you had me at hello games but maybe we could take some points in what everyone feels minecraft has always been missing for these massive worlds and that is structures like i wouldnt mind them as rare as in minecraft but i mean anyone remember the charm of old school runescape the vampires the elfs the barrows and the medevil fantasy vibe not the dorky thing they made now that ignored what they use to be even a joke quest back then felt like it was interesting in its plot devices even by todays standers slayer back in the day vs some of the more modern dialogue choices if gaming is a art then wouldnt you expect you would at least uniform that art vs constantly being this chaotic all over the place mess that most mmorpgs become that disgusts me because they lost their conform

Im pretty sure they've already said its one world for everyone not one for each person and they can invite friends to join their world. Which seems even cooler. It will be like an mmorpg in a world as big as the earth where cities made entirely by players will be possible and because its so much bigger than anything made before exploration of new unknown areas will always be possible.

Please God no PvP...and if they do, make it flagged or just give the PvPers their own servers. While I know most PvPers are skilled players and do PvP the right way, theres a ton more who are just griefers and enjoy destroying and camping cause they cant compete with real PvPers. Its always some bad apples that ruin the bunch and I would hate to see this game go down in flames because of it.

    • @The_Man_In_Red

@@Psionicon Probably no PvP. Enshrouded has no PvP because they just don't have the time & energy to deal with fixing exploits and griefer tactics, so it's strictly PvE. 【Shades Finnish Pirates】What i got from this trailer was the presence of skeleton, i sent a suggestion to the devs with a hope of having humanoid enemies to fight and i specified that skelton do not count. I asked for living, breathing and thinking humanoid enemies to fight on. I asked for the devs to consider more about the fantasy dream rather than a good PG rating, the kids of today go from game to game as the windblows and the older gamer audience sets out roots on a game like this and can stay for years but no matter how great the game is / looks if the're are only monsters / undead to kill i will not get this game as i have already learned from NMS that having no honorable opponents to kill in a game makes the game something that i myself am not so much into & i've talked with a player who's been playin the game from the start thus i can provide his direct quote "Give us something to kill" i too stand by this statement. I don't think it's going to be separate worlds unless you have one for yourself saved in offline or can have your own server like in Valheim. If they use the mechanics from No Man's Sky, it will be - 1. Multiplayer, you can see other people and their builds. 2. Single-player, you see the builds of other players, but not the players. 3. Offline, it's all only you and your stuff. No Man's Sky does not have private servers like Valheim allows, but you never know what the future brings.

Years ago, a boardgame came out that did something similar: you got a random adventure in the box. The result was that moat people were unhappy about the game, bc they heard about someone else’s cool adventure while most just got a mid story out of it. I wonder how they solved this, bc this may not a be procedural problem, but a social problem; but it will reflect on the success of the games.

They said that a team of around 20 people worked on it for 5 years and adding mechanics from No Man Sky in it, which means 1. The game is in its later stages of development, 2. The game has already tested mechanics which are taken form their other game. For me those 2 are good points and the only reason why I am willing to hype if only just a little. What worries me are the melee combat (they haven't done this before so its a bit of a new field for them) and the procedural generation of the planet which they said it will be close to real planet which I don't buy, but it will be interesting to be at least 4-5 times bigger than those in No Man Sky. The procedural generation of such a planet will be a bit different than the one they do on the planets in no man sky because there you have phases of jumping from a planet to cosmos then to another planet, here you don't have that and it could spell a problem. Still too early too judge so we will wait and see what will come out in the end.

Light No Fire is almost certainly going to be a shared world. With no one having single player worlds that they invite friends to. It's going to be a single massive planet, like an MMORPG, with a persistent world that everyone lives in together. And people will just spread out and explore and build things.
We'll probably start on the LNF planet in general relation to our real life geographical region. And if want to play with someone from another country, we'll have to find a way to get there. Like fast traveling teleports, or flying mounts for literal days to get there.

Yeah I dont think its gonna be a different planet for each player. It would literally be the opposite of what they did with NMS and the reality is that the simple answer tends to be the correct one. The simple answer here is that its procedurally generated based on coordinates just like NMS is. That means a mountain at a certain location will always be there for any player because its based on a math equation. This lets them make a massive planet with some consistency just like NMS. This is important for base building. If you build on a mountain and someone randomly comes to your base, it would be a problem if that mountain didn't exist for that player.

