Absolutely what people have to understand, especially those who don't know code or the inner workings of code, is things take time. With Code is when you add something to already existing lines of code, it's likely to break either what came before it or what comes after and it's a delicate process of trying to make the new addition work with the old. At least in my experience with code learning still currently.

It was funny because I went to Volleyball practice and asked my buddy if he knew about LNF and he said he was excited and how it was co op and open world. Then he ended the excitement with “oh and it’s by the same people who made No Man Sky, so yeah it will be good”

No man's sky gets better every time I play it and this is what gives me so much hope for light no fire regardless of it's state of play at launch hello games will put their heads down and make it great in time. Some patients required sure but few studios are delivering finished content at launch.

    I'll repost my comment from last LNF video as I still think it is a valid point to bring up to sceptics and the specifics of which was not brought up in this video;
"Hello games are using the engine they made for NMS for this game. Have people forgotten that that engine now has almost 15 years of development put into it, 5 years before NMS release and almost a decade more since then
And the massive difference between 'NMS' and 'Light No Fire 'was that most of HGs focus during those 5 years off NMS development was most of the first 4 years spent on developing the engine to be able to handle what they had planned for NMS.
Compare that with 'Light No Fire', which at the point of starting development had 10 years of development time put into the actual engine, to think that the release of 'Light No Fire' will be the same as NMS is just people being willfully ignorant or not using their brains enough.

It's astonishing to see that even after 7 years, a vocal minority still holds onto their grudge against Hello Games. The level of pettiness to sustain such negativity over a video game for such a time long is mind-boggling.
The journey of Hello Games, particularly the ups and downs following the release of NMS, is precisely what makes me excited for 'Light No Fire'.
It's clear they've learned valuable lessons and are committed to not repeating the same mistakes.
The redemption of NMS has built a foundation of trust and goodwill, something HG is unwilling to risk losing again.
Although there is overall confidence that Hello Games would rectify any initial issues with 'Light No Fire', it is crucial for their reputation that the game launches successfully without repeating history.
My only main concern is how they dealt with Multiplayer this time, as that is still pretty iffy in NMS.

You know, that last comment. Of all the companies on the list, I think Hello Games did the best.
People have short memories. And yes, Hello Games didn't fix the game in a week... they took 3 months of absolute silence to do so. However, in that 3 months, Sean personally rerouted all communications to himself, shielding his team from the literal worse of the Internet. Then filtered the garbage data from actual usable data, and proceeded to prioritize what needed to be done. And slowly, he let his actions speak louder than his words. Instead of apologizing, his apology was to make the game great. And while it took a while, No Man's Sky became a story not of disaster, but of redemption.
Clawed from "mostly negative" to "Overwhelmingly positive" Steam Reviews (The Overwhelmingly Positive is from recent, all time sits at Very Positive). Some gamers have that "Too little too late" mentality, and I get it. But when you still have people in 2023 who think it's still 2016, that's a problem.
And remember, even if you bought NMS as a pre-order, you have gotten a 3 months cadence of great improvements and expansions for free. No Man's Sky never released a paid DLC. Never blamed the community, never blamed anyone but themselves. And they made it right by releasing many things they never promised either. Free VR mode for PC and PlayStation 3 years after launch, and no "exclusive contract" incentives? What other company does that?

  • @driftwood8613

No Man's Sky was a marvel achievement of gaming technology at launch. Regardless of how "unfinished" it was, it was still unlike anything that had ever been developed before, and 8 years later still hasn't been rivaled. All the haters just don't understand what they're even looking at and probably never game the game a real try.

The great thing about Hello Games is that although NMS was pretty bare at the beginning they kept at it until it was fleshed out and went beyond a lot of expectations. So I wont preorder but I will pick it up closer to launch.
A lot of people really joined the hate train on No Man's Sky and Internet Historian did a great video on NMS The Engoodening of No Man's Sky. It really broke down what happened and how they recovered.
I trust them to knock this out the park and am looking forward to this game.

I have to disagree with "irreparably damaged reputation". A lot of people (myself included) have almost forgot about the launch of NMS, except remembering it was bad. I focus on how it's probably one of the biggest turnarounds a game/developer has ever made. This is a company that may have faltered at first, but picked themselves up, learned from mistakes, and did NOT take it out on their player base. They have redeemed themselves. This is the kind of attitude and passion I want to see on a project like Light No Fire, and therefore I am highly optimistic.

