I'm always worried about being assertive and confident because I don't want to come across as rude. I don't know whether I should keep being shy or risk losing friends!
I hate being this way.. I have anxiety and I struggle to talk to people really bad.. I can't keep eye contact. I look at the ground when I look I talk to people.. It's the worst talking to people I don't know well or people I barely talk to! I'm fine at home loud, confident and well able to talk and ask for things because I was born into my family and I know them my whole life so obviously I'm gonna be confident around them.. But when I'm in school it's the worst I can't start a conversation I don't know what to talk about and I feel like people don't want to talk to me I really really really need help I actually hate school becaus I'm so shy and not able to talk in class or make friends with people I know years.. I'm leaving school in May and I can't wait because school is torture!! When I leave I think I'll be a lot happier but still I'm not able to do interviews or anything without being awkward and shy and quiet I hate it!! How am I supposed to get into college or anything or get along with people make new friends etc if I can't speak :'( :'( I think about it all the time and I get really upset about it :(
Thoughts become things Andrea. You need to be in control of your thoughts and the way in which you perceive yourself in terms of "value." Ask yourself this; "what do I love/respect about me?" The answers to this question will immediately give your confidence level a slight boost if not higher. Next, ask your relatives what they REALLY think of you and find out if they "miss you" when you're not around and "WHY?" This is almost identical to carrying out some market research - but instead of researching for a product, your research is about YOU instead. Try to take your "observations" seriously, they'll act like a mirror-image or reflection. Meditation is something which will develop you naturally, so if you're new to this then please give it a try. Meditation changed many areas of my life over the years - more importantly it changed me. Now I am able to help and support others in their own life-challenges - not just myself :) Feel free to visit my channel as I believe that my videos will help you in many ways. Believe in yourself Andrea, otherwise "nobody else will have reason to believe in you." Ask me any questions and I will be happy to answer them to my best ability - ok. You WILL be successful, dignified and mentally strong as soon as you divorce your insecurities, but first one step at a time. Remember, it starts with how much you value yourself - others will take their "cue" from this. Take care.
Chloe Peacock Hey hey hey he was just trying to help this person out! He meant no harm alright? Who knows if his words didnt help? What if it DID help her out? No harm in helping a person out:)
I'm extremely shy and I found a lot off them I don't feel I could do, and once a girl was pulling my fringe back and I feel uncomfortable with it back and I asked her nicely if she could maybe stop it and I pulled my fringe down and she got angry and threw the bobble she wanted to tie my hair up with (I also don't like my hair back) and lots of confident people treat me like a baby and they do stuff like skip me in line, push me, steal my pencils and take !y food and stuff... Yeah I need a lot of help in my confidence...
To be honest, there will come a day if you don't start working on it now where you will get too fed up and snap and no one wants that so the best thing is to remember you are also a human and deserve just as much as the next person and no one is as on your side as you are so you need to be your own fighter/cheerleader or what ever to get what you want because everyone is already too busy backing themselves up. (P.s. don't let any basic think she can touch you like that, it is your body. Next time she does it tell her to back tf up or you'll punch her and set it up like it was self defence and make sure she sees you smiling when she gets punished.)
I absolutely hate it when people talk about me in different languages that I don't understand behind my back! My parents and friends always judge me on how I always look down, I try to get my back straight and my face up but the sun always shines in my eyes and I just can't help it! But I'm working on it.. and it's becoming better! I'm starting to participate more but I still need to socialize more, which I think I'm improving a lot on. ^^
When I'm trying to be myself, I never have someone talk to me. I have to be drawing or something for people to talk to me... It's sad how I'm judged like that and I want more friends.. I just don't have the guts to say hi to a random person.. I don't wanna be quiet anymore..
At least you do have a few friends who'd listen to you, right? why don't you start with them? a friend of mine told me to open up myself a little bit and gradually making friends this way. I know you're shy and I'm having a similar issue, but again you have to open up!
+rabbit54446 AJ Well you don't just high-five them like out of nowhere. What is exactly the situation you are facing rn? I can't tell a lot from your comment ._.
+Hanif Siraj It's like I just don't fit in with anyone and all the white girls (no racism) just stare at me and stuff and they don't talk to me and I'm pretty sure they talk behind my back but yeah, I just really don't fit in
Based in this video then in theory if I would ask a girl out I whould then rather say "I would like us to do something" than "would you like to do something with me", or am I completly wrong?
Whoever suggested this video is a genius. I'm so shy lol... at least 1) around real-life strangers and 2) in class. And, if I know you well, then I'll turn into this weirdo from outer space.
TheSharinganDragoon lock the bathroom door and say 'WASH YOUR HANDS OR UR NOT GETTING OUT OF THE BATHROOM' works every time, if they still didn't wash their hands...i can still wait ^_^
IKR? My voice seriously sounds like a toddler even though I'm a teen. I can whisper or shout; there isn't really any middle ground, so people always have to ask me to speak up.
It's so hard for me. ever since i was little, i was always shy and hiding away from everything. I thought that moving onto high school would change that and I would become more confident. guess i was wrong because its still just as bad. i feel like everyone is looking down on everything i do and say then at the end of the day, i always find myself feeling so embarrassed to the point where it just hurts and i wanna pull my hair out. i dont even want to go out anymore with friends because i dont feel like myself anymore. i cant wait to graduate soon. im sick of going to a school full of people im totally uncomfortable around
Watch a ted talks video that talks about body language and how it shapes our behavior. Its some blonde lady I forgot her name but it's going to help you. She also talks about controlling anxiety when giving a speech.
When i was in elementary i dont have any confidence in myself. even if i've been with the same person over the past 5 years in class, i still dont have the confidence. when my teacher call my name for participation, i'll tremble to death even though i know the answer. All of this disappear when i enter Grade 8 and at that time, my vision got blurry where i have to put glasses so instead of putting it, i did not. because the benefits of having a blur vision is you can't see their reaction and that helps me big time
