Currently doing a full complete play through of all the story arks in hardcore. I didn't know where to build to start my adventure so this video was a god sent. Thank you :)
Thanks for showing the coordinates! It's frustrating to stumble upon an older video with recommendations and have the creator just assume everyone already has encyclopedic knowledge of the map and can immediately recognize every location.
Herbo Island (number 7) is probably the most wanted one. Thx for video, you showed me some spots I did not know about. Will be interesting to see how it goes on ASA launch.
Thankyou for the great suggestions. I think it's harder finding a great base location that isn't typical and boring, but you suggested some new ones that I am definitely gonna play with. Subscribed!!
I have mixed feelings for snow bases i build on 10 but it gives me the feeling of wanting a vacation, in the long term bases on the ocean in a warmer biome are far more enjoyable
I’m a new Ark player and I’ve settled around 13, and sort of around 16/17 area. And 10. At least while I’m playing on single player. On predator island I made an outpost right on the tip of the southern outlet. A great place to make an outpost and use a raft to pick off the predators you want and bring them there for safety. It’s actually fascinating how I’ve ended up building so many outposts close to these places. Though I’m still deciding where I’m going to build my permanent Island home.
People never thing of looking under the water for metal. Let the Dunkelo do the work! Makes the Red Ob areas easier to work with. Really solid list. Been reviewing it now that ASA is finally out. Appreciate the list :)
What a perfect video btw! number 20 is really great! Just ceilings and a big castle on those waters. I dont mind the "constant" battles between sarcos and boas, but the bug where my tames gets teleported out of the swamp made me abandon this place😢 (Maybe because of the bug people don't want to build in the swamps?)
(sorry for late reply), Somehow maybe just a bug on MY copy, but yeah they are kind of getting teleported 20 to 60m out of the swamp, but yeah anyways I've picked the snow one, thankss
Im late to the party, but still, thank you very much for this guide. From my part I must add that you have another two, three spots for nice and more or less safe base. Two are cheep, starting/opening ones on Crag Island (top of the island, Rockwell church like ruins - you can incorporate them in to your base, no problem, but water is a bit far. The other one is at the cliff, near this cybernetic explorer note, its flat and decent sized and naturally guarded from two directions by stone hill and ocean, but you must first cut a lot of trees there) and one is in winter biome, at top of the cliff near the ocean. Normally it looks as full of rocks waste of time, but when you gater oil/stone nodes you will get a decent sized fully flat platform, but its a bit dangerous place, because of randomly spawning pack of Carnos or a roaming pack of Dire Wolves.
I normally pick them all thinking about how good the spots are for the duration of the game, sadly the spots that are easy and normally spots far away from good resources and points of interest etc, I'd recommend starting out on the beach somewhere safe then moving to a better spot once you're ready! Also spots #19, #18, #17, #13, #7 Herbivore Island (is also a great spot which is safe if you can get there by raft) those are all pretty beginner friendly with the biggest threats just being the odd Raptor now and again!
My buddy and i set up base at Lat 48.8 62.8 Long. Very good spot where dinos dont venture to with a hollow log creating a bridge over a river into the redwood. We have the volcano and 2 other mountains near us and are within walking distance of the snow. Surrounded by rivers and have a ravine cutting through with loads of stone
2:11 yass thats almost right next to my current base✌️ (but i warn yall, there are a lot of alpha spawns there and a lot of sarco spawns. But its good because there’s a lot of beaver dams too.) 4:20 and thats my another base! (On the pillar and be careful because if you want a base on there too, i warn you that its higher than a titanosaur. I know from experience.)
