Ty. I appreciate the tip. However watching the video in its entirety was extra informative. The tips I can use to find the follow parts later.... so, thanks again.
I've been doing the YWLT for a year now and my neck no longer hurts. I do a variation: I hold each position for a count of 30, 3 times a week. After a year of doing this, my upper back and chest are much stronger and my neck pain is gone because my posture is straight and I stand up straight. It's an amazing change that makes feel much better about myself and more confident about how I look at 70. It has led to many related adjustments. When I look down, for example when cooking, I keep my cervical spine straight and bend my head. This exercise has been life-changing and for that, I am so grateful.

One of the things I do for these things. I realize like you said, subconsciously we all tend to lean forward with many, things we do. In doing so, we lean forward with our neck, instead of just tilting the head up and down from a neutral position. The same is also true with the rest of the body, our shoulders and upper back. This can and does even carry down to our lower back, from leaning forward at the waist. So, one simple exercise for everything in one. Just take a moment now and then to think about if your back is up against the balc of our seat. Many times we can stop and think of this while driving. We will realize our bwck is actually moved forward from the back of our seat. Where the seat is designed for us to lean back in. Not only lean back but to also be in good neutral position. So. Lean back as the waist. Then the upper torso, with our shoulders going back into our seat amd against your seat. And finally pur head back into the head rest. Yiu willfind as crazy as it sounds that this position the higher we move up our body will feel very awkward. You will most likely stop and think how crazy is that? The sitting position that is supose to be the most natural and comfortable, actually feel the most unnatural and uncomfortable. The more these are difficult for you, the more common and off mutual you body has become over time. So, we all need to work on making this the most common and comfortable position by focusing on doing it first a little, from time to time while driving,,at a stop light, stop sign or when ever you can make a game of taking a moment to stop and thin about thos, amd do this little test to see how well your body is in burial position it is also an exercise each time we consciously take the time to check ourself, and our subconscious bad posture/sitting position. In a sence we are reprogramming our mind and body. The more we do so, the better we are able to created a good habit which becomes more frequent than our bad habit of posture. What is everyone's else thoughts on this and other ways? Also some times I will just put my back up against a wall and do the same thing. Just testing amd seeing how my posturechabits may be from time to time. I'd you are someplace other than home you may use this time to also rest up against a wall while waiting for whatever you may be there for. Something, I may even lay on the ground, inside or outside, and see just how natural of a feel it may be to lay flat on the ground from lower belch, upper back and balc of head. Creating a strait line with my whole spine, being in a neutral position.
I did that posture unknowingly cause back then I was scared at looking on what is infront of me and decided to look down instead and it really gives me a lot of neck pain and I'm glad you guys posted these so that I can regain my normal posture again. Thanks!
This is the best video addressing head, neck and shoulder posture I've come across. I've been doing this every chance I get for a week now, and no longer lean forward, but auto focus on my upper body posture. I can hear a click in the back of my neck every time I go back into an upright position, and the same happened today when I did the 'W' for my shoulders. It almost felt like a knot and been unlocked. There's less tension, and my lymph system has improved too, so thank you for this 👍🏼

i Have watched more than 30 videos on Neck issues And read more than 20 articles on this..This is the best, practical N informative video i have seen. This video was able to explain points of issues according to a person having forward head posture where as majority of RUclips videos, doesn't discuss these issues as they are unaware of it. This guy shows excersse slowly N with different angles covering all possible incorrect way a forward head posture person could do.
I have found doing these great exercises with my head and shoulders (and hips, too, but i have to stand with my feet about a foot from the wall to get there) against the wall helps prevent me from moving my head into the forward position when i'm moving. Thank you for these!!
These are fantastic exercises that I’m excited to get started with. I definitely suffer from severe head forward / rounded shoulders. This was the result of being afflicted with Ankylosing Spondylitis in my early teens that went undiagnosed for almost 15 years. There weren’t many computer screens and certainly not cell phones back then so this condition (head forward) can be caused by other factors. Thanks for this, I’m very much hoping it can help me get somewhat back to a normal posture.
Thank you sir! Im 15 and i was struggling with depression since i was 13 to the point i had to be homeschooled, and my posture got worse due to online school i guess, i donnt have motivation to exercise a lot, ive went to a physical therapist and got some exercises, hopefully youtube videos and the exercuses will help!
