    Thanks for the progress videos when you can... I think I speak for everyone here... we love seeing how you make stuff and the results you are getting. The Winchester Mystery House is lucky to have you guys make this for them... and how awesome it must feel for you guys to be requested to make stuff for them... what an incredible opportunity... to think... You're now part of the history of that amazing place!!!

    I love this prop! The change that I would try to make would be to have the broken slab pieces move independently of each other. When you cut them apart, glue them to a burlap panel on the bottom that holds them together, but lets them push up and apart a little bit. Then on top of each of the cams, put a smaller plywood panel with a hinge on the other side, so the cam pushes the small plywood panel up and down at a slight angle, transferring the up and down to the broken slab but not the rotational force. With three cams set at different angles on one drive rod, I would expect the movement to look more organic without adding complexity to the motor mechanism. I love all that you guys do, and you inspire me to build new props every year!

    • @HollywoodHaunter
      @HollywoodHaunter  Год назад +1

      Thanks Greg that is such a wonderful idea and one I wouldn't mind trying. Its interesting cause for this particular project we find ourselves sometimes holding back on certain fun ideas because there is a fine balance to try and juggle with the house vs letting loose in our own home haunt if that makes sense. We have used a burlap bag over the years over the mech but I never thought of gluing cracked rock over them.

    • @TheSteveAS
      @TheSteveAS Год назад +1

      Great idea Greg! I had a similar idea. All I would add to your design idea is a dedicated cam that would pull the string on the bell. Maybe a "wavy" cam with a follower, so that the bell would ring more randomly.

    • @GregoryHaynes
      @GregoryHaynes Год назад

      I agree with Greg and Steve! The broken slab pieces and the bell could move using the apparatus you built and cams! It's perfect for the bell themed grave stone.

    Back in my hometown in Mexico there’s a cemetery full of really antique tombs and mausoleums where there are several recurring hauntings in specific tombs one of them being that of a child that was afraid of the dark and his tomb is an above ground stone coffin with tiny holes for him to get some light because according to the story his little corpse would climb out of the grave because it was dark and they had to rebury him several times…
    There’s also a tombstone with a brass hand coming out of it through the stone with a similar story, that bell tombstone reminded me of such stories… 😃
    If anyone is curious it’s called “Panteon de Belen” in Guadalajara and it’s full of haunting stories both from staff and visitors, I used to go there all the time to take photos during the day and sometimes I would go at night as they did spooky guided tours at around midnight ( The cemetery is no longer operating as it reached full capacity many decades ago, but it’s still open to the public)

      @HollywoodHaunter  Год назад

      That's really cool hopefully you'll get a chance to perfect it for this year. One of these years we should break our habit and focus on that part first. Cheers!

      @@HollywoodHaunter Yeah, I think mechanics might be better left to February, March, and April, set aside from the pressures of other projects, and when my workshop is cooler.