When I was young, I guess you could say that my dad "taught" me that my opinions weren't worth anything. That I could make my own choices in life and always had to rely on others. I couldn't be the leader of anything since all my opinions and choices were wrong. Not only have these videos helped, but they helped me find real friends that made me realise that I AM important. That my opinions ARE worth something. And that's all thanks to these videos. Thank you, Wellcast. Signed,a girl from Sweden
Sorry to hear that! Ideally, we can all become accepting of each other's differences-introvert or extrovert, gay or straight-that is the whole message of Wellcast. We have a video on maintaining friendships that might help you, but ultimately, you can't control others' actions. You are probably better off making friends with people who can love you for who you are and who you become!
AWWW!!! We have a video on asking out your crush, but it sounds like maybe you two need to put in some time getting to know each other first, perhaps going for coffee or doing some homework together?
This is like my birthday and Christmas wrapped up in one. Thank you soooooo much! I've struggled like crazy with all these things to the extent that I've given up on trying and let people do almost whatever they want without complaint. It's been so hard for me to find a balance of confident and humble, and assertive and courteous. This should really help. Thank you all!!!!!
..not easy if you've been raised by bullies. Best to know the traits of the type 1 sociopath. You probably have one in your life right now. When you can identify the traits, then you become more confident, because you will be able to recognize when someone is playing with your mind or trying to intimate you. They will know you more than you know yourself and they prey on people who have no confidence. When you know the traits of the type 1 sociopath, you will become so confident and empowered! At first you may have to go through an angry stage while you process this information that seems to be hidden from us- but then you become stronger, more confident, and assertive! Great video!
Is this true though? I went through a kind of angry patch and I can say I'm definitely more confident and mature now but I feel bitter and aggressive. It just makes me feel down that I cant see other people as other than threats.
Because that makes you hot by many standards and everyone will want you and to be wanted is to be empowered. Hence why more attractive people live more fulfilling lives and are more emotionally stable. Broke up with your boyfriend recently? No big deal if you're hot you'll forget about him in a matter of days or hours especially if you've got thousands of dudes hitting on you on facebook.
I used to be unassertive when I was in Jr.Highschool, I got accused of lots of things, and the teachers would never side with me. Even something ridiculous. One time I had something bothering my eye, and instead of picking it out, I tried just rolling my eyes up while closing them to remove the irritation. It was working, but it took a while. What happened? A boy went to the counselor and accused me of flirting at him with my eyes, which people bullied me often. What did the counselor do? Accuse me of doing it, and told me not to flirt with boys. No matter what I said, didn't matter. In fact, I rolled my eyes like I did before because my eye was bothering me, and the counselor accused me of flirting with HER. It was so stupid. Can you account for that as lack of assertiveness, or unfortunate events?
unassertive behaviour. It happened to me back in school. I was so nervous I started cracking my fingers during an exam and avoiding the teacher's loo, I was horribly shy and unassertive, the teacher thought I was about to cheat and send me to the principal. I swore to them I wasn't trying to cheat, but none believed me. Later on, I learnt assertiveness, it took me a lot of time and practice but things have gotten much better since then. Good luck, fake it to make it, you're great, don't forget that !
Neither; It's a lack of common sense in the people accusing you. Like, really, who flirts with someone by rolling their eyes? Wouldn't they make it more obvious? Wouldn't they know that the person they are flirting with is not gay and likely homophobic? Shouldn't a reasonable person know this?
It’s as easy as this : Say what you mean and mean what you say , just don’t say it mean. - why care about what people think of you ? They don’t even know what to thing of themselves lol --> and honestly people will RESPECT you more if your honest and direct with them, even if they don’t like your answer , they will respect you more in the future and more IMPORTANT you will Respect yourself:)
We have a video on bullying that focuses more on the victims of bullying of course, but that will probably be enlightening if you think you might need some tips on managing relationships!
This is a tricky situation and we've all been there, perhaps one we'll cover in the future! You can be honest with someone and tell them something they need to hear without being a jerk about it.
thanks mom for the sandwich.... ewww, this tastes like s**t!! its disgusting!! go make me another one!!!.... finally ill be able to be direct and honest, thank u wellcast :D
YOUR SO FUNNY I WATCH YOUR VIDS WVEN WHEN I DONT NEED THEM LOL CAN U TELL ME WHY sorry cap lock omg lol but can u tell me why animals cant talk !?!?!? ps love yours vids and I subscribed your channel (:
You know, when you're "assertive" people get all butthurt n then be like "Oh my god!!11 DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO" n then I'm just here like "lmao who do u think u r???".I wonder how to deal people like that, honestly.Like seriously, everywhere I go I always hear that like "OMGGG *whining*".Its so childish.
DO NOT FLAG AS SPAM,im good at cracking a joke in class, (example, say if my friend said to the whole class that there was a man with a voice like a girl i would say "is it miley cyrus?" to get the class laughing and my crush especially) but when it comes to girls, i panic and act weird and run away which makes the girl not like me and think im a jerk:(
If you keep calling yourself ugly you will think you are ugly, this goes by the consistency principle ( In psychology it is the desire to be consistent, in attitudes and beliefs) it happens to all people, if you keep saying your ugly, you WILL believe you are ugly, so stop calling yourself ugly ad don't compare yourself to others
My mom ALWAYS says "you" and NEVER "I" when she complains about me not doing something (which makes me mad at her and causes me to procrastinate and not do even more things)!!! Geeze, no wonder people end up hating their parents... They're always super critical to YOU and make YOU feel REALLY FRIGGIN ANNOYED AT THEM!!!
My kind of behavior: Relative: Do you want this last slice of pizza? Me: N-No. My Mind: You want it, you know you want it. Relative: Take it! Me: Oh okay... I seriously love my pushy relatives
I ordered a kale salad, then sent it back saying I ordered a cheeseburger just to be more confident
😄

