, mine will be more accelerated? Not so much top speed? I also got the Esc 80AMP from hobbyfans and program card. Then last I got the injora 12KG low pro servo. I am still waiting for the chassis to start building and testing it. I’m new to the sport and I’m in love with it already. I subscribed and I hope I can communicate with you further as I progress for tips and advice? It would be much appreciated. Thanks again! P.S Also purchased remote and receiver a P32s. Pretty nice. I also have Zee 2s lIPO batteries and charger. I have also purchased all the tools and a set with 700 some pieces. With a stand to work on it. 😊
I'm suprised youve not done the suspension mod to take out the slop from suspension parts. It helps loads and opens up a wide choice of wishbones to choose from. Most folk use the trf420 arms but I'm using the tb03 arms, I'll try the 420 wishbones at some point. Real good vid though bro and keep em coming
I have just recently built my Tamiya TT-02 car an it was a blast to build!!! I am going to leave it mainly stock for it is the anniversary edition GT4 Mustang kit..... I may endup gettin another and beefin the hell outta her & runnin her like a pavement melting machine...... So the video has some damn good tips on gettin plenty of basics & foundation tips....
Thank you brother. 🙏 Yeah that Mustang kit is cool. I wish I could get my hands on one. Tamiya stock is pretty low these days everywhere. I wish Tamiya kept making the TT02-RR kit that this car is. It has all the upgrades. Not all are necessary though. To go fast you definitely want 2.5 degree rear caster blocks/uprights and some toe out and foam tires.
Lots of great info here. Getting ready to do the poor boys RC 2023 tt02 speed run challenge. Can’t wait to see how fast I can get it. High gears, 3s and a low kv motor
THX... good video.. helpful infos 4 sure... // i did 110 km/h on rubber tires ( racing-inlay...non balooning ), metal diffs*, front diff locked... on 3 S lipo, 28 to 68 tooth ratio i think... closed lubed system.... u wil need some tuning parts 4 sure... yeah racing alu parts.. motor mount, steering, ratio-wheel-set 68 t i think... my ugly work is also online- only 3 vids - only tamya tt02 - tamiya 100km/h+ // 2nd car only drifting with printed tyres ;) thats me... thx again Kaizer// greetings at all RC ppl
Hi pal nice work im using the same wheels and tyres but there rubbing on my lower arms do you have any ideas how i can stop this please i thought about thicker hexes but the threads not long enough
Tires. Don't remember where I found it but running a layer of duct tape around the interior of the tire prevents ballooning. I intend to do this with my tt02 doing a length long enough for double layer and provide overlap so there's not a break in the layer without an imbalance do to a too short overlap. I didn't want a long reply here trying to explain better but I think I got this across
@@philthyco1 Yeah thanks bro. That area breaks so easy in a crash and then the chassis is garbage. But if you do the epoxy it's still usable. I wish they still had the blue TT02 chassis' still because those were tougher in a crash.
Great video and very helpful! Thinking about picking up a TT02R kit to replace my Team Associated TC4 as it's getting hard to find parts for that one now. Wanting to make something for speed and this may just be the route I take. Contemplated getting a Traxxas 4tec 2.0 but this looks fun to build and I already have spare electronics laying around
No problem. The stock TT02 gears are a bit weak but for speedrunning work ok. Also the where the steering attaches to the chassis is a bit weak. One slam into a curb and the chassis gets wrecked. But I have fixed with epoxy. The blue chassis handles crashes very well.
Thanks brother. I love all the cars in the video. The orange 97Mph Tamiya TT02 is my car. I also have a 132Mph Slash 4x4. I appreciate you watching. 😀🍺🍺
Good morning like your videos I am in the uk trying to find the metal gears have you got any numbers I can look up your a website I can buy from please p.s keep the good videos up 👍
Very nice build 👍👍👍👍👍 What’s the fastest motor from Castle can you install on the TC4 for high speed runs ? Also what would the fastest gears ratios agin for straight fast speed runs ?
Oh, man, thanks for putting this together, lots of good knowledge to be had from you! I'm in the process of upgrading my DualRidge to become a speed racer basher thing, I'm having some good fun with it, now on winter break, but will be back at it next spring, need to research gearing and a few other things, so this was great! I also saw you got a Top Force video, very nice, looking forward to seeing that. Definitely subscribed!