These are great. I found that after doing them for two days my body naturally wanted to move into a more neutral position when my head started going forwards. So with regular practice the good posture should become more of the norm. I did find that after the exercises, doing some gentle forward bends helped so stretch out the back muscles after being worked. Thanks so much.
Terrific! I didn't even know I could use these exercises but doing them I see I need them. Immediately after finishing YWLT, I felt refreshed and relaxed. Thank you for this - so helpful, so beneficial!
This is amazing I was complaining about my neck to my daughter and why it feels like it is falling down and I can’t keep it up!!! Thank you so much for showing this video Can’t wait to try it!!🙂
Oh, thank you, thank you. About 2 years ago, I was diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis, vertebral deterioration, and calcium deposits mostly centered C2 - C5. I was showing significant forward head posture and was experiencing reduced range of motion (particularly "looking over my shoulder" and looking upwards) and feeling sharp pain during head movement. My orthopedist suggested the MacKenzie Method book and recommended that I follow those exercises. I found them to be helpful but it always seemed that they weren't quite enough for my condition - like it was treating the symptoms but not the cause. I did experience an improved range of motion and reduction of pain but it never felt as if my underlying problem was getting better. Having done these exercises a few times a day for three days my posture is much more aligned, my range of motion in my neck in all directions is improved, and both resting discomfort and pain at the limit of motion has been greatly reduced. It feels as if my head has become 8 pounds lighter! I'm going to continue these exercises with great confidence that they will continue to make my neck, head, and spine feel better.
Was telling my son via text about my bulge in my neck. You video came up, for once i was pleased my phone was watching me. I did the chin movement and the pain relieved. bro if you're not doing it exactly how hes saying you'll just cause yourself scapula winging, not cool. just make sure you use more control than strength ;p
if it helps comment here again. also don’t worry bro i’m got the same problem
Please update if you ever get the chance, I am in the same situation as you and need some confidence
Same here
I have been using this video and doing the exercises.
They are helping, so shared it with a friend. Thanks Dr. Oliver. Appreciate your help!
Did you see the visible results??
Dr. Oliver, your exercise format really worked for me. My second month of doing these exercises and my back has straightened up and my head is holding up on its own. Thank you so much!!
did it actually work? im 17 and my neck goes foward so bad so whenever i walk i look weird and whenever i skate it looks like im bending
It's intimidating to attempt to fix decades of looking down and hunching in, but this gives me real tools that feel good to try - and you're not charging for this or trying to sell anything, which I really respect and appreciate. Thank you!
You can do it!
I've been in a forward head posture so long I actually feel my airways restrict when I force my head into a normal position.
I have never related to something so much before😂
Same what the fuck ?
Lmao same, it’s gotten better the more I’ve forced my head into the right position lol
@@smags1100 i feel the same too , i thought i am the only one
Yes, me too. I can manipulate the esophagus and stuff in the neck with my hands gently to help. For me it comes from eating improperly (pigging out...)
I've been suffering for years trying to find ways to get my body in a good shape and this video helped me so much
Just wow. I've had relentless upper back pain for years and these exercises just gave me immediate relief. Thank you so much for this well-done video.
Same I broke both my legs and have been walking on knee stumps for years but immediately upon incorporating these exercises everything is better
Thank you. My head is so far forward that I feel like a turtle.
A GM idk why this comment made me laugh so hard
Do exercises these help
Do you have bad neck pain
😂

I started watching this video 4 months ago and i have been doing these exercises for almost everyday my posture has changed in a good way thank you

So glad for you! I pray the same for me. I also began physical therapy.
@@curtischildress9580 hey bro any changes ?
Thank you. It's brilliant. I have been suffering a neck and upper back pain for ages....I feel like something is shifting there (even from the 1st time I followed the exercises with you). Thank you so much.
The most professional and detailed video I have watched ever.
Thanks!
This is wonderful! I will add these to my husband's covid workouts and share this on Facebook and with all my friends in our retirement community, including husband's trainer at the gym and the senior dancers in my "gentle ballet" class. Thank you!
I can guess ur above40 right
I was in a lot of pain. My upper neck, head and lower neck. These exercises have helped me tremendously. Thank you!