So I used to have a base spot on Herbie Island but it's so isolated I had to fly halfway across the map just to go on metal runs but now where I am currently at the base of the volcano across the river from the Redwoods on this cliff I can basically do metal runs in my backyard
I’m just looking for places with even ground where i can build stuff, im in the end game so i only care about building There is a really good spot near 16, it’s a cliff and its a flat spot Literally just down the hill Haven’t watched the whole thing yet I actually live at 13, it’s a bit dangerous though because creatures come from the swamp 6 is also really close to where i was talking about
No way. Ive gotten back into ark and needed a new area and found one but decided to research new areas and Number one is where i found just earlier and i was thinking of putting a base there but didnt know if i should. But now that ik it is in fact flat i definitely will. What are the chances 😅
Yes! That is a great spot, I did actually build a small house there once! I just think the whole area around number 5 is super advantageous to build in! Keeping the wild spawns intact ofcourse!😁
I don't think you can unfortunately, i'm currently playing Scorched and I have to travel to Aberration and other DLC to be able to learn those engrams!
God there was a nice location but i dont remember where it was... It either was near red or green orb it was a round spot u can walk up to and just wall it around. with 2-3 access points. I hoped it was on here so i can build there again. Sadly it was not.
I think I might know where you mean, there's a good spot at the top of a hill near green Ob covered in trees at around 62.0 - 78.6 with a few ways up like you mention, if it's the same spot you're on about I really did want to add it to the video but chose not to as it's extremely far from water but a great spot if you don't mind building a huge water pipeline!
@@BEYPlaysGames Omg yes it is, tysm i searched like half an hr in single player hahahah. I play with mods so water aint the problem, but i can see why it is a reason to not list it since officials dont allow mods.
@@truqzztv3848 Yeah that is the only reason, I personally don't mind building a huge water pipeline if the spot is good enough but yeah alot of people on official don't like to🤣 No problem! I'm Glad I found your spot!
I was just gonna mega base in the center....😅 I mean with a bunch of walls and shit to protect it in lattice formation but liiike 😅 doesn't sound like a bad idea..of course maybe zip lines to and from the obelisk for now
You have to unlock them on other maps unfortunately! I personally don't think they're as great as they could be! I'd prefer to build a water base from scratch without them to be honest! :D
Thanks :D. Ummm well, they kinda can spawn on occasion further up the stream toward the snow and down the bottom of the waterfall, the bigger problem is that you can sometimes get Rexes wandering down from the volcano side of the river, doesn't happen a lot but yeah it'll be a tough spot to get a base going if you go there naked and without a decent battle mount XD
for number 14 like i’m there in the game rn and there are no beavers or damn i have only built 2 thatch foundations where yours are so i didn’t block em
Tbh it is probably the worse Beaver location on the map as they don't consistently spawn as much as the other locations, assuming you've only just started building there if you've only placed 2 foundations then you will see them spawn there at some point :)
Yeah most of the spots are not beginner friendly, they are great spots for mid and late game so starting to build early can be challenging but for me I pick them because they are the best spots resource-wise and with great creatures nearby to tame, most decent beginner friendly locations are bad when reaching mid-late game so you'd probably end up wanting to move later on anyway! There are still more beginner friendly locations on this list if you'd want me to recommend the best?
Depends what type of base you like to build 😁, I love 13 because of how flat it is but someone said that you cannot build there on official servers (I could build there on SP and on unofficial though) it's right next to the underwater cave (prob best cave for farming high tier blueprints) it's also pretty close to the volcano and right next to the ocean. Number 9 is always a fun area to build in and is surrounded by mountains for rare resources. 5 is near volcano and snow mountain and i also love that spot, a little bit boring terrain-wise and probably one of the more dangerous spots to live in, it's worth it once you get set up, it's right next to the ocean too (and also very close to the same underwater cave from location 13). Any location after top 4 are great locations for building, resources/mountains etc but none of those are near the ocean!
13 and 7 are my favourite but some have said that they cannot build at number 13 on official servers, 13 is great for a water base and extremely flat for a large build if you prefer to build on flat surfaces :) number 7 is just so iconic and is amazing for a water base and/or big land base, only down side is that it is the furthest from the mainland!

Not necessarily but if you have a character with it unlocked it could make for an even cooler base spot!