Cool and helpful video i was looking at getting a TT-02 at some point in time and making it a speed run car and you should do a vid on your stock Slash 4X4 i would love to see it and i'm looking at upgrading my new one soon. I hope you have a good day.
Thanks CJ. The TT02 is an awesome car. You can do 80mph pretty easily with a motor and esc. My Slash is actually apart right now...I have been picking parts off it for my speed run car. Mostly after my last crash I borrowed some parts. I'm going to get it back together though. I may do some videos on how to make a 100mph Slash 4x4 using the high center of gravity chassis that most people have and trying to keep it economical. Basically like my very first speed run Slash which is the orange corvette body in my vids and the blue truck body(same Slash underneath). I was able to get it to 93mph with a 3670 sized motor and the stock motor mount location. The reason I didn't hit 100 was I was using a 45c battery. The motor was kinda weak too. With a bigger motor and stronger batter 100mph would be easy. Now I'm at 132mph on my current Slash and looking towards 150. 🤞😃
@@KaizerTest I hope you get your old Slash going again someday and i wish you luck on getting to 150 on your current one. i just went out bashing today with mine i kept popping the right rear shock cap off so i swapped the rear shocks off my 2WD one temporarily until i upgrade to the GTR shocks on the 4x4. and i even bent the rear body mount a little bit but i'm going to swap to the Pro Line extended mounts. I will make some videos of my own repairing my RC's when i fix them.
@@cjchannel12RC Thanks brother. Yeah the shocks and driveshafts are weak spots on the Slash and most Traxxas cars. I was jumping my sons Ruster and doing high back flips and the shock caps always came off and I bent shock rods. I bought some cheapish aluminum bigger bore shocks off Amazon and so far so good. The Rustler driveshafts are thicker and will hold up better. The good thing about the Slash is the tires aren't that big to put stress on the axles.
Thanks bro. I appreciate that. This one is my real sweetheart ruclips.net/video/NFSJhduq7eQ/видео.html You have some very sick rides too. Subbed you. 😀🍺🍺
Thanks Angel. I appreciate that brother. 😄 Yeah I'm trying to mix up the videos a little. Some bash, some speed runs, some how to stuff. Come summer though there will be more speed runs. Hopefully I hit 150mph this year. 🤞😃🤞
No problem. This kit was the TT02RR so it came with fluid filled diffs. I wouldn't lock the diffs because it can cause you to spin out easier. And just very easy roll on the throttle to avoid losing traction.
Seems the big issue with making a TT02 speedrunning now is sourcing the Robinson Racing spur gears. I was thinking to try and find an alternative touring car spur in 49 or 52 tooth but I have not ran my TT02 in quite awhile. Other projects are eating my time up.
Also a weak point on the TT02 chassis is where the steering screws into the chassis. A little crash into a curb and it breaks the chassis there. One fix is buy 5 minute epoxy and then drill it out and use a screw and nut to hold the steering belcrank to the chassis.
@@KaizerTest Thanks very much for the advice mate, been watching alot of your videos today so hope to learn a few tips from you and Stew. Thanks again, Ive just subbed! Nick
@@nickpeat Thanks for the sub...got you back. 🍺🍺 Yeah see if you can source the spur gears from somewhere first. That may be a stumbling block to your build. I know they were hard to find recently but maybe they started to make more. Or another company touring car spur could work. Good luck on the build it's a fun little car. I never made my goal of 100mph with that car. Only made 97mph but I may revisit it for another try this year. Stew is crazy fast with his Tamiyas. 👍
Dear @KaizerTest RC, Great videos ! What is your recommendation for an inexpensive (less than $150 total) for a sensored motor, ESC, and program card ? Thank you ! Cheers
@@markwalhimer8972 No problem. 😃🍺🍺Those motors and esc I have in the description by Surpass are really good for the money. A 3650 size is good an an 80amp esc you will not ever blow it up. Is it a drift car or speed run car?
@@KaizerTest Thank you, I am thinking to build two speed run cars and hopefully use the same motor and ESC in both. One a TT-2 and the second a WL TOYS 144001.