Those were incredibly effective exercises. Can't believe from that little bit of stretch, how much better my neck and shoulders feel. Thank you
This video and these exercises changed my life. I'm so grateful and can't thank you enough.
You're so welcome!
Ngl I've bad posture and doing these exercises really does help.... not overnight as he says but it deffo does something
how much time did it pass before you started seeing results/fully recovered? Also did you have scoliosis and fwd neck as well?
@@kojotot3173 did u do It ? Did It work?
Thank you for showing us these amazing exercises. After going more than a year to a PT to treat all the problems that you have mentioned, and with no improvement at all, I found out that this three exercises are helping me to reduces the pain that I often feel when standing or seating. Again, thank you!
Omg, that must have been a not-very-good PT.
Chin tuck is like PT 101. I think its a pre requisite to walking in.. . Lol
If my chiropractor had told me this on the first visit I would have saved 23 visits. He wanted me to go 2x week for a year. After 3 months I said so long. The only thing that changed was my wallet.
Thank you for posting this. It is so helpful!
Get a massage , i do self chiropractor work on myself often and realize some is necessary depending on how bad your posture is and I'd recommend a massage for releasing tension around the upper body and neck
Most chiros seem mainly interested in lightening the load on your wallet. This guy's video is Fantastic, a true gift.
Yo SAME here!
this so really amazing. Ive been teaching yoga for a few years now and I really enjoy the sequence. This a great way to learn your range of motion and to see on others. Super helpful!
Thank you so much 😊 as a PT instructor of old school i can say your so right and love the information but especially good with the teaching points xxx thank you, and will send you out to my massage clients.
Glad it's helpful!
Wonderful --and an update to this series as previously practiced. I'm 76 --great stuff! Will pass along to my yogacise students. THANK YOU, Be Well-Being.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you🙏
I did that posture unknowingly cause back then I was scared at looking on what is infront of me and decided to look down instead and it really gives me a lot of neck pain and I'm glad you guys posted these so that I can regain my normal posture again. Thanks!
This is great for me since I’ve started summer break. I can finally work on my physical and mental self without having to worry about school.
There's less tension, and my lymph system has improved too, so thank you for this 👍🏼
Great to hear!
Oh my goodness!! THIS VIDEO JUST CHANGED EVERYTHING FOR ME!! I fractured my neck in 2006 when I was 13 and it really has taken its' toll... I am currently 29 and I just tried ALL of these and I must say, I JUST GOT IMMEDIATE RELIEF FROM DOING THESE EXCERCISES FOR JUST 5 MINUTES!! WHY WERENT DOCTORS EDUCATING ME LIKE THIS??? I GOT GOOSE BUMPS. THATS MUCH THIS JUST HELPED ME!!
That's great to hear!
what a great exercise even the deep breathing made me feel better we tend to stop breathing when we hunched over iPhones and forget to breathe plus my shoulder already feels better it seemed when I wasn't sitting correctly and you say the shoulders hunched over actually cause pain in my shoulders now I'm going to practice this exercise I'm so glad I found you God bless you for your great work helping those we need to know
Gabrielle Budd , those IPhones can be a pain in the neck , so maybe one can try let’s say aa android to help solve the problem ?
I always say that yoga changed my life but mostly because it makes me breath right for 60 minutes.. lol you should try some gentle yoga. Even just 10-15 minutes of deep breaths makes you feel so good. Just thought I’d share.. :)
@@adammccann1360 She talks like that too; doesn't stop for a breath. Nor does she let anyone else say anything either!
If iPhones what caused the pain then try Samsung 😅🙃🤪
*doesn't stop for a breath*
Sup ;)
Instantly felt much better after trying this and will definitely continue to do this daily. Thanks.
Keep it up!
I learned that first 'chin tuck' exercise back in the 1990's doing a Charlene Prickett workout. She always shared quality healthful, information during her workouts - not all the jibber jabber you get with workouts now. Great video! This is a keeper
i Have watched more than 30 videos on Neck issues And read more than 20 articles on this..This is the best, practical N informative video i have seen. This video was able to explain points of issues according to a person having forward head posture where as majority of RUclips videos, doesn't discuss these issues as they are unaware of it. This guy shows excersse slowly N with different angles covering all possible incorrect way a forward head posture person could do.
