Thank you guys so much for all the support!! It's been the highlight of my day reading everyone's comments. Currently working on another video, but in the meantime let me know some ideas on what you'd like to see next, I'd be happy to made anything art or game related. much love ✌
The best thing about your project is that it doesnt look like most other UE5 games with exact same vibes. This doesnt look generic at all. If you ever need a custom model and have no time to sculpt or model it, esp charcters or statues, I would love to volunteer! You can check out my channel if you wanna know my art style :D
The amazing thing about Elden Ring is all those distant structues arnt just placeholders but real buildings with countless passageways and details all without any loading screens.
@@mattbarker1411 not at all, you can go from the bottom of weeping penninsula to the furnace in mountaintops without going through a single loading screen
Great work ! I think the reality with something like Elden Ring is that, like any painting when you zoom in close its just a collection of smears but when taken as a whole they convey lots of emotion. Real life is cluttered with detail, paintings are clean in that way, and when all the lines point in the same direction metaphorically speaking the painting can convey just as much or more emotion than a photograph. I believe you touched on this in your analysis of why Elden Ring is a great work of art.
I’m glad this came up on my feed. Amazing work! I am so impressed with what you could do by yourself. Hope the algo blesses this vid so it can get the views it deserves. I’ve already shared it with a friend who’s working on developing his first game solo.
Coming from instagram, we don’t only get screenshots but a full edited VIDEO! 😱 You have outdone yourself my friend, I’m looking forward to seeing more of this. I think this would be a great series! Keep up the amazing work!
Insane. What you should make next is an updated resume and go work for Michael Zaki... And if he doesn't immediately hire you, become his nemesis and make your own souls games.
Man that came out amazing. This video felt like a setup after seeing that. Very well done, feels like Elden Ring 🙏 “Moments of rest and beauty” - coming from the grimness of Dark Souls 3, this is truly what makes Elden Ring so special - and DS3 is flipping incredible
Man, that was the most incredible thing I saw this year! I hope the next video is from Bloodborne! For me, there can be 2 hours of video that I will watch as if it were a movie! u are a GOD bro 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Awesome video! I really enjoy how the Souls community is really keen on analyzing the games, and then sharing the findings. I'm working on a Souls-Like within Unreal Engine 5, and seeing your process on making the Block-outs to match the Eldein Ring style gave me good ideas on how to tackle on my own. I'm finishing the core foundational mechanics, but in the next couple months, I'll start to delve more on Environment Art side of it! Thank you, so much for doing the video!
nah this is insane. loved how you showed the process in such an entertaining way. the music choices, tone, comedy, and easy to follow explanation helped with such a good pay off in the end. looking forward to seeing what else you cook up!!
There cinematics lead greatly to the beauty, the way you turn a corner to an open wall looking out for miles onto some of the most beautiful landscapes tattered with unnatural structures.
Your work is amazing! I envy your ability to create environments so effortlessly, congratulations ! I'm working on a personal project that I'd love to share with Square Enix, and I’m using WorldMachine, though it's still quite challenging. What kind of content are you planning for your channel ? Will there be tutorials ? Watching this video gave me a real boost for my project, haha, thanks man ! :)
Man I love hearing about people's personal projects, glad I could give a little inspiration, that sounds so dope!! Currently working on game/video inspired by the art of Arcane, gonna be much like this one, but also planning to do other videos about my experiences in the game industry and art tutorials (though I learned everything from YT so I'd prob be less informative lol).
i gotta say this is really impressive, typically when i see this sort of video the person behind it is mainly focused on graphics and doesn't really capture the art direction or feeling of how inviting these games should be to explore, but you really hit the nail on the head with this one. i agree it doesn't quite match elden ring's art style exactly but especially for the work of 1 person it's very impressive what you did here honestly i think my only criticism of how this looks has nothing to do with you, and more that there's just kind of something that looks off about unreal to me, im not sure if it's the lighting or the insanely detailed ground textures, but theres something about unreal thats lacks simplicity and it's not as easy to look at when you're up close exploring on foot. but those free cam shots are super clean
Superb. I got actual chills when you got to the bottom of the Sanctum stairs and looked back up towards it. You captured something excellent. You have a gift.
Now I know why lords of fallen looks like thrash, they were made on UE 5. Elden Ring is artistically the masterpiece. And in this video its interpreted exactly as lords of fallen. Especially flame are a horrendous
It looks great, it’s actually amazing how close you got to it. If I were to look at from the RUclips compression, I’d say what’s missing is the lighting, in elden ring even though it’s dark, you can spot lot of details which kinda add to that surreal effect while with unreal the lighting looks more realistic but we lose a little bit of that effect. The contrast is also a little bit different, there is this sort mystical filter all other the game, It probably either comes from the sky or the fog, but your realistic lighting misses a little bit of that. Also the shadows, I think they’re very careful with how the shadows of object looks, it’s sort of soft to the point of not hiding details. There are probably more details I’m missing but I think those could be points to look into.
Bro can you continue with this project it look so damn beautiful if you put more work to it then it is possible that you can create a second elden ring that we all want
Personally i think the art design & the environment is so well made in Elden Ring and I've always been curious if someone could make it so you could interact with that world without being required to play a souls game
I think what would definitely help your goal of the elden ring feel is to double down on the visual story telling. Like "Whats this place or whats this place's purpose? What happened here?"
Wow! This is your first video? Instant sub. If you actually make a Bloodborne remaster that can play on PC I would love it. Can wait to see what more you make!
this looks insanely good, i wish they remade elden ring just like this, even though it’s not an old game the graphics are definitely dated and that broke my immersion at times, but if it looked like this i wouldn’t have ever had that issue
this is awesome, just a note on the difference. your fog is too white, in elden ring everything feels kinda warm and cold at the same time, everything else you could only do better with a team of people, who do also everything by hand. But for a 1 man project this was awesome to watch!
Very well done. I think the player model should have had an invisible light on it, not too bright, and not creating a shadow, all soulslike games have that. This invisible light is turned on or off depending on the darkness of the area using code, sometimes its brightness is reduced or increased. That would make it a bit easier to see in the scene, because if I was playing your scene on my PC, I'd certainly complain that as beautiful as it looks, I can't see much around me on the ground due to the darkness. Perhaps it is also due to Unreal's 'realistic' lighting or whatever. I always found it to be a bit too dark and contrasty at times, which is why I felt almost blind playing Wukong this year, as whenever you enter an enclosed space, the camera takes a few seconds to dilate its 'pupils' and make the scene brighter.
I mostly learned through youtube! My favorite channels are: Unreal Sensei, Ben Cloward, Prismatica Dev, renderBucket, and Magnet VFX. They have a ton of tutorials.
Wow bro... it looks amazong! Love it! But still... it doesn't have that characteristic art-style signature that fromsoftware puts in those games. ✌️ peace
Turns out that a big part of what makes FromSoft games look like FromSoft games is the engine they use. It's somehow both modern and a bit dated, which makes it feel nostalgic from the moment you first launch the game, whereas Unreal Engine is a bit too modern and crisp to capture that same feeling authentically. It's like someone adding a bunch of realism shaders to minecraft. It can still look good, but it doesn't capture that same sort of feeling.
Jaw dropped = subscribed If i had your skill id send it to fromsoft if wanted to work with with them lol. I wonder how long itll take this video to hit 1M views

well they are still "placeholders", lod technology improved so much it became very difficult to spot when they get replaced!