@@markwalhimer8972 If you are doing a speed run car then get a 120amp esc and a 5900kv surpass motor. I run 52 spur and 47 pinion. You need to trim the motor cover a bit for the pinion. Use a dremel.
I plan on getting this chassis soon, this video is very good motivation to get it sooner :} I cant wait and ill eventually upgrade to brushless so thank you :)
No problem! It a fun car to build and run even in stock form. Definitely one of my favorites.😀 Post up a vid of your build and progress when you get the car.👍
My man back again. So hit 70 today. Lots of work to go. Had a crash. Parts on the way. Questions is do you use any avc or assist? Tough handling it lol
70mph is pretty good brother. 😃🍺🍺 They are hard to get to go straight for sure. You need foam tires which I think you already do if you hit 70. You also need adjustable steering links so you can add some toe OUT to the front tires. Not a lot but definitely toe out. For the rear you need toe IN so you need some 2.5 degree rear hubs/uprights so the rear tires have toe in. Make sure the suspension is stiff as well. And I don't use much AVC at all. Too much and the rear end will wobble at higher speeds. The biggest things are foam tires, rear toe in and front toe out. Hey...leave a comment on my latest vid and enter in my giveaway. Just say I want in on that vid. It's the WLtoys vid.
@@KaizerTest got it all covered. youre a great teacher. nice to see this thing covered in road dust and not shelf dust. waiting on that delta plastics body. only 3s and same gearing as you are running. it had way more but caught air and rolled and slammed the back end into a curb. rookie mistake but it was a blast and a good reason to pick up another kit for spares. but yeah tires hubs..uprights..shimms..its a solid build toe in and out is all covered. just wasnt sure if a little avc would take the edge off. just practice driving that fast i think. BTW the auprass motors have been replaced but the link works for another that im using. just as fast as you can see. ill check the video out now man! thanks again
@@Dorkyand40 I appreciate the good words brother! 😃 Glad to hear you have your car set up nice but sorry about the crash. It's a risky hobby for sure...lol. Are you running the Robinson Racing spur and pinion? They seem to be sold out everywhere now. I hope they make more. One thing I forgot to mention is my Spektrum DX5C radio and the RadioLink RC6GS radio have exponential for steering. So in the middle part of the steering the steering response is very minimal. This helps so you don't over correct steering inputs on your speed run. A lot of guys dont even use this but I find it helps me. Also Perfect Pass might help you with throttle control.
@@KaizerTest good tips on the expo. yeah i found them at a motor sports online store from tennessee . might need to pick a few more up. have 2 of the 52 and 2 49
I use the gyro that's in my receivers but to be honest all you need is a little toe OUT on the front and use either exponential on the radio to lessen the response in the middle travel of the servo or lower your rates right down before you do a speed pass. A gyro just introduces a speed wobble at high speed. The toe OUT on the front is more important. And maybe 2-3 degree's of toe in on the rear.
before gyro.... check all wheel bearings( there is quality differences) eliminate all rattle and play in the whole suspension and steering system... (track setting - angle degree 2,5 or so, u know, X-form) // if right, u can go fast without correcting with your remote so much...
Great video and great build! Inspiring.... only thing is, I still have to convince myself Tamiya is an "okay" brand. If I had to change one thing on your build: shorten the wires. That's what I do in my r/c speedboats.
Yeah Tamiya is an okay brand. I have been using Tamiya's since 1980. But that being said it so much easier to go fast by just buying an ARRMA Limitless. My Slash 4x4 is currently my fastest speed run GT that did 138mph so far. But the little Tamiya was a fun build for sure. I wish I had squeeked out a 100mph. Maybe next season.
Hi...yeah they seem to be rare these days. I'm not sure why? Hopefully it's just covid and they will be back in stock soon. I'm looking around for alternate options for spur gears. I will keep you posted if I find any.
Nice Video ! I did almost the same with my tt01 . but i wonder that you dont have Probleme with the Center driveshaft . at tt01 the shaft fly at around 80mph away . I am shure you help a Lot of People with this Video ✌
It's a stock plastic diff. There's not a lot of force on the gears when doing speed runs. Drag racing is different but in a speed run you accellerate slowly.
Hey brother! Good to hear from you! Uhhhh yeah Im sort of getting ready. I still have 2-3 months of crappy weather but I will get on preparing more next month. So how are you doing? Last I saw you were on the plane...are you still in North America? Or did you go overseas?
