Michel Alba starts out playing barely any ghost notes, then increasing and pulling back again, just like Jeff did on the original recording. Truly an awesome cover that shows a deep understanding of the song.

As hard as this shuffle is to play at that tempo, the perfect placement of the kick drum is the magic of this groove, and what would send it all to hell if it weren’t spot on the money. I haven’t played around with this song in a long time....this gave me the inspiration to revisit it. Great job.
I've played this groove before,...it's not easy. It took me hours of practice to get smooth with it. There's a kind of swing lope to it that jeff does, but once I got comfortable with it, it's just fun to play. I haven't played drums in 7 yrs. But this is one of those grooves that I played a lot that I think it wouldn't take me long to get back on it. This is probably the best RUclips version of this groove on youtube. When Jeff played live, he'd change the fills up a bit.
So much control, pocket, maturity, technique. There’s a lot of young drummers out there that don’t understand that this is an actual example of what real drumming is. Self-taught drumming only gets you so far. This is what drumming sounds like with traditional training.
I would like to wholly disagree with your opinion on self taught drumming. Some of the greatest drummers ever are self taught. At the end of the day, lessons are just a tool to improve, like all of the other tools people use to improve.
