Nikon D500 vs Canon 80D Video Comparison Review
    -
So lets start of this comparison by taking a look t the build quality
when you pic up the nikon d500 you immediately feel just how big it is.
Its actually quite a large camera but not super heavy. It’s got a slightly different shape to it than other nikon cameras but i actually really like it.
Compared to the canon 80d, it definitely is a lot larger, but to me the canon 80d might be a bit more practical for every day use.
Being a little smaller, it really fits in your hand nicely and might be better if you have smaller hands.
Now both cameras have mode dials on the top left up here and on the right, top lcd screens which are always nice.
The nikon also has a dedicated video record button which is nice to see and as you’d expect the 80d also has one, but this time on the back. I found that that was a little easier to access than on the nikon.
On the side here we have a number of different ports which we’ll talk more about later on.
The d500 is a fully weatherproofed body which might be important to note especially if you shoot in rougher conditions, where as the 80d is only partially weatherproof.
So overall, if you’re going to be using larger telephoto lenses in a pro environment, you’ll probably want to go for the d500, but if you want a smaller more convenient sized the 80d is the one to go for.

So lets quickly have a look at the viewfinders on the back here.
Even though they might look different with the nikon having a round viewfinder compared to canons more traditional viewfinder, i didn’t really find much of a difference and they were both good.
Both the nikon and the canon have 100% viewfinder coverage, and I never hd any problems with either.

Now staying on the back of the camera here, i wanted to talk about the lcd screens on the back.
To me, the better lcd screen is on the 80d.
Now both of these cameras have articulating screens but the 80d has a fully articulating screen which is great.
wehreas on the d500 you can only flip it up and down, the80d can go a lot further.
tis great if you want to film yourself as well which is what I’m doing right now.
In terms of brightness and clarity, i actually found that the nikon was incredibly good even in bright conditions, but thats not to say the 80d was bad at all.
It also feels a little stronger than the d500s screen especialyl at the join here.
So overall the better lcd screen is on the 80d.

And one thing i didn’t mention before was the touch screen on the back of these cameras.
Now both of these cameras have touch screens, which is really nice to see especially on the d500 which is a pro camera where you wouldnt normally expect to see one.
But again, even though it has touch screen it’s no where as good as on the 80d.
The 80d’s touch screen is much more responsive than on the d500 and can be used to pull focus incredibly quick.
But the d500 does have a great trigger on the back here which to be fair is really great and very quick for changing your focus point.
But overall again, the 80d has the better touch screen.
