No matter where you travel, it's essential to stay cautious and vigilant, and building connections with locals is key. Nepal stands out as one of the safest countries worldwide for tourists, yet it's incumbent upon us to prioritize our safety. Engage with the local community, seek assistance when needed; while most people are welcoming, there might be an exception who could disrupt your experience. Personally, I've found Nepal to be a haven, feeling safer there than anywhere else.
As an Nepali, I'm really sorry for the incident. You are spot on about the safety aspect. even as an Nepali I don't feel completely safe walking the streets at night in Thamel. Anyway, I respect you for the respect you provided for our culture. Lots of love from Nepal💗
I guess, she was feeling unsafe while a beggar was leaning on her friend and trying to check their things out. As we all know, where this beggars comes from. We need to stop those tourist/beggars coming from our neighborhood countries. they are just ruining Nepal's reputations and image.

This is a very honest review! Being a Nepali by birth and now living in New Zealand for my career, I feel quite an interesting review from a tourist perspective. It just reminds me of my time and my visit back although not as a tourist like you but as a local. Drinking from tap water, shopping things, transportation and other which you were critical of are actually true. Keep up the good work. Honest review is an important aspect of Nepal Tourism.
As stated in a lonely planet from 2004 (my first visit) the only thing people think about when leaving Nepal…is when to visit again 😂😂😂 (so I did in 2011 and plan to visit again this year hopefully)
Thank you this has been so helpful and given us so many amazing tips for upcoming trip to Nepal next month!! 😃 Loved this series, can't wait for the next one♥

Even though Nepal is a foreign country as an Indian I never felt Nepal as a foreign country. The youth speak very good English and Hindi there. There is a place in India called Mizoram which feels like a foreign country. The youth there speak Mizo and basic English. Their English is slightly better than Thai. There is no honking and lane jumping in Mizoram and people stop the car for pedestrians. I also love Nepalese and Mizo music. I have following playlists 1) 175 Nepalese rock songs 2) 460 Mizo songs 3) 25 Mizo Artists, 25 Mizo songs 4) Mizo Top 75

here's the thing about bargaining, Rs 100 is less than a dollar, but you can have a real meal in Nepal, so really think about how much you want to bargain. ($1=~130NRS, you can get a decent plate of momo for that). With taxis, I agree they can be a ripoff, bargain all you want, but in local shops and street shops, try to not haggle and bother shopkeepers, is what I would suggest.
Unfortunately samosa and pani puri aren't Nepalese. Its like going to China and saying I loved spaghetti and pizza there. Or going to Australia and saying I loved the butter chicken and dumplings.
8:11 That might be an Indian. They come here to work, beg, and do such cheap work. I'm really sorry for that. Otherwise, even during break, you will be safe enough ..hope to see you again ❤❤

You covered many thing and 11 hours journey was still hectic. Being from Nepal, once i had to go Pokhara from kathmandau and took me 10 hours. If we compare the distance then it's just 200 km apart which shouldn't take more than 5 hours and extra one hour for breakfast and lunch.

What pisses me off is Ryleigh is that those beggars are not Nepali. They are professional beggars from Bihar, India who come in vans and trucks and get dumped on strategic locations. I am sure they have whole corporate thing going on with bosses and what not. .
