    I wish I could have went tricking or treating to houses like this when I was a kid, back then in the early 80's they didn't make all these decorations people just carved a pumpkin, Looks great! Love it!

      Thanks a bunch, they have really stepped up the amount of Halloween decorations over the past few years. There is some really cool stuff out there. I'm with you on the tricker treating as a kid. I was an early 70's kid and no one decorated for Halloween, but everyone participated in the Trick or Treating then! You would make a killing on candy!!

    Just Awesome...
    I love the small lighted signs. Do you have a tutorial on making them?
    My best,
    Doc Ray.

    • @MrJuskau
      @MrJuskau  10 месяцев назад +1

      I haven't done any tutorials yet on making this stuff. My video making skills are a little less than desirable. All our signs and tombstones are made from Owens Corning FOAMULAR pink foam board. The tombstones are made from 2" and the signs are made from 1" and 1/2" sizes. I normally design the words on a computer, print them out, transfer them to the foam board, and use a Dremel to cut them out. I also use the Dremel to hollow out the back side of the sign and mount 12 V LED strip lights to the inside. I close it up with another piece of 1/2" foam board and then paint them to look like wood or stone.

    This is sick. Way to stick to a theme and really make it go with all the small details. I like the random pumpkins everywhere too or should I say strategically placed pumpkins lol.

    Looks absolutely Great! My question is......How do you STOP Idiots....Kids ....Teenagers.... from Stealing your BIG Pumpkins on the Outside of Fence? They are not CHEAP to replace. Theft and Vandalism are always my Biggest Concerns, when it comes to our own Display. How to you Prevent them from being Stolen? Love the Haunt! Cheers

      Thanks so much, we really appreciate it. Knock on wood, we really haven't had an issue to this point. We used to pull in everything every night that could be easily lifted and taken, but that soon got to be too much of a chore on a nightly basis. I think we had someone take one of our post pumpkins this year though. I chalked it up to wind at first, but there were other things that would have taken flight way before those guys. SO, to answer the question, we're running at risk right now. I'm sure if this turns into a problem, we'll have to figure a way to either secure stuff down, or deter them some other way.

    Where did you get all the lanterns from? Looks awesome.

    • @MrJuskau
      @MrJuskau  10 месяцев назад

      Some were purchased at Hobby Lobby and some work done on them to give them a little spook factor. The ones hanging in the trees are home made with mason jars, twine and creepy cloth. We did get a couple from Home Depot about 3-4 years ago and have been able to find any like them anywhere.

    Looks great! Lots of fabulous peices. Fantastic lightning. Hope you have a great turn out every year. I'd love for you to check out my yard haunt on RUclips. 7th Circle Cemetery. We're in Nebraska. I'd love to hear how you started out. Mine started when my now wife said she wanted us to be the house everyone talks about. I was like ok sure. I started small with a few homemade head stones since store bought were so small. Now this year 2024 ,18 Halloweens later, we are definitely one of the houses everyone talks about. Keep up the good work and know that your community appreciates your efforts.

      Thank you so much for all your feedback! We’ll certainly check out your haunt for some inspiring ideas as we get ready for the 2024 season. We started this adventure back in 2013, although it was only a few inflatables and a couple of jack o'lanterns we place out the day before Halloween. Probably in 2015 I got a wild hair and built a coffin from foam board and a small fence from a few cedar pickets. The next year it was a few columns and more fence with foam board tombstones and it kind of went from there. We try to add something new each year. Each year we take about a week to ten days to start our setup. Placing the props isn’t so much the issue, its getting all the wire placed and setting up the electrical. That alone takes me about 2-3 days to get set and another day to troubleshoot issues. Our house isn’t on the beaten path, so not many people knew about it the first few years we set up, but over the past couple of years we really have seen an up tick in the traffic that comes by to see the setup. Halloween night we can see a lot of trick or treaters and everyone is really in awe with the detail we have put into our setup. Last year we probably had 75-80 people at the display at one time looking at all the stuff we have in our haunt. We’re quickly approaching this years setup and I intend on doing another completed setup video for this year’s haunt. Again, we appreciate your time in sending out some good feedback and comments! Makes it all worthwhile to have support from the community. We appreciate it!

      @MrJuskau sounds like we followed a similar path. The neighborhood we first lived in didn't have any kids nearby, so very few trick or treaters the first few years. Each year, adding a few things. Started with a small cemetery with homemade headstones in the front yard with some fencing around it. Later, I turned our foyer into a mortuary. On the 6th Halloween, my stepdaughter started walking around in the cemetery, creeping people out that walked up. So, the next year, I made the cemetery area bigger for her to perform in. By our twelfth Halloween, we got too much of a bottleneck going in and out of the foyer that I made a minnie haunted trail going up our walk through our porch and out the cemetery. In 2020 we bought a house. The first question everyone asked us was what about Halloween. I told them not to worry. every house we looked at. I would think about how to set it up. Thou I had thought about ending it in 2026 when it falls on a Saturday. But now that I have a nearly 3 year old grandson who already really loves Halloween, I can't do that to him. So the show must go on.
      I look forward to your 2024 setup.
      I agreed that laying out all the extension cords is time-consuming. I always buy green ones, so they blend into the yard better. I cut up wire hangers and bend u-shaped stakes to hold them down so no one trips on them. They're easy to retive if you pull the cords up slowly. Also, write the length on the ends. I don't remember which year I started doing this, but I draw up maps of where things go and what length of cords I need to reach them.