I think I got lucky. I'd heard of No Man's Sky when it first released but it wasn't quite on my radar at the time. Then Starfield came out and, while looking at footage of that, I noticed people kept bring up NMS. After finding it on sale for 60% off, I decided to buy it and give it a shot. So far I'm really enjoying it and having fun exploring.
Then, at the game's awards, I saw they're coming out with the game Light No Fire. It hits all the right buttons for me - large open world, fantasy type setting, crafting, building, fighting. It reminds me a little of Valheim, a game I love. So now I'm really looking forward to trying out LNF.
Maybe it would have been different if I had tried NMS when it first launched, but because I didn't try it until this year my opinion of Hello Games is quite positive.

I’m sure they will have the exploration down. No doubt there. They need to nail the RPG elements that make other games of the same genre great. And capitalize off the scale of their own world!
Example: Giant world bosses that require your mounts to get to or land on. Dungeons with cool gear that you can’t just craft or randomly find. Flashy and meaningful combat overall. I don’t want to just have cool stuff to look at. I want it to be useful for the other content that’s available.

If you still want to get into NMS from a content creator standpoint: Jason Plays, Beeblebum, Xaine's World, SurvivalBob, Golden Gek and Captain Steve are the go-to creators for absolutely anything over the game. And don't be sorry: the game is still alive and kicking. You can jump in, do some very casual gaming on it with or without friends and go get into something else. And if you want to see how fun this game can be with your friends (even while your friends are in different time zones across the globe), watch the "The Amazing Race" with the first four names of the list above (plus NoMandySky, guest Twitch streamer), orchestrated by The Survival Bob. It is an absolutely blast and very entertaining to see either the compilation or the perspective of each streamer. Worth every minute.

I had never even played No Man’s Sky until 2 weeks ago. Been using it to escape dealing with the emotions of the loss of a dear friend far too young. Having never played a survival type game before it really sucked me in. I didn’t know anything about the games history and it’s rough start. That being said, seeing the games current state beginning at the end of 2023 it gives me a TON of faith in the devs. I’m one of the most critical people you’ll ever encounter when it comes to software developers. I hope the game has more sense of direction then NMS.
I had and still have some trouble with NMS as a solo or multiplayer setting in terms of a meaningful goal and a purpose to said goal.
Dont get me wrong NMS has soooo much content, but that does not nessesarily mean a good thing, IT DOES satisfy a certain genre of players whom like RP, and collecting all kinds of stuff.
But im more of a vertical progression type, and what id like to see in this grand, as big as life open world sean is saying it to be (totally believe him btw) is a sense of progression where youll need a party to explore furter areas because ur just not strong/geared enough,
Or even exploring solo, going places that are clearly meant to be much harder, would set a clear goal in grinding for power, rather then just for additional cosmetics (which they already have that nailed down to the T).
All and all if they can find the balance between nms style of collecting, cosmetic reward systems, and power progression like an rpg, it could very much be the best game covering almost all aspects of gaming.

nah the biggest no mans sky problem is that HG never delivered on the Superformula Procedural Generation they promised and demonstrated at GDC 8 years ago...and even worse they never explained why they failed on the most important feature of the game. Sadly new NMS players dont even know what NMS was supposed to be and they dont understand the hate because they areignorant of the lies and failures.

Keep up the good videos, and trying to shed a little positivity. I missed NMS launch and picked up the game later on. NMS has it's issues but it's a great game. I am really looking forward to LNF. I think Happy Games have learned a lot and are moving in a good direction. The gaming community, myself included, have a problem. We over consume and perhaps expect too much sometimes. Then add in the poison of the current sad state of social media. We just need to remember, if we don't like something we just need to move on. There is no need to attack it, like somehow it is a personal threat to our safety, it is just a game.

My skepticism / pessimism regarding Light No Fire isn't so much because I have any negative thoughts towards Hello Games (NMS has become an excellent game),
it's more because the game is releasing in 2024/2025, and unfinished games with dishonest marketing are the "new-normal".
I don't expect to see any dishonest marketing from Hello Games after the disastrous launch of NMS, but my excitement for this game is going to remain firmly grounded at rock-bottom until I see reviews from actual gamers- not IGN, or whatever new YongYea-tuber that praises any new release that they happen to get a kickback from.