@@KaizerTest yeah bro. I’m overseas in Korea. 23 months left here. Everything is going great except the tongs of snow ❄️ here. We’re planing on coming to your end when we get back to the states, so hopefully we’ll get to link up.
@@liteweightgains Wow! Your far away. Well its an experience I bet...so you said your coming to Canada for a stopover when you come back before heading back to the States? Is that what you meant?
Yeah for sure. I haven't fried one yet and I've run it in the summer. I usually only do a few passes and let it cool before I go again. And I ran it on 4s too. Just make sure to let it cool. 👍
I tried a little toe in on the front with mine and it wasnt driveable over 50mph. I put a little toe out back in and im putting an avc receiver in it for the gyro. Ive got 94mph out of it but with the 150a esc and batteries im gonna try I should hit 100 no problem if I can keep it in a straight line. I tried telling the car its not a frisbee but she wont listen. Lol. Cracked the upgraded hard chassis and lost a dogbone last outing.
Thank you for this video! It helped me out a lot since I’m new to speed runs. Now maybe I can make my Wltoys 144001 and my Redcat Racing Lightning EPX go faster. Keep up with the great video’s 👍🏁
Hey Jesse! Thanks for the good words brother. 🙏 Yeah most of these tips apply to other cars as well...glad you liked it. I have a WLToys 144001 on the way myself. 😃
@@JesseBMotors Hahaha...Yeah I hear you. I'm waiting to go speed running again too. I'm spending too much money on monster trucks...lol. But I do like them. The speed cars really get my adrenaline going though.😃
An extremely well made and informative video-thank you. I only have 1 TT02 , the R version, which i plan to upgrade further, much along the lines you have. Getting some of the parts outside of Northern America will be a challenge but I thank you for providing part numbers. I think the greatest difficulty with any speed runs is the location and condition of the road surface, far more than any mods to the car, even without the traffic at the moment.
Yeah I totally agree on all your points. Parts are a little tough to come by these days. Covid put a damper on parts supplies. And I only have a few good roads. I have to get up before dawn and get to my road at sunrise on a Sunday to avoid traffic..lol.
Mine was unstable too. The rubber tires balloon causing instability. You need contact foam tires. You need to add some toe OUT to the front and for the rear tires get some 2.5 degree uprights that will add rear toe IN.
Sure. You just need to get the right mods in there. Any TT-02 can do it. The tires are one of the first things that need to be swapped to foams. All the mods in this video tie in to achieving higher speeds.
thanks for sharing mate...you put a lot of effort into your builds and parts list...much appreciated...does that motor run hot..and could it be used for slash drag racing.. cheers mate
This motor does get hot but like after 3 passes at 97mph. For Slash drag racing I would use a bigger motor like a 3660 or 3670 with a lower kv. Surpass has a 2650kv 3670 motor which is pretty cheap and should have enough power for drag racing. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08BPBTFLG/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B08BPBTFLG&linkCode=as2&tag=kaizertestrc-20&linkId=db18c4501609543b93a142ab88cad66b
@@KaizerTest thanks for the fast reply..i will check this out definitely..just doing a quick build at the moment..im doing a 6s stamede build also...ive fitted x01 diffs...i like your idea of the x01 motor mount turned upside..very good idea.. thanks again...i look forward to more speed runs
@@nathanbrown4725 No problem. The X-01 mount is a little tricky to do but if your good with a dremel tool and a little fabricating it's not bad. You need some taps to cut threads in the aluminum. The Saga mount works good too but it's hard to change pinions. You need to cut an allen/hex wrench down so it will fit in to tighten the motor down. A 6s Stampede will be crazy...hahaha. I did a 6s Slash 4x4 with mod1 gears but it overpowers it. ruclips.net/video/qjAQrgv6wgA/видео.html And it breaks the plastic axles...even beefier rustler axles. You need steel axles on the rear. The gears held up and I ran a slipper eliminator. If you need any ideas at all feel free to hit me up. I'm usually around to reply.