+noemi esther garcia argudo Putting off important things until the exact last possible minute before the dead line to do it.
The ironic thing is I just came here from the "How To Stop Procrastinating" video, and I am currently procrastinating.
Just roaming RUclips ignoring my urgent problem of procrastination.
IheartMagikarp omg! me too. lol!!!!
IheartMagikarp I literally am doing the same thing

When in public you probably won't ever see 95% of people there again so there's no reason to be shy

That doesn’t mean that you have to dress like a furry while walking down the street.
Absolutely true!

I swore to them I wasn't trying to cheat, but none believed me. Later on, I learnt assertiveness, it took me a lot of time and practice but things have gotten much better since then. Good luck, fake it to make it, you're great, don't forget that !
tina7077 teacher's look* I meant.
LOL ITS THE ZELDA TRIFOLD YEA
Typo sorry
It’s 3am and I’m watching this video
Did anyone hear people laughing in the background? 2:34
Yeah
omg yea creepy
Part of the script.
Triforce on the shield, yay!!!
Are you Sadie from Steven Universe?
Here's an idea: just make it yourself.
I love your contents
It’s as easy as this :
Say what you mean and mean what you say , just don’t say it mean.
- why care about what people think of you ? They don’t even know what to thing of themselves lol
--> and honestly people will RESPECT you more if your honest and direct with them, even if they don’t like your answer , they will respect you more in the future and more IMPORTANT you will Respect yourself:)
It's Always Funny in Philadelphia

We have a video on bullying that focuses more on the victims of bullying of course, but that will probably be enlightening if you think you might need some tips on managing relationships!
This is a tricky situation and we've all been there, perhaps one we'll cover in the future! You can be honest with someone and tell them something they need to hear without being a jerk about it.
Can u do how to tell a boy u like him
I ORDERED A CHEESEBURGER!!! =))
I can be assertive and direct when I'm feeling confident and my anxiety isn't acting up.
We got you covered! We have a video on Coming Out and how to support your friend if they're LGBT!
what was that laugh at 2:34????:0
This is the cutest video ever!

"You never do the dishes. There is a pile of them in the sink right now and it's old enough to be carbon dated." BHAHAHAHA :P Good one!

I love your advice
That would be VERY embarrassing if someone yelled at you in the bathroom that your dident wash our hands.

To be honest and direct; her voice is annoying... Woo hoo, I'm confident!
Well done !
I like your honesty, her voice sounds as if she is having an orgasam every 5 mins !
She sounds like a sports announcer or a lesbian.
I was not sure if I really heard someone laughing and I went down to the comments to make it sure it was on the video and not on my mind :P
My kind of behavior:
Relative: Do you want this last slice of pizza?
Me: N-No.
My Mind: You want it, you know you want it.
Relative: Take it!
Me: Oh okay...
I seriously love my pushy relatives
Can I break my partner’s silent treatments????! I want that gone FOREVER 🤬. That is one of my main priorities.👍. Being assertive???
I love the recaps at the end, that helps a lot :)
