Honestly. Audio engineering started for me with reading about Revolver and Geoff Emerick and so much praise for the Fairchild. I got the uad since native straight away. Felt it should be more than it is. Did a little research but only concluded that none is really offering more. This is exactly what I need. Especially the vocal Eric displayed was tremendous.
Also, I spent the whole summer thinking the world needs a new greatest and really close CS80 emulation. Softube released that just when the summer ended.
Plugins are cool shit that actually change stuff that you actually actively think creates friction in your audio journey.
Now, keep your priorities straight according to your straight. I was born a tone snob and always rank song writing above all else. That actually collerates with being just the Blackmore, Clapton, Page, Gilmour, May, Young Brothers type of monumental music making I and many others love the most.

I think it's $99 at the moment. It does sound good to me, better than the UAD one. Apart from the compression, while is nice and subtle, it colours the sound in a very nice way, add a tiny bit of top-end sparkle and air. While having a lot of low-end. The sound comes a little forward, but the frequency spectrum seems to extend and open up a bit wider too. The UAD sounds a bit pinched by comparison, though does do the compression and sounds clean and clear.

It’s impressive how they’ve managed to simulate the warmth without sacrificing detail. It’s not a full replacement for the real hardware, but for the price, it definitely brings value to the table. Curious to see how it holds up in more detailed comparisons with other emulations.

Do not engage the threshold until you hear a nice warm tube distortion start to come in and then back it off slightly or not.... This works great on drum busses as well. After you have experienced preamps, let the compressor engage only slightly.

Yes would like to see a comparison (and basically listen to the explanation of the DC..), but something that I've been wanting to see someone cover is the Kush Audio Novatron plugin. It's not anything new so maybe it's not interesting for you anymore?? but essentially it's trying to create a FET, VCA and Varimu compressor in which you can choose what type of compressor is doing the attack stage and which does the release stage. Would love to hear your take on it! (And also their other plugins are superb and based on their own hardware line)

10:15 OFF - there is no coherency, sax highs are prominent, each instrument plays separately.
ON - coherency, sax highs are tamed and everything sits in the mix, there is also focus change to ''the left side from the nose''.

I tested the "vari mu" plugins I have and I like the color of the UTA better. The hardware would be great but it is expensive. Having a version of this plugin for 99usd that they just lowered the price is excellent. Maybe not all of us have 10K USD to buy hardware for our studio, but this plugin works for me. A big hug.

Usually the lower interest-free monthly payments are front-loaded by you having to pay a larger initial fee to get the $18 bucks/month or whatever that'll eventually make up the difference.

This compressor blew me away and after seeing and hearing Eric’s passion about getting it right I had to try it out myself, used best on the mix bus and vocals imo … it really does the job of providing an analog sound without taking away the feel of audio like others tend to like UADs, midnightt by Acustica comes close by having a sweet high end but it lacks the power and presence that the unfairchild has

I good way of doing a comparison just so it's a bigger difference in sound so it is also clear to people with cheap speaker setups or headphones would be to have a track with these on a lot of channels and then have one export of this plugin used only and another swapped out and see the difference over many tracks combined... it's the best way to understand the difference in sounds something has.

In the interest of full disclosure, I don't do very well with anybody's Fairchild plug in. I have never finished a mix with a Puigchild in it, same with the UAD Fairchild, the Firechild or any of the other children I've messed with. To my ears they're not so much gluey, as syrupy. This thing definitely has a tone that is independent of compression, but while it doesn't sound real Fairchildy to me, I do like it. But, I dunno, I think I'll just stick with my MJUC.

So it's saying you can pay it in four instalments so if it's $200 then it's £50 per month over 4 months. Or you can pay as little as 17$ a month until it's paid off. Which presumably would take 11 months to pay off. But it's not cheaper

Yes you crazy ; ) and yes, it sounds very good and 'analogue'. I think one of the reasons why it sounds to good is the same reason why your system got a stroke as soon as you upped the oversampling. I guess this plugin uses a lot of processing power, something most plugin developers want to avoid.

4 interest free installments (costing 200/4 = 50 each) or 17,something/mo until its payed, which prolly ends up in 12, so a full year of payments, including interest fee, which would be 15 bucks, so roughly 8% if it was 12 payments.

Using 1 of the 100 highclass highres well-reviewed saturation plugins together with a stock compressor like Logics Platinum (no coloring). Isn't that what a Fairchild does - or do I miss any point here? :)
