    Thank you! Amazing job. Gave me great ideas to keep my little one safe while still experiencing outside. Thank you!

      I did change the bird netting to bug netting as moths laid eggs on the bird netting. Might not be an issue in your area but just a heads up. Good luck and still always supervise them or be within hearing distance if them when on the catio....just in case.

    Thank you for sharing! Moving into an apartment on the 11th floor with a little one who has never lived anywhere but a ground level house. Can’t take any chances, really want something secure and this is perfect!!

      Just a note that I changed the bird netting for bug netting because moths lay eggs on bird netting lol Also, I am always supervising when they are out. I did purchase a catio that I put next to the window that they can use unsupervised but not as cost effective as this one.

    great idea but i bet my cat will just climb till the top and then jump. How did you secure the net on the ceiling?

      If you are concerned, you can also add a wooden catio and put it against a window. They even have mosquito netting that fits over it perfectly so you can keep your window open without bugs entering your apartment. ruclips.net/video/hgp6yD6H1p4/видео.htmlsi=P1FL4qSF6CZ0xpTU

    That's a good idea. Thank you. My problems is that I'm on the top floor so I have nothing above to enclose the top, and it's so hard to find examples of that. I did see one where they extend it up and then curve it inwards. But thanks for this, I might use parts of your idea. Thank you

      Also, my cat is older and not THAT ambitious to try and find a way out, my main concern is him chasing a bird and falling, so maybe extending the netting a few feet above the rail then curving it inwards may work

      I actually updated this catio twice since the video was made. Once to change the bird netting to mosquito netting and then I bought a totally enclosed one so I don't need to monitor them when out. They have amazing catio that you can buy and put on your balcony. You just leave one section open and place it next to the window. You can even add mosquito netting so the window can be open 24/7. Due to the pandemic, the prices have increased but one company that has them on sale sometimes ( when in stock) is this warehouse although aliexpress may have them too at better deals. Good luck www.aosom.ca/item/pawhut-large-wooden-outdoor-cat-enclosure-cage-pet-house~D32-004.html

    I have a question, did the pole withstand the storm? I live in a very windy city, so sometimes it gets very windy. I wonder if I could do a similar construction like yours

    Thank you for the video :) I too, have a balcony and a cat and will enclose my balcony. I would like to kindly say, that there are much better looking options out there. For instance, chicken wire is sturdier and can be fixed to the walls and ceiling with screw hooks. It would be safer and you would not need that trellis, thus your balcony would look more open and airy. Just a suggestion, but thank you again for posting this video 😊

      Thank you for watching. It would be a fire hazard to attach anything permanently so be very careful. My set up takes less then a minute to take down. You can use bug netting instead of bird netting but you want to attach it to poles not the balcony walls. Talk to your building before you do anything like.

    • @jordanxfile

      Yes, I thought about the fire hazard issue. I guess keeping some wire cutter or garden scissors on the balcony would be a good idea in such a case. I am still trying to perfect my idea, so this matter is definitely on my list.

    This is sooo awesome and I am going to do this for my sweet kitty. Thank you for sharing!!! What length did you get the bungee balls?

      R Winston Thank you for watching. I got the 6 inch ones and had to double them at some parts, depending on how wide your balcony rail is. Amazon has them for a good price or ebay.

    Does your cat ever try to jump on the netting? I’ve heard of it tearing and I’m nervous that my cats will tear it and fall 😖

    • @DiscClub6
      @DiscClub6 5 лет назад +4

      Denise Nakamura I had a small closed in porch at my parent’s and yes one of our cats climbed the netting and tore it and we found him in a tree in the yard. Best be safe and have supervised patio time

      Sorry, just saw this. No, they have never tried to jump on it although I did change the bird netting to.bug netting as moths laid eggs on the bird netting. I also always supervise them when out or am within hearing range of them...just in case. I also don't have any objects by the netting they can stand on.

    Is that net strong enough? Can a cat bite it or scratch it? What if the cat decide to jump out, will the net hold it? I really don't wanna use that metal chicken wire if i don't have to.

    • @catnip42007
      @catnip42007  5 лет назад

      To answer your question, this net is not strong enough to hold a cat so it would fall on the cat. You are always supervising so would see it or hear it.
      That being said, I did change the bird netting to bug netting as moths started to lay eggs on the bird netting as well as I heard birds get caught in bird netting so didn't like the thought of trapping a poor bird by mistake. The bug netting could be climbed I guess but again, you are always supervising so would notice if your kitty tried.
      I have had it up for 2 years( almost 3) and only had 1 attempted escape from my lightest in weight cat. She tried jumping up at the corner but I saw her staring at it for 10 minutes before her attempt and stopped her as soon as she tried to jump.
      As long as you are always supervising, it really is an awesome experience for your kitty. They can watch birds and suntan🧡
      If you go to my Facebook page you can see the netting I use now as I just made a few videos of the catio facebook.com/Gizmos-Hotel-Catnip-with-FuzzyButt-Bella-Crystal-and-Crazy-Eddie-248451021866739/

      Ps- Cats can chew the chicken wire so it isn't cat proof as well as it might be deemed a fire safety hazard if you attach it with something like nails or screws. Whatever you use, make sure it is not permanently attached in case of a fire.

      @@catnip42007 Thank you for your answer. I need something that will be safe even if my cat is unsupervised. I guess metal wire is the best solution for me.
