I need to say that I saw this video last year and made two AWESOME columns. I got so many compliments, I'm thinking about adding a couple more and maybe some fake stone walls.
this is by far the best and easiest to follow how-to video out there! I wish there was a way I could post a picture of my columns, I think Mr Brozovich would enjoy seeing them. Anyway, THANKS!

+Isabel Lind you should post a video, while you're at it you should look for mine on my channel by looking at recent videos, I still have yet to sea sponge darker gray paint on and draw cracks, but they are mainly done, based on this guys-

a great video as I love the simplicity of your pillars, I must only use screws as I live in an APT and must break them down every year. I am very excited to start this Project but will use power bars for all my lighting ideas I have coming off these, thanks!!

this video made me dizzy watching it! The finished product is beautiful but it would be better to have the camera sitting somewhere solid !

You glue it and screw it. I laughed so hard.lol..But, a easyer way to go do stone texture. Is you take a brush. And dab or u flick the bruch. Or easyer way is. You buy textured spray paint.
Very nice job bro very skilled

Great tutorial. I am in the process of making these columns myself. I am thoroughly enjoying making these. By the way, you sound exactly like Emmet Walsh the famous actor.

Thanks Bob for your reply. So, the grey paint is the same as the gray that you mixed with the black? Is it just a dark gray?

  • @FordFalcon1962nBlue
    @FordFalcon1962nBlue 9 лет назад

i think it would cost 30.00 to get 2 4 by 8 1/4th inch pieces of that plywood he used..plus the cost of the 2x2 and 2x4 wood which is probably another 5 or so dollars for both towers, add the cost of foam and paint im guessing it cost 50.00 to make two..which isnt bad.. make 3 to make it worth your while to grab the paint he used and probably for 80.00 you get 3 nice well built halloween collums-

first coat was mixed with some black to darken it up and was applied with a roller.

Nice video. I do have a question about the paint. When you pianist the first coat of gray, is it the same gray that you mixed with the black or are they two different shades of gray? Also, did you use a roller or brush?

Sorry I read it wrong. I am guessing you used the same black and white with the sponge or was that different? Thanks again.

hey took me a while to figure out how you got a 4 foot piece high onto a 53 inch piece of wood to make the 4 corner support beams..then i realized the bottom 2 x 4 and 1x2 take 3 inches off it and the top takes off another 2 inches..53-5 = 48 or 4 feet, the length of the plywood sheet- but you did mention something about 11 3/4 by 12 1/16th or something, so its not exactly square one side of the collum is an extra inch or so,

Good looking columns but ask somebody else to film things for you. Very hard to see all of the detail and it's kind of nauseating.

Why use styrofoam for the tops? Wind will blow those off.

i made the exact ones he made wish you lived in idaho id sell you mine! you can build each one for what i estimated at 35.00 each, that includes wood, nails, screws, and the Styrofoam and paint, assuming you make more than 2 since i made 7 but this guy never did say what kind of plywood he used but i assume he used the 15.00 4x8 at home depot...

    • @rjbrozov

I use all four I built and have not made any more. Working on new Halloween projects now.For the FordFalcon1962nBlue comment, I used 1/4 x 4x8 plywood, one sheet for all four.
