Mismo tlga si Sir Michael Alba, swerte kayong mga new generation drummers ngaun, nung araw wala pang masyadong internet maraming pinaiyak na drummer tong pyesa nato, ngaun tinuturo na sa inyo note for note....
Excellent performance and a concise explanation of the notation. One very important element in playing ghost notes is dynamics and when to use them. They're called ghost notes for a reason; just there to add some color and motion to the groove. Many drummers, especially those who first learn how to groove with ghosts, overuse or play them too loud, which can "step on" the other instruments in the song. Mr. Alba didn't mention this, but in his playing, the ghost notes are at varying levels. which keeps his performance interesting; Dynamics! For those who don't know, this rhythmic pattern was invented by Bernard "Pretty" Purdie, called the Purdie Shuffle.
Great break down of ghost notes. You seem to have established as effortless muscle memory of this rhythm as possible. Your ability to stop & reengage its different components mid-groove is astonishing.
Ayun pala yung di ko nakukuha ang maging aware after ng 2 may ghost notes na kasunod tsaka sa 4, now I know. I need to practice it. Great Explanation po from Sir Michael Alba. Salamat sa nagupload
Sa wakas ! Galing magturo ni sir alba. Sana na meet ko po kayo sa personal.. os iknow how to start practicing that half time shuffle .. laking tulong.Godbless!
All i wanna do when i wake up in the morning is see your eyes. ROSANA! I recommend to watch the Live version of Rosana ng SIDE A Band, mapapaWOW kana lang talaga hahahaha
He takes a different approach to counting out the triplet.... if you watch many of lessons they key on the two beats played on the high hat.... That's because most of the snare drum and bass drum loads are played on those beats... And maybe he's you the first learn those beats and then then work ghost notes in later.... Rather than learn this triplet pattern on the way it is here and then try to figure out how to work in the rest of it kind of buying tuition.... But this is definitely useful lesson. Especially in combination with all the others
Finally found a video where someone demonstrates a proper way to count this at speed...but how do you even count that fast? My tongue gets as twisted as my hands trying to say it as when I try and play it

This is the best explanation of this epic shuffle
It's a good explanation but he plays it with a heavy light Latin accent and way too fast....it's hard to play slow and dtrsing and still flow.
@@neworleansbeats Hes playing at the tempo thats required for the song.
No it's not.
Learning this groove and practicing it often will change your drumming forever...
That is absolutely one of the best half time shuffles I've heard.
This dude is the all time expert on Rosanna.
Toto should hire him, then go on tour with Journey.