@@KaizerTest thanks for the reply..i think i will try the xo1 axles..i have built an e revo slipper clutch.. do you know if a regular 4x4 slash diff will hold up with 50.000 plus diff fluid on a speed run. i wonder how tuff the stock diffs are
@@nathanbrown4725 Were talking 4x4 right? The Slash 4x4 diffs are tough. I have run them offroad with no breakage on 6s direct with no slipper clutch(check my vids). So you will be fine. The X-01 axles are tough but for over 120mph the rubber boot that holds the pins for the CV joint lets the pins out from centrifugal force. But you will be fine to 120mph at least. I run Rustler axles so far up to 132mph and stock slash 4x4 axles on the front. Offroad with bigger tires and more power and you need to run the X-01 axles or MIP.
love the info was a great watch cant believe you ain't got thousands of subs but i will try and share this video as much as i can to help you and others out there who wanna go fast , now my question is about the TT01E ?? is that same type of settings to the 02 or not ?reason i ask is i just bought the 1997CLK Mercedes and would mind going even 60MPH with the tt01e. cheers and thanks again bud:-)))))
Thanks for the good words brother😀🍺🍺 Yeah these setup tips work pretty well on most RC cars to go fast. Im not sure if these spur gear will fit the TT01. Other than that I would set it up the same way. Get a 5900kv motor they are great. 60mph should be pretty easy. Get some foam tires for the speed runs then put rubber on for bashing.
This is the seller on ebay I bought them from. It looks like he doesn't have any more and I think he is the person who makes them. You can message him on ebay and maybe he can make you a few as he still has other items for sale on his store. www.ebay.ca/usr/cannonsdinh
Man love it. Had a tt02 sitting here and gonna do it up while my no prep batts charge to play with. Too bad spurs are all sold out. Gonna have to run lower gearing :(
Hahaha...nice! Yeah I don't know what's up with Robinson racing spurs lately. I hope they keep making the 52T 49pitch spurs and everything is just backordered. I'm currently looking for alternatives and found 2 but need to order them ad try them out first.

@@Dorkyand40 Thanks brother! I got you back on the sub I appreciate that. 😃🍺🍺Good you got your hands on some of those spurs. I mean even with a 60 somthing tooth spur and a 5900kv motor you can still go pretty fast so if you see a 60 you can grab that too. But I don't think you can do 100 with that spur.
Awesome video! I’m just getting into the hobby of the RC world and I’m building a Tamiya TT-02 with the Acura NSX body. I have the hop up motor mount, 5900kv motor (I put a heat sink with fan) kit with 120A ESC, high speed hop up, and some other goodies! I bought a 48p 49t Robinson Racing spur gear and I’m thinking about buying a 48p 49t pinion gear. Is it safe to run with this setup. I want to make the car as fast as possible (high speed). This would be a 1:1 ratio. I shouldn’t go any lower than that? Correct? Your help will be highly appreciated! Thank you!
I forget how low I went on pinion because this was a few years ago but I wouldnt go lower than 1:1 You can check my videos I usually say exacly what I'm running. Where did you manage to find the 49T spur?
Hey @KaizerTest RC ! Do you think I should be fine running the stock differentials with Tamiya grease from the kit? I also have a 1M oil differential fluid just in case but I already put grease in the differential. The car haven’t hit the road but I’ve been testing it by placing the car on a box and having the wheels out in the air giving it speed and it’s working fine. Just wanted to make sure so I can save myself some time and money. It’s my first build and I’m getting obsessed with the RC hobby world! Your help will be highly appreciated once again! Thank you! Have a wonderful day!
Stay with the self tapping screws. They work just fine. Be careful not to overtighten them. Just screw them in until you see or feel the head is at the bottom. Then just a very light snug. If you do strip one you can cut off the end of a small zip tie and feed it in the hole. Then put the screw back in. This gives just enough tightness for the screw to grip the inside the hole again.
I’m looking to build a fast tt02 but not crazy fast, I’ve got a metal centre shaft ,brushless motor and a 2s lipo, are there any other parts I need, if so , what parts would you suggest?