Doc, thank you. I feel like I’ve watched hundreds of these neck shoulder posture videos on RUclips and this one seems to make the most sense for me.
I have found doing these great exercises with my head and shoulders (and hips, too, but i have to stand with my feet about a foot from the wall to get there) against the wall helps prevent me from moving my head into the forward position when i'm moving. Thank you for these!!
Can't tell you how well these have worked for me. Thanks tons!😀
Glad they worked for you!
I'm in the same situation 😭 good luck bro we got this 🙏🙏
These are great.
Agree with your coment..similar case with me
Thank you
How's your posture now??
Wow, I was able to get shoulder, neck, upper back relief with all 3 of these exercises- thanks for this super valuable info-
This is amazing I was complaining about my neck to my daughter and why it feels like it is falling down and I can’t keep it up!!! Thank you so much for showing this video Can’t wait to try it!!🙂
Me too! By the end of the day I'm pushing my head up with my hand, and I'm hurtin' for certain.
I did the rest of your exercises and realised how unfit I’ve become.
Now subscribed, a new avid admirer, soon to be a fitter admirer
Thank you 🙏
Thank you so much for this "simple" exercise, i did them along with you in the video and i instantly feel better.
Thanks so much for sharing these simple exercises. After years of seeing various chiropractors which have only marginally helped my headaches, I feel so much better now. I am really grateful to you!
It's really very effective, easy and nice. My posture is now becoming correct day by day
Seriously
I'm so glad you kept saying ''relax your shoulders, put your head in a neutral position'' because I stopped doing those immediately
Great exercises!!! - I am an occupational therapist and I see the rounded head/neck posture all the time in the geriatric population.
Being six foot seven and doing normal human tasks makes me lean forward a lot everything is made small! I can definitely say these help this man saved my spine
This is brilliant. This group of stretches has helped me immensely with back and shoulder issues. Well explained and will demonstrated. Many many thanks.
Thank you , Dr.Oliver! I was able to release a lot of tension in just one session.I will be doing these every day. Very valuable information.
How 's results now
I'll be starting these exercises tomorrow, thank you so much for the video! I'll update in a month to see how I'm feeling. I have chronic neck and back pain from bad posture.
I am so thankful I watched this video!! I have been having neck/shoulder discomfort for many years & it's amazing how quickly these stretches/exercises started helping me!! Thank you!
Even as a Physical Therapist myself, I have my share of poor posture too at work especially when doing these reports. Lots of typing and writing. However, one thing really that reminds me to correct myself is seeing videos like this. Everytime I educate people, reminds me as well to do what I preach. Thanks to you. :-)
I fell very good after doing it. Great stretch, relieving and relaxing 👌🏽
I can't believe how good this feels!! I didn't even know I had this problem. Thank you!!
most people have no idea they have a FHP and it can take years to correct permanently but these exercises are great to get you moving in the right direction.
I just learned today that this exercise is good for cervical spondylosis while looking for information for my C4, C5, and C6. Thanks a lot for helping us get healthier.
We're happy to help!
I find your channel about a half year ago. I started to do all the exersice it it regarding to me and been taken your advice and IT WAS SOOOOOO GOOD
You don't know how much this helped. Thank you so much.
Excellent and so helpful. This is a perfectly concise and helpful video, no fuss or malarkey. You get right to it and are credible. I will practice these. Thanks on behalf of my spine.
I did all the excersises he told me about and now I'm in some heavy back pain. This is gonna take ages to help me straighten it out but it's worth it i feel like. I also started to fell the pain he was talking about exactly when he said so. Guy knows what he's talking about
Did it once and already feels better. Subbed and watching more! Thanks.🙏🏾
Awesome! Thank you!
I don't know about posture, but these exercises *totally* fixed my "unfixable" tennis elbow, in the space of about two weeks. Just passing this on, it may work for you. Dr Oliver, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Great to hear!

Thank you. Great results 1st time. The stretches felt great. Several times a day easy enough to do. Thanks again Doc.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I wish you continued good health!
I'm very good with watching my posture, but I'll keep doing the YWLT (singing "YMCA" in my head) because it just feels great in general! Thanks!
I am doing this daily and the YWLT exercise is amazing..helps to keep my back straight .Also gives a nice feeling
Thanks for making this. My brother just told me I have this and now I know how to fix it. Keep up the great work.