My only fear right now is if they take building in the direction of "The Forest." While I enjoyed the game and I had fun playing and defending my homes, I personally found that the material gathering was tedious. Having to carry a limited amount of materials (2 Logs) to a building that required around 50 of them, honestly made me drop the game faster than everything else it had. And don't even get me started on "The Forest 2" that made building even more tedious by removing the cart that you could use in the first game (Which was a godsend in the first one, but still didn't make up the grinding) and for making you break the pieces to place them and if you broke it off in the wrong place now you had to start over with it.
Also, to the character creation, I really hope that the different races aren't just cosmetic. I would love to see racial specific traits like Otters having more movespeed on the water, whille rabbits have more jump height potential for exploring.

so... here's my take and heavy spoiler warning for NMS if you haven't played through either of the two story paths, but... every player is probably going to start on the same procedural earth and through the story you'll discover some ritual/procedure to move between the different seeds for this rng earth like the center of the galaxy does in NMS and how there are 255 galaxies you can cycle through in NMS. My bet, just given HG's history in how they added new stuff to NMS in the past, the two games will probably be more similar than people will want to admit. Yeah there will be differences such as say using armor pieces to give environmental protection instead of suit mods, magic instead of a terrain manipulator, stuff like that, but ultimately I bet it'll feel like a skin swap to long time NMS fans. I do have a bit of hope though and do plan to pick it up at launch so I can explore the procedural world because as a low vision gamer, they've done right by me by adding very good accessibility features.

I believe there will be fast travel of some sort. Maybe even how Valheim does it. You would about have too as large as the world will seem to be. I think building even motorized machines for carrying, maybe even caravans for making money much like in some city builders. Seems like the sky is the limit for this game and anything could be possible as far as mounts go. Might even be able to build some sort of mech for battling bosses, etc, etc...
Also, please God no PvP! And if they do implement it, make it flagged or give the griefers their own server(s)...

The main problem with LNF is the fact that they did not learn a single thing from their bad decisions with NMS's flight mechanics and are using the exact same flight model for the creatures in LNF. The exact same terrible mechanics. Take-off and landing are both a button prompt with a fixed animation, and the controls are extremely arcade and slow. Unless they copy GW2 flight mechanics, I'm giving this a miss. I cannot stand bad flight mechanics. NMS is such a fun game, but the flight makes it so fucking frustrating. Looks like they failed with LNF, too.

My guy, while Ark is very controversial and janky, it is a very complex game. I really don't think this will be anything at all like Ark with the complexities of dino taming, breeding, mutations, extrem focus on survival mechanics like eating, temperature etc. Besides an open world setting I really don't see any similarities at all to Ark.

A minor point of contention, and a major one. It's a kingfisher, not a humming bird, but guessing their are many more mounts the are hiding, along with the player races. Also there are fantasy player races in the trailer, Satyr and Faun, so guessing their are others they are hidings, maybe still elves etc too. The major thing I disagree with is your procedural take. I do not think it will be like Valheim where every new game is a new world. He said one planet the size of earth. No Man's Sky is one pre-procedurally generated universe where everyone's Euclid galaxy is the same and shared. No matter how many players play, the same planet is always the same. This is why everyone can go get the same crashed exotic ships. LNF will be the same. One planet shared by every player, every new game on the same world in a random spot, starting in the temperate zones. There will be coordinates and fast travel points you can build to get to the more populated areas, but this is one world the size of Earth not each player getting their own version of the world. Instead of 4 quintillion planets, you'll have about 2 million square miles to explore. So even after ten years it'll be easy to find lonely space on the planet if you want to. Everything will be there before anyone plays the game.

If it’s a true world then people need to stop thinking about biomes and more about continents.
Scotland is the size of Michigan for example and itself features at least 4 biomes itself. Not to mention different creatures from other countries even within the continent.
People are thinking to small it’s not just a small area with different biomes or is a complete failure being true world.

A game way back when called Aion gave me the same vibes as this game a negative vibe. You see th efirst thing I noticed was the flying around and I stated that people were going to make a mock of the game and everyone will be flying around and yeah that happened to the point people were making sales stalls up in the sky on trees on top of buildings etc etc.
So when I see these flying mounts I feel like the ground world will be avoided because everyone is going to be flying around in the air avoiding the ground and there will likely be a lot of silliness that comes with it.
Furthermore NMS never had the team or vision to bring that game to it's fullest potential it became a stagnant boring game after a few years. So we have to ask ourselves did this guy make THAT much money from NMS sky that he coudl actually hire a larger team more skilled people to make a better game?IMO nope but much more likely is many of thesame assets will be rehashed reskinned so this will come off more as a NMS mod than a new fully fledged game.
So I did a quick search and yeah it seems Light No Sky is using the same engine as NMS so yeah I expect a mod slapped onto NMS type game. For many that might be plenty good for me NMS was never good enough to play so I need to see MUCH better.

The planet will be procedurally generated to make the Earth, but this is supposed to be a multiplayer online game. It is going to be the same planet for every single player but to get the planet they use their procedural generation software. Not everyone or every save is going to be a different planet. It's all going to be the same one

This looks great and very exciting. However, this likely won't be a "questy" kind of game, if that's what some players may be hoping for. If you're an end-game player of NMS, you know what this means. Players need to be self motivated enough to create their own objectives. The player needs to decide to explore, to build, or even play. There's no breadcrumb or multifaceted questing. Even reputation gains don't mean much, especially in endgame. Additionally, I hope LNF has a usefulness for food crafting, which is sorely lacking in NMS. We'll have to wait and see.

Incorrect. This is not an MMO, it is a survival/crafting game. Singleplayer was confirmed via Steam, party size is 4 players and you only connect to people that are nearby in the game world.