@@KaizerTest hey quick question and you might not have the answer to it and I totally understand if you don’t. But on my channel there are 3 videos I made of my tble-02s esc failing to power my tt-02 chassis. I think I accidentally deleted your other comment on batteries and if any of my cheap esc's went up in smoke. None burned up. I even ran with no fan and overheated it 10 times and it's still fine. I was trying to get a video done and the esc wouldnt fit my Top Force without removing the fan...lol. It still works good. And as for batteries I use a lot of cheap ones with no issues. All this stuff is made in China anyways. I use both Hobbywing, castle and the cheap ones. The cheap ones are not bad at all.
Thanks👍
Hi mate, could you reply to my other comment? Thanks
Also you need to have fairly stiff suspension. so put some spacers in or get the Tamiya hard spring set alnk.to/4MttsWR
And that is my Instagram...lol. No impostor...hahaha. I don't spend a lot of time on Instagram but I may start uploading there more. I'm also on facebook.
You telling them all the hard research tricks man, and me some too.
That's what I'm here for brother. 😀 I like to pass on any info I can to other people trying to go fast.
Thanks Marvin 😃 I really appreciate that brother. I Love the TT02...it's a great platform to build on.
Thanke for the facts. I'm building a tto2 I have had for years and I want to make to 80mph love the videos 😊
Whoa, way to take them to 11! Gives me inspiration for my two😊😊
I'm suprised youve not done the suspension mod to take out the slop from suspension parts. It helps loads and opens up a wide choice of wishbones to choose from. Most folk use the trf420 arms but I'm using the tb03 arms, I'll try the 420 wishbones at some point. Real good vid though bro and keep em coming

Thanks my brother! Its a fun, economical little car for sure. 👍
where did you get that body? Its awesome! hope
i can get it here in Good ol'Canada.
I ordered directly from DeltaPlastiks USA. What part of Canada are you in?
Great video, would you be able to do the same thing to a tt01e ?
Possibly but I'm not familiar with that platform. It's all about if you can mount the motor and the gearing.
WELL DONE!!!!!
Thanks brother! Much appreciated.🙂
@@KaizerTest Good info with the epoxy
@@philthyco1 Yeah thanks bro. That area breaks so easy in a crash and then the chassis is garbage. But if you do the epoxy it's still usable. I wish they still had the blue TT02 chassis' still because those were tougher in a crash.

Thanks brother. I love the TT02.
Just thanks for all the info.
i assume you use dual rates for the steering? to make it less sensitive at high speed, i use 40% steering limit more or less.
Great job and vídeo

Good morning like your videos I am in the uk trying to find the metal gears have you got any numbers I can look up your a website I can buy from please p.s keep the good videos up 👍
My diffs have stock TT02 RR gears. The only thing metal is the pinion gear. The spur is also plastic.
Can not find them for sale the pinion or spur gear mate
Very nice build 👍👍👍👍👍
What’s the fastest motor from Castle can you install on the TC4 for high speed runs ?
Also what would the fastest gears ratios agin for straight fast speed runs ?
No idea on the TC4. It should be similar to the TT02 though. 1:1 pinion spur would be the best.

No worries brother. The TT02 is an awesome platform for sure.
Very nice build

What remote control do you recommend for a quick action for my tamiya that I did for racing I need a recommendation
I'm using the radiolink RC6GS. It's priced well and it has a ton of features. Long range as well.
Awesome
Is there any alternative 49t spur gear for the TT-02? The Robinson Racing one is soled out everywhere
TO be honest I don't know for sure. I didn't look for an alternative that hard though.
Thanks for the video mate, Im about to embark on a TT02 speed runner myself. Can I ask did you lock both diffs
@@markwalhimer8972 No problem. 😃🍺🍺Those motors and esc I have in the description by Surpass are really good for the money. A 3650 size is good an an 80amp esc you will not ever blow it up. Is it a drift car or speed run car?

@@KaizerTest you are welcome my friend 👍😍

What's the part number for the front adjustable tie-rods you're using?
They came with the TT02 RR kit. They are part MB12 (19400796) and MB13 (50875) in the Tamiya TT02 RR manual.
Hi I was wondering if you would recommend a gyro? I would assume it would provide the car with more stability once you hit certain speed. Thank you
I use the gyro that's in my receivers but to be honest all you need is a little toe OUT on the front and use either exponential on the radio to lessen the response in the middle travel of the servo or lower your rates right down before you do a speed pass.
Hallo, when i saw your videos, your diff gear still orginal (plastic). It's safe for speed run?