What they are wanting to do is a crazy tall order and i dont think they will pull it off. Then the 3D action RPGs Fallout3&4 came out and they were really fun as well, i recommend you at least try them if you have the time. The world has some depth to it and, as crazy as it is some times, it's a fun ride to choose which factions to side with and see where it takes the narrative, wouldn't want you to miss out just because you have genre bias like i did.

I think the lack of information being pushed by Hello Games is a good sign with how the launch is going to go. One of the biggest issues with NMS was the launch expectations brought on by all the early conversations in various media outlets. I remember hearing my first Sean Murray interview on a non-gaming news outlet less than a week after the first teaser for NMS came out. That early in development it very well could have been all those things but on launch it wasn't. So with Light No Fire we're seeing a more reserved Hello Games. Sean Murray is posting comic strips poking fun at himself and the media interviews for NMS. Hello Games learned so much from the NMS launch and post-launch development that I would be shocked to see anything that wasn't a complete feature already finished being talked about. For those that question these things... most of what we've seen is already in NMS. Mounts, check. Building, check. Swimming, check. Harvesting, check. Exploration, check. These things look kind of like NMS because they're likely made in the NMS engine. But again, they exist already so there's no reason to not show them off.

honestly no mans sky for expeditions lately is better for non new players if you look at december. last expedition voyagers i played wasn't that great. i am somewhat new to no mans sky. the main issue for no man's sky is multiplayer and seems like the devs put that effect into light no fire. no mans sky seems not finished right now. overall from what i heard and seen it is much better but again without multiplayer/possibly boss fights no mans sky feels unpolished. if they fix multiplayer this coming year the game would feel overall much better. especially if you can do multiplayer space battles/ground pvp like events. again seems like they put that into light no fire.

I Hope it will be good but there isn’t much informations or gameplay about this game. One of my biggest problems in no mans sky was exploration, after some time everything looks the same, planets, ships, space station, aliens, animals, plants. It don’t feel like it’s something new to explore it feels more like oh I did see that already now 10 times. When they don’t fix this and the repetitive gameplay loop I see black for this game. One problem where already exist is the hype, a hype is always bad for a game even if it will be good, the people always expect more. We see it now there aren’t much informations about this game but we can read already a long list what people expect.

I played NMS on launch and thought it was ok, I think the game had about 20-30 hours of gameplay which was not ideal for a $60 game.
Imo when they released NMS Next update. They redeemed themselves and righted any wrongs HG had.
People out there saying LNF will be a bad game because of how NMS was launched are people we should not take seriously and to be frank should be confronted and put in check with facts then block them.
Today we live in a world where keyboard warriors run amok and people need to be aware of that.
Also LNF will play just like NMS as far as multiplayer is concerned. So no ability to server host or anything of like that.

I think that last guy has a point. The reputation is completely destroyed, never to be repaired. People can't learn from their mistakes. I mean, I can't, therefore no one can. So it's going to be the same kind of disaster. /s
There is no doubt in my mind Light No Fire will not be complete at launch. Seven years in and their still adding new stuff to NMS. They fixed it's issues and kept going. LNF will be similar, but it will be a more complete experience at launch because the team has learned better.

@@GingerPrimeGaming True, that is why i quit watching those channels, some are just outright clickbaiting. Or some dont have even played it and go mental on it. I can see you can not play every game out there. But sometimes its just strange how people behave. Unfortunally we have some regualars on the SC community who love to hate on it. Even people who said a couple of times they quit the game forever, just to come back again with more hate.

Hello Games has one Server guy... for No Man's Sky they farm their Multiplayer out via Azure...
Multiplayer in No Man's Sky is super broken, try playing in a team of 4 and run the weekend mission and see if you encounter issues, I live stream my team of 4 every Friday... 1 in 4 weeks goes well... 75% of the time we have bugs.
Light no Fire places Multiplayer as its core draw... this worries me... if Hello Games hasn't fixed Multiplayer in 7 years for NMS why would LNF have it right ?
