EZD3 now has Interactive Midi Layout Documents. They're fantastic. Find them in the EZD3 Help Menu. They are not printer friendly, hence why my documents may still have some value to you.
As an accomplished finger drummer, but a newbee to EZD3, your midi map guide was just what I needed to remap certain articulations on the hi hat and cymbals to speed up my workflow. I have been viewing your tutorials and feel that yours are the easiest to understand and implement. Keep it up, you ARE appreciated.
Hi, I'm new to digital recording. Using Studio One 6. But so far have found your videos on EZ Drummer 3 very helpful ! I will be back, please keep up the good work ty !
I have learned more in 30 minutes from this man about ez drummer than I have from everyone else in the last few years. Keep up the great work and thank you! Subscribed and bell rung.
This is unbelievably helpful. They had removed the custom midi mapping when EZD 2 came out. I didn't realize I could do custom mapping to a keyboard using this procedure. keep up the good work!
@@oopavio My Facebook group is growing quickly if you use facebook. Link is in the description. My Discord group hasn't really taken off yet, but that is a place I'm trying to do more technical stuff if you feel like checking it out. Link also in the description. I’ve already saved the jpeg. Thanks! I’d love to have this in some way where I can print it off without all the graphics (e.g. Tom 1 Center = C2, Rimshot = A#4, Rim Only = A4). Food for thought.
Thank for doing these layouts! So cool of you - they look great! I REALLY don't understand why Toontrack doesn't do a better job at this. I used EZD2 for years before realizing they were in there, and even then they weren't so great. As a non drummer it took me while to see how important this info is, and how to start using it. Thanks again - I'm old so I'm off to print these out and start using right away.
Yeah, I'm so old that I'm from the Cretaceous period. I need two pairs of glasses: 1 to read books & 1 to work on computers. I can see clearly your mapping here. Not much more work you need to do on it. As long as you verify the accuracy, this doc is close to final release. Thank you for the work. ;P
Maybe try changing the gray text to a neutral-ish blue text. That might help it pop out from the orange-toned background. Also you might try blurring the parts of the background that are behind the text.
I'm an owner of EZ2 upgraded to EZ3 and SD3 love em , this is really helpful all of your vids have been . are you from NY or Boston area Im in Fl but from NYC you have that familiar articulation (no pun intended) in a good way. thanks for your valuable time .
Thanks for creating this! It’s been annoying me since EZD3 came out that’s there’s no midi map like EZD2. I like to make maps so I can go between EZD and GGD at times.
Great video and very handy thanks. Toontrack say nothing has been taken away from the original EZD but where is the mixer EQ? I have searched and searched but I can't find it anywhere on EZD3
Thank you! To be fare, the EZD2 presets do still have their EQ in EZD3. I haven't really made it this far yet and just zapped through all of the EZD3 presets... you're right, way less options and instances for EQ. The Master Bus EQ knob adds good highend, but only two presets have it. I didn't see one Low/Bass knob anywhere.
Maybe you could consider making an interactive pdf. So when hovering over an instrument the info appears. In Indesign this is relatively easy to (let it) set up.
So Toontrack did update this stuff in the help menu of EZ. But I am curious about an interactive .pdf. Can you link me to one so I can see it's capability?
Your midi chart is very cool - Printed it cuz I'm an old guy..lol.. Do you know if there is a way to import an analog drum mic track (Snare /Kick/etc) into a midi file or just import it nto the grid of EZ drummer 3?
There's a Hi Hat typo. But if you use the Download Link for these Midi Layout Guides it has been corrected. Midi Layout Document (zip file high res): drive.google.com/file/d/1vWlcK_os70g2oLGMysProQwMlLukzTQp/view

I need to spend more time slamming out beats using my midi controller. I have an Alesis VI49 that has a 16-pad interface on the side, but I’ve mostly been grabbing drum parts as I need them. I like the map and that’s definitely going on my wall!
Heck yeah! You know instead of tapping out beats from scratch, often I might grab a library beat and just overdub a few snare accents for example in the Song Track. A good place to start if you don't do it often. Thank you, Scott!!
is it possible to set articulation based on velocities on EZD3? I mean if you hit your e-drum snare from 0 to 100 it sounds the snare, if you hit from 100 to 120 it sounds the rim... or it must be set from the edrum?
Shawn, you are WAY too modest - "not a super exciting one today" - HA! You should have been able to hear my very loud "WHOAHHH!" though the interwebs when you put that MIDI map up on the screen! You probably just saved me an hour (hours?) as I would have been scouring EZD3 for the MIDI info after plugging in my keyboard. Like, you know, it was in EZD2 so it MUST be somewhere in EZD3 - I just need to look harder (and it was pretty EZ to find in EZD2). What a massive amount of useful info. Check your tip jar! ;)
I have all the EXp and most of the MIDI packs presume the ez midi will be ok but what about the Expansions will you need to download them all again or will you update and will be autoloaded ?
Can someone help me ? I have a Simmons Titan 50 kit that has 3 articulations for hihat pedal: closed, half-open, open. The problem is that when I open the hihat EZdrummer 3 glitches for 2 seconds. It is like it can't deal with the changes in hi-hat articulations. It only happens with the hihat. I have just 4GB of ram so that could be the problem.

There's no trick to it. It's incompatible. We can access the SD midi, that's about it.
