- Watch her arrival on July 20th 2019,, having dropped off the passengers for a day out in Cardiff. Passing through the shed she then collects more coal and water before departing to the triangle at Maindee to then round for the return run the Crewe. Close up inside the shed gives us the feeling of her size, from ground level!
The class 47 D1944 run round the train to be on the rear. Thanks to the team at Canton for access and assistance
And to think that some 60 odd years ago, 297 doomed steam locomotives passed through Canton on their way to Woodhams Brothers, a few miles down the track in Barry. That 213 were subsequently rescued is a testament to the preservationists and the deep, engrained love Britain holds for its steam heritage. Great video...
Whenever I see Britannia’s shed code I always think it should be 30A Stratford which she wore when she was first allocated to the Eastern Region . She really is a beautifully turned out loco . These videos showing us what goes on behind the scenes are fascinating . Excellent production .
Some of the best footage of 70000 I've seen. Thanks
The bloke on the firemans side looking out with a red hat 21.44 on how the railway has changed since I was a driver you was never aloud anything red on the footplate red was allways taken a danger !! but a really nice video
Gorgeous old chuffer. Takes me back a bit. Used to run Britannia on my Hornby Dublo as a lad. Great footage!
Some variety for Canton's maintenance staff. I bet all the cameras were out!
We happened to have been on this very excursion down from Crewe. The whole event was absolutely brilliant, fantastic service, wonderful scenery all in all a very polished event. Really pleased you posted this as we wondered what would be happening during our four hours in the city. Excellent publication, thank you.
Great footage but bloody annoying sirens.
Absolutley amazing coverage of 7000 Britannia being serviced :-)
….. and to think that nowhere in Britain today could build a steam loco like that any more.