Yes I used the plastic gears for speed runs.
What exact steel spur did you use on the dual ridge? You didn't mention it I believe.
The spur gear was bought from a seller on Ebay. Take a look there he was custom making them I believe.
Do you know of a place that stock Robinson racing spur gears ? I’m finding pinions no problems but getting a spur is almost impossible.

Are you running the stock plastic diff or if you upgraded what did you use
It's a stock plastic diff. There's not a lot of force on the gears when doing speed runs. Drag racing is different but in a speed run you accellerate slowly.
I see you’re getting ready for the upcoming season brotha. My Slash is full built, waiting to see how it will perform.

Thanks brother! Its harder to drive this car straight than say a 1/8 scale but its a lot of fun still.
My tt02 is extremely unstable, but is it necessary to change the steering to aluminum?
Very fluffy
Mine was unstable too. The rubber tires balloon causing instability. You need contact foam tires. You need to add some toe OUT to the front and for the rear tires get some 2.5 degree uprights that will add rear toe IN.
@@KaizerTest Thank you for your reply ☺️ We will use it as a reference ❗️
I just got the suburb mento Carlo with tt0-02. Can those be nodded to go 90?
Sure. You just need to get the right mods in there. Any TT-02 can do it. The tires are one of the first things that need to be swapped to foams. All the mods in this video tie in to achieving higher speeds.
Where did you get the tt02 gears from?
Robinson Racing from Ebay.
thanks for sharing mate...you put a lot of effort into your builds and parts list...much appreciated...does that motor run hot..and could it be used for slash drag racing..
*Looks so Cool and Amazing 👌🏻 Thanks for Sharing ✔See you around 😊*
Thanks for the good words and for watching.🤝🏼😀
love the info was a great watch cant believe you ain't got thousands of subs but i will try and share this video as much as i can to help you and others out there who wanna go fast , now my question is about the TT01E ?? is that same type of settings to the 02 or not ?reason i ask is i just bought the 1997CLK Mercedes and would mind going even 60MPH with the tt01e.
cheers and thanks again bud:-)))))
Thanks for the good words brother😀🍺🍺 Yeah these setup tips work pretty well on most RC cars to go fast. Im not sure if these spur gear will fit the TT01. Other than that I would set it up the same way. Get a 5900kv motor they are great. 60mph should be pretty easy. Get some foam tires for the speed runs then put rubber on for bashing.
Soo the stock plastic diff and shaft bevel gears will get eaten up pretty quick with a brushless setup and general driving?
On road they will hold up to drifting and speed runs. Off road TT02B the rear get eaten.
Can you do this with high kv motors?
Yeah I ran a 5900kv motor. I have a 6900kv I ran as well but 5900kv was my sweet spot.
Did you have to adapt that Spectrum Smart battery to make it fit in TT02
No it's the exact size of the battery tray.
I see you are in Canada. Hi there... fellow Canuck.👍
@@KaizerTest cheers eh..thanks for the reply..I live in Ontario..
@@thercguy No problem brother. Yeah me too...Markham Ontario. 🍺🍺
Hey man do you have the link to where I can get the steel spur gear
Let me take a look for you...hang on...
This is the seller on ebay I bought them from. It looks like he doesn't have any more and I think he is the person who makes them. You can message him on ebay and maybe he can make you a few as he still has other items for sale on his store. www.ebay.ca/usr/cannonsdinh
@@KaizerTest thanks bro because I was thinking of upgrading to brushless
@@KaizerTest do you know if the Tt-01 spur will work on the tt02?
@@grandmasteryoda8588 That I am not sure. The seller in that link should be able to tell you. I never owned a TT-01.
Hey I was looking for body post need to change from magnet can anyone help with info thanks
@@KaizerTest think I found some at mudslide motor sports. At least it let me buy them. So yeah. Subbed and clicksd
On your links. Thanks for the work man! Stop over my way some time :)
Sounds good! This means I can run 48p 49t spur with a 48p 49t pinion gear. Same size, correct? I managed to find the 49t spur gears on EBay.
@@daidan_708 Yeah I would check my video to see what pinion I was running. I totally forget now.
No worries! Thank you!
Do you think a machine screw upgrade is needed or will the stock self tapping be just fine?
