I used this video last year to make a batch of these. I became OBSESSED and am now making more this year. Solid, informative video. Thank you again! They are so fun to plan out and see come to life! (..or death)
I'm not sure what you mean by "fill in the lettering." If you mean how did I cut out the letters and other designs, I used a Dremel rotary tool with an engraving attachment.
No, I used regular paint, either black or very dark gray. And I have since come to believe that it's better to not do that. It makes it look like the lettering was just painted onto a flat surface, whereas if you just paint things uniformly it will make it more obvious that the letters are engraved into the stone.
I do not, but I can tell you I use Bit #194 with engraving attachment #565. Set the depth at about 1/2-inch and just take your time. Maybe practice on a scrap piece of foam to get a feel for it. And I strongly suggest wearing eye protection and a dust mask.
Thank you very much I will give it a go. Very new to all of this as New Zealand is not very big on Halloween yet! in fact I am the only one on my street that does it. :)
Money, time, effort - as I said in the video, I just don't think it's necessary, I'm perfectly happy with the results I got. But that's just me. I'm not trying to talk anyone out of using Drylok or Monster Mud, I'm just describing the techniques that I use myself.
I forget, it was either Gorilla Glue or Liquid Nails, they both work. The important part about gluing is to do it BEFORE you do any painting, otherwise you're just gluing onto that thin layer of paint and it will pull off very easily.
How do you address mounting and holding thinner tomstones without the bases in the grass?I've seen others glue in some pvc in between and use rebar...but I vaguely noticed you had something (brackets)?? on the back of these
They're plastic conduit straps from Lowes. Glue them on BEFORE you do any painting. I take 1/2-inch pvc pipe and cut it into 2.5 -foot lengths that are pointed at one end. I drive the pvc "stake" into the ground then set the tombstone down so the stake goes through the conduit strap. This obviously only works if nobody will see the back of the tombstone. I made a separate video about this here: ruclips.net/video/SgOHUIDtGAs/видео.html
Are you making a statement or asking a question? I would say, in theory, maybe. But it might be messy and more difficult. Regular Styrofoam is more brittle and crumbles easily. Might not work at all.

I'm here watching the commercials play....hope to still be alive when they finish. tHanks for this video...I hope to try this this month!
I can't even begin to tell you how much your video helped me. Thank you SO much 👏👏👏👏👏
These are gorgeous. Great video. I am going to do something like this for a Day of the Dead decorations for this November. Thanks for this tutorial!
Excellent, they look great.
Would have been nice to actually see you making them
Love you video! Tombstones look great!
Awesome video, helped tremendously
Those look GREAT!
Best tombstone DIY. Lots of variety, and very helpful.
Love them good job
What glue are you using? Are you painting before you glue? I'm having a hard time with styrofoam sticking to styrofoam.
Liquid Nails works fine. Glue BEFORE you paint. Also, sorry it took me so long to answer, for some reason RUclips never notified me of your comment.
So the stone spray paint doesn’t erode the foam? Just regular old spray paint?
Yes, stone spray paint WILL erode the foam. You have to put on a base coat of regular paint if you want to use spray paint with no damage to the foam.
Ok thanks, I’m getting supplies tonight- very excited! Thanks for a great video
Great video! How and what did you use to fill in the lettering?
I'm not sure what you mean by "fill in the lettering." If you mean how did I cut out the letters and other designs, I used a Dremel rotary tool with an engraving attachment.
You use a 1 inch sharpie

Hi,
What dremel engraving attachment did you use?
Bit #194 with engraving attachment #565
Thanks and have a happy 🎃 Halloween 🎃
How do you make the engraved patterns and letters?
I used a Dremel. I've also heard of people using soldering irons or Xacto knives.
Which attachment do you use on the dremel?
Bit #194 with engraving attachment #565
where did you get the projector and how much do they cost?
I got it on eBay, I forget the price. There are a ton of projectors on eBay in all kinds of price ranges.
Hi, do you have a video of you using the Dremel?
I do not, but I can tell you I use Bit #194 with engraving attachment #565. Set the depth at about 1/2-inch and just take your time. Maybe practice on a scrap piece of foam to get a feel for it. And I strongly suggest wearing eye protection and a dust mask.

What did you search to find the designs on the stones?
Do a Google search for "decorative vector logo design elements" images.
Any reason other than expense that you did not use Drylok?

@@jco685 Sounds fair, good video, very informative
Thank you...!!!..AWESOME ideas...!!!!...Great Job...!!!
What glue did you use to secure skull, cross bones to the styro..???

Can do this with reg Styrofoam