Stay with the self tapping screws. They work just fine. Be careful not to overtighten them. Just screw them in until you see or feel the head is at the bottom. Then just a very light snug. If you do strip one you can cut off the end of a small zip tie and feed it in the hole. Then put the screw back in. This gives just enough tightness for the screw to grip the inside the hole again.
Where'd you get the Porsche body
Deltaplastiks USA
Do you think oil filled shocks would help achieve even higher speeds? I imagine those stock ones are bouncing around.
The TT02 RR which is what this car is comes with oil filled shocks. I used heavy springs as well.
I’m looking to build a fast tt02 but not crazy fast, I’ve got a metal centre shaft ,brushless motor and a 2s lipo, are there any other parts I need, if so , what parts would you suggest?
Foam tires, rear 2.5 to 3 degree rear uprights would be good. I have a list of parts in the video description.
@@KaizerTest thx
What is the size of the pinion you using on the 50t spur
I was using a 52 tooth spur and 45 tooth pinion.
Can I use the TT02B Turnbuckle set on my tt02 ?
Good info👍😁
Thanks brother! This video is long but it should help some TT02 guys out or people looking for a 1/10 scale touring car. 😀

@@daiciuapostol79 Thanks brother! I appreciate that comment very much. 😀
Do you know what the pitch of the gears are because I'm thinking about trying to make one go over 100 mph
I used 48p Robinsons racing gears.
Ok thank you it's good to know I can use a gear that I already have
when you ordered the body did you order the 2mm scratch and dent or just the 2mm? I'm not sure what the difference between them is?
Hi I just ordered the normal one. I guess there is a little damage on the scratch and dent ones.
@@KaizerTest Wow that was quick! Thank you for taking the time to reply!
@@Green_Bullet No problem. Anytime.👊🍺🍺
@@KaizerTest hey quick question and you might not have the answer to it and I totally understand if you don’t. But on my channel there are 3 videos I made of my tble-02s esc failing to power my tt-02 chassis. One of them is unattached and you will see it runs and the other is attached you will hear a loud beep noise and no movement the third is a video of the led on the esc. Nobody on the forum could help me so I was wondering if you by chance knew what was wrong? I think it’s something simple but I have no idea what to do with it at this point. Thanks in advance
@@Green_Bullet Yeah no idea what the issue is. I've never used a Tamiya esc before. I was using an Arrma esc. Have you tried a different esc? Is it a brand new esc or one youve used before?
Is the Blue chassis stiffer?
Yes it's stiffer and doesn't crack as easily at the steering posts.
on the tto-2 how was the handling can it take corners good and what about the heat issues
Hey i was wondering ware you get all your hop up options at because i was looking for some for my tamiya midnight pumpkin
I get them form Ebay mostly. Some stuff I got from RC mart. What hop ups are you looking for?
Im looking for the aluminum spindles, arms, mainly most of the aluminum chassis parts
I have a question can I put all those pieces to a tamiya tt01E
Yes...pretty much everything will fit. Some things like suspension pieces are specific to the TT02.
@@KaizerTest thanks for your answer brother I can't find the gear but I'll keep looking

Yeah I just cut the two off and soldered one plug on.

I'm sorry if I asked this before, do you have a video like this but with a Slash 2wd? I'm sure in general I can still use most of the advice on here but with slash parts? Thanks again Kaizer!
I don't own any Slash 2wd cars only 4wd. Maybe I should get one. What are your plans for the car?
@@KaizerTest well we just finally got it painted but not sure what electronics or motor ima put into yet. Just really trying to go about 60 ish for now. The brushed 25 turn in it now is great we just want to go faster!
@@jknewb6276 60 should be pretty easy with the Slash. What motor is in there now? A 550? I think a 3660 sized can will fit. What esc are you running?
I think I accidentally deleted your other comment on batteries and if any of my cheap esc's went up in smoke. None burned up. I even ran with no fan and overheated it 10 times and it's still fine. I was trying to get a video done and the esc wouldnt fit my Top Force without removing the fan...lol. It still works good. And as for batteries I use a lot of cheap ones with no issues. All this stuff is made in China anyways. I use both Hobbywing, castle and the cheap ones. The cheap ones are not bad at all.
